I had surgery and can't run for a month or so. Boo. And I feel so bloated from surgery that it does nothing for my self esteem. Give me all the candy too!!! Ha. But at least you are keeping at it. It was definitely anxiety & depression.. but once I got back into a routine & kept with the workouts, I started feeling better. I have been told by a few people that the muscle memory comes back quickly though so maybe take comfort in that! And yes, balance is the key word in nutrition.
