The weekend that I ran a 5k with a broken tooth....

I'm sitting back in the dark this morning....

The only down fall of having the time change.  I was just starting to enjoy the sun rising as I drive into work at 6:30am ... but now, its like driving through a dark, dank nightmare again... at least for awhile.  I'll take it though for more light in the evening.  & I know the sun will come again.  Like everything else - it just takes time.

But it does feel like I was just sitting at this desk a blink ago.  The weekend went by in a blur.

I made sure to get to bed early on Friday - only after I got a few hours of knitting in... wanted to be race ready for the Anthem 5K.

When the alarm went off at 6:00am & I turned on the news & saw the temps outside was 28 degrees, I almost decided to just say, forget it, & stay warm in my covers & go back to sleep.  But I knew I'd beat myself up & I got up & started getting ready.

Ricky is the one who went back & forth about going.  He works so hard during the week & being back in the cold, putting more pounding on his legs & feet, he was debating it. I would never blame him if he didn't do a race with me. But I do enjoy him being with me.

Let's just say it felt good to be back in a race. It was slow... it was cold... it made me feel proud of myself to be back out there.

& yeah, it was a little painful.  I haven't mention this, but I have apparently cracked yet ANOTHER tooth.  I go to the dentist about it on Wednesday.  But I have been sleeping without my tooth guard & Ricky said he could even hear me lately grinding my teeth in my sleep, so apparently I have done what I'm good at.  Cracking these babies.  My poor teeth can't catch a break.

So needless to say, running & getting blood pumping had my teeth really pounding in my head.  Just another thing...

my life motto lately

We finished the race, had to walk our OTHER 5k to get back to our car (a whole other story) & did our race routine of heading to Panera. The best part of race day. 

Then we went furniture shopping. 

We took extra clothes to put on & instead of changing, I just put jeans over top of my leggings ... & I had on 5 layers of shirts.  Let's just say I felt like the kid from A Christmas Story walking through the stores.  Puffy isn't the word.  Goodness knows I was warm.

We got home Saturday afternoon & Ricky was just full of basketball games to watch.  I ended up just knitting, playing Trivia Crack & taking it easy.

yep - ANOTHER weekend I put off cleaning my house. Oops.

Sunday, I went to Merge Youth group & then I had to head out for a quick mini session.  I'm getting a lot of surprise birth announcements so I can't post anything for pictures taken... drats.... but I'm totally good with it.  I'll be in on the secret with others.  I'm really good at secret keeping.

I met up with Ricky after the mini session & we had to get to Target. I can't make it through a weekend without Target.  We went back & picked up my furniture to start the redo of my office/knitting room. I can't wait to get it going.

Though, when I talk about wanting to paint it, I just hear nothing but grunts & sighs from Ricky... & he doesn't trust me with a paint brush.  No fair.... though I really can't blame him... I can't even do my nails very well.

It was such a beautiful Sunday!  The sun was shining, I didn't need a coat, the snow is melting everywhere.  I can smell Spring in the air.... FINALLY!!!

The only down side of snow melting... a muddy puppy.  Oh my gosh.  Ricky & I got home & opened the door to carry the furniture in, only to see my kitchen floor looking pretty much like a mud pit. Not even joking in the slightest.  I was too shocked to even take a picture.  My floor even had hunks of grass on it from Harvey's feet.... with rain being called for a few days this week, I'm just counting on my kitchen to take on the new color of BROWN.

(Maybe all this mud staining will convince Ricky to let me get a new kitchen floor & maybe MAYBE start an idea of a kitchen renovation that I want so badly... fingers crossed)

I closed out the weekend with The Walking Dead (its getting SOOO good) & getting ready to try & adjust to the time change.  Sunday isn't a big deal.  This morning?  A big deal.  The alarm goes off at 5... which is really 4....

Help me Lord Jesus.

Neutrogena Naturals Towelettes

 

I've never gotten on the 'towelette' band wagon before because my face is so sensitive to products.  Plus, I'm picky about ingredients that are in most of them.  Also, I think the word "Towelettes" is just weird.  Anyways. I found these & LOVE them.  They wipe off eye make up & clean my face.  I love that I can sit on my couch & finish watching my nightly TV while cleaning my face. #lazy

What I'm Thankful For This Week:

~Made it home safely during the latest winter snow storm. I couldn't even make it up the drive way because it was covered in icy slush. I literally couldn't go forward & I couldn't stop when I was hitting my brakes & rolling backwards.  I was just thankful a car wasn't coming because I rolled right out in the middle of the road. 


~ Also thankful we got to leave to go home early from work before the snow storm him on Wednesday.  Poor Ricky - along with every one in town - sat for hours on the main highway.  I would have just died.


~Isaac was OK after getting a good knock in the head.  This is his 2nd run in during recess. & by 'run in' - I mean a literal RUN INTO something.  Kids are made rugged though & Isaac was fine after having to stick around the ER for awhile to make sure he was alright.  Whew.

~ Kroger Fuel Points. I don't know who thought of this idea, but I take advantage of it whenever I can.  Getting 30 cents off this time, it had me at $1.89 a gallon.  That makes me feel like I'm in my 20's again.... a long far past.


~ A cuddly dog.  Harvey is all about being hugged & loved on... & most importantly, held while he's sleeping.  I love that about him.

~ Warm Towels. During the cold winter, I love getting towels out of the dryer when I take a shower.  I think I need one of those Towel Warmers that I've seen at Bed Bath & Beyond.  Nothing better then a warm towel.


~ Finding cheap reading glasses.  I need to have at least 10 pairs so I can have them laying everywhere.

~ Our neighbors dogs.  I love having extra fur babies show up at my car door when I pull up from home to greet me.  I can never get enough doggie greetings.

~ Speaking of neighbors - I'm thankful for our sweet neighbors who sent us some wind chimes in memory of Michael.  They are so beautiful. Each chime has a poem about the ones angels we have in Heaven... so thoughtful, so beautiful.

~ The hope of Spring... We're sitting in about 8 inches of snow & its going to get down to 0 degrees tonight, but the rumor is that its going to be nearing the 60's next week.  Please Lord, let it be so.

I confess

.... I can't believe we're going to get another snow storm.  A possible FOOT of snow coming tonight into tomorrow?  I had just bragged that we had a pretty easy winter.  Well, I guess all this snow is my fault. #Jinx

... I used the sentence "Winter is throwing up on us again" to describe our weather today to someone #snowiswintervomit

... I have about 5 slices of bread in my cabinet.  & with snow storm warnings out, I know the shelves are cleared out of bread.  Funny thing, I hardly eat anything using bread, but just knowing I'm out of it & I'll probably be home all day tomorrow, I'm panicked about it. #snowedinandbreadless

... all this melting snow from the last storm?  My car smells like water is getting in... it stinks like mildew.  I'm ready to hang a dozen air fresheners from my rear view mirror. #newcarsmellnomore

... I don't get why everyone is so angry at William Shatner for missing Leonard Nimoy's funeral.  The guy honored his commitment to do a charity event. It's not like he was out partying in Vegas & decided not to make it.  People are so judgmental.  #leaveCaptainKirkalone #livelongandprosper

So I think that guy that did the painting of Bill Clinton is nothing but a jerk.  You wait until the President & his wife are taking their pictures in front of this painting & THEN  you come out & say you snuck in a shadow of the 'blue dress'?  I don't care if you're a fan or not of Mr. Clinton - that's just a chump move.  #notcool

... I cant wait to see if the "mystery" dancer on Dancing with the Stars is indeed The Bachelor, Farmer Chris.  As long as he doesn't have to talk to anyone in awkward situations.  He's not the best at that.  #betterdancerthentalker #letshope

... My & my co-hort at work (the lady that sits out in the open right next to me) have determined that our new work theme song is Meghan Trainor "Lips are moving"... The 2 of us have been promised over & over that we would get 'walls' or dividers of some sort to give us privacy.  So yeah, every time the song comes on the radio & the line "I know you lie - your lips are moving" we get a little dance party going at our desks.  You gotta do what you gotta do to get through a work day sometimes.  #tellmedoyouthinkImdumb

Amazoning for the month

So I might have made a mistake doing these posts...

Last time I did one, the hubs was like, "Soooo.... you bought what at Amazon last month?"... oopsie... Some things should be kept between you & your postman. Can I get an Amen? ...

I'm kidding.  The only purchases I tend to hide are anything chocolate related.  The hubs will devour it in less then an hour if he sniffs it out.  #truth

With my word of the year being "Confident" I knew I had to get this book.  I have yet to read it, thanks in part because I keep getting books to review - which I'm so thankful for... but this is next in line... after 2 more books :)

Twinings Green Tea - 24 K-Cups

It's not that easy to find tea k-cups that don't have a lot of extra 'junk' in them. Just give me plain tea people.  Easy enough.  I love getting these from Amazon because for a big box, its only $11.99 plus free shipping.  In the store, usually a box of just 12 is around $9.99 ... I've got this baby saved to keep buying every time we get low.

DropCam Wi-Fi Wireless Video Monitoring

I actually got Ricky a camera for Christmas.  We weren't sure how well these things would work... they are FANTASTIC!  We ended up getting a few more & then Amazon had these marked down one weekend cheaper then you could find them in stores.  I had to go ahead & get another one.  Now, I can sit at work & watch our house on the computer, or on my phone... & the thing that makes me smile - we have a camera where we can watch Harvey Dent playing in the back yard.  Ricky will even talk to him through the cameras.  Nothing cuter then Harvey's nose coming up to the camera wondering how his daddy is in that little thing.

NaturVet Glucosamine

Our little Zoe, with her legs where they were broken when she was little, she suffers so badly from arthritis.  So we do what we can to help her out & glucosamine really helps joints.  & if you've priced some of these in the pet stores, it can get ridiculous for the cost.  We find you have better options of products & better pricing on Amazon.

ESV Journal Bible

This is probably one of my favorite Amazon buys ever.  I was on the hunt for a Journal Bible & these babies are NOT easy to find.  I should have known I'd find one on Amazon.  (This one, I just saw, is now Currently Out of Stock... told you they were hard to get)  Now, I will say, I don't usually use a ESV version but the NIV version is crazy high & I don't use this bible for every day use - just for my devotion time... but I LOVE this Bible.  Warning - the print is UBER small... old eyes are straining.  But its great to jot down thoughts or draw or do amazing things with it in a artistic way.  Just go to Pinterest & search "Bible Journal" & see the amazing things people do.... I'll never be that fancy, but I'll make it my own personal style.

The weekend that I never did get around to cleaning the house....

It was the first weekend in a while that we had that was calm & we didn't have much going on... a good thing really.  Much needed.  Poor Ricky had to work on Saturday but after that, it was a "we're not leaving the house unless it burns down" kinda thing...

but here's some highlights of the weekend

.... Got to talk to my sweet friend Friday on the phone. I called to just check on her after the loss of her dad... &we ended up talking for a little over 2 hours.  Oops.  I just love talking to her, catching up, laughing, crying, & hearing her advice that Ricky & I both value so dearly.

This is totally going to be us in a few years!!!

... When Ricky works, I usually get up with him & am then angry I'm up so early on a Saturday.  Not this day.  I totally didn't even hear him leave. I woke up at 8:00 surrounded by the dogs snoring away.  Sorry honey I didn't see you off, but it felt wonderful to sleep in.

... I had intentions of getting my house cleaned up while the hubs was working.  I nixed that idea & instead made a cup of caramel coffee & started my next book.  Sounds like a MUCH better plan then cleaning.

... I did manage to get in my 10K training mile before Ricky got home.  Building up the miles.  I haven't gotten in anything over a 5k since, well, I can't even remember when.  With my knee & my back, I'm taking things so slow, its ridiculous.  But I'm still enjoying just moving & getting miles in.  Even if it takes me longer then most. 

... Thank you Netflix for making 4.25 miles go back quickly.  Distraction is great.

... That whole "not leaving the house" thing I mentioned?  Ricky had it planned.  He brought home some pizzas on his way home from work so lunch & dinner was covered.  Those miles I ran helped the guilt of eating a day of pizza too.

... Ricky & I had a Arrow marathon.  We were about 5 episodes behind & got all caught up.  I just love that show.  Ricky loves The Flash better... not me.  Give me Oliver Queen any day.

... Ricky finally got a morning to rest so we missed church service.  I was glad he got the chance to relax a bit.  We did make it for Merge (Youth service).  I'm glad we did because we had a great crowd with 3 new visitors... & 2 of the other leaders were missing... & we had our Merge After Church (MAC) so I'm glad Ricky & I were there to help.  Plus, its just fun to hang out with these amazing kids.  They are up for anything... & they play HARD!  I always say if someone isn't bleeding, throwing up, or out of breath, then its not a good youth game.

... Ricky & I went down for our weekly Sunday Target stop & ran into our friends at 5 Guys.  I love when that happens.  An unexpected lunch date.

... Ricky spent $90 at Target & he's still not even sure what he bought.  He basically had 2 small bags.  How does stuff add up so quickly?

... I thought about cleaning when we got home but I decided to pull out my knitting & finish up a scarf/cowl thing I had been working on.  A much better use of my time.

... So excited Once Upon a Time is back on!!!!!

... Had to delay The Walking Dead for the Downton finale.  Oh my gosh.  I seriously was squealing in delight & clapping... (I won't spoil anything if you haven't seen it yet)... but Ricky came running from the other room thinking I was crying because I was upset about something.  No... that's the sound of happiness.  Now we probably have to wait another year for the next season. Sigh.

... I never did around to cleaning my house.  Dang it.
