Project 365... 2011: Week 10

Want to join along?  Just click on the button below to go to Sara's blog...

Sunday - Feb 27 - Knight Rider Princess ... this is a game that our new Youth Minister had the jr high kids do.  Its hilarious - they get a partner & if you call out "Knight" - you have to sit on your partner's back.  Call out "Rider" & they have to jump on their back... "Princess" has you leaping into your partner's arms.  Whoever is last is out until it gets down to the final couple... its awesome.  I loved "Princess" more then anything because one kid would actually run & FLY across the room into his partner's arms.  Luckily, his partner was a decent sized kid who could hold his friends weight... I laughed until I cried...

Monday - Feb 28 - Qdoba Youth Leader Night... we got together with all the leaders in our youth group for just a night of "hanging out" ... I had a great time talking to some of the leaders I dont normally get to spend a lot of time with.  It was funny because we all got there tired & exhausted after long days for each of us - but the stories & company just pumped us up & it ended up being a night of great laughs & getting to know each other more...

Tuesday - Mar 1 - LYSOL to the rescue... I mentioned this in my Friday Fragments... the ladies in my office had the stomach flu... I was not going ANYWHERE without my purple bottle.  Literally - I would spray the door way of my office & threatened anyone to walk in my germ-free zone...

Wednesday - March 2 - Weapons & MONEY? .... I taught the youth kiddos on money.  But I actually started out the lesson with some of my old weapons that I used to use when I was in martial arts.  Talking about discipline actually ... & how when we're disciplined, it makes us learn - even if we dont want too... & a lot of times, discipline turns into habits... & can actually turn into something we like... God wants us to be disciplined in giving... See how it connected?  And it never hurts to have sharp weapons to show Jr. High kids... it definitely grabbed their attention.

Thursday - March 3 - Wait?  My tooth just came out!!!! .... Yep - I'm holding my tooth... & see that black spot?  When it came off, I bit down on it, chipping off the porclein.  Its a wonder I didnt break another tooth doing just that...

Friday - March 4 - Before/After at the Dentist... Luckily - the tooth under the crown was not affected.  But because I chipped the porclein off the crown, I had to get a new one.  But GET THIS MESS... because this crown has been on under 2 years, (got it on in Aug 2009) insurance wouldnt cover a new one.  So I had to pay straight out of pocket for a new tooth!!! $850!!!!  The dentist though, bless her heart - was so sweet.  She ended up fitting me & giving me, for free, a $300 tooth guard so I will stop grinding my teeth ... which is what has caused many of my problems (broken teeth) & why she thinks this was loosened.  I actually cried when she said she'd do that for me for free...

Saturday - March 5 - Hope for the Children 5k ... it was rainy & my knee hurt, but I went ahead & ran this 5k that raised money for a team that is going to Romania to serve in orphanges.  I ended up a winner though - won a 1 hour massage for a door prize. SCORE!!! I need it for my poor knee... & it was rainy & I forgot the #1 of running in the rain... I wore COTTON socks.. a no-no... so blisters & a bum knee at the end of the night.  But I have a massage & a medal... makes it worth it :)

Cant wait to see everyone else's pictures... Keep Clickin' :)

  1. I LOVE your pictures! I can just imagine the kids in the Knight Rider Princess game! The cheerleaders and a few a small group of kids did a game similar to that at our school's homecoming and it was so funny!

So sorry to hear about the crown. :( I can't believe that you had to pay out of pocket like that! I had one tooth way in the back that had a crown...the first dentist did a filling that was so deep he ended up doing a partial root canal and filled it with an odd material. I ended up breaking that tooth off and getting a crown (cutting the gumline down and requiring stitches in the gumline around Thanksgiving boo!) and just last year started having problems with pain and sensitivity. Come to find out the second dentist that did the crown didn't clean it properly and it got infected but I didn't feel it until it was too late since there was no nerve in the tooth. Had to have it pulled. :(

Your lesson on discipline and money sounds like a great one of the kids...and I agree, what a way to get the kids attention with weapons!!

Very cool win with the masage...hope it helps and your knee is feeling much better soon!

  7. Good job on the run! I would totally have bailed (although I do have pictures of me looking drenched after a breast cancer walk one year).

  8. Congrats on your win!! I have to ask, what are the proper socks to wear in the rain?

Your tooth fell out!!?!?!??! (I have a reoccurring dream that my teeth fall out at the weirdest times.) That is crazy!! What a blessing of a dentist, though, to give you a free night guard. Hopefully it will help.

  14. I went to the dentist last week and for the first time I was told I was going to need to get a night gaurd because I am grinding my teeth. I couldnt believe it. I have been to the dentist lots in my life. I have horrible teeth. I try to take care of them but no amount of flossing and brushing seems to work for my teeth... so I just keep going to the dentist. Not sure when I will get my night gaurd or even how much it will cost me. Fun stuff :-)

  16. I love the Knight/Rider/Princess action shots. Everyone looks like they are having so much fun.

And I feel you on the crown. I had the same problem with the two-year mark when I had to get mine.
