Five on Friday

1. Earrings

So yes, I cried this morning over a pair of earrings.
My pearl earrings that I wear in life 90% of the time... they broke.  I went to take them out to put on a pair of silver loops.  Now, I change my earrings maybe once or twice a month.  Pearls are classic - they go with everything.  But today, I had the idea to change out my earrings.  And as I unhooked the back, the pearl popped right off the setting.  I screamed like I had been shot.
On the agenda this weekend: Get a new pair of pear earrings ASAP

2. Walgreens Rewards

I just found out a few weeks ago that you can link up your FitBit, or most of the other tracking devices, to your Walgreens account & get bonus Balance Reward points.  Seriously?  Yep. You can earn points just by moving every day.  I've already racked up more points on that then what I spend.  I think there is a monthly limit, but still?  Any points are better then no points.

3. PiYo

I started this week with a test group doing PiYo.  Its a program that combines Pilates & Yoga together for a full body workout.  I will say, I'm not a big fan of yoga just because of my upper body.  See how she is in that picture?  This is a LOT - A LOTTTTT - of holding yourself up in downward dog, planks, tricep push-ups, which is great if you have two good arms.  I have one shoulder & bicep that is miserable when pushed to the limits.  Hold the body weight I have & it's tough.

Charlene Johnson is great though about pushing modifications so I'm doing just that. Its a 10 week program - I'm going to reevaluate after 5 weeks to see if I can do the last half.  I'm hoping to see some progress & maybe HELPING my shoulder? (Fingers crossed)

The only thing I don't care for - most of the workouts are short, so when I finish with them, I head to the treadmill or elliptical to actually workout for over 30 minutes & to get my heart pumping. I guess that's not a bad thing, but I like to get it all done in one swoop.

4. Donny from Big Brother

Anyone else watching this show?  If you're not, then you're missing the most awesome American there is. Donny.  The dude who looks like he's from Duck Dynasty.  This guy just makes me smile every time they show him & every time he opens his mouth.   When/If he gets evicted from the Big Brother House - which I think he will because he's too kind to be in a vicious game like this & he's too trusting - I think he needs his own reality show.

5. Summer Vortex

I wanted to cry when the Polar Vortex hit this past winter, making us basically all human popsicles.  But this new summer Vortex that is supposed to happen next week, causing the lows to be in the low 50's & the high's in the 70's??? Oh my goodness.... I am now trying to figure out if I can take off days of work in the middle of the week to just sit & do nothing but enjoy the day.

  4. I always add in my miles on the treadmill to my rewards at Walgreens. I tell you, I rack up some serious dollars off for stuff there.

  5. SO sad about your earrings. I don't know what I would do if my diamond studs broke.... probably scream like I'd been shot to. Ha.
    Have a great weekend.

  7. I understand completely how you feel about your earrings. I have a pair of silver hoops that I wear nearly every day. Back around Christmas I lost one. I was heart broken. Then about two months later I found it sitting in the middle of the floor. I don't know where it had been. I don't care where it had been. It came back!! It was like Christmas again. :)

  8. I'm looking forward to next week's Polar Vortex, too! It's only a high of 65 here on Tuesday and I can't wait to break out the sweatshirts!

  9. When it's one of my favorite pieces of jewelry--I know how sad it is if something broke. For me, even if the item was really expensive to begin with, I'll still be sad if it breaks. Hope you can fix your pair or get a new one!
