Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

Friday
the time where Isaac is creeping up to us
Yes - all the way in Indiana...
we're supposed to get up to 6 inches of rain
Looks like a wet Holiday weekend

*****

Anyone else so pumped up to have a Holiday weekend?
An extra day of sleep
... when it needs to be an extra day of laundry, cleaning the house
& getting my garage clean

that's my goal
I want my car out of the rain
poor baby

*****

My jaw still hurts like a son of a gun
its making me have to chew food really slow... & carefully

I need Alicia Silverstone to chew my food & give it to me like a baby bird
(... yes, I too just gagged at that)

*****

See this man?

Source: rickey.org via Diana on Pinterest
He's what's wrong with the world...
at least when it comes to self image for women

They had a challenge on Project Runway to design for an "Ordinary woman"
You'd think they had to design for a giant from Jack & the Beanstalk

That guy repeatedly told his 'client' that she was 'too big' for accessories in the design room.... had her in tears...

I'll give props to the Louisville designer who had fun with it & said he loves designing for ladies of the south, because they have curves...

 *****

Fantasy Football posts are popping up everywhere
I have no idea what Fantasy Football is

In my mind, it would be a team that is throwing glitter & rainbows,
while unicorns are running around the field

Cant get much more fantasy than that!

*****

Anyone else having a hard time finding good oranges?
I may have even said this before...
& I'm STILL looking for some!!!

They all are yucky, or taste like dirt

*****

Confession:  I havent watched one second of the Republican Convention

But I did watch my first episode of Honey Boo Boo

...maybe I'm what's wrong with this world...

*****

Our new addiction:  Edamame
YUM!!
Its been in our basket now for the past few weeks
& the Hubs LOVES it

we have challenges to see who can pop out the beans out of the pods the quickest
...competition makes everything more fun...

*****

Hope everyone has a fantastic Friday!

my mouth is worth more then my car...

I've been living in denial for the past few weeks...

I've had a tooth ache.

I LOATHE dental stuff.... & goodness knows I've been through it all before

so I knew what lay ahead

another root canal... my 8th to be exact

& with each root canal, comes another crown...

Do you have any idea how much each trip to that dentist costs?  I hope you dont because then you have a mouth full of healthy teeth.

Me?  I keep grinding my teeth & breaking them... this is what happened ONCE AGAIN...another cracked tooth.

...I must have some vicious dreams...
...or major stres...

... or both...

I got in the dentist office yesterday at 1:00 ... got in the dentist chair about 1:15... & I didnt sit upright until 6 PM... 6 PM PEOPLE!!! Figure that time out...

that's a long butt load of time

to be in this position

(This is the picture I took to send to Ricky when he asked if they were doing a root canal
... I think it answered the question)

Of course, things dont go easy for me.  One of my canals had an 'issue' & he had to redo it 15 times... FIFTEEN!!!!

(Do you hear my frustration?)

Fifteen times they had to drill the canal, fill it, xray it... & take it out & do it again...

I thought for sure with over 15 x-rays, I was going to walk out glowing & radioactive

AND... on top of all that?  I got lock-jaw.
I've never had my jaws lock in my life... until yesterday...

They heard my jaw pop every time I had to squeeze the side of my face to make it shut.

Whew... I was exhausted...
& broke...

I got home to find my hubby had me a bowl of warm soup waiting for me...
much needed love right there

Then we sat & figured out that my car cost less then the total amount of work in my mouth

... & the worst part?  I still have ugly, crooked teeth...

Life BITES sometimes... just be careful when it bites, that you dont break a tooth

Hodgepodge

Wednesday... about that time..

1. Americans will celebrate Labor Day this coming weekend. Do you know what we're actually celebrating? (without consulting your friends google or wikipedia, ahem) What's a project you're currently 'laboring' over?

Labor Day is an American federal holiday observed on the first Monday in September (September 3 in 2012) that celebrates the economic and social contributions of workers

& of course I didnt consult wikipedia... what would possibly give you that idea....
...ok... maybe I cheated... I just didnt want it to be some sort of military thing & I didnt know & then looked like I hated my country.
... I put too much stress on myself...

Anyhoo... I'm laboring on cleaning out my garage right now.  With a new car, I dont want to leave it outside... it might get rain or too much sunshine on it.... & with snow coming soon?  I want it tucked in my garage.  I now have leather seats - I dont want icicles on my butt when I sit on it in the winter.

2. Labor Day also signifies the unofficial end of summer for most of us...what summer food will you miss the most? If you live in the Southern hemisphere feel free to substitute winter for summer.

I already miss fresh strawberries... but I'll miss yellow squash too... we've been downing it this year.

3. A well known proverb states, "It's easier to seek forgiveness than ask permission." Your thoughts?

depends... I know a lot of people who dont 'forgive' easily or very well... so then, you'd just be screwed...

I just wish I knew this well-known-proverb when I was young... I coulda done a lot more stuff...
... & be grounded a lot more too...

4.  Food critic, film critic, art critic, book critic...which hat would you most like to wear?

Well, I do review a lot of books for some publishers so I first think, "book critic" - but I think I'm better with the title of "art critic" & by art, I mean things in photography

Now that I do pictures, look at pictures, study pictures... sorry people, but I disect everyone's photos... see the things that I would have done differently, changed, edited out, edited differently.. & see the things I love, want to steal the idea, want to try...

Plus, art critic makes me sound so cool... right?

5.  When you were a kid, (besides your parents) who was your favorite adult?

Since we cant say parents, I'm just going with the idea of no family members...
dont want to step on anyones toes :)

I loved this man at church - his name was Herb... He would be waiting for me at the doors of church every Sunday with a piece of chewing gum.  I'm telling you EVERY.SUNDAY... Juicy Fruit Banana Flavor... I still smell it & think of him all these years later

... & today, when I go to the dentist to get scheduled for my 8th root canal, I'll think of him once again

6. The astronaut Neil Armstrong passed away last week. He was regarded as a hero by many generations of people all around the world. Do we still have modern day heroes? What makes someone a hero?

I think we still have heroes...
A hero to me is someone who inspires... someone to helps others... someone who doesnt take 'no' for an answer...

I think people who are missionaries are heroes...
I think men/women in the military are heroes...
I think fireman & policemen are heroes...

I even think people who do things I dont think I could ever do are heroes...
Like this woman... Sister Madonna Buder... she's 82 & just did the Ironman!  Seriously... 82 yrs old & knocked out 140 miles... & do you see her?  She's smiling?
Yep... she's a hero in my book...

so I think the definition of hero is subjective & personal

7. I never get tired of __________________.

Laughing :)

8. Insert your own random thought here.

I got my hair 'did' last night & I swear... I dont know HOW they get it so straight..

My stylist chopped it up a little more to give it some bounce... I'm loving it...

Prepared...

We headed down to another year of cheering on the Ironman athletes...

Its crazy what you see when you witness people running a full marathon, after you know they've been up since 5 am.... they've swam 2.5 miles & biked over 112 miles...

you look at their legs & think, "they've got to be worn out"

but you see people just moving along, looking strong, not even seeming out of breath, almost like they are ENJOYING this...

like its just another day... just another stroll through the park

...and then there are some others...

the ones you see that look like they cant take one more step...the ones that look like they are literally going to collapse any minute

Ricky & I were talking about that later & he asked, "Do you think they just didnt train for it right?"

& I know a lot of factors go into it... some days, you just feel off... might not have ate well the night before... maybe just feeling a little ill & decided to try the event anyways... lots of reasons...

but I do think people dont train correctly...

I did that myself
....my first half marathon
... didnt really realize what lay ahead.  I got up to 8 miles in training,  & thought, I can do 13.1 easily after that..

BBOOOYYYYYY, I was wrong... I still think back at that 'wall' I hit & wonder how I didnt die... I felt like I was close to seeing the light... & I woulda ran to it to feel better.

Sometimes, we just feel prepared ... when we're really not...

I think about the situations of life that come our way & how we may think we're prepared... we can handle it... we've got enough under out belts to know how to handle it...

but are we fully prepared?

Do we have Jesus on our side?

I think sometimes we think we've got it covered... we know what lays ahead
... & really, we have no idea how tough it can get...

Just wanted to remind everyone to be prepared completely for what the race of life holds for you...
Have Jesus there with you
... He'll get you through those 'walls'
... He'll help you put one foot in front of the other...

... Dont go through life unprepared...

Weekend Wrapup

Well, as my dad noticed, the widget that I was using for Instagram updates with every picture... so when I would take a new picture, it would shift all the pictures that I had posted... so you'd look back & see a description for a picture that wasnt even there anymore... boo!!!!   So I'm back to individual pictures...

Another BUSY weekend... I literally was up & out early, home late... YAWN...
I need a vacation

Friday

* Ricky's wreck... He was fine.  A lady just ran out of a stop sign & right into his side...its always something, aint it?  But praising God that Ricky wasnt hurt...

* ROCK BAND...It didnt hold Ricky up... he still was ready to go to the Youth After Hours... it was a great turn out & these kids are just the best kids ever.  So polite, so kind to each other...No drama... lots of fun... I even got to play Rock Band (picture above) & rocked the mic...I totally learned the words to Michael Jackson's "Beat It"... I cant even tell you how WRONG I had the lyrics before this night.

Saturday

* Tires....we headed out of the house at 9 am to get new tires on Ricky's truck since he now has to drive that every day to work... Went to Sam's Club, which is nice to wait while they're putting them on.  Finally got "The Hunger Games" DVD

* Lunch time... headed to Q'doba - I'm now addicted to the 3 cheese nachos with rice & black beans... I dont think I've been that full in a LONG time..

* Dreaming of Healing.....Had to head to Wal-mart to pick up some totes & while Ricky was looking at something, I found this magazine.  Now, I cant knit anymore with my bicep tendonitis.  I knit about one row & am in such pain, I cry... so Ricky was like, "put that back"... but it had such cute patterns in it.  I told Ricky I'm just holding out faith that it heals... I want knitting needles in my hands again... & now, I've got some cute patterns that I'm planning on making first.

* Good Samaritian.....One more stop to Home Depot to pick up a garbage can... We look and see this lady in one of those motorized carts that stores provide... It was not going anywhere.  Ricky popped out of this car & asked if he could help.  She asked him if he could push her to the store.  Can you see the angle he is leaning?  It about killed him... & the lady?  So sad to say, she was so ungrateful too...I think she thought Ricky worked there when he came up & asked if they needed help.  Never said thanks - really short & snarky with him.  Ricky just said, "I didnt do it for her, I did it for God"... ahh...he's better then me - I told him I woulda poked her in the eyes & ran... not really, but in my mind, I would have.

* Finally home & worked on pictures... (I'll post those later)

Sunday

Middle school small group... was totally shocked when they couldnt answer the question, "if you would be any character in a movie, who would it be?"... you'd think I'd asked, "What is the meaning of E=MC2?" ... of course, they answered the question FOR me... Belle... no doubts or second thoughts...

* Got a surprise!!!  My awesome friend Chasity brought me back a surprise from Women of Faith... this t-shirt... its doubly meant for me... first?  a camera... second?  the scripture is what this blog title is about.  Being Knit by God's hand in Psalm... being fearfully & wonderfully made... this just made my entire day!!!

* Headed out to the IRONMAN!!!  ... these people just blow my mind.  Ricky went with me & got to see it for the first time... he even 'hooted & hollared' for the runners.  But he also heard them say, "thank you" when he cheered them on... I dont think people realize how much that pushes you on to have people rooting you on.  We tried to get down by the finish line but it was so PACKED... but I saw the athletes that came through the finish line collapsing at the medic tent.  Over 10-17 hours of movement... I dont see how they do it.

Best part?  There was a guy running who looked JUST LIKE Forrest Gump.. had the beard, the hair, the hat, the knee high socks, the same outfit & even a smiley face t-shirt... I had to yell, RUN FORREST, RUN!!!  He gave me a nod & a smile!

* Grocery store for the final stop... whew... we got home about 8:00 & we both were beat.

Now - time to start a new week... let's get it done... we have a a HOLIDAY WEEKEND ahead! YAHHOOO!!!!

Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

This.has.been.the.LOONNNGGGESSTTT.week.EVER!!!!
Yes - every word deserved a period after it to drag out the sentence like my week has been drug out... ugggghhh!!!!

*****

Its a busy weekend (as usual)

Tonight?  After Hours!!!!

Its our Youth Pastor's idea of a Lock-in - except they dont stay overnight
YES!!!
The kids were a little upset about it at first,
but we reminded them that once you get past midnight,
everyone is sleepy, cranky ... & let's face it...
just plain stinks

so this is a better plan
Kicking them out early... we get to sleep in our own beds
YES!

*****

Its also the same weekend for Women of Faith
I had to make the choice to go or stay

I just feel my call is youth ministry
& even though its just a night of fun, its still connections that you make
so I chose to stay...

if I get pizza puked up on me, I'll probably regret my choice

*****

This weekend?  Another big event?
IRONMAN

The streets will be full of athletes that I am in total awe of!!
They swim... they bike... they run
for a total of 140 miles...

I'll never do it,
so I'll do what I do best
SCREAM!!!!!
& cheer them on!!!

Ricky is going with me so he can witness it himself
... & then we're headed to the fair for some fried foods...
seems about right

******

I'm still all "new car paranoid"... or NCP
kinda like OCD but with different letters
(I know that makes no sense... its Friday... my brain is fried)

But I have black carpet, black leather seats, black dashboard
& every piece of grass on the carpet,
every piece of dust on the dashboard
its driving me crazy

I told Ricky I need to keep a fund of spare change so I can stop at the vacuum cleaner every Friday & clean my carpets.
I already have a container of wipes for my dashboard.

& I already told Ricky, during winter, when snow gets on our shoes?
I'm making everyone take their shoes off & put in the back in plastic bags.
too much to ask?

*****

Who do you think got the job to tell Queen Elizabeth about Harry's "Vegas Adventures"?

Do you think she just expects his behavior now?

We'll keep him clothed on this site... I'm actually too embarassed to put the Vegas pictures up...

I still love the kid... he just seems real...

*****

What is the deal?

Leave Lance Armstrong ALONE!!!!

I think the whole thing is just sad ... & stupid...
You're going to strip away his titles & ban him from cycling?
Seriously?
For a guy who NEVER tested positive?

We live in a world that love to tear people down
I dont get it

*****

Any Big Brother Fans?

Ricky & I were literally high fiving & screaming last night
Frank is Da MAN!!!!

I'm rooting so hard for this guy...
the whole house is against him, but he just keeps a cool personality
odds are, he wont win... but I'm still rooting for him

*****

Here's a good example of the stupid things in life that make me laugh
I honestly laughed till I cried when I first saw this...
.. & I still laugh when I look at it..
I dont even know why

*****

Spat of the week:  The whole car buying experience

We'll just wrap it up with one title

I get stressed in situations like that...
I just want someone to tell me what to do

Is this a good deal?
Is the car ok?
Should I buy this?

I just want a straight answer & when Ricky would say, "What do you want to do?" - I just wanted to kick him in his shins...

this is the one time in life that I bring up the scripture of 'wives submitting to your husband'

JUST TELL ME WHAT TO DO...

& then he tells me to get the car, & then I'm like
"WHY DID YOU TELL ME TO GET THIS CAR?"

not really... but kinda...

Big purchases... a spat waiting to happen

*****

Hope you all have a Fabulous Friday!!!!

Only took 8 years...

So its not going to surprise anyone when I say that Ricky & I are opposites in a lot of ways...

I'm loud.. he's not
I'm a talker... he doesnt have a lot to say (unless its about UK basketball)
I dont meet a stranger... he likes to stay the stranger

I've worked in youth ministry at my current church now for 8 years...
Ricky never even heard me teach a class until this year...

It just wasnt his thing to sit in a room full of kids that scream & run around & talk ALOT
... but I understood...
if its not your thing, its not your thing

But lately, with Ricky coming to hear me teach, he's found out just how awesome youth ministry is...

& now... look what he's filling out...

Yep... The Hubs is venturing into Student Ministry!!!

I'm so excited to have him there ... see all the amazing things that happen with these kiddos.

& while he wont be up front teaching, he's still going to make a difference... helping out where he's needed, working behind the scenes... & I've already seen the competitive side of him when it comes to youth games...

these kids bring out the competitive side in you... believe me...

& while I know Ricky doesnt feel like he'll make that big of a difference in a kids life, I know that when these kids see someone who is just willing to give up some of their time to hang out with them & help out - well, THAT makes the biggest difference of all...

Ricky's getting a great first hand experience tomorrow as our church is doing a big event for the Student Ministry... a night full of hyped up kids, that will be downing pizza & playing games & running around the church for 4 hours...

Nothing like diving into youth ministry with the chance there will be puked up pizza...

So I just wanted to brag on my husband... he's making big steps... for God...

I'm kinda proud of him....

Hodgepodge

Half way through the work week...that means its Hodgepodge time

1. Aloha! On August 21, 1959 Hawaii officially became a US State...have you ever been? Upon arrival would you prefer an orchid or a hibiscus to tuck behind your ear?

Never been... never plan on it...

First of all - know how far Hawaii is from Indiana?  Do you KNOW how long that means I'd have to be on a plane...ohhhhhh nooooooooo thank you!

Give me the Tiki Lounge in Disney World & I'm happy enough

2. Since we're talking tropical...what's your favorite food or beverage made with pineapple?

I love Pineapple...

Ricky & I love to juice pineapples... mix it with anything & its yummy.

Our favorite probably was Pineapples with apples & Blackberries...not only does it taste wonderful, its just pretty!!!

3. Do you believe in soul mates? Explain.

Soul Mates... it has to exist, right?  After all, there are movies that show that it exists...

Source: imdb.com via Michelle on Pinterest

Remember this one?  Chances Are... where Cybil Sheperds husband dies but he needs to be with his soul mate & comes back in Robert Downey Jr.'s body...

Oh wait... she ends up marrying his best friend in the end

Nevermind... no... soul mates dont exist

4. Share a memory about the house you grew up in

I remember growing up, we didnt have central air.  We only had window units.  During the day, certain rooms would have the AC on... we had one in the living room, one in the kitchen & one in the bedroom.  During the day, the kitchen would be on.  If company was coming, living room... & then at night, my parent's room would have the AC on.  My brother & I would sleep on the floor on foam matresses & we'd bring the dog in there too & then shut the door to keep it cool in there.

A whole family in one tiny room....great memories...
& even better?  I remember waking up FREEZING in that room...
Then you didnt want to open the door because you'd feel the heat just hit you in the face...

Back to the kitchen for the day where that AC would run...

Central Air ruined family gatherings :)

5.  Are you comfortable with silence?

No - I hate it...

Someone told me that if you're not comfortable in silence, then you're not comfortable with yourself

Call it whatever you want, I like noise... even white noise... noise that I dont even pay attention too.

I am the only person in the office that keeps a radio on all day... the day seems so much slower if there is no sound going on...

Ricky will even drive with the radio off & that drives me crazy... how do you not sing while you drive?  Its virtually impossible for me.  I'd just sit in the middle of the road not knowing how to work the pedals if music werent flowing...

6. You spot a giant spider on your bedroom wall...what's your next move? (all spiders are giant, right?)

I would take it outside...
Seriously...

I'm the one who people call in the office when there's a bug...
I hate to kill them - so I usually get a piece of paper, have them crawl on it & then take them outside to a bush & say "Run Free"

now, if its HUGE... like the kind that will eat your face off... Ricky will usually kill them around the house because we dont want them to bite our dogs.  Our Aussie is so allergic to everything, so we dont take chances when it comes to them.

Otherwise, spiders dont bug me... haha - get that little pun...

7.  My idea of fun does NOT include_____________.

Gambling
Heights
Airplanes
Sand
High Heels
Humidity

(random enough?)

8 Insert your own random thought here.

So a year later & my Bicep Tendonitis is still miserable...
its coming to the point where I need to decide if I want to do surgery or just keep trying alternative ways of trying to heal it...

I'm always in the search for alternative ways...
what if they cut the bicep tendon & then its even MORE painful ... then what do you do?  They've cut it!!!

I'm thinking of trying more massages & I also read up on Tumeric...
yeah - that spice in curry... they sell it in supplements.

Its supposed to be a major anti-inflammatory - & I read that it has helped with tendonitis...

so Amazon to the rescue..
it should be here by the weekend.... I just hope I dont smell like an Indian restaurant

Elementary, my dear teachers...

Its the first day of school for the Louisville area...

where I live, school has been in for 2 weeks... those Louisville kids are dumber... KIDDING!

but Facebook is fired up with 'first day of school' pictures today...

remember how exciting that day was?

I always loved it because I was the nerd that liked school.  Really... I enjoyed it.  I liked learning, reading, seeing friends... & it also always meant a few more new clothes & shoes.

I'm also the nerd that loved to go school supply shopping.

I still get giddy when I see Target has the new school supplies out... & now?  They'll be on clearance.  My office supply nerdy heart will be there... with a big basket...

Pens.. notebooks...binders... & yes, I still buy Disney Princess folders for myself.
...no comments please....

But I was thinking this morning about all the teachers I had through the years...

its weird, because middle school to high school - you get bombarded with teachers.  6-7 teachers every year...& while I had some of my favorites that stick out, in that span of middle school to high school, I honestly only remember a handfull...

It was my elementary school teachers that really impacted me....
maybe because it was when you're so young & afraid of doing things yourself...
maybe because they spend all day with you & not just an hour out of each day...
maybe because that's where a foundation is being laid...

But they were awesome

1st grade... Miss Clayton - the ideal first grade teacher ever.  She was fun, bubbly, caring, nuturing... & she always put a smiley face at the end of her name.  (How do I still remember that?)... she was the only single teacher I ever had too.  The only "Miss"

2nd grade... Mrs. Johnson - very strict, but not harsh in the way she implemented strictness... I think her structure is what got me to love the concept of learning...

3rd grade... Mrs. Swartz - isnt that a great name?  I can remember she had twin daughters.  She had a great laugh... one of those that her face would turn red when she would laugh really hard.  I can remember her spelling tests every week in this grade.

4th grade... Mrs. Voltz - she was the 'one you didnt want' when you were a kid.  Why?  Because she seemed to harsh & mean.  She looked like a stern woman.  Tall, an over powering presence... had SHORT hair like a man.  This was in the 70's & not something you saw a lot.  It was more "comb backs" & perms at the time... but she was great.  She let me help in the room a lot - gave me some responsibilities as a room monitor.... this was the year we learned cursive writing... oohhhh....

5th grade... Mrs. Miller... The teacher that beats all teachers... She was incredible.  She was all the ideas of a great teacher in one.  Strict, but funny.  Watching every move you made, but gave some leeway.  Could take something complicated & make it easy to understand.  When the end of the year came, you can ask my mom - we still laugh about this - I CRIED for DAYS about leaving her.  She was that fantastic as a teacher.  All my friends in our class cried too... we didnt want to ever have another class where she didnt teach.  .....I later learned she left teaching & became a Minister.  Not that long ago, I saw an article about her ministry & the church that she has led over the years & the work she's done.  Nothing less then what I would think she would do...

Teachers... they make an impact... from the beginning...to the end...

Do you have a favorite teacher you had in your lifetime?  What grade was it & what made them so special?

Look.. an interactive blog post today.. I cant wait to hear your answers...

Weekend Wrapup

(If you're viewing in Google Reader, the pictures wont show up... so come on over & visit my blog... you know you want to see the pictures yourself)

BIG WEEKEND!!!!!  You'll see in the first 2 pictures what happened...

1.  Good bye old friend... I actually teared up when they got in my Santa Fe & pulled off... I loved that car.  It was a good one through the years.  Really never had manjor problems with it & it got me through the past 6 years.  I left my magnet knitting needles on the back as a tribute....

2. Hello new friend ... FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  How long have I been looking for a car?  Its been about 3 months now.  I finally walk away with a Ford Edge... Its got a double moon roof, which makes me want to look up instead of on the road... & it had leather.  UGH - I hate leather... but Ricky (& the sales guy) was convincing me how nice it is to clean.  I just know my butt & back of my legs burn on it.  I have to say, its not a "new" car - but it still has that new car smell... Now, the rule? No eating or drinking in my car... at least for the first few months while I enjoy the cleaness of a fresh car.

3.  Photo Shirts.... Chasity & I went out on probably one of the MOST FUN photo shoots ever.  We had a little 7 yr old - who LOVVVVED the camera.  We would tell her where to go & she would instantly give me pose after pose.  I bet anything, when these pictures are edited up?  They're going to be in my top 3 favorite sessions.... but Chasity & I got to sport our new photo shirts for the session.  Arent they cute?  I really like the way they turned out... now, I'm going to order some more in black.  And how about an 80's irritating color - like neon green?

4.  That's a nap.... Ricky was tired after getting our yard all beautified... Sydney didnt want to miss out on a nap with her daddy.  She's gotten too old to jump on the bed now, but I lifted her up there so she could lay next to his legs... it didnt take long, she was snoring... doesnt that picture just make you want to take a nap yourself?

5.  Sweet Treat ... The Hubs has a sweet tooth - anyone that knows him knows this.  So he has been begging me for weeks to make this for him.  I had some time after my morning run & decided to get to cooking... OH  MY... this is a chocolate chip cookie OVER a brownie... YUMMMMM...he was like a little kid staring in the oven, waiting for the timer to go down.  And let it cool?  PULEEZZEE!!!... he was scooping it out hot & gooey... just how he likes it.

6. Jim Bob... We took some pizza over & had dinner with mom & dad on Friday & look at the new little visitor... or new little home resident.  This cat showed up at their house Friday morning... its the sweetest little thing. A purring monster.  & yes, she's a girl.. but my mom wanted to name it after her brothers... so its name is Jim Bob... as of now.  The twins want to name it other things - so we'll see what the final name is.

Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

Friday... YES!!!

*****

Another beautiful weekend on tap...
& another fun photo session up for grabs
....a 7 yr old SASSY Diva...
not my words, but her mom's
... I love SASSY...

*****

I'm having an 80's mourning period today
Journey, Pat Benatar & Loverboy is in concert tonight
... & I'm not going...
between KISS & the upcoming Broadway of Beauty & the Beast
& also wanting to get tickets for Wicked
well....I didnt have the funds to do one more show

So tonight... I'll put on my Journey CD
& shine my flashlight around the room
& pretend I'm at the concert

*****

OK... I know I'm a loner in this...
I'm not afraid to say it though...
...I like Miley Cyrus's new hair cut...
while I do think she looked 'prettier' in her old do
I think she looks 'edgy & young' in the new do
You're only young once

*****

EEEKKKK!!!!
I picked up my co-op basket yesterday
There were 8 ears of corn on the cob
Ricky loved it the last time I made it so he was pumped for dinner

I opened up 2 of them only to see WORMS all over the top of them
One - the worm was so freaking big & had literally ate the ENTIRE top of the cob
it was sludgy even

I got the rest of the corn out of my frig, looked in the drawer
....worms...
IN MY FRIG
I was just freaked out

it all went in the garbage!!!

This is organic & not sprayed so its to be expected I guess
but I was so freaked out, I just tossed it all

... & then I had nightmares of my frig being taken over by worms...

******
I stayed up to watch The Glee Project Season Finale on Tuesday
... felt like a 13 yr old cheering on Blake...
& thought he was the one least likely to get picked
... & HE WON!!!...

I REALLY felt like a 13 yr old girl squealing...
& then my alarm went off the next morning at 5:30 AM
& I didnt feel anything like a 13 yr old girl anymore
My age caught up with me quick... YAWN...

*****

We really live in a world where Honey-Boo-Boo gets a reality show?

*****
Any other So You Think You Can Dance fans?
I was so excited to see a Mia Michael's flashback show
... until I saw the dances again...
I loved the dances... but none of the people were as good as the originals
... that was disappointing...

Now, we need a Nappy-Tab flashback show

*****

I'm kinda addicted to this song lately...Shake it Out

But even more so because I saw it on Travis Wall's new dance show...
check out this routine.
AWESOMENESS in motion!!!

& look - in his company is a lot of SYTYCD peeps
Melanie... Allison... Nick...the chick with the bright red lipstick that got kicked off this year... the guy that I LOVED that got eliminated in the final round last year & they cut early during auditions this year...
good stuff!!!

Hodgepodge

About that Hodgepodge Time

1. I included this quote (attributed to William H. Danforth) in my blog post on Monday..."The best cure for a sluggish mind is to disturb its routine." When was the last time you 'disturbed your routine' and how'd you do it?

I'm a routine kinda gal... something gets off & I'm a mess...

I'm even talking at work... my morning mail gets to me around 8... if it comes early ,or late, my whole day is thrown off...

that's how crazy I am... (& you thought I was only a little crazy)

2.  What's your favorite fried food indulgence?

I'm on an Onion Ring kick right now...just give me an order & no one will get hurt.

The State Fair starts tomorrow here & "Fried" is all that you smell once you step through the gates.  I'm afraid of most of the food though... a Twinkie is awful enough for your body... to fry it as well?  I hope they have EMS standing by each 'fried booth'

3.  Did you have an allowance as a kid? What did you do with it? Do you give your own kids an allowance?

I never did get an allowance...

In my family, it was just being part of the family to help... no payment required..

I dont have children to give allowances, but I do give bones to my dogs for not peeing in the house... is that the same?

4. What's something you wish you knew more about?

I wish I knew more about what it feels like to be a Billionaire....

5. Is there anything you feel too old to do anymore? If so, what?

I'm too old to wear pigtails...
Ha... who am I kidding... I wear them all the time

I actually feel too old to do 90% of the stuff that I still do...

gotta keep trucking along

6.   What's a song you think has a great first line?

Come on... you that know me, already know what I'm going to say...

"Tale as old as time...
true as it can be...
barely even friends...
then somebody bends, unexpectedly"

All together now... collective sigh for "Beauty & the Beast"

7. Who are you writing to/for when you create a blog post. In other words...as you write, who is the audience in your head?

Depends... but usually I write for myself... for memories sake.

I like to write things that God teaches me...I like to remember stories of life, even the spats I have with my husband... I like to store pictures to look back & say, "Wow, look how young we were then"... I like to see memories of my running/races...

I've learned that when I try to write to please people, then its just a chore & not enjoyable... but as long as I write just for me, then when I look back at a post, its not about anything but bringing a smile to my face & saying, "I remember that"

8. Insert your own random thought here.

So here's one of the pics of the little girl that I got to take a picture of this weekend for a cake smash... is this face the cutest little face?

No one thinks my face is that cute when I have icing smeared all over it....

Happy Wednesday friends....

I have fizz in my life again...

We're coming up on 6 months...

6 months of NO DIET COKE!!!

I was addicted like someone you would see on "Intervention"...

But I broke the habit...

& honestly, I have to say it again, if I can do it, you can do it...

But now?  I have a new addiction...

Sparkling Seltzer Water!!!!
Even better?  ... in a can!!!!

So its that old feeling of having a can in my hand

& its bubbly & fizzy in my mouth!

Now I've gone the past 5 months with just tea & water... & its been fine...
but I've just missed that fizz

& then when we went to Nashville, I saw Julie was drinking this...
I gave it a try

... & I thought it was an Alka-seltzer...
...thought I may vomit...

but its like Diet Coke
I didnt like that at first either

so I just drank one every day
& now?  I love it...

I now have fizz back in my life...

Anyone else care for Seltzer water?

(Note - if you try to substitue this for soft drinks, read the ingredients... some have some artifical sweetners in them... find the ones that have just "carbonated water" & no juice)

Weekend Wrapup

Friday

* The cool weather kicked in... it felt like Fall... the clouds looked grey & fluffy - the wind was cool & chilly... what a difference from what we've been going through lately

* Started a new book "Monday with my Old Pastor" ... I'm so deeply in love with it already.  I have highlighted half of the book already...

*A new (good) book & cool weather?  That means being out front in my rocker...

*Out front?  These two dogs dont care for each other, but they'll act like they do if that means they can sit out front with me for a few minutes...

*Sleep with the windows open... aahhhh....

Saturday

*So glad it was Saturday... when you sleep with the windows open, its just a different sleep... & I was glad I didnt have anywhere to be early so I could just lay in bed & enjoy the coolness

*Time to start it up again... training...Want to do a Fall Half Marathon, which means the training kicks in NOW...Ricky started as well, but he can do the advanced training.  Me?  I'll just focus on what I always do - just finishing... not so worried about being super speedy.  Its not in my DNA

*Cleaning time... On a mission to clean the house a bit... even got carpets outside & cleaned them in the nice weather

*While being out front - what do I see?  Two HUGE deers running across my front yard... around noon!!!... that surprised me...

*Headed out to pick up a shower head... yes, Ricky put one up for me last week, but that cheesy thing broke when he put it up... thank goodness I got it free to review from Amazon.  I'd be mad if we had to pay money for it...

*Sam's Club... we took a break & sat down for a bit... ahhh

*Got home late...today could not have been longer.. or more beautiful...

Sunday

*Men's Marathon... GO MEB!!!!... but what the heck happened to Ryan Hall? & Abdi?  ... that's gotta be so disappointing for them to have a DNF in the Olympics...

*Church ... its been fun because they're doing a series talking about running.  They interviewed me & 3 others who have ran a race & they've been playing the segments before the messages.  Today?  my segment included me saying "diarrhea" on the big screen....& know what?  No one was surprised at all...

*Quick lunch with the hubs... because we headed to meet my next Bride & Groom...They came in super prepared.  Love that... Cant wait to be a part of this wedding - its totally going to be exactly who this couple is

*Off to pick up a birthday cake for my next stop...

*Cake Smash session with a 1 yr old... its interesting doing a 1 yr old picture because you totally work on THEIR time.  She was on the go & didnt want to sit down for a picture, but I got some great expressions... & when we finally pulled out the cake, she was all about that.. "mo... mo... mo"... its her way of saying "MORE" - I learned that quick! :)
(I'll post pictures soon of this beautiful face)

*EXHAUSTED!!!!.... this weekend wiped us out!  we got home to watch Big Brother - I totally missed the Closing Ceremonies... I was just ready for bed...

onto another week...
