The weekend I turned another year older & we turned the calendar over....

Another long weekend....I could so get used to that.

That's what's so awful about having these back to back... getting in routine is just awful & hard.

5 day work weeks are for the birds.

So did everyone celebrate the New Years?

I did make it to midnight! YAHOOO... the hubs didn't though. He was asleep I think by 8pm. He doesnt stay up late.  & to give him credit, he is up like every 2 hours with a puppy & a blind dog... so he's kinda exhausted all the time now.

Not only did I celebrate the New Years by loving on 3 boys.... Harvey, Ernie & Bruno... Zoe was tucked in her bed in the other room... but I watched Bridget Jones Baby & totally missed the ball drop & had no idea when midnight actually hit.  Oops.

We also got to celebrate another Christmas with our framily & our grandbuddies.

& we even got to do that on my birthday.  Yep... I turned a year older this weekend.

I try to take a picture every year on my birthday

Something that is kinda MEH because yeah, more wrinkles & gray hair & just all the effects of aging... but PRAISE THE LORD because its another year of life ... & life is so valuable & precious & something to cherish so I'm thankful for another year....

So on my birthday, we ran over to see my parents, where my dad made me a homemade dreamscile cake - how cute is that?

& then we were going to head to a wedding, but it was so far out of our way & we ended up getting a late start & had to be back at our friends house, so we had to make the hard call to skip the wedding. I hated it sooo much... it's just hard to get everything in.  I didnt even get to get my birthday dinner in where I get to pick the place we eat... my only chance to make Ricky eat at some place different.

I did get a sweet birthday song from our grandbuddy & my sweet friends got a cheesecake for us to celebrate with.... I really am blessed to have such amazing people in my life that I get to spend my birthday with.

It was so dang cold this weekend... like zero degrees during the day & below zero at night. Not fun when you have to carry a blind dog outside & wait for him to pee & bring him back in.... BRRRRRRRRRRR.... so on New Years Day, we just made the call to stay home & not leave the house in the cold.

I'm so glad we did that.

Ernie will NOTTTTTTT leave Bruno alone

These two kicked out the 2 old babies in the "retirement home" area of the house
I cant believe Harvey even squeezed in that bed

I made it so productive.

I got my Amazon Echo hooked up - FINALLLLYYYY
I got my Christmas stuff all put up.
I did so many loads of laundry, it's kinda ridiculous.
I got some photo editing done.
We got to love on some dogs (they're going to be even sadder that work is back to its regular schedule)

Ernie's 5th week pic

I ordered my first order for Kroger Click it where I can just pick up my groceries at the door. I'm so anxious to see how this works.
I made some crock pot chili.
I watched so much Netflix.... Finished Fuller House, watched Bridget Jones Baby, watched some corny Netflix original Christmas movie (something Christmas Inheritance???) watched most of a Series of Unfortunate Events. I would have finished watching that, but our connection got messed up & I couldnt get anything on Netflix to load anymore.  Sigh...

What I didnt do - any knitting. SHOCKING - I know!!!

But it was a great weekend ... ringing in a new year & getting another year of life behind me.  No complaints.

How was your New Years weekend?

Was it horribly cold where you were at?

Suffering a little getting back into schedule today?

  1. It's been terribly cold around these parts lately! I spent New Years Eve with Netflix as well and that suited me just fine. I took an extra day so I'm not back to the office until tomorrow and I think it's the best choice! A full day to tidy up and relax and when I go back tomorrow there will only be three days left in the week. I'm all about easing slowly into things! :)

P.S. I love the new blog design! I've been out of the blogosphere for awhile and am just getting back to things so forgive me if it's been changed for months and I'm just noticing! Happy New Year!

  3. Happy New Year and Happy Belated Birthday!!! I'm glad you enjoyed the long weekend. It is so cold here that they cancelled schools. My husband words outside, and I'm thankful his boss cancelled work today. It's just way too cold.
I'm fighting a bug, so working from home and planning to rest as much as possible. Here's hoping the rest of the week is better! Good luck getting back to the normal routine this week. Hopefully it goes smoothly and quickly!

  5. I agree that five day work weeks are for the birds! I go back tomorrow! I don't feel bad about going to bed at 10:30 on NYE. I was actually reading a book in front of the fire and could just no longer keep my eyes open!

  8. Happy birthday to you! I agree, it's so hard to go back to work when you have cuddly puppies around. I hated leaving my Baylee this morning but I guess we all need to get back to our routines! It is so cold here too! We haven't hit zero or negative temps yet though. Next week it should be back up in the 40's so that's something to look forward too! What did you think of Bridget Jones's Baby? I wanted to see that too.

  10. Happy Birthday and Happy New Year! I spent New Year Eve in a Nyquil coma unfortunately. I had hoped that my annual Christmas cold skipped me this year but alas, it did not. And even more ironic or irritating, I felt horrible on New Year's Eve until around 10 pm when I started to feel much better. Too late to get cleaned up and do something (plus I'm a nice enough person to not infect people with my cold germs) but it still was frustrating. Oh well. I feel better, which I do appreciate. But I am all screwed up on what day it is. :D Ernie is getting so big! And the cake your Dad made looks delicious!

  11. Love the video of the little one singing to you. So cute. We had a good weekend. We got out each day, but really spent the majority of the weekend inside. We got our tree down and ornaments packed up. Got all the other stuff gathered in one spot. Now have to box them up and move it all to the garage. I also did a bunch of laundry and a very little bit of crochet and watched several really good documentaries. So all in all, it was a great weekend.

  12. Happy belated birthday and Happy New Year! I can't stand this cold ... but on the drive to work this morning, the radio guy asked if people would rather have stifling heat or bone-chilling cold. As long as I have shelter from the wind and access to blankets and hot tea or coffee and a book, I'll pick the cold any day.

This is probably the worst workweek of the year - trying to get back into a groove, already dealing with another short week, and also all the W-2 and tax stuff I put off doing when I was cramming in my last vacation days last week. Oh well.

    Happy 2018 to you!

  15. I think our dogs are the most disappointed about work resuming as usual. I mean, I'm bummed, too, but they got two 4-day weekends in a row. Lol
    Happy belated Birthday!!!
