Voting Day

Voting Day...

Growing up, I dont ever remember politics being a big topic in the house.  Nothing I ever heard my parents getting in deep discussion over.

But I know on Election Day, voting was IMPORTANT...

I can remember being a kid, down the street, playing with other kids...

...that's what kids use to do in the old days
... go outside & play with other kids...

But we'd be in the middle of a kick ball game & my mom & dad would drive down in their funky 70's van or our massive ship of a car, the LTD, & tell me to get in... they were headed to vote.

Of course, I never was allowed behind the curtain, but my parents always took me with them ... & I waited... & watched

Watched everyone sign in, get their ballot, go behind the curtain & place their vote

I always wondered what happened behind that curtain... it was all so mysterious

& then I remember in high school when they came to our Senior Class Lunch room & registered whoever wanted to register to vote.

Its my turn... I would be able to vote...I was able to go behind that curtain & see what the big deal was about...

& I have voted ever since...

I'm not that big in politics...
I'm not up on all things debated...
But I do know issues...

& I do take my job as a voter seriously...

it was instilled in me from a small child...

So today, I will be headed to the polls... taking advantage of what I get to do today as an American...

If only I had a funky 70's van to drive to the voters poll today!

  2. I'm waiting until this afternoon so I can vote with YS since it's his first time! MS is coming home so he can vote...of course he's only 15 minutes away, but he's still going to vote! :)

  3. Even though I've been up for a couple of hours, I'm still "waking up". Once I finish up here, make the bed and get dressed, I think we'll head on out to vote. Hopefully the pre-work crowd will be done so we won't have to stand in line too long.

  6. I got up at 5:30am to go vote at 6:00am with my husband.I thanked him for taking me and he thanked me for voting.Isn't that funny.Do any other wives out there get appreciated by your husband for voting? You would understand if you ever brought up the subject of voting to him. Plus, he "likes" to encourage me to vote for who he thinks is the best candidate. But I normally do not tell anyone who I vote for.It is my right and my privilege to mark those ballets.I love my country and respect my leaders as God commands. Knowing full well that He is in charge. Wouldn't have it any other way.Praise The Lord.

  7. Our district has a voting machine for little kids. It's the cutest thing. It's important to teach our kids not to take advantage of our democracy.

  8. I am so grateful to live in America. We voted early, but I've been following all evening.

  9. love the cartoon. I didn't appreciate voting in my 20's. Now I do. We just don't get it when we're young. I was sad, too, over the Romeny loss. But more disappointed in the American electorate. It's surprising that we really seem to be heading into a country of dependence. I'm shocked people really want that. I'm just glad I'm not any younger. I think things will get harder for each upcoming generation.
