Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea
*Is it Spring time yet?  The answer to that would be a BIG FAT GREY, SNOW COVERED NO!!!!! UGH!  Hope all you bloggy friends out suffering some bad ice storms & some heavy snows are doing OK...

*This has seemed like the longest week....guess its pay back because last week FLEW by...

*I saw this picture & had to laugh because this is exactly what I could imagine Ricky looking like in his family picture as a young tike... once a rocker, always a rocker!

*Am I a bad American because I didnt care the President was on this week?  I just cant stand when its the State of the Union & all that stupid CLAPPING... shut up people!  They make it drag on for HOURS when he could just give the speech & it'd be like 15 minutes... Stand up, clap, sit down, hear 5 words, repeat... no thank you... It was a good time to catch up on my DVR

*I'm so depressed about "Ugly Betty" being canceled... I just hope they end it with a fantastic ending...BOO to ABC for moving it from Thursday's 8:00 spot where it was perfect...

*I heard this morning that the Bachelor will be having a "wedding special" with Jason & Molly... wonder if they're going to invite Melissa?

*SPAT OF THE WEEK - ENVELOPES!!!!  Oh my gosh!  I know I may be a little anal about some things, but this drives me INSANE... Ricky likes to just pile his mail anywhere in the kitchen (& then wonders how things get lost).  So I got him a cute little basket to sit on the counter where he can put all this stuff... well, it would be if he could just put things in it neatly.  But NOOOOOO... he's gotta rip every envelope like a crazed man when he opens his mail.  And once its ripped, you can line it up nice & neat with paper jagged out in directions.  So I take the contents out & throw away the envelope.  Why do you need it anyways?  And hence, the spat.  For some reason, Ricky things a torn envelope which you'll never use is something you must keep...... Needless to say - I'm going through this basket this weekend & every stupid envelope is turning to shreds....

*I watched "Romeo & Juliet" - the Leonardo DiCaprio version last night.  Hadn't seen it in awhile.... forgot how good & wacky it was... (& how young Leo & Claire look) but dang it, it bothered me so bad... I had to turn it off right before he killed himself thinking Juliet was dead... In my mind, he saw her move & she woke up & they ran off happily ever after.  I do the same thing to Moulin Rouge... Turn it off as they sing the last song - right before she dies in his arms...Is Baz Luhrmann trying to drive me deep into depression?

*Speaking of "Romeo & Juliet" - I was trying to find "Kissing You" on iTunes... you have to buy the whole album... weird.   But I after seeing the movie, I forgot how good the soundtrack was... I may just have to get the whole thing after all!

*Am I the only one who still hasnt seen "Avatar"?

*And since this has turned into a Movie version of Friday Fragments... I'm excited - just got in the mail from Netflix "Julie and Julia"... I heard such good things about it...

Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday... Come on weekend!

  1. RJ,
I LOVE your Friday Fragment posts ~~ LOVE IT!!!

You know by now that I am NOT a movie girl really. So I have not seen R & J (funny RJ, anyway...) and I haven't seen Avatar either, but Dak has and says its the BEST movie he's ever seen (and the boy has seen A LOT of movies), BUT you HAVE to see it in 3-D he says. I didn't know it costs extra. What is that all about? Dak says it's like a dollar more. boo.

    Have a Super Snuggly weekend,
    Dawn

Ricky just need to throw those envelopes out...there is no good reason to keep them.

  4. No, you are not the only one who has not seen Avatar. Honestly, I have no desire to see it!

    I agree. Where's spring already?

  5. I also have no desire to see Avatar, and when I read Romeo and Juliet in high school, I was convinced they were actually going to live happily ever after! :(

Hadn't heard about Jason and Molly. Oh, I wish I had the nerve to boycott it - but you know I will be drawn to that think like a moth to the light!

  6. I am so ready for Spring too. I can't wait for it.

I loved all of the movies you talked about. I still have not seen the one you talked about. I really do not want to either. It is not my kind of movie. Sorry.

Have a great weekend. I have something fun starting on my Blog next week if you want to join in.

  7. Oh my, hilarious! That could so be your hubby in that picture, haha!!!!!

I wasn’t too impressed with Julie& Julia. But maybe you’ll think differently :)

And girl, you missed nothing with the State of the Union Address. Blah, Blah, Blah is what I say.

    Stay warm!!

  8. Haven't seen Avatar either...Julia & Julie you will LOVE. I would love to do what Julie did but with Paula Deen cookbooks! As much as I love to cook/bake, Julia & Julie was my favorite movie in 2009 by far! Let me know what you think.

  9. Girl...you have GOT to see "Avatar"...it will blow your mind! You know, I hate to admit it, but when the State of the Union was on, I fell asleep. I was bored half out of my mind. I, too, can't take all the ups and downs and non-stop clapping...drives me crazy!!!

  10. I am so tired of the winter and cold! I shivered all the way home from prayer meeting last night!

We were at Awana and missed most of the State of the Union and just couldn't watch what was left when we got home.

We still haven't seen Avatar either...not really sure if we will see it or not yet.

Hope you have a great day!

  13. Nope, I haven't seen Avatar either! Heaven help me, my husband will not go! Grrrrr.

You are so silly, turning off R&J and MR right before the end?! I guess I never thought about doing that and making up my own ending.

I do like your ending better anyway!

  14. I'm totally bummed that they are canceling Ugly Betty. One of my favorite shows.

And no you aren't alone... I haven't seen Avatar either!

    Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!

  18. You are not the only one who hasn't seen Avatar! I'm not sure if I will even bother to be honest *L*

Julie & Julia was great. My husband even liked it.

I started watching the State of the Union on youtube but about 5 minutes in I just decided that I didn't quite hate myself enough to sit through the whole thing.

Don't even get me started on my husband's "filing system." It makes me cry!

  19. I've heard good things about J&J but haven't seen it (or Avatar) yet.

Loved the family portrait. I wonder if it's for real--too funny!!

I'd love to stay longer, but I'm procrastinating paying/not paying the property taxes...wish me luck!

  20. No, you're not the only one who hasn't seen Avatar... I haven't and really have no desire to!

Enjoy Julie & Julia... I thought it was a good movie!

  21. Oh, the days when Leo was still a cutie! :(

Nope, haven't seen Avatar. Heard it had a lousy plot, but great effects. I need a plot, folks!

Julie and Julia was good. My husband LOVED it and has now checked out both volumes of Julia's books and checked out her cooking DVD series from the public library. So far, it's only cost me $10 in truffle oil! Oh, brother! (Julia is charming and does make me want to cook, though.)
