Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

Its Friday.. wait... was last week Black Friday?  Why does that feel so long ago?
But its Friday, nonetheless... so let's frag...

*****
What does a nervous breakdown feel like?  Because I think I may be edging close to it... with my to-do lists being forever long - with my house looking like a tornado blew through - with my dogs suffering from getting old - with Christimas shopping to do & all that comes with Christmas... I could go on & on here... I think I have an ulcer...

*****

We're getting snow this weekend!!!!  I wouldnt mind so much if I didnt have the above-mentioned Christmas stuff to do!  I wish I could just sit back, in my library, with my knitting & watch the snow fall... but instead, I'll be 4-wheeling to risk my life to get to the mall... Tis the Season

*****

Can you all lift up a prayer for Ricky?  Cant say too much... but its good... no worries!  Just pray for God's will in Ricky's life... Hopefully I can say more soon!!!!

*****
Speaking of Ricky - I'm stumped what to get him for Christmas... any ideas?  What are you ladies getting your husbands for Christmas?  He loves dimes... I think I need to start now & next year, give him a whole HUGE container of dimes... that would probably be the best gift he'd ever get!  ... seriously...

*****
I've got to go back to the dentist next week for my permanent crown...& I'm also having problems with another tooth.... I guarantee you - it'll be another root canal/crown... watch & see... See why I'm so stressed?

*****
With all the feel of stress on my blog this week - how can I not have "SPAT OF THE WEEK"?  And it is a doozy.... CELL PHONES IN THE MALL!!!!! ... Last weekend, Ricky & I were in the mall, in JCPenny.  We'll usually kinda veer off from each other, but always meet back up before we head into the mall.  I was in the purses & then in the makeup & then the jewelry & then thought, "Wow - its been a long time - wonder whats taking Ricky so long?" - so go to make a call on my cell phone.  No signal.  So I wait... & wait... & still no signal.  It was over an hour later.  So I KNOW my husband - he's not in this store anymore - so I venture into the mall to find him.  Its Black Friday ... trying to find my husband in a mall on Black Friday is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.  This whole time - my phone is doing nothing.  I turned it off/on like a dozen times - nothing... I then went to the car thinking he'd go out there.  We're 2 hours in at this point... Nope - he's not there - I leave a note to where I'm going to sit at & then head BACK in the mall... I walk in & think I hear his voice... head that direction - he's on his phone!  WHAT?  He has a signal?  ... & then I hear him say, "She's not answering her phone - I'm going to kill her"... HOLD UP!!!! I see him & I'm about ready to take his phone & smash it in the ground.

He had a signal... apparently it was just MY phone...(which still wasnt working)... but when Ricky sees me - he says "Why havent you answered your phone?" ....He might as well said, "YOU ARE FAT" because those words went through me the same way.... He then told me he just assumed I didnt hear my phone... WHAT?  After 3 hours, I'm just ignoring my phone?  I'm not wondering where my husband is or trying to get ahold of him? ... I was livid... Ricky thought it was funny... which made me more livid... which Ricky thought was even funnier... which....(you get the cycle)... Yes, my cell phone almost drove me to bodily harm....

For the record - we took the battery out & turned it back on & the phone worked fine.... geez....

*****
was that the longest "Spat of the week" EVER?

*****
TIP OF THE WEEK:  If your shoes or boots are stained with salt from trudging through the snow, just dip a cloth or an old t-shirt into white vinegar & wipe away the stains!!!! (Love white vinegar!)

  1. Ooh - thanks for the vinegar tip - I'll be using that one for sure.

I got my husband a lined flannel shirt from LL Bean (it's COLD where he teaches) and a sock monkey wine bottle cover. Heh. Technically I'm nost supposed to get him anything because we splurged on a new briefcase for him for his birthday - it was supposed to be bd, anniversary & Christmas.

I have trouble with my phone like that sometimes & removing the battery does help. Getting a new phone would REALLY help :) Hint hint honey...

  4. Prayer said! : )

And as far as a gift, have you thought about one of those collectors "folders" for Ricky for his dimes? Here's a link to what I'm talking about--you can get them for all currency, including dimes! http://www.coinsupplystore.com/site/1648271/pix/LF_NP_5395.jpg

  5. Great tip about the vinegar! I'm definately going to have to try that one!

Sorry things are a bit rough and hectic for you now. I will be praying for you! It all seems to come in waves, everything hitting at once, doesn't it?! Hope the mail brings you something to smile about very soon ;)!

  7. Oooh, that is a great tip! I get salt stains on my suede boots all the time.

    Have a great weekend!

  8. Great tip about the salt on boots but as we rarely get snow (and then its only an inch or two) I can honestly say I've never had salt on my shoes from snow...HA!!

Ricky's gift ideas...well, I have no idea! Thankfully, David filled up his Amazon cart with things he wanted one night to see how much it would add up to and I went on there and wrote down everything he had put on there..hehe...not that he is getting it all mind you!

And your spat of the week had me rolling laughing...we have had the same situation except David had his phone turned off (supposedly by accident) and it took us over 2 hours to find each other in the mall...me dragging three kids along with me the entire time too!

Hope you have a wonderful, white snow filled weekend and that you have safe travels getting your shopping checked off. :)

  11. I'll be praying for Ricky to get a good direction!

I'm scaling back on Christmas decorating this year. Not putting too much pressure on myself to do too many different things.

I hope you get caught up,

    Hugs & love,

  13. If you want to knit, why not knit? Just think how much good it will do for your tired soul.

Do you think the Magi ran around with their heads cut off looking for their gifts?

    Nope.

Remember that Christmas is a man-made tradition. Being still and focusing on the One is the most important thing.

    Things will fall into place.

Relax and enjoy the holidays and don't put so much pressure on yourself.

  14. Oh YAY another use for white vinegar!!!

    I'll be praying for Ricky.

  15. That has happened to my phone too. When you remove the battery and replace it, it somehow resets the insides of the phone. Very frustrating.

I'm getting dental work done too. Been at the last few months. The dentist staff and I are like family these days.

  16. Your husband loves dimes. That's such a great quirky thing. I would absolutely start collecting for next year. What fun.

Taking the battery out of a phone is sort of like rebooting your computer. Why is it something so easy that's so frustrating.
