Hodgepodge

Half way through the work week...that means its Hodgepodge time

1. Aloha! On August 21, 1959 Hawaii officially became a US State...have you ever been? Upon arrival would you prefer an orchid or a hibiscus to tuck behind your ear?

Never been... never plan on it...

First of all - know how far Hawaii is from Indiana?  Do you KNOW how long that means I'd have to be on a plane...ohhhhhh nooooooooo thank you!

Give me the Tiki Lounge in Disney World & I'm happy enough

2. Since we're talking tropical...what's your favorite food or beverage made with pineapple?

I love Pineapple...

Ricky & I love to juice pineapples... mix it with anything & its yummy.

Our favorite probably was Pineapples with apples & Blackberries...not only does it taste wonderful, its just pretty!!!

3. Do you believe in soul mates? Explain.

Soul Mates... it has to exist, right?  After all, there are movies that show that it exists...

Source: imdb.com via Michelle on Pinterest

Remember this one?  Chances Are... where Cybil Sheperds husband dies but he needs to be with his soul mate & comes back in Robert Downey Jr.'s body...

Oh wait... she ends up marrying his best friend in the end

Nevermind... no... soul mates dont exist

4. Share a memory about the house you grew up in

I remember growing up, we didnt have central air.  We only had window units.  During the day, certain rooms would have the AC on... we had one in the living room, one in the kitchen & one in the bedroom.  During the day, the kitchen would be on.  If company was coming, living room... & then at night, my parent's room would have the AC on.  My brother & I would sleep on the floor on foam matresses & we'd bring the dog in there too & then shut the door to keep it cool in there.

A whole family in one tiny room....great memories...
& even better?  I remember waking up FREEZING in that room...
Then you didnt want to open the door because you'd feel the heat just hit you in the face...

Back to the kitchen for the day where that AC would run...

Central Air ruined family gatherings :)

5.  Are you comfortable with silence?

No - I hate it...

Someone told me that if you're not comfortable in silence, then you're not comfortable with yourself

Call it whatever you want, I like noise... even white noise... noise that I dont even pay attention too.

I am the only person in the office that keeps a radio on all day... the day seems so much slower if there is no sound going on...

Ricky will even drive with the radio off & that drives me crazy... how do you not sing while you drive?  Its virtually impossible for me.  I'd just sit in the middle of the road not knowing how to work the pedals if music werent flowing...

6. You spot a giant spider on your bedroom wall...what's your next move? (all spiders are giant, right?)

I would take it outside...
Seriously...

I'm the one who people call in the office when there's a bug...
I hate to kill them - so I usually get a piece of paper, have them crawl on it & then take them outside to a bush & say "Run Free"

now, if its HUGE... like the kind that will eat your face off... Ricky will usually kill them around the house because we dont want them to bite our dogs.  Our Aussie is so allergic to everything, so we dont take chances when it comes to them.

Otherwise, spiders dont bug me... haha - get that little pun...

7.  My idea of fun does NOT include_____________.

Gambling
Heights
Airplanes
Sand
High Heels
Humidity

(random enough?)

8 Insert your own random thought here.

So a year later & my Bicep Tendonitis is still miserable...
its coming to the point where I need to decide if I want to do surgery or just keep trying alternative ways of trying to heal it...

I'm always in the search for alternative ways...
what if they cut the bicep tendon & then its even MORE painful ... then what do you do?  They've cut it!!!

I'm thinking of trying more massages & I also read up on Tumeric...
yeah - that spice in curry... they sell it in supplements.

Its supposed to be a major anti-inflammatory - & I read that it has helped with tendonitis...

so Amazon to the rescue..
it should be here by the weekend.... I just hope I dont smell like an Indian restaurant

  1. Hope you find a non-surgical solution but I guess sometimes its the only way. I do love Indian food so I'd try that first : )

I remember the days of no A-C, laying on top of the covers with a fan blowing warm air. Funny how those memories are sweet, not bitter.

    Enjoy your day!

  2. I hope the tumeric works for you, although I've never heard of that. My grandmother's house NEVER had AC and I can remember when she still cooked on an old wood burning stove - you talk about hot!

  3. How is it that I agree with you about everything you just posted? I felt like I was reading something that I just wrote! Could we be Soul-Mates?

  4. I've dealt with all sorts of shoulder tendonitis for 20+ years. I've been working my way up through anti-inflammatories and am now on an arthritis medicine which seems to be working very well. Add that to now I've got tennis elbow so my entire right arm is in burning pain. Not a fun way to spend all day on a computer for work. Have you tried cortisone rub? I have a prescription for Velatin. They use it with ultrasounds but you can rub it in by hand. Smells but it does seem to work.

  5. I agree with you wholeheartedly on #7 - well, except for the sand of course. Being a beach lover to the max, I do love sand ... especially warm sand between my toes. ;-)

  7. I remember when we got our first "in the window" air conditioner...and my dad put it in his little office/TV room. We would all squish in there on hot days and watch the TV - which was a little, portable black and white TV. It didn't matter - we were in the one cool spot in the house!

  8. Sure hope and pray that Tumeric does the trick...stinky as it is! Bless your heart...you've had such a time! You need some relief NOW! Keep the faith, my friend! Oh, girl...if you ever get the chance to go to Hawaii...TAKE IT! I've been there once and it was life-changing, on so many levels. Really takes your breath away at what God created!

  9. I'm from Pennsylvania, so my trip would be even further to Hawaii. I agree with you - would not like being on a plane for that long!

  10. We didn't have AC until I was ten. Not even a window unit!

  11. My sweet RJ,
Silence doesn't bother me anymore. In fact I revel in it. It is usually so loud and well, loud around here that a little silence is rest to my weary soul, but sometimes a good ol belt in the car to Mary Mary Shackles is of course needed. Like yesterday. Sir Cuteness looked at me like I had two heads, but then again, he knows my crazy ways =)

Let me know if the turmeric works. I've considered taking it, but I keep thinking it will give me heartburn. Is that weird?

Love you girl ~~ have a Blessed day ~~ dawn
