Kind words, the last book, & some Joyce Meyer ... all for Thankful Thursday {Link up #66}

Today I am Thankful for:
(The numbers refer to my journal for the One-Thousand Gifts... in other words, just ignore them)

284 // Made it home before storms. I hate not being home when it storms because I have nervous dogs. Like honestly - nervous to the point of shaking uncontrollably.  My little Bruno is the worst.  Zoe is smart & goes downstairs in the corner - she's heard all the weather men talk about safe places during storms.  Bruno just can't deal. So I was so thankful to get home right in time for the thunder & lightning.

286 // Got a FB message from a friend thanking me for the encouragement I post some days.  What an encouragement that was to me.  That's an encouragement circle of life happening right there.  There's nothing better than a kind word from someone.

287 // Ricky came to the grocery with me & hung in there the whole trip so he could help load everything. My knee was making moving tough so he got all my groceries in my car for me. I loathe grocery shopping.

000 //  Excited about the last book in the series to finally be out. & got this one at Target & its a signed copy!!! That really makes me happy.

288 // Back roads in traffic.  I'd rather drive 15 minutes out of the way & keep moving instead of sitting for 15 minutes with stop & go & stop & go... makes me green in the face thinking of it.

289 // Our new local Dollar Store. Its basically the only store near us that just opened a few months ago. I needed oats to make my Banana Cookies & I would have otherwise just scrapped the idea instead of driving 40 minutes to get oats... but now, I can pop over to our Dollar Store & pick up things like that.

290 // Our electricity held out.  We had 60mph winds all day long & most of area lost all their power.  Ours did pop off for a few minutes in the afternoon but it came back on & stayed on the rest of the day. Whew!

292 // Hearing our friend Steve teach again in church.  He seemed so much more comfortable this time around.  So proud of him having the courage to get up & share his life & stories with others.

294 // Figured out my remote to my camera.  It got some of my Etsy pictures going ... now to edit.

296 // Talked with the Middle School Pastor at our new church.  We now have a date where we are meeting up & Ricky & I are going to venture into the class & check it out. I'm so excited about it, I'm all smiles.

298 // Chili on a cool night.

300 // Our TV lost access to the local news station that I usually watch in the morning - so I was searching for something to watch while I have breakfast & get the dogs ready.  I came across Joyce Meyers 30 minute show & I have loved getting a little Jesus fed into my morning.  Ricky has since gotten our TV to get our local station back, but now, I'm hooked on watching Joyce.  It really has spoken to my heart on a few rough mornings.  Perfect way to start a day.

301 // My sweet husband. I know I say that all the time - but this is for another reason.  Ricky takes the time to take a guy to work & home again 3 days a week.  He's an older gentleman & works part time.  Ricky drives totally out of his way to do this for him & I always appreciate that Ricky does this for someone.  But this man has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer.  I was curious how much longer he was going to work as his radiation treatments start soon.  Ricky then told me that he was still going to drive over & take this man to his treatments every day.  God love my sweet husband.  This man has family but it just seems like no one wants to step up to help him.  Ricky said he wasn't going to let this be a hassle or issue for him to get the help he needs, so Ricky will be adding on a few day & every day of the week, he's going to make sure he gets to his treatment &gets home OK.  I can't say enough about the man my husband is.  Ricky's words to me were, "I'd think Jesus would make the drive for him".... truth.

So what good things have been happening in your world this week?

  1. I used to do a lot of work with Relay For Life and one of the programs it feeds is Road to Recovery, where patients get rides to treatment. You would be surprised how many family members are unable or unwilling due to job hours to get people to treatment. Your husband is doing a great, great thing.

I have storm nervous dogs too and hate when I'm not there.

  2. I actually love grocery shopping. Not sure what my problem is. Maybe because food always fits & pants don't. Haha.

Yesss to back roads. I'm the same as you. 15 minutes of moving > 15 minutes of stop & go.

Also, have you ever tried a dryer sheet under the dogs collars? My sweet pup back home gets so nervous & shakes & while it doesn't totally eliminate it it does make it better. The vet said it takes away some of the static electricity that builds up during a storm. Apparently dogs are much more sensitive to it than humans?

  3. I'm the same way with traffic. I'd rather it take me a little longer if I can keep moving the whole way than sitting still for 15 minutes. I know it doesn't make sense but it just feels better.

  4. I can't wait to browse your etsy shop! I have a storm-nervous doggy, too. She shakes and shivers (and weighs 75 pounds), so we have to hold her on our lap or cuddle her on the couch.
And your husband is seriously the sweetest.

  5. Love all the positivity in this post! I rarely talk about my husband because he likes to be private (he isn't on any social media) but I'm grateful for my husband too because he always makes me laugh. I've tried to get him to do stand-up comedy but he won't. He could though--he always makes everyone laugh, and with all the stress at work I'm dealing with, he's basically keeping me sane!

  6. I'm embarrassed to admit how long it took me to figure out my remote situation with my camera......but once I did, hello sharp pictures!

  7. Luckily, we don't get too many storms where we are, but my cats hate them when we do. They hide under the bed, and unfortunately kitties don't want cuddles when they are scared. I'm the same way with traffic! I want to keep moving, I don't care if it takes me the same amount of time as the traffic would have! Your husband is a sweet man.

  8. I am so jealous your starting Yellow Brick War, I have it on hold at the library but we are still waiting for the copies to arrive. On the plus side I know they have shipped so it shouldn't be too much longer. I've really enjoyed this Dorthy Must Die series, it's unique!!!
Wish my camera had a remote, that is awesome!!! I have a delayed function but that is it!
    Enjoy the read!!!

  9. That is so sweet of Ricky to help that man. What a great husband you have! I totally agree with back roads instead of traffic! I love that Google Maps takes you on back roads to avoid traffic on main roads. Too bad I only use it when I don't know where I'm going...I should use it all the time just to avoid traffic!

  10. Ugh storms!!! I hate them, and I really hate driving through them so I am with you there!!! I will avoid the interstate as much as possible too.

  11. Aww, your Ricky has a great heart!
The Dollar General use to be my "go to" store when I only needed a few things. The one closest to me closed so now I got to the one on the other side of town sometimes. It was always my alternative to going to Walmart. I just loathe Walmart, it makes me nervous or

  12. Aww, poor pups. So thankful Brady isn't scared of storms because I would feel so bad if he was and had to be alone! And definitely agree about back roads vs. traffic. We sat on a closed highway for an hour on Monday night and finally gave up and went way out of the way on side roads, but it was SO worth it to be moving.

  13. Stop go traffic is the worst. Especially when there's no escape. I'm like you, I'd rather go the back way. And that is really sweet of your husband, what a difference he is making to that man's life. Jesus would definitely have done the drive for him!

  14. woah how'd you get a signed copy? i'm confused. i am going to try and read that series this weekend, or at least start it. i like to wait until series are finished haha

  15. I know this sounds a little cheesy or cliché, but I mean it...Ricky sounds like an angel on Earth! What a beautiful, kind, thoughtful man you have, and it's lovely to see you acknowledge and appreciate him so much. It is really heart-warming. Thank you for sharing.

  16. You and Ricky both sound like the most positive, generous people. I wish I lived near you so I could absorb some of your good nature!

  17. On another note, I have this vision of a kid sneaking around Target and signing author's names in all the books!

  18. Oh my gosh! Ricky is so, so sweet! Sounds like he has a servants heart.
