I knit boobs....

First, a creative title is everything, right?

But its not just an funny title... its legit.

I really did knit some boobs.

Purple ones at that.

How many people are a.) confused or b.) feeling uncomfortable.

Well, let's back up.

Being a knitter, I love when people post knit things on my Facebook page.  It makes me happy to know that when people see knitting items, posts, memes, that I'm the first one they think of.

I have made my mark on the world.... one stitch at a time.

One of the things I got on my Facebook page was a post about a group called Knitted Knockers.

The site is right HERE if you are interested in checking them out.
(I suggest using this link because goodness knows what you'll click on if you just Google  "Knitted Knockers" )

But it is a legit charity that knits up handmade breast prosthesis for woman who have undergone mastectomies or other procedures to the breast.

Instead of the hot, sticky material of regular prosthesis, you can have soft comfy cotton next to your skin.

Even better, there are patterns to make the size cup you want.

Used to be a C Cup... you still can be.
Used to be a A Cup... you still can be... or you can move on up & get that C Cup yourself.

With my shoulder, I hadn't been knitting except with my knit-loom & I was trying to figure out how to change the pattern to make it work.  When I couldn't, I decided to give it a go anyways... & they work up so quickly, my shoulder actually cooperated.

It just so happened that a family friend had just gone through the surgery of having her breasts removed due to breast cancer... so coming across this site was perfect timing.  I sent her the link & asked if it was something she was interested in & she instantly said yes....

as long as they were purple.

You go girl.

Purple it was....

They are just the neatest things because you can add stuffing to them, take it out, wash the yarn.... who thinks of these things?

Brilliant people - that's who.

So you thought you heard it all, huh?

If you are a knitter, I really do suggest you go to the site & check it out.
The pattern is easy... & its quick.

& I saw they put out a request for some donations because they just got a big request in orders.

I wonder if anyone else wants purple boobs....

  2. Wow, this is awesome! I'd never heard of this group before but it makes so much sense that this would be more comfortable than traditional options.

  3. Well, that's cool!! I so wish I knew how to knit more than just the basic stitch (still don't know if it's knit or purl - but I only know how to do one of them). Necessity (and creativity) is the mother of invention!

  9. the is so cute!! such a genius idea. it makes me think of my late great granny who had a prosthetic one. she had a fire at her house, so she grabbed her purse, her keys, and her fake boob. that was it! she didn't grab her bible or anything else, and we laughed about that for years.
