Healthcare Reform.... do what?

I dont even claim to know to understand what's going on in Washington or with the government.  Its never been anything I ever paid any attention to... I know some people probably shake their head at me on that... but I ask them, "Do you know the best yarn out there?" .... joking... kinda... but I really dont give things of the government much thought...

But I see this morning on the news (which I also try to avoid - & I promise, I'm not a hippie) the big stories of the Healthcare Reform passing overnight...

So I'm asking you all to give me a quick summary... your opinions - what is this going to mean for me?  Or should I even care?

  1. I am the same as you!! I really don't understand it all and I haven't really educated myself on it. All I know is it makes me nervous! It just goes to show how divided our country is and the mere fact that there was such controversy over it is what makes me nervous! I'd definitely like to know what other people think!!

  2. Here is what I took away from it (and I'm sorta lost myself).

*It won't really have a big impact until 2014, and the impact to us will be small.
*If anyone has a adult child on their insurance currently, they can continue to keep them on until they are 26 (I think this starts in Sept of this year).
*You won't be dropped from your insurance if you get sick.

*Insurance companies can no longer use "pre-exisiting condition" clauses.

There will always be finger pointing from Republicans and Democrats. There are a lot of kinks to work out, that's for sure.

  3. The thing that is going to impact my family is that you will be required to have health insurance. We currently don't have any, and I know that isn't great, but the truth is that we can't afford it, and being required to have it is going to be a burden on us......like-do we buy food and pay rent or do we buy health insurance so the government doesn't fine us. That sort of situation.

Other than that, I'm at the point right now where it is obvious to me I can't control what Congress is going to do...and with that, I can't let myself dwell on it and become upset, so I try to stay out of it as much as possible.

  4. I am not sure what I think yet. My husband and I were talking about it last night. I guess we sit and wait and see what happens next. I think we will all be fine..

  5. I'm not happy about it but I'm not getting all hot and bothered either since there's nothing I can do to change or prevent what's coming. Have to keep reminding myself that God is in control even when it doesn't look like it! Here's a verse for you:

Proverbs 21:1 The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases. (NIV)

It helps to remember that no matter who THINKS they are in control the truth of the matter is that God holds each of us and has promised to work all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose! :)

  6. My problem:

    GOVERNMENT RUN

So far every other government run option, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps, etc is corrupt. Plain & simple. The in place systems don't work and I don't have faith that the government needs to take control of one more aspect of my life.

I don't need the government to tell me what they will and won't pay for or what I can and can't see a dr. about. I don't need them to tell me I/or one of my kids can't see a specialist because they don't think we fit the bill.

My biggest problem is I'm having this shoved down my throat by people I don't trust to have this power.

But God is in control...I'm just along for the ride.

I plan on reading through the cliffnotes version sometime this week so maybe I will have something more to say then.

  7. It all sounds like a big mess to me! From what I understand, it's most going to affect future generations...and that really concerns me. Like some of the other commentors said...GOD is in control and we have to keep trusting Him!

  10. I am just like you, I don't pay much attention to this stuff so I don't know much!

    Maybe I should? Nah.

  11. Girl, I quit paying attention to the stupid government goings-ons after the presidential election.

I won't watch anything with him or his female sidekick leader of the Senate thing.

Sound bitter? You betcha. This country was founded on Christian principles, and we've lost sight of that.

    It's very disheartening.

  12. wow, looks like so many of us haven't investigated what this really means for us as a nation. Any time the Gov. gets in our daily lives and decisions, its never a good thing. Please go and educate yourselves. This is an important topic ;) Great post!!! xxoo LA

  13. Glad (and sad) to know I'm not alone. I've always been lucky to have decent health insurance. I pay for it through work, but we give it a work out. I'm hoping the access we've enjoyed won't be inhibited.

  16. Chiropractors understand that one of the main causes of pain and disease is the misalignment and abnormal motion of the vertebrae in the spinal column called a subluxation. Chiropractic works by removing these subluxations in the spine, thereby relieving pressure and irritation on the nerves, restoring joint mobility, and returning the body back to a state of normal function.
