The weekend that I slept like a teenager & worked like a crafty fool

So I'm starting off this Monday anxious.

My brother is back in surgery today.    As always, my brother isn't a public person so I wont say a lot, but with the COVID, his follow up surgery was delayed for MONTHS - so this is a day that is long awaited for him - but surgery is always nerve wrecking & hopefully by the time you read this, I'll have the news that he's just fine & only healing lays ahead.

Backing up, how did the weekend go.... honestly, this is probably one of the laziest weekends - with a side of working. How is that possible?  It really is.

Friday, when I got off work, I ended up going to my "second job" as I call it now - making masks.  I end up selling 27 masks this past week.  Fun stuff.... so I had to start recutting fabric & all that fun stuff.

Then I ended up going & taking care of the horses so Ricky could get to sleep. He was exhausted after a long week & a hard days work.

For me, it was a beautiful night working in the barn. The sun was going down & it was a cool temp.  It was really lovely...

... until I had to fill up water buckets.

So much for them being FULL by the time I carried them into the stalls. #soaked

Saturday.... I slept till after 9am.... WHAT AM I? A TEENAGER??? I honestly dont know the last time I did that.  But let me tell you - it messed with my day. I'm used to getting up around 6-6:30 - even on the weekends.  So to have like 3 hours of my day gone? It really did make me feel like half the day was POOF - gone.

I ended  up getting up fast & just threw on some clothes, shoes & headed out to do a lot of errands.  I had to drop off some Etsy mail, drop off a UPS package, ran down to Joann's to get some princess fabric, pick up my mom's groceries, take care of the horses - just running running running. It was nearly 3:30 by the time I got home. What the heck.... time in a time warp going on fast forward.

I ended up getting to work on some new masks & am just loving how beautiful & soft these Princess prints are.

I'm also pretty bummed that I cant find any more Belle / Beauty & the Beast fabric. I've sold out of all my Belle masks & glad I have any other princesses.

I finally called it when it was getting later & started watching Lenox Hill.  Of course, waking up so late, I couldnt go to bed, so I stayed up so late watching it all - but 2 episodes. I was a nervous wreck though watching it.  Totally convinced I now have a brain tumor... & I was SOBBING crying over some of these stories.  I was an anxious ball of mess. If you get anxious over medical things- steer clear of this one - but it is so powerful & interesting to see how these doctors work.

I especially liked the COVID episode they added on. I wish it was longer & they could have gotten more on that topic.  I think I'm gonna need a yearly update on these doctors & some patients.  ... maybe not. I get really emotionally invested... obviously.

Sunday, I did wake up & finish the last 2 episodes of Lenox Hill & got to work on some yarn projects.  Hello old friend. Remember when knitting & crocheting was all I did before my sewing machine came into my life?

I woke up early for not going to bed so late (bed around 2am - woke up at 7am) & then just laid in bed to watch Netflix until 11am.  LAZY.  See why I'm a scheduled kind of person - one day thrown off & it just messes with me.

I ended  up finishing Fuller House too & again, all the feels. I hate seeing that show go off. I loved the light heart feel of it. It usually was my go-to to watch before bed after watching news & all the horrible things going on in the world.  The Tanner house always made it all better - at least for pleasant dreams.

I took some time to do some self care & did my nails - just in time for the 4th of July.  I am totally digging these Colorstreet Nails. Seriously - the cutest.

I then had to put the petal to the metal & get ready - actually READY - make up & straighten my hair - GASP!!!!!.... I have not straightened my hair since March y'all... MARCH.... 3 months ago!  Are you kidding me?

Who is this person?

To be honest - I didnt put make up on below my eyes. LOL... I did put make up around my forehead & my eyes - but none on my noses & chin because of masks :) LOL!!! Why waste it?  Plus, my chin is starting to break out with the hot air in the mask & my chin is sweating!! EW!!!! Anyone else getting Maskne?  I didnt want make up on my chin to make it worse.

We had to head out to a funeral home for my sister in law who lost her father last week.  The restrictions had just lifted a little bit more last week as well so they were able to have a pretty normal visitation & service.  I still ache for those that had to have closure without the support of loved ones or a normal funeral.

It was crazy that I was there with Ricky & his family & I look up & see my uncle & aunt & cousin & his wife coming down the hall way. Tell me its not a small world!  We actually found out at my dad's funeral that Ricky's sister knows my uncle really well.  I had forgotten all about that until I saw them there.  I love the connections people have with one another when it wraps back up & holds others that you know & love.

We got home & it was time to feed the dogs, do some home stuff & my brother drove over to pick up some things & I got to wish him luck for his big day....

& we've circled back around to the beginning of the post.

So, if you dont mind & you are a praying person - if you can lift up some prayers  for my brother & his wife & girls. It'll be a bumpy road for the next few weeks.  Thank you!!!

What is your favorite princess?

Have you watched Lenox Hill on Netflix?

Do you get anxiety watching or hearing medical issues?

Are you back to doing normal hair & make up routines?

Some zzzzs, shut that thing not worth your time & I have a sparkling problem {Thankful Thursday #263}

Knit By God's Hand Thankful Thursday, HD Png Download - kindpng

This week I am Thankful for:

MIL doing OK
My mother in law had a little bit of a scare with two ER visits last week.  I wont dive into all the details of everything - but I'm just glad she's at home & she didnt have to stay! & hopefully, praying ,she doesn't have to go back.

Summer Storms
They make me so happy - the sounds & smells & sights. All of it is just to beautiful to me. I can do without muddy dog feet, but everything else, love it.

Ernie was chasing the leaves that were flying from the storm
Drinks
I gave up Diet Coke - & all soft drinks - years ago. YEARSSS. & I was a huge Diet Coke addict.  But I made the switch to Sparkling Water. I still love me some bubbles.  I get in a little panic when I run low - which is what happened the other day. I really didnt want to have to drive to the grocery & back to get them (about an hour trip) so The Hubs said he'd stop after work.  I never thought he'd remember - but he came in work that Monday with 6 cartons for me to last a little bit.  He lives by the Happy Wife, Happy Life.... at least sometimes :)

Sleeping In
I REALLLLY needed a lazy day where I didnt have to get up out of bed & rush to do anything.  Sunday was that day for me... & Ernie, who usually is a ball full of energy, must have felt my vibes because he stayed in bed with Harvey & me & snoozed the morning away too.

Shutting a bad book
I am grateful that I have learned to shut books if I'm not enjoying them. That took some time to learn. Book guilt is a thing.  Like you have to push through.  But I've learned there's way too many good books to get to besides wasting it on books that dont really... as Marie Kondo would say.. spark your joy!

Beautiful Nights
We have been in some horrible humid days & then some nice cool evenings - so every time it takes a cool swing, I've been loving every second of it- staying outside until you can hardly see. Do I need to spend that much time outside? Nope - but I'm taking advantage of the time because I know summer will be setting in & I wont be able to get back outside till Fall.  I'll have plenty of time indoors to do all the inside stuff later.

Took a walk this night
Mask Wearers
Anyone else paying any attention to the numbers of COVID starting to get out of control again?  This time, no one seems to care.  I really dont get it.  REALLY dont get it....

So like I say every week - I will continue to thank people & be grateful for the ones who are fighting the fight for others!!!  Not for the ones who seem to think selfishly about how uncomfortable THEY are with a mask on - or take it as a political statement or all the reasons people dont want to wear a mask.  Unless you have a health condition where you CANT wear a mask,  then you dont have a reason NOT to wear it.!!!!  ... but I will keep applauding the ones who are helping protect those around them in staying safe. THANK YOU MASK WEARERS!!!  I feel like we're the ones who are making a difference, even if its small - but especially to the ones we love around us - our neighbors, our friends, our family. Keep up the fight!

So... tell me something good in your week!

1. This time last year where were you?
I actually turned to TimeHop to be very precise on this answer.  One year ago today, I was in a coffee shop & meeting up with some of my HSM girls for some chatting & girl time & some God talk.  Crazy that I havent seen my girls since March.

2. In honor of National Pink Day (June 23rd) tell us your favorite pink food or beverage. Was it on the menu at your house yesterday? Do you like to wear the color pink? If we came to visit would we find this color in your home decor? Blush-fuschia-salmon-raspberry-your favorite shade of pink?

All the pink questions. - lets break it down....
* the only pink beverage I can think of is a strawberry smoothie - & I do love me a yummy one of those! * no, it wasnt on my menu yesterday - but I'm gonna have to go get some strawberries to have it soon!
* I do tend to wear some pink - but really, am more a neutral wearing gal - give me all the gray (which goes with pink very well!)
* No, you wont find pink in my home decor. Well, not really - for the most part - no - but I do have a Princess bedroom for our guest room so there are touches of pink there.
* & honestly, I dont have a favorite shade  - its why I say I dont have a favorite color in general. Everything goes with mood & I like them all.

3. Stop and smell the roses, looking through rose colored glasses, a rose by any other name, not all moonlight and roses, no rose without a thorn...which rosy saying currently fits your life in some way? Explain.

Well, the word "rose" isn't technically in it- but come on, if you know me, you know I'm going to go in a Beauty & the Beast direction - every time.. ... but I love this quote - loving someone till the very end.

4. Are you a 'reader'? Do you tend to read lighter books in the summer months? Do you have a summer reading list? If so, give us a title or two.

Am I a reader??? I honestly laughed.  I've never NOT been a reader.
I dont do good with reading lists. I feel strapped in with a book then & then I am looking at it with judgement. Give me reading freedom! ... but I dont necessarily pick a lighter book in the summer. All year round, I try to alternate genres just so I'm not bored.  Though I will say, I do like to read an Elin Hilderbrand book during Summer. Something about her Nantucket centered books makes me feel like I can smell the beach water.

5. Share with us one rose and one thorn from your weekend.

ROSE - Found some really cute shorts I like from Amazon!!!

THORN - had to get them in a bigger size than I usually wear (BOO!)  Screw you quarantine eating!

6. Insert your own random thought here.

My rib pain is back! I'm going on over 5 years of this.  Every time I go to the doctor about it in the past, they've said its myofascial pain from a gall bladder / appendix surgery from years ago. I always say I dont buy it - but its frustrating how it comes & goes & about once a year, it gets like this UNBEARABLE pain.  It hurts to touch my side - hurts to move my body - hurts to breath - hurts all the way to my back.  I'm pretty miserable right now.  It's like a constant tooth ache across my whole middle area.  Nothing really that can be done with it too. They did try that myofascial therapy & I'm still not sure it did a whole lot.  I try to stretch a lot & break up the scar tissue inside (still not buying all this though... seriously!) & pop some Ibuprofen & wait it out.  ... for another 5 years? Geez.

The weekend I got storms for the 2nd year in a row from my daddy for Father's Day

Happy Monday!  We're all still here right - the world hasn't ended.... yet?

I have a feeling we're going to be sitting on a powder keg all the way till Election Day... & I have no idea what's going to happen after that.  Either side wins, I just see more division.  Our country is in trouble y'all... I just cant imagine how things are going to turn for peace.  Gotta keep praying for our country, our leadership.  At this point, its the only thing I have my hope in.

Anyways....

My weekend kicked off on Friday ... late.  Honestly, I think it was the biggest punk week of my life last week.  Every single day was just riddled with issues. BIG issues.  I got more over time in last week than I've ever gotten working.  & Friday, I was still working till 5:45pm.  Again, thank God I'm at home & didnt have to do a traffic drive that late on a Friday.

I finally signed off the computer & The Hubs had picked up some dinner & it was cold because he got home at 4:30 - so we warmed it up & I finally got a breather.  I finished eating, grabbed my kindle & just headed to my happy place to just calm my brain down & let the busy week go.

I am LOVING this book... only have a few more chapters left!

It was pretty warm on Friday but I hadn't been outside all day so I just stayed out all night.  It didn't feel as bad as the sun was setting... & the best part??? All the lightning bugs were out!!! I hadn't see any this year, but they know when summer is here because they were out everywhere. I went on my front porch where there's no light anywhere & just watched the show going on in my front yard & all the space around.

Basically what it was like

It was so funny because Ernie wasn't sure what was going on.  He kept turning his head, catching glances at the quick bright light, & then noticing another flash & another flash... I finally had to put him inside because I was afraid she was going to run after them - or have some sort of doggie mental breakdown.

Saturday, I got up early & went ahead & made my "Usual big breakfast Sunday" for Saturday.

Ricky went out & did yard work before it got too hot & I ended up doing some cleaning inside.  I even took on those little jobs that you put off.  Those nooks & crannies.  I even pulled out my pen carousal & cleared out a lot of the pens/markers/pencils I dont use anymore & dusted this baby up.

This isn't even half of all the pens I have.
#penaddict

I wanted to run down to our little local store that has a bunch craft goodies & I wanted to see what material they had.  Ricky ended up coming with me because he needed to take his tire.... he had a flat coming home last week.  Getting a flat in the middle of downtown during 4pm isn't a good thing with riots & protesters getting a little crazy.

We ended up going to Tire Discounters & The Hubs was LIVID when he came out. THEY ARE THE WORST!!!!... We have bought tires all around the car for at least 2 vehicles... plus a few patched tires - The Hubs even has had a oil change there.  One time, when one of my tires had a flat, it was supposed to be on warranty & they were supposed to do free rotations since we got 4 new tires - well, they didnt have any record of that purchase. HUH?... Well, once again, The Hubs went in with his tire & asked if he could get his tire patched or if it had a warranty on it ....DO YOU KNOW, they said, "We dont have any record of you ever being here"... Mmmm... what? Excuse me?

Again, we have spent THOUSANDS of dollars there... & no records.  They even tried to tell The Hubs that he got the place confused with another place.  Well, to say that he came marching out to come to the car to look for a receipt with steam coming out of his ears is an understatement. I dont blame him.

... & all  the while this was going on, I had walked across the parking lot to get a Starbucks iced coffee where my rewards were expiring on July 1st.  Because I have priorities.

Told you last week how its a maze in there... follow the lines - the signs
You can see the Plexiglas in front of the to-go orders too. -  I like it

The Hubs picked me up & I could tell everything had gone wrong in there.... so we drove literally across the street to Big O Tire & they said, "Yep, they're famous over there for losing records"... & they patched up the tire & we were out of there in 10 minutes.  Dumb. We won't be back to Tire Discounters ever again. Thankyouverymuch.

I wanted to go to Target while we were out but The Hubs needed to go to Home Depot first. I had my book with me & that's what I typically do when he goes in there but it was HOT & HUMID - so I went ahead & slapped on a mask & headed in with him.

We were in The Hub's car & my masks are in my car - luckily, we have some throw away masks we bought form Sam's Club just for emergency - this worked out well.
Headed to Target to get things I didnt need.. I take that back, I did need my 3 big bottles of coffee creamer.  That's a necessity.

& we also ran over to the little local store & I found some really pretty fabric & The Hubs was super happy because he was wanting some hockey material for masks. We found it - it's even blue. Perfect. Love supporting local stores!

The rest of my Saturday was basically an assembly line of making more masks.  I kept running into issues where my needles were breaking.  The one on my machine, I had been using for weeks so it wasn't surprising to me it broke. It was due.  But I felt so lucky that some needles that I had just ordered came in.  But they just kept breaking - 1... 2.... 3 needles right in a row - all on the same mask.  Come to find out - I ordered the wrong needles. GEEZ.  Luckily, I had one extra needle that was the right one to get me back in business.

I spent the rest of my Saturday getting through 13 Reasons Why....

13 Reason Why Season 4 Release date, Plot, Cast, Story and other ...

I was up till 1:30am watching it & finally drifted off & woke up Sunday determined to finish it.
But let me tell you - if you've ever watched the first 3 seasons & are thinking of watching this one - DONT DO IT. ITS AWFUL!!!!!! Torture.  Miserable. STUPID! .... If you did watch it, chat with me about this. How they just seemed to throw together the dumbest story line every, that made really no sense, only to come to the WORST CONCLUSION a series could ever have.  Honestly, I have a lot of feelings about how dumb this show is & how I wasted a lot of my time on it.  I've looked online & seen most people feel the same way I do too.

Here's a video too about how awful it is. & do yourself a favor, just watch the video if you're wanting to watch Season 4 & you can save yourself a lot of time.

& of course, Sunday was Father's Day... now a heart tugger of a day for me.  Though, I have to say, I had to laugh when all of a sudden, a storm popped up - a good ole windy, dark cloud, hard rain storm.  Because actually, LAST Father's Day, there was a storm & even then, I had said I feel like dad was sending me a storm to let me know he's near... HERE'S the post I did last year. Isn't that crazy though???  ...if you're new here, thunderstorms were a thing for me & my dad. Ever since I was a kid.  We still would call each other even up to the last days of his life to talk about storms coming or hitting us.... So yeah, to me, its not by chance that on my 2nd Father's Day without my dad, I got yet another storm.

I see you & feel you dad.  & I miss you dearly.

Ricky & I ran back down to our little local craft store so I could get some more elastic & then I basically spent the whole day reading.  Harvey Dent enjoyed all the reading time too.

We even got to end our day with a Rainbow.... Thanks again dad! :)

Not the best picture because I had to take it with my tablet - my phone was dead

& just like that - the weekend is over. ... that's been my new little thing I keep saying to The Hubs. "Just like that - Spring is over" - "Just like that - half the year is over" - "Just like that.. " .... Fill in the blank.

So here we are again.... Happy Monday.

Did you do anything for Father's Day?

What do you do to de-stress after a long day?

Did you get any storms this weekend?
