who knew this would be a blessing?

I'm sitting at my desk, eating my lunch yesterday... nothing special... ordinary day...

chomp... chomp...

wait...what is that?

you have GOT to be kidding me...

My crown came off of my tooth.

If you've been around my blog for awhile, this may seem like a familar story.

A crown came off this SAME tooth about 4 months ago.

I call the dentist & they get me in within 2 hours.

So I go in & tell them I cant believe this happened again... & I'm a nervous wreck.  Why?  Because when the other one came off, my regular dentist was out of the office - I saw the other dentist that works in the office.  She told me the crown was cracked & I had to have a new one.

... THEN, they told me that insurance didnt cover any crown under a year old.  How that made sense, I dont know.  I raised all kinds of questions & they even sent back the office manager with paper work trying to "explain" it to me... needless to say, it didnt matter, I had to have a tooth, so I just said whatever.  And ended up paying $1200 for another crown...

So it being after Christmas, or any time of the year, I just didnt want to part with another $1200....

The dental assistant told me that it fit right back on, it looked good & there would be no charge... THANK YOU LORD!!!  They think I'm still grinding my teeth (even with the mouth guard) loosening up the grip of the crown.

Then she looked in my chart & said, "Explain to me what happened that last time" - I went through the whole story.

She looked up & said, "You shouldnt have been charged... our crowns are guaranteed for 5 years"...

I almost choked...WHAT?!?!?!?!?!??

She went & talked with my dentist who told me also that I shouldnt have been charged for it....

They are now looking into it & she said they should get back with me in the next few days on what they're doing for me...

....I would have never known this if this tooth didnt come out again....

....its just funny when things happen that you think are just horrible, turns out to be a blessing....

but Lord, I'm good... I dont need any more teeth falling out to prove anything :)

  1. When I started reading this post, I thought about the warranty. I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago, and the dentist said that the crown was under warranty.
Maybe, just maybe, you'll get your money back!

  3. I hope you get your money back!!!!

due to the cost of paying for me to be insured on military medical we can only afford for me to have vision OR dental (not both) so I just got my eyes checked, and so we are going to switch over so I can get my teeth looked at! Medical stuff can be such a hassle sometimes :)

  5. WOW! Blessing indeed, friend! Let's hope that you either (a) get a check or (b) have a nice credit on your account for future work. Key work being "future"....like a long ways out into the future! :)

  7. See, this is exactly why I'm not getting old. You're just like my grandmother. Sexy and all! Well, when she was alive and 50 years ago. But still, the spitting image. Wait, what was the point of your post again? Oh, that's right, you're falling apart. Did that shoulder explode yet? Aren't you waiting for that? I, myself, have the body of a 20 year old. A big fat 20 year old but, a 20 year old nonetheless.
Congratulations on the tooth being covered.
Your Peter Pan like Friend, m.
