Thankful Thursday #270... because I need to hear good in YOUR life today

Knit By God's Hand Thankful Thursday, HD Png Download - kindpng

To say this has been a bad week is a gross understatement ... GROSS....

But I still want to say I am thankful for the gifts in every day
... a new day
... health
... my family
... my church family
... hope of Heaven

I am just really not in the head space to do a full post today... forgive me...

My mom is currently back in the hospital since Tuesday where EMT has to come get her again
.. & my Bruno is no longer with us.
I'll write more about him next week... I know this weekend I'll be in a whirlwind of looking at his pictures & feeling all the feels.

But I wanted to still post SOMETHING so I can see what good things are happening in YOUR life.
I'm needing to see good things out there - the contagiousness of JOY to flow.
Even if you dont link up with me - share in the comments.

From this Side of the Pond

1. Expect the unexpected on From This Side of the Pond. Here's my x-ray question...when was the last time you felt like Superman? What's your superpower? Explain.

Probably the time I felt like I could do anything was when I crossed the finish line at a Half marathon... which was a few years ago. But its a feeling that sticks with you - & makes me want to try it again... one day.

2. Are you a fan of the 'superhero' type movies? If so what's your favorite?

I live with a man who lives & breaths Superhero things so I love them all.  I loved all the Avengers movies! But I also have a sweet spot for X-men because when Ricky & I were dating, we would watch the Saturday morning cartoons of it.  I can hear the theme song in my head now just typing it.  Plus, when my guy, Hugh Jackman became Wolverine - YESSS!!! - it made it even better.

3. Have you postponed or cancelled a trip to the dentist in recent weeks, and if so when do you think you'll feel comfortable going back? How about other routine medical procedures?

I usually cancel EVERY dentist appointment - COVID or not.
I'm one of those people that tend to go to the doctor only when my arm is falling off. They make me anxious - for news to receive & yes, I'm one of those people that think of all the germs around. SICK GERMS at that. Ugh.

4. What's something that makes you feel youthful? Something that makes you feel 'not so youthful'? Tell us why.

Hanging with my HSM kiddos makes me feel youthful
Hanging with my HSM kiddos also makes me NOT feel youthful when I have no idea what they're talking about - LOL!  Tik Tok is all the rage right now & I'm still not even on the Snapchat train so I'm really falling behind.

5. I feel compelled to include some sort of corona related question in the HP these days. What's the strangest thing you've seen in relation to the virus? Something that really struck you as odd, made you stop and think, 'Dorothy we're not in Kansas anymore?'

Me doing all this cooking & baking... that's enough to make me feel like the world is coming to an end.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

If y'all can lift up a prayer for our old guy Bruno... I think we're getting near the end.  & yes, I know I've said that for the past few years, but I think he's getting tired at this point.  He's 3 months away from turning 20.  He has every right to be tired.  Always my little man.

The weekend that coffee turned against me....

What can you say at this point?  Heading into week 6 of working at home.

I know the world seems to be chomping at the bit for everything to open up - but I'm actually doing just fine staying at home - working from home. Basically turning into an Agoraphobic.  I mean, even when things open - you wont see me rushing out.  Nope - no thank you.

Truth time... I have issues anyways with my iron deficiency & all the things wrong with my blood & deficiencies - all taking its effect in how I breath. I already have a shortness of breath - even laying down watching TV.   One of the biggest symptoms when I know my iron is low is that I cant even talk and have a conversation without being winded. It's like I ran a full marathon just walking up the steps.  So the idea of something attacking the lungs??? It freaks me out.  I'm thoroughly convinced if I get COVID-19 - I'm just a goner.  Nice knowing you world.

When I hear people talk about having it & how they felt like they were breathing through a sponge - that's nearly what i feel like on a GOOD day.  & its not that I have bad lungs... I just dont have the red blood cells to carry oxygen all around this body of mine.

So yeah... everyone can talk about how much they want to get back out.  I'm sorry (not sorry) that I really have no big rush to get out in it - around people - taking chances.  I get it if you feel healthy & strong & feel like you'd knock out the COVID, no problem, if you got it.  But how you feel like you COULD knock it out -with the way I feel & my health issues, I DONT feel like I could.  Everyone has weaknesses that they suffer with - mine just happens to be a factor where I can't get deep breaths anyways.  It's just scary to me.

I'm sure people with lung diseases, weakened immune systems, diabetes, high blood pressure - all the things that makes this scary for people... you feel me.

Anyhooooo.....back to the weekend.

I was super excited for Friday to get here because  man, it was a ROUGH week.  One of those weeks that I'd pull up my email in the morning & have a new 5 problems just waiting on me - & then problems trinkling in all day long.

Signing off for Friday

So Friday night, I just took it easy.  Made some dinner & did my ZOOM HSM group chat & watched some Netflix.

Saturday, it was supposed to be a all-day-rainy day... so when I woke up & saw the heavens hadnt opened yet, I made sure to get outside & enjoy it while I could!  I read a big hunk of my book while Ricky was working on a new project in our back yard...

.. & then the rains came.

It was gloomy & cold & rainy the rest of Saturday.  It just bummed me out.  But I was determined to make good use of the time.  Time to work more on learning my sewing machine!  I had picked up some fabric from Joann's Curbside pick up & I was excited to try & make some mass for Ricky & I.

All VERY adult prints for us :)

I think I watched about 2 dozen YouTube videos & then decided to jump in....

The first mask - mehhhh... how do they make it look so easy on YouTube?  But let's remember I'm the girl that also took nearly 2 hours to figure out how to get a bobbin made.

But after a few tries, I felt like I was getting the hang of it.  By my 3rd mask, I was super happy with how they were turning out.  Ricky really liked them too.

I need to switch out my thread to do my Beauty & the Beast masks ... so I'm waiting to get geared up for that.... but honestly, I do feel like this was great in teaching me how to sew because with each mask, I'm learning more & more things to do, look out for, just getting the hang of it.

I've basically already told Ricky I'm ready to make my back room a sewing room at this point.  I mean, when I get a new hobby, I go all in

The rest of Saturday - my coffee turned on me.... I had 2 cups of coffee but also made a whipped coffee pretty late - for me anyways.  & I think that instant coffee has a little bit more caffeine in it - at least it effects me differently.  But Saturday after I got settled into bed, I started watching Big Little Lies because HBO is apparently showing some things on Prime (& I think Hulu) free right now.  I had watched episode 1 Friday night.  Welllll... all that coffee just was like, NOPE - NO SLEEP FOR YOU!!! I ended up watching ALL of Season 1 & didnt get to bed till after 3am... I honestly probably could have stayed up through the entire night. I wasn't tired at all when I turned the TV off at 3:00 but eventually fell asleep with boredom around 3:30.

Big Lies Cover Up Even Bigger Secrets In HBO®'s Big Little Lies ...
I loved the book so was excited to see how they would do this
I really enjoyed it & thought they did a good job of it
... totally interested now how Season 2 is going to go.

Needless to say, Sunday - I just felt off the whole day.

I woke up around 8:30 & could have easily fallen back to sleep but I knew I had to get up early for work on Monday so got up & just BLAH....

I didnt even make it to church in the living room - just pulled out my Bible & faith planner in my bed to watch the service.  Then dug into my Bible Study while in bed too.

We had to run out to meet my aunt in Downtown Louisville to give some things - which it felt SO WEIRD to be downtown. It hit me that I hadn't been on those streets in 6 weeks.  So surreal.  We left from loading up her van & coming back to Indiana & we decided to pick up some lunch to take home & of course, when you drive by Krispy Kreme, you just gotta partake.

First Bridge I've crossed in 6 weeks

I wanted to run into Walmart to try & find some fabric to play around with my sewing machine.... BUT HECK NO.  The parking lot was like Black Friday. Packed. Crowded. Hardly an empty parking spot.  Go back to my TRUTH TIME at the beginning... I wasn't about to go in there.  Even with my mask on.  We just rode home chomping on Krispy Kreme mini's instead.

Got home & I finished my book (SO GOOD!!! COME ON BOOK #3) & I think I nodded off 2 times...

& then it was HSM Zoom time.  It was so lovely hearing our Youth  Ministry Worship Leader come on & do a song for all of us to sing with at home.   & always fun to see all the HSM kiddos faces & all the other HSM leaders.

It wasn't a problem AT ALL to fall asleep Sunday night - I got tucked into bed early & was excited they were doing an encore of Disney Sing along ... the perfect tunes for my heart to drift off to dream land.  I mean, come on - A dream is a wish your heart makes.

All the faces, sparkly nails & the sweet taste I've missed so much ....{Thankful Thursday #269}

Knit By God's Hand: Still Thankful....

This week I am Thankful For:

Still working
Thankful every day that I get to enter a time in & time out at my job.

Won Color Street Nails
Has anyone ever tried these before? My friend Natalie was having a party & I thought, why not give it a try?  So just being on a Facebook page that hosted her party, I ended up winning an extra set. I am anxious to give them a try - but really want to wait until someone can actually SEE my nails before I put them on.  The person in charge did send a few samples so I am going to try those first.

HSM Zoom meet up
I just loved that ALL our HSM kiddos got to join together & then we were 'directed' to smaller zoom meet up rooms with just our kids. It made my heart smile to be together this way.

(Can you find me #whereswaldo #wheresrebecca)

Yummy Drop off
Speaking of my incredible HSM family - I got a text from one of the staff at Southeast - my sweet friend - that said she was dropping me off some Starbucks. I thought she was joking & she wasn't. She was out dropping off little goodies for the leaders in my area - HOW STINKIN' ADORABLE IS THAT????  I havent had Starbucks in the LONGEST - like at least 5 weeks... it tasted DELICIOUS!! Plus there was homemade banana muffins in there too. I felt the hug through the treats, let me tell you.  Day 100% made

 Yahtzee Games
I have so many games & would play a dozen each night - but the hubs isn't a big game player.... but he's been good at playing me a game or two every night in Yahtzee. I'll take it.

Thankful for everyone I know - family & friends - still being healthy. I've heard of people near by, like people on my street, or people that work in local groceries, that have had COVID - or even has passed away!!! - making me even more thankful for the health in all those I know & love.

Healthy Lunches
Working at home, it makes it easy for me to make some healthy lunch smoothies.  I've always wished I had a blender at work to make some but I'd get all the glares if I turned on that loud machine for a few minutes.  So I'm trying to drink all the smoothies I can right now - get in some protein powder that has some benefits for my blood/iron.

Tell me something good about your week!

1. What's something you resolved to do this year? Have you done it?

I'm not big on resolutions.  I dont think I even made any.
I guess if I look at "resolved" as goals... I did want to slow down some in 2020 - which I guess the universe took care of that for me. & actually, I'm thankful for it. It's been really eye opening.

2. Where do you go to find quietude?

I usually find the peace & quiet in my back yard.  Whether it be on my enclosed porch, or out on the porch in the sunshine, its where I find myself relaxed - feeling peaceful & just still.  It's usually with a book or Bible Study and a cup of coffee in my hand.

3. A friend asked this question on her Facebook page and said I could borrow it for the're only allowed to buy 5 things at the grocery store, and all must start with the first letter of your first name. Whatcha' buying?

OK - What starts with an R....
1. Red apples (see what I did there)
2. Reese's Cups
3. Ravioli - Spinach or mushroom of course
4. Ruffles
5. Rice ... love me all kinds of rice!

(That was harder than I thought!!!)

4. The television show Survivor, the Gloria Gaynor song 'I Will Survive', survival mode, survival of the fittest...pick one and discuss.

Survivor - the show!
I still love this show & get excited every year when it comes back on.
This year has been awesome for its 40th season (WHAT???? 40 seasons of it???) with all the players from past seasons. I always wonder how I would do on the show because I feel like I'd be a good social player - but I'm not good at scheming & the physical competitions?  I just gasped for air thinking about them.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

My latest Binge has been Schitt's Creek... oh my gosh - I love it so much. David is hilarious.  & Moira cracks me up with the words & tone she uses in speaking. I am half way through Season 3 & am going to be sad to see this one end.

When will Season 3 of Schitt's Creek be on Netflix? - What's on ...

I also started What We Do in the Shadow - just a few episodes in - & cracking up. I love a good comedy that is based around a mockumentary (looking at you The Office / Parks & Rec)

Review: FX Series 'What We Do In The Shadows' Doesn't Suck : NPR

What's a new funny show you recommend?

Noticed how I stayed away from all the chaos in the world when I really wanted to talk about how idiotic I think Georgia & South Carolina & all the states are that are opening already are?  I mean, states that are still on the uphill numbers of cases & death ... sure, open up the states like nothing is wrong... let's kill more people - lets force a longer quarantine because some people want to go to the gym or the movies?... GAWWWW.... Yeah - glad I stayed away from that topic :)

The weekend that I got out of the house for the first time in over 2 weeks....

Week 5 working from home. Amazing.  Simply amazing.

How was everyone's weekend?  Are you finding that weekends aren't much different than Monday - Friday?  For me, I'm still looking forward to them because I dont have to go to my back bedroom - which has turned into Office Central. Or basically, Chaos Central is more like it.  I'm so glad to walk out of that room on Friday & not have to go back in till Monday.

So Friday, when I shut the computer down, I was wanting to go outside & get some fresh air- but forget that. It had turned so chilly & grey & rainy out.  I basically just wrapped up in my sweatshirt & sat in front of a space heater for awhile to just relax.

Then it was time for our nightly Zoom Bible Study with my HSM girls.

Another great talk about the power of the tongue & how watching what you say & how sometimes its better to just be quiet than speak foolishness.

Which fit perfectly watching the news with more news of protesters out.  Want to see what foolishness looks like... yeah, turn on the news & you'll see it.

I ended up spending  my Friday night watching a lot of news - which why do I want to torture myself?  Every time I do, I never get a good night's sleep. Never

Saturday, I got up with a fire in my belly to clean the house...& I did fairly well, for a few hours. Got some deep cleaning done on a few rooms.  But then I remembered that I needed to call our vets office.  I get our dog's food from Chewy's on Auto-ship (Love it) but with the COVID stuff happening, we were delayed on the big dogs food. It did come in like with 1 day to spare (whew) so I went ahead & gave an early shippment on their next order and Bruno's food - which is a specialized prescription food.  We got notice that they were out of it & it wouldnt be shipped. Oh great.  SO I called the vets office & they did have a bag. Thank goodness!  I went ahead & paid for it over the phone & they are currently not letting people come in unless its an emergency.  They'll even come out & get your pet if its just for shots or a check up & you can stay in your car.  They told me to pull up, let them know I'm there & they'll bring it out.

Worked perfectly.  Didnt even have to get out of the truck.

It felt so weird to be out. I hadn't been outside of my drive way in over 2 weeks.  Hadnt been down out of the the Knobs in over 3 weeks.  It actually gave me a little bit of anxiety. I feel like my home is a safe bubble & I felt so vulnerable being outside of it. Is that normal? Anyone else feeling that way?

While we were out, we ended up driving down to Home Depot so Ricky could get some more wood to finish up the tree house.  Me? I said I wasn't going in there - the line coming OUT of Home Depot was like Black Friday going to a buy 1 get 3 free sale. It was RIDICULOUS LONG.  I stayed in the car with my book & just read.  It took Ricky quite awhile to come out because he said they were making people wait in line to get in.  But he said he wasn't sure why because inside, it was packed.

Now, with Ricky's lung issues with the fire, he has been so good & adamant about wearing a mask. He said he probably saw maybe a handful of people wearing masks in there.  & people were so close to one another.

I just dont get it.
Are people not taking this stuff seriously?
Do they NOT CARE?
Do they just think selfishly & about themselves?

I mean, my husband's lungs arent like a normal person's lungs. If he got this, it could be something horribly serious.... & people are walking around like it's January 2020.  Like nothing has ever been said about social distancing.  Or what does it cost you to wear a mask or something around your face?

I honestly dont know of something that makes me so infuriated than this act of non-existent compassion for others.

I can talk about this for hours....I may do another post about it this week just because I'll get distracted - get on my soap box & let all my feelings out & we just dont have time to talk about it in a weekend recap....

... breath... inhale...exhale....

SOOO... we picked up some lunch & came home & I was just so stressed out. STRESSED OUT. I'm like, I dont want to go back out ever again. I'm good staying at home.

Even more so because I found online that they were playing the full production of The Phantom of the Opera on YouTube.  I was ALL about it. Got out some yarn & laid back in the recliner & loved every note of it.

Ricky? Not so much... he could hear it playing & was like, "Please turn it down".  I'll say, he tolerates my love of musicals further than I ever thought he would.  So I did turn it down a notch or two... but warned him I may play it again at least 2 more times in the 48 hour period they were going to give access to it.  Ricky decided to take this time to go work on the tree house.

It was still a little chilly in the shade but felt cozy in the sunshine so I ended up getting Bruno up & went out to watch Ricky work on the tree house  & put him in his stroller & took him out to enjoy the sunshine too. He was so comfy in it - I love when he would raise his face & turn it towards the light.  We think he can see shades of light & dark - but I know he can feel the warmth too.

I usually walk him up & down the drive way in his walker but so glad I've taken it to the back yard so I can just sit on the porch & "rock" him by moving it back & forth - & able to walk him around the yard where he can hear the aussies running.  I'm looking forward to some warmer days so I can have him outside more often.

My Saturday night, I did my best to stay away from the news... found some new shows on Hulu to watch....but still slept horribly.

Sunday, I got up to clean up my bedroom some & then it was church time.  Ricky was laughing at me because I was all up in the middle of my living room, singing my lungs out, with arms lifted high & getting my worship on.

It was another gloomy, grey, chilly day so I didnt feel like doing much except snuggle back in my bed under some blankets. I did get my planner ready for next week, because ya know - SO MANY PLANS ;) LOL...

But then it was time to go pick up my Click List Order... which turned into a total nightmare.  To make a VERY long story short - we ended up waiting about 55 minutes before we got our food - & then half of it wasn't there, & then most of it was replaced, even though they didnt check with me if I wanted most of these foods. So I spent a hunk of money for stuff I wont even use.... AND then they gave me (for the 2nd time in the past month) veggie burgers that were expired. & these babies aren't cheap.  I'm basically about $25.00 into expired food we cant eat. I'm not someone who ever calls or raises a rukus about such things, but I was at the end of my rope after all the waiting & mess ... so they told me to come back down & they'd exchange them or give me a refund. OK... the point of Click List is I dont WANT TO COME IN & BE AROUND PEOPLE.... BIG SIGH.  I'll have to think if its worth $25 to drive all the way back down & deal with the hassle. If I do back down, I'm going to take some of the replacement food they gave me I'll never use.  I may come out with $50.00 back in my pocket in the end.

The one good thing about being out - we picked up some pizza for lunch/dinner.  We placed the order from our phone outside & 15 minutes later, Ricky went in to get it. The guy said we had been the 3rd pizza they made all day long.  That's tough man.

The new highlight of my Sunday is we're doing HSM with ALL the HSM gangs now.  So we all long on together - I think there was like 75 people on last night... & then after a little bit of talk & fun, we all get divided into different chat rooms, which I didnt even know ZOOM could do! It was so nice to see so many familiar faces again.  Miss ALL these kids & these amazing leaders. But we're going to do this every Sunday now - which is something to really look forward to.

Then man... time to get my breath.  Settle in.  Try & get prepared for what the week has in store.  Which I think we can all attest to now, we have no idea what lies ahead.  Can I get an Amen?

& finally - can we get a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our girl Julie!  She's been volunteering so much of her time in the labs down at Vanderbilt  putting together tests that involve infected COVID patients.  To me, this is scary stuff. It's been interesting hearing her side of it - someone who knows the real science & understanding of all this. Hearing it from legit sources - not the news.  Believe me people, this is some scary stuff that is happening. I wish more people would really listen to the facts & science of this stuff instead of just thinking they know it all... OK... I said I wouldnt start...I'll stop. I mean, this is for a birthday shout out.  Thankful for the talent Julie has in working in the field of science & infectious diseases.  Hopefully she gets to celebrate her birthday somehow, some way.  Even if its not today, but soon!  We love you Julie & so proud of all you do!!!
