Running shirts, praying runners & a weight bench! No this isn't a Fitness Post - its all for Thankful Thursday {Link up #63}

Today I am Thankful for:
(The numbers refer to my journal for the One-Thousand Gifts... in other words, just ignore them)

218 //  Y'all already know I love my Wednesday lunch dates with my hubby... but this past Wednesday we took advantage of our Subway points & got both of our lunches for free.  2nd time we've got to do that with our points.  That's some serious eating at Subway to rake up enough points for 2 full lunches.

219 // Ricky stopped on his way home to get chew bones for the dogs.  Zoe has been coming out & socializing more since its warming up (her poor joints) & she likes to tease the boys when she has a chew bone, so Ricky stopped to make sure his little fur-girl was happy.

221 // The power of a meat-free diet!!!! Y'all... you know I'm passionate about a vegetarian lifestyle but I'm even happier about it after getting some test results back from Ricky.  Certain conditions & tests have improved DRASTICALLY & I know its because he has cut out so much red meat in his life.  Now, he's not vegetarian, but he has cut it back so much living with me & my meat-free dinners (he'll eat meat for lunch at work) but its obviously made a difference cutting back some.  So even if you cant imagine giving up meat totally - just cut it back.  For animals sake... for your own health.

222 // New running shirt!  I have ran the Triple Crown here in town for the past 7 years & never have I seen a Triple Crown running shirt.  This year, they have some really cute designs. I was so torn on which one to get, but ended up getting this one just because it has the total miles for the 3 races.  Being a numbers girl, I of course had to go with it.

224 // The rain held off for the 10k race on Saturday!! ... its so funny because when I was at packet pickup, the guy asked me if I was ready for the race & I said, "I'm just praying the rain holds off" - he said, "Yeah, I never knew runners were such praying people. I've heard more people say that today.".. & then he said, "If anyone up there is listening, I guess we'll find out tomorrow"... in my head, I was like, God, please show this guy you aren't an "IF"! ... & then it didn't rain. All I kept thinking about was that guy & wondering if he took note that all those prayers were indeed heard :)a

225 // So happy about my time at the 10k

227 // Sitting outside to do my Bible Study.  There's just something about nature that makes me connect more with God.  I loved having my Bible open with the sun on my face.

228 // Impromptu game night with friends.

229 // Emerson loves her Pappy.  She just laughs at him & plays with him.  When she yells for him & says "PAPPY" it just makes my heart smile.

231 // Our full gang showed up to Bible Study this time around.  It was great seeing everyone & just being together.

233 // As much as I hate loosing an hour of sleep, I SOOOOOO love more sunlight at the end of the day!!

234 // Swiffer mops on a rainy day with muddy dog feet.

235 // Got 6 cases of sparkling seltzer water. Let me tell you, this stuff is like GOLD around here. Its so hard to find at the grocery so I went to a grocery by my work at lunch & they had some. I bought every carton they had!!!  That should last me.... a few weeks...

236 // Hair Day! ... I love when my hair is so straight.  I just wish I knew how to do it myself.  #notpossible

237 // Free Weight Bench.  This could NOT have come at a better time. I'm planning on starting a new workout program after this half marathon & it focuses on weight training.  The plan calls for a weight bench, but you can make do with other things, which I was planning on doing.  AND THEN.... Amazon sent me a thing asking if I wanted to review ---- guess ---- a weight bench!  A perfect size one too for me ... & for this program.  YES YES YES YES & YES!

So what good things have been happening in your life this week?

Feel free to link up with me every Thursday

  1. free weight bench for the win!! excellent.

i rarely eat red meat (white meat only) but i've also heard that cutting down on red meat really does improve a lot of things, health wise.

  4. That's so exciting about the weight bench!

I love that Triple Crown shirt. I have a thing for shirts that aren't super obviously for something unless you know what the something is. I feel like I'm wearing a fun little secret that people try to figure out. Am I making any sense? Probs not. Shrugs.

  5. I agree that just increasing some of the meatless meals has helped Mike out too. He's not a vegetarian but we pretty much eat vegetarian at home. Still have to be careful though. My brother used to be the type of vegetarian that lives on pizza and pasta and very few actual vegetables. That wasn't so healthy!

  7. Your gifs make me laugh :) We do meat-free eating every so often (used to be 3x a week) but we've slowly put more meat back in our diet. I got tired of looking up menu ideas and with two little babies it was hard for me to focus on new recipes. It's something we totally need to get back into though, I felt so lean and healthy when we cut meat.

  8. Your new hair color is SO pretty! I love that you and Ricky get to have lunch together weekly- and I'm sure a totally free lunch is even better.

  10. That's so great to hear about Ricky! Red meat really is tough on the body. My ex was a vegetarian, bordering veganism for a while there, and when I dated him I became a vegetarian for about a year. But I ended up losing too much weight because I didn't see a nutritionist about it beforehand and I just followed what he ate and my body didn't like it. So I moved to eating fish and chicken again and then red meat. And now that I'm with Kyle, well all bets are off there.

Yay for free meals! I love anything free like that.

Haha Julie Andrews, I love the Sound of Music, it was my first musical that I saw and really loved.

  15. What a blessed week you have had! Love "Free.99" Love, love, LOVE your hair! We are pretty meat-less at our house. It makes a big difference! Have a super awesome weekend!!!

  16. I'm trying to cut back on the ol' meat, and it's an oddly difficult habit to break. However, I'm convinced it's going to be good for us so I'm trying as much as I can. I've missed a couple of bible studies over the past month and it makes me sad. I'm glad you had a full house at yours!

  17. That's awesome that Ricky's health has improved so much from changing his diet. A ton of red meat is not good for anyone, and I rarely if ever eat it and stick to lean proteins. I didn't realize you were a vegetarian but that's awesome!

  18. I'm not a vegetarian but I definitely don't eat as much meat as I used to. The taste, the not knowing how the animals are treated or what they're fed, ... I just would rather not eat meat. We raise chickens for eggs only -- no way we could try to eat one of our girls -- and I'm fine with getting my protein from their eggs. It's great that Ricky's seeing the benefits of cutting back on meat! And free from Amazon is always great!! :)
