Free videos, letters & I am the Pudding Queen!!!!! ....Thankful Thursday #118

Image result for grateful
This week I am Thankful For:
{Numbers go with my One Thousand Gifts Journal... just ignore them}

223 / Bruno slept through the night!!!
It happened once this week. The first time in MONTHSSSSS.  I have to get up with him about every 2 to 3 hours every night. It's exhausting. I dont know what its like to sleep through an entire night anymore. So when I woke up one morning & checked to make sure Bruno was OK, I was so thankful for that one night of total sleep.

224 / #Lunchwithmylove
So its known around these parts that every Wednesday, Ricky & I have our lunch date. We always meet in the same place because he only gets 30 minutes for lunch - not enough time to go anywhere far from his work. But he had to stay late at work on Monday so on our lunch last week, he had some extra time... so we ventured out to one of our favorite places to eat.  It was a fun change of pace.

225 / Dogs getting along with our visitor.
I was so nervous about dog sitting my brother's dog but they've all been fast buddies. It's so funny because I can watch them all day long with our security cameras & in the morning, Charlie & my Harvey Dent will run in the back yard & follow each other around for an hour... & then its nap time... the entire day. Until someone gets home. The life of a dog... I'm a tad jealous.

Notice the pillow & blanket across the floor - that's Charlie's
I thought Harvey was going to destroy it... he got distracted from it - whew!
It's now picked up - Charlie obviously doesnt need it
#madehimselfathome

226 / Letters for our mission friend.
One of our sweet girls in our bible study group left this week to go on her first mission trip.  Even more exciting - she's really new to the whole faith thing anyways - so talk about an exciting leap for her!  But I love that our group all wrote letters of encouragement for her on her trip.  I cant wait to hear how this trip changes her & what she gets to see & experience.

229 / No tooth pain.
In all the uncomfortableness of where my tooth broke & having ot have it removed, I am so thankful that there was no pain in that process. I have had some pain afterwards, but I'm also THANKFUL FOR PAIN PILLS. So there's that.

231 / Pudding from my loved ones.
Not being able to eat has really sucked.  But not really - no sucking allowed when you have a tooth removed.  (I gotta keep telling myself that when I go to grab a straw for every drink!!!)... but Ricky ran down to get my breakfast Sunday morning at the store - some fresh pudding. How sweet is that?

& then on Monday, I get a phone call from my momma that she made me a huge batch of homemade banana pudding.  OH MY GOSH - nothing like my momma's banana pudding.  & huge was an understatement. But do you know that I ate half of it for dinner on Monday & the rest on Tuesday.  A girl has got to survive somehow.

235 / Popsugar videos
I havent been able to run this week with this stupid mouth, so I have been so thankful for Popsugar work out videos.  You can find anything to suit your needs on there.  They really are good workouts - & FREE!!!!  If you need to stretch, or do something high impact, or something low impact, or even some toning - they've got a video for you. I just need to figure out a better way to watch them. Its tiny on my tablet & I dont know how to get it to my TV. I'm not good with technology.... can someone tell me how to do that easily - like if you explained it to a 5 year old. That's my level.

What are you thankful for this week?

What We're Eating This Week....
With my dental nightmare happening - its basically ANYTHING SOFT!
Call me the Smoothie and/or Banana Pudding Queen!!!

What I'm Reminiscing About...
... when I could eat anything I wanted.
Like real food.  That you could chew.
.... le sigh....

What I'm Loving...

Image result for delight latte spray

I absolutely am loving this stuff.
I've only tried the mocha but need to try the other flavors (Vanilla / Caramel)
I use this instead of coffee creamer - & have even used it with no sugar in my coffee too.
It's so delicious.

What We've Been Up To...
The hubs has been all about Basketball this month.
Lets not talk about UK loosing by 2 points.  please. lets not talk about it.
Me?  My March has been a blur of busy - so the usual.

What I'm Dreading....

Image result for tooth bridge funny

Figuring out what to do with this empty space in my mouth with my missing tooth
... or even getting used to the feeling of it.
It's driving me a tad insane.
I'm trying not to touch it with my tongue but of course, its like my tongue is a magnet to the hole.
& eating just feels SO STRANGE.
I may end up loosing 50 lbs because I just want to stick to this liquid diet.

What I'm Working On...

My Hand lettering.
I've always loved some of the beautiful art work that is used for scripture or inspirational quotes. So I've been snatching up some good brush pens & markers & working on my own lettering. I honestly feel like my calligraphy is better than brush pens, but I want to be good at all of it.
Practice, Practice, Practice.

What I'm Excited About...
Easter.
I just love Easter. Everything about it.

 What I'm Watching/Reading....

Image result for sweet home oklahoma

Anyone else watching this new show on Bravo?  I think there's only like 3 episodes shown so far - & every one of them, I have cackled.  3 best friends (& the guy is an ex husband who is now dating his ex-wife again)... they are just so funny together. & if you saw this last week's episode - I literally snorted laughing at what "Pumps" kids has her phone calling her.
They are only 30 minute episodes. You need a laugh - watch it.

What I'm Listening To...

Image result for missing richard simmons podcast

Yep - I got carried away with this podcast.
It was so intriguing, wasn't it?
& I think its strange how the guy sort of abruptly stopped it too.
I think there is something strange happening with Richard Simmons...
but Strange & Richard Simmons just always seems to go well together

What I'm Wearing...

I've been on a leggings kick lately.
I'm looking for some good long shirts/short dresses to wear with them for Spring & Summer. I think they'll be cool & comfortable. I love them with sandals & with boots. They are a year round look.

What I'm Doing This Weekend...

Image result for papa john's 10 miler 2017

We'll see... but I'm supposed to do the Papa John's 10 Miler.
But I havent ran since my mouth trauma from a week ago... & I tried working out & the pain in my jaw was horrid. So I dont know if I'm going to make it through the race or not.
I hate this race anyways- truly hate it - so the idea of running it with tooth/jaw pain?
UGH... just seems appropriate.

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month...
Being done with my half marathon training.
I've just not enjoyed running this time around.  I've been knocking out the runs, but its just not been fun or enjoyable in the least.  I'm actually looking forward to getting back to focusing more on weight training (who am I?) & doing shorter runs. A good 5k or a challenging 10k is more my level right now.  I enjoy those.  Anything over 7 or 8 miles has me grumpy & complaining & just not looking forward to working out.

Odds are... this is exactly what is going to happen #truth

What's Your Favorite Spring Wardrobe Piece...
I am once again on the hunt for white jeans.
Let me tell you - the struggle is SO REAL in my world.
I actually bought one pair... ordered them online because I couldnt find any in stores I liked - got them home & they were too tight. You DONT WANT tight white jeans.
Let me tell you. Nooooooooo.....
So I'm still on the hunt for a good straight pair of skinny (but not too skinny) white jeans.
Its like a unicorn....

But here's the style I like for Spring.
White jeans - with removeable tops where its cool in the mornings & evenings.
This style... which I never can quite pull off ... but a girl can dream!

10 Oscar-Award Winning Flicks

So I'm going to be joining in with quirky pickings as she's kicking off Tuesday Topics that counts down from 10 to 1 every week of fun different topics.  Be sure to click & join in if you want to jump in the fun.

Today's top - 10 Oscar-Award Winning Flicks.

Me & my little get around the rules kinda gal, I'm like, does that include the ones that won Best Song or Musical so I can really get in some of my favorite movies... which usually means cartoons. Yes, cartoons - or to be more MATURE - "Animated films" ... yeah, so what? I love my cartoons even still.

But I'll play fair & go with solely the movies that won for Best Picture... though Beauty & the Beast got ROBBBBBBBED ...

Fun Fact - looking through the list - I've never seen Rocky... but have seen Rocky 3 & Rocky IV is like my favorite... hmmm
& never seen The Godfather.  & I'm Italian. I feel like I should hand over my Italian card.
Honestly, there's a lot of Oscar Winning movies that I've never seen... nor really heard of.  I still am rooting for movies like The Avengeres or helllooooo - the new Beauty & the Beast to win....

Anyways - let's do this ...

1939 - Gone with the Wind... I can remember watching this movie in school.  It was so long, it litearlly look all day long with lunch & breaks in there. But I really enjoyed it.  & couldnt believe they actually used the word "damn" in it. Wouldn't Clark Gable be shocked with the language today?

1965 - The Sound of Music - this is a favorite of Ricky & I.  We always watch it when its on TV.  We even had the 2 set VHS because it was too long to fit on one VHS.  We've seen it on Broadway - with Marie Osmond playing the lead role of Maria... I have the soundtrack (on cassette too) - How do you Solve a Problem like Maria is still one of my favorite musical songs (How do you catch a moon beam & pin it down...that speaks to me)... I never tire of this & its Vaseline lens on Julie Andrews.

1994 - Forrest Gump - Classic.  "I just felt like running"... If this is on TV & I pass by it, I have to sit & watch it. Everyone knows a line or two... or 10 ... from this movie.  JENNNNYYYY!!!

1997 - Titantic - JUST SCOOT OVER ROSE!!!!... you know we all are in agreement on this fact.  But this is ANOTHER movie that we had the 2 VHS set on. I remember seeing this in the theater & SOBBING - like UGLY CRY - at the ending. Like I didnt know how it was going to end?  It was such a beautiful film.  & to this day, I still dont get out of a car with a hat on & not do the Rose head tilt with the look up to the sky.

1998 - Shakespeare in Love - I actually really loved this movie.  Maybe its because of Joseph Fiennes & his droopy eyes - or a really young Ben Affleck - but I thought this was so cleverly done on how they came up with the Romeo & Juliet story.  I need to watch this again... I forgot how much I loved it.

Image result for shakespear in love

2000 - Gladiator  - Again, not a typical movie that I'm drawn too but I thought this movie was so beautifully shot.  & it just had me on the edge of my seat.  I loved the music in it too - weird, I know, but it just is so enchanting.  Russell Crow is just the best in it. Maximum forever.

2002 - Chicago - Gotta love a good musical.  & I was super impressed with Catherine Zeta-Jones & Renee Zellweger.  I still need all my the musicals brought to the big screen please.  Wicked, I'm looking at you!!!

Image result for chicago musical movie

... sorry... I can only come up with 7... I'm telling you, the Oscars dont know how to pick good movies.

So I'm once again breaking the rules & looking at the Best Animated Film... Here's my language.

Movies like Brave, Frozen, Inside Out, Big Hero 6, Happy Feet, Finding Nemo, UP! ... this is my world.

So to finish it off, I'm going with 3 of my favorite Animated winners

2004 The Incredibles - This movie is still one of our favorites. I mean - its SUPER HEROES!!! With a SUPER FAMILY.  & SUPER SUITS!  ... still one of the best Disney Lines ' Honey - Where is my Super Suit!!!!!" ... I need NEED another one of these. If we can get a new Nemo/Dory movie, we should be able to get this!!!!

Image result for incredibles 2 funny

2007 - Ratatouille - This is such an under rated Disney movie. It's SOOO good. I actually didnt see it when it first came out because I thought it was going to be dumb. & now, I watch it every chance I get.

My spirit animal?

2016 - Zootopia - another Disney movie I missed at the theaters because I wasn't too sure what it was about. But when I saw it, instantly fell in love with it.  Such a good point to the movie - & such a cool looking animated film.  Total thumbs up on this one.

So what's some of your favorite Oscar winning movies?

Are you like me & prefer the Animated category? ... & think the Oscars are too snobby & pick weird movies?  Bygones.

Like any of these?

The weekend I was forced to slow down... with thanks to pain pills

I had a lot of plans for the weekend.

What's new, right?

But I had 9 miles to run on my training schedule... I was supposed to do a little part of the message for the MSM kids, which I was SO EXCITED about doing because 1. I have missed teaching so much & 2. It was talking about Bible Journaling!!! ... I also was supposed to do our women's JOY Bible Study...I was supposed to take my car & get detailed...  not to mention all of the other stuff I end up doing on a weekend...

& all of that was thrown out of the window.

Let me back up.  Thursday, I told Ricky, I can feel my tooth feeling funny.  I bet the crown is going to pop off again soon.

I should know that funny feeling. That same crown has popped off that same tooth, I think the count is somewhere around 6 or 7 times.  I know the feeling all too well. I just knew it wasn't feeling right.

So Friday after getting home from the grocery & Ricky picking up some Chuy's for dinner, I am sitting on the back porch finishing up a book ... & then all of a sudden, I feel my crown come off.

I just sort of laughed to myself because I thought, "Man, I'm getting good at knowing this"
except I couldnt have planned for what happened next.

See, when my crown comes off, I can always feel the little popcorn kernel tooth underneath. It never hurts - I had a root canal in it - but it's always such a strange feeling with that little nub sticking up.

& this time, I spit out my tooth & noticed it looked funny... & then ran my tongue over the spot & noticed that nub wasn't there.  WHAT IS HAPPENING?

I look at the tooth again & what do I see? My tooth stuck up in the crown

Well, at least that cement they put on the crown did its job this time around - it didn't "Technically" come off the tooth... but the tooth broke off under the crown.

Poor tooth. It's been through a lot of trauma through the years.

But now what? I had a half broken tooth still hanging in my mouth.  GREAAAAATTTTTTT!!!!

Only about an hour after this happened, I had to suck it up & hold it together because my brother & his family was dropping off their dog for us to dog sit for the week while they're on spring break.  I'm loving having 4 dogs back in the house.... Harvey isn't too sure about not being the newest dog in the house... so its been interesting but I'm all for being surrounded by fur babies.

Luckily, I didnt have any pain in this tooth - it was just sharp if I felt it with my tongue where it was broken & the edges were sticking up out of the gum.

I had an appointment for Saturday late morning... & I knew what was going to happen & my biggest fear -having to have the rest pulled out.

I had a tooth pulled one other time... about 20 years ago.  Let me tell you - it damaged me physically & mentally ... it was HORRIBLE. That's why I've since had so many crowns put in - I'll do whatever it takes to save a tooth instead of having one pulled.  So I had a good cry fest before I left to go to the dentist & had to pull it together & act like a real adult.  NO fun.

The dentist said yep, he had to get the rest of the root out but was afraid it was going to shatter since the tooth was so frail as well.  He was right. He got me numb & then the pulling & drilling & more tugging & more drilling & MORE pulling & drillling happened.  He stopped at one point & I asked with an open numb mouth, "ISH ETT OWWTT YEET?" & he said, "half of it"... GEEZZZZZ... it took about 10 minutes of him cutting & drilling to get the entire thing out.

You can see the broken tooth in the x-ray & the root still deep in my mouth
The white blob behind it is a crowned tooth if you were wondering... not a dental ghost of nightmare past

I will say though - It didn't hurt. I mean, its not how I wanted to spend a Saturday,& its not like getting a spa treatment,  but it was nothing like that first tooth pull.  I wanted to hug the dentist ... & I had to thank God because the entire time the procedure was going on, I was quoting every bible scripture I could remember about God being near & no fear & finding strength & joy... Lord speak!

I actually didnt feel bad afterwards except for the gauze I had to keep in my mouth for 3 hours to stop the bleeding... which literally had me gagging.  But they gave me a prescription for pain pills, which I never take because they put me in a coma but the nurse assured me that they had to do a LOT of work in my mouth & I was going to need them.  So I stopped at the pharmacy & got it filled & picked up some allergy medicine too... thanks tree pollen ... & headed home.

I ended up sitting outside for HOURS enjoying the beautiful weather & letting the dogs get used to each other more under supervision.

Plus, I couldnt do anything else. I had asked the doctor if I could run my 9 miles which he looked at me like I had 5 heads. Ricky said, "You didnt' really ask that, did you?"... well... yeahhh - the instructions said you couldnt lift weights or anything over 35 lbs - not that you couldnt run.  But the dentist made it clear to me that I was indeed not going to want to run.

... it took a few hours but I got what he meant.  OH MERCY... the numbing shots wore off & I thought I was going to punch myself in the face to knock myself out. It wasn't so much the tooth area as it was the lower gums that were throbbing & aching.  I knew I had to give in & take the pain meds.  I also know me - I get sick when I take pain meds without food & throwing up was the last thing I wanted to do - with pulling out my toenails one by one ahead of that.

But you cant eat with a mouth like this so I headed down to the local gas station to get some ice cream... & found some pudding they had made. Let me tell you - it was the best banana pudding I think I've ever had in my life.  Maybe when you havent eaten in 10 hours, anything tastes like the best food ever... but I downed the pudding & downed the pills ... & then I was down for the count.

A healthy dinner

I tried to watch a bit of TV & ended up getting through The Vow  (I'm a little behind in movies apparently) but I just felt like I had been beat....

I was glad I slept fairly well through the night with the pain meds & actually woke up on Sunday feeling a little better. The gum pain had gone away, but the jaw pain had kicked in - like Mike Tyson has used my face as a practice bag.  I couldnt even get my mouth open but a inch so there was no way I could get to church to teach or talk to the kids...

So home I stayed... all weekend... with no running... no church.... no activities.

Just reading, eating pudding & ice cream & practicing hand lettering & bible journaling.  What a strange weekend. Not one I had on my planner, for sure.

Now I have to wait for this to heal & then decide on what to do.

The dentist said I can get an implant.. or get a bridge - which freaks me out because helllllooooo - I am a tooth grinder - I make my teeth pop off easily on that side & with a bridge, I can pop not one tooth off, but THREE now?... or he said I can just leave it.  Its in the back, so its not like its really noticeable, though I havent tried eating real food with it yet & know its going to feel so bizarre to have nothing to chomp down on.  At least I have a few weeks to decide what to do. I'm probably not going to do anything until after the half marathon at the end of April anyways. No more, "You cant run" situations until after that.

So yeah, this weekend doesnt go down in the records as one of my favorites... but I will say, it was nice to slow down for a change of pace.

So how was your weekend?

Do you have a bridge or an implant?  Tell me about it...

Anyone else at least get nice weather like we did?
