The weekend I'm over winter

Anyone else feeling like their living in the North Pole?

Man oh man... it was FREEZING here this weekend.  I get totally over winter by the time January comes around so to have to deal with SNOW & cold? I'm over it.

Friday, I got off work & had no idea it had been snowing as hard as it was.  I was totally oblivious... until I pulled out of the parking garage & got a quick wake up slap across my face.

Look at how big the snowflakes were that were falling!!!  Big ole fluffy ones!!!

& of course - that meant traffic everywhere!!!!!  I barely made it across the bridge & saw the expressway with all red lights. I pulled up the map & saw all the main roads were just RED - wrecks everywhere.  I was able to get a back road to beat some of the traffic, but even getting past a lot of the traffic, it still took me 1 hour & 20 minutes to get home.  Just a huge line of traffic on the way home... MISERY!!!!

Line of traffic straight ahead & you cant even see the end of it because it was a white out with the snow

I never was so glad to get home in all my life.

Friday was pretty exciting too because I finally, after 30 days got to take off the heart monitor I had been wearing since leaving the hospital.

It wasn't really bothersome - except my skin. Under that tape, it was so irritated.  The picture doesnt really show how itchy & red it was... but man, its just raw. When I took a shower without it on there, I nearly screamed.  Like salt in a wound.

Technology is amazing though.  For this heart monitor, I carried this cell phone with me everywhere...

& it would monitor what my heart was doing over the past 30 days.  If I had any strange symptoms, I would log it in the phone - but they were always watching.  I would get messages from them if there was any issues -which freaked me out when they said, call immediately - I was like, OK, am I having a heart attack? No... something was just loose. LOL.

They were looking to see if I was having any A-fib issues, which can cause strokes... because again, they have nothing that shows why I had that TIA.

The technology on this - because they were monitoring the full 30 days, I already have the results in my inbox & to the doctor - so cool.  They found no signs of A-fib the full 30 days. That's a relief.

Friday night was exciting too because we opened up the dogs new Bark Box.  It actually came in when Hubby had covid, so we put it aside so we could both be there when they got it. No one wants the other to be the "favorite" HAHA!

Ozzie was cracking us up though because he was scared to death of this toy!  It made a really deep squeak noise & he was NOT a fan....

& Harvey Dent destroyed the other toy in less than 20 minutes. That's not like him at all.  The joke was on me because I was the one who had to walk around & pick  up all the stuffing from this toy.

Saturday - I was awake at 4:30am - WHYYYY!!!!!! I took Zoe out potty & it was 1 degree outside - MY GOODNESS. Fastest pee ever - wonder it didnt just freeze coming out of her.  I got her in & I went into my Book Nook & was just in awe of the sky. Where it was so crisp & cold, the stars were so bright - & the moon was just amazing.  & there was a planet that was just GLOWING so bright too.  Pictures can never really grasp how beautiful a night sky is... it was just breathtaking.

But then the sun came up & it was equally beautiful!!!!

Because it felt like we were already up for 5 hours - which we were - we headed out to go pick up some breakfast.  Plus, I had to drop off that heart monitor at the UPS store or they would charge me for the unit. Forget you snow - we're getting to the UPS store!!!

We made it to Panera too & man oh man - what a let down. They messed up our breakfast sandwiches & we left hungrier than we got there.

I needed to run into Sam's Club too & was surprised when they stopped us at the door & gave us a handful of N95 masks.  Handy!

We loaded up on some healthy snacks & some spices.  I told Hubby those Red Pepper Flakes were for him for Valentine's Day - HAHA! He loves some spicy stuff!

We got home & I snuggled in with Harvey Dent while I read.  We stayed snuggled together for nearly an hour. This dog is just a cuddle bug - & he's our biggest boy.  He doesnt care.  He just wants to be held like he's a little 10 lbs dog.  He kept me warm on this freezing cold day!

The rest of Saturday, I did a few miles on the treadmill & then we watched some Spiderman & just sat in front of the heater.  Neither one of us could get warm all day long!

Sunday - I DID IT AGAIN... up at 4:30!!!! That is so aggravating.
I ended up finishing the show I was binging on Netflix over the weekend...

This was freaaakkkkyyyy - & the ending? I guess they left that to have another season? If anyone watched it, let's chat... I have so many questions.

We didnt do  a lot on Sunday.... ran out to do the horses, ran to Target to pick up a few things, grabbed some dinner... just a basic day.  Glad to see some of the snow melt.

& we're back to Monday!

How was your weekend?

Was it freezing where you are?

What have you binged lately?

Favorite Organizing space / Desk

I've been looking for something to put in an area of my kitchen & I think this may just be it!!!!  A cute little work space to put my laptop or tablet - & cute little baskets can sit on the upper shelves!

Favorite Pet Storage

I've been looking for a better / nicer looking storage for the dog food.
This doesnt hold all the dog food we use - but I still like this idea.
& it would be cute to store toys or leashes & anything else for your pet.
This would be more like the Treat container for our 4 dogs - LOL

Favorite Stool

This is called a Wobble Stool Standing Desk Chair...
I just think it looks like FUN!

Not the full sit down - & it rocks & twists.
Perfect if you're moving around a lot at a desk.

Favorite Hair Tool

You can put this on the side of your sink or your make up table & get your hair iron or curling iron heated up.  I like it for a place to lay down the straightener while I'm sectioning off hair. Seems like a safer place - mine, when I lay on the sink, tends to teeter off or down into the sink.

Favorite Sweater

I love this is like a kimono & a sweater all wrapped up in one.

Favorite Foot Rest

I love putting my feet up on something under my desk or a table
its supposed to be good for your back as well.
But I really like this because you can turn it over & use the other side of this & then it has a rocking motion so you can stretch out your feet - which is good when you have plantar faucitis or other foot issues!

Favorite ClipBoard

I would LOVE to have this in my foyer.
You could change out a picture on it for each month or season
but I'm thinking I could do a quote in pretty lettering or paint/draw a picture & put it in there.
It'd REALLY be cute with a kid's art work changed out on it.

Thankful Thursday #342

This week I am Thankful for:

Health Insurance
My goodness... I am SOOOO thankful. I got my hospital bill from my 3 days of being in the hospital in December & all the tests ran & all the ER stuff. I mean, when its a thick envelope & it covers front AND back - I was holding my breath. Luckily (unluckily?) where I had to go to the ER back in April, I met my deductible... so my hospital bill was under $50.00.  I seriously teared up in gratitude.  Hubby even said, what do you think would have happened if you had your old self insured insurance?  I'd be selling a car.

Do It Yourself Sleep Study
It's not really a Do it Yourself - but I didnt realize they did sleep studies now at home.  They're still trying to figure out what caused that TIA so sleep apena can cause blood clots & strokes (who knew?) - so they were checking me for that.  I'm not a big snorer & I dont have a lot of issues with sleep so I dont think this is an issue - but covering all the ground.  I dreaded going to a strange place to do this but they end up sending me home with this thing that wrapped around my chest, a tube that went in my nose & a oxygen meter for my finger... simple enough. I had to wear it for 4 days... so we'll wait for the results - but man, technology is just amazing.

This was exactly how mine looked.
I actually laid on my stomach & it didnt bother me either.

Warm House
Its that time of year where I am so thankful for a warm & cozy home. I know it really is a blessing to have a space that just gives comfort & shelter - especially in the bitter cold evenings.

JavaSok
I am hooked on these things.  I got one that had Santa's on it for the holidays & enjoyed it so much, I got another one to use the rest of the year.  I keep it in my purse so if i'm out & get an iced coffee, I can throw it in & not have a sweating, dripping cup in my car or in my hands.

This is the medium... which actually fits a VENTI or LARGE size drink.  FYI - I know I got confused on the sizes & didnt think it would fit - but it does.

Tell me something good about your week!

1. January 25th is National Opposites Day. 'They' say opposites attract...do you agree, and if so is that a good thing? Or do you subscribe more to a 'birds of a feather' philosophy?

I think you need both in your life. I know me & Hubby are a little of that. We have so many things we are totally polar opposites on & I think that helps us when we need the other end of the spectrum.  If one of us needs the optimist side or the other needs the realistic point of view... if one of us needs the push to be more outgoing while the other needs the hold back to be more reserved.  But at the base of things, we have the same core values - so I think it all works.

2. Something you're glad to have behind you? Something you're glad is ahead of you?

I'm glad to have the holidays behind me. They stress me out man... It always feels like a breath of fresh air when you get all the decorations up & your house feels all put together again.

I'm glad Spring is ahead of us... 54 more days!  & I've already started to notice more daylight in the evening. At least 30 minutes more of it - & it feels GLORIOUS!

3. Your favorite hot food? Cold food? Are you a fan of breakfast for dinner?

I dont know that I have a favorite hot food. I just know if its SUPPOSED to be hot, I want it hot.  Same with cold.  Favorite food is like picking a favorite color to me - I cant do it. I'm very indecisive.

As for breakfast for dinner - LOVE IT. We do it seldom so it feels like a treat to us when we do it. & when we do the breakfast for dinner thing, we go full out. Biscuits, eggs, hash browns - ALL THE CARBS!!!   If you're going to do it - do it right

4. Are you someone who always arrives to appointments/events early or do you tend to run late? Last thing you were late for?

I get such anxiety at the thought of being late to something. I hate it. My dad raised me that if I'm 5 minutes early to an appointment, I'm already late.... on the flip side & going back to question 1 - Hubby is notorious for being late.  He hates getting somewhere early where he has to wait so he'll prefer to roll in right as something has already started.  DRIVES .... ME... INSANE.

Me with Hubby every time we go somewhere

Last thing we were late for was Christmas at my sister in laws... we hit two HUGE accidents & it took us nearly 2 hours to arrive.  I know I was green in the face by the time we got through all the traffic, starts & stops & detours & twists & turns.

5. "What good is the warmth of summer without the cold of winter to give it sweetness?" John Steinbeck....Your thoughts?

Makes sense.  Can you really appreciate something if you never have to go without?  When its the hottest of summer, I look so forward to the cooler days... when its freezing outside & everything is iced over, I look forward to that heat of the sun again.  Value in each.

Though, I do think I could appreciate it if it could stay a comfortable 70 degrees every day...I think I could live with that.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Does anyone else need a pretty water bottle or glass/cup to drink water more? Just me?  I've just ordered some new Tervis cups to try & give me a boost to try & get more water.  I'm like a child that needs to be bribed.

Favorite Coat Rack

I love this - giving me vintage vibes!
Didnt ever teen girl have those plastic ones like this in their room back in the 80's & 90's?

Favorite Candy Gift

Reese's is the Hubby's favorite - so this may need to be his Valentine's gift.
it could last him maybe a week - LOL

Favorite Mittens

Oh I get it... these are NOT practical at ALL...

But I bet they sure are WARM!!!!!
& they come in a bunch of colors!

Favorite Kitchen Mats

I love you get 2 sizes in this & right now they are 40% off.
I need to get an order in fast myself.
I love the cushy under my feet at the oven or sink!

& these wipe up so if you spill anything on them, you just wash it off! Smart!

Favorite Drink Holder

It's an adapter to put in your cup holder for the bigger water bottles you may tote around. I love this because I know some of mine will topple right out of my cup holder where it doesnt quite fit in.

Favorite Doggie Safety

You can clip your dog in the seat with this for all the safety.
Our Ozzie has become quite the car rider - LOVES to go with Hubby everywhere - but loves to sit IN HIS LAP... & he's not a little pup.

I need to get one of these - I'll be the bad guy.
