Letter To...

Dear Internal Clock,

When I woke up this morning & saw the room was still dark, I thought I had plenty of time to go back to sleep.  But that's when I rolled over & saw it was 4:45 am

I laid there confused for a few minutes.  Is that right? What day is it? Who am I?  Where am I?  I tend to be a little fuzzy headed in the wee early hours.

We both know that my alarm clock goes off at 4:30 am... we know that too well.  I know you realize that because I seem to always wake up a few minutes before it goes off.  Its either you're doing Mr. IC ... hope you dont mind that I feel so close to you, that I can call you Mr. IC...or its my dog's doing.  Bruno does have a tendancy to bark at the most inappopriate times.  Like when he knows I have 30 minutes until the alarm goes off - why bother to go back to sleep?

I laid there & when my brain came back online, I remembered the day before & I hit the alarm clock funny.  With the buttons touching each other, I must have turned the alarm clock off.

Remind me Mr. IC to write a letter to the manufacturer of these clocks that must think that tiny, little fairy hands turn off the buttons ... and they forget that its in the pitch dark as well...

So I just wanted to write you to thank you for waking me up, Kramer style.

Now, if you could get the weekends from the weekdays straight, I'd appreciate it.

Love,
Your Sleepy Friend

Thursday Letter: 4:30 am

Dear 4:30 am

I know we have a new relationship together.  Normally, I would ignore you & not even realize that you existed.  But with this new change in routine & route to work everyday, I have had to grow closer to you over the past few weeks.

Its because of this closer relationship that I feel like I can write you this letter to tell you how I really feel about you.  I'm sorry to say, its not pretty either.

I think you are some sort of evil creature that is sent to mess with me physically & emtionally.

Why emotionally?  Because when I see you on my alarm clock every morning, it sends me into a state of depression.  One that involves tears & a 2 yr old tantrum of kicking the bed & saying things like, "I dont wanna!!!"

Also I feel like this is an emotional game because I would almost bet you $1 million dollars (as if I HAD $1 million dollars) that I just laid down & I just closed my eyes.  Mr. 4:30, do you have magical powers that speed up the time during the dark hours?  I would bet $2 million dollars on THAT also!

Physically, you are taking a toll on me as well.  I feel like my body is going through a wringer everyday.  You make me want to take a nap every day because I feel like I cant even hold my head upright by lunch time.  That's just messed up.  And if I take the time at lunch to watch my TV shows I enjoy on Hulu during lunch, only because I have no time at night now to watch anything, I am almost in a "crawling" mode to get in my house for a quick snooze at your sister, 4:30 PM

Why do I need that snooze?  Because I'm training for my next half marathon & the way my body is being effected by you, I think I can make it about 5 miles & it equals the same as 13.1 miles right now.

Mr. 4:30, we also dont even want to talk about how I have no time nor energy to keep up with my house.  You have forced me to neglect my laundry & my dusting.  My home has turned into a perfect mess... I'm just glad that is close to Halloween & I can make it sound like the dust & the mess is all part of a "Haunted House Feel"....

I'm hoping our relationships becomes easier.  I'm hoping we even begin to LIKE each other.  As of now, I'm doubting it though.

Regardless, I'll be seeing you tomorrow.

Your tired & grumpy friend,

Thursday Letter: Shermon Minton Bridge

I'm always writing letters in my mind... to people, to things, to events, to just about anything.  So I'm going to take my Thursdays & make it a day to write a letter... you'll never know who, or WHAT, you'll see a letter to.

Today's letter goes to the Sherman Minton Bridge...

For those of you that dont live around here, its a bridge that has shut down because of cracks in it - it has messed up our world around her... I'm talking MESSED UP!!!!!
___________________________

Dear Poor Little Sherman Minton Bridge,

I'm sorry you have a crack in you, but I hope you know that your little crack has caused a HUGE crack in my mind.

With this crack, we now have to send 80,000 people over the other bridge that connects Indiana & Kentucky.  And it seems those 80,000 people are heading over at the same time of the morning.

Mr. Bridge, you must really smile to see all of us sitting dead still at 5:30 am, thinking that we must really miss you... & I do!  I get all sniffly thinking about how much I miss you.  Afterall, I now have to get up at 4:30 am - & its changing my life!  I have to get to bed at 9 pm & this is messing up my TV time - & you know how much I love my TV time!  I didnt even get to see the Finale of Big Brother last night.  And how am I going to live without Private Practice when it comes back on?  Or even my Housewives of New Jersey?  I gotta have my dose of Joe & Melissa to get me through the week.

I also now get to start my morning in a horrible mood.  Afterall, when you sit in traffic at 5:00 am - 6 am with the other 79,999 people of the area, it doesnt make you think of rainbows & butterflies.  No, it makes you think of getting out of still-cars & kicking someone's car in & yelling at them for cutting in front of you when you've sat there for 10 minutes & havent moved but an inch.  But then telling them that Jesus loves them & to have a good day.... gotta keep a Christian attitude in all this...

There is a rumor going around about what really caused this crack... I'm hoping this is just a rumor.  I'd hate to think that the next thing that could come will be the Marshmellow man from Ghostbusters.

Mr Bridge, they are saying this could go on for up to a year.. if not longer...do you know if you have insurance to cover my mental health bills that are going to come in from this whole experience?  I know you're the one that needs repairs, but I think I'm going to need repairs for my heart attack waiting to happen & my stay at the local "resort" (which is code for a place that has padded walls).

I have to let you know as well that this bridge closing is affecting my health.  I'm now not able to drink lots of water, or even DIET COKE, during the day because I know I have a trip to go home & you never know how long you can be stuck on the road.  Do you know I'm turning 40 this year & my bladder doesnt hold as well as it used to?  And forget about thinking of eating something heavy before hitting the road... these are just nightmare situations waiting to happen....

Can you please pass word to the local news stations too that they too are adding to our sanity when they tell us to take an "Alternate route".... because there are only so many ways to cross a river.  So if they mean by "Alternate route" some sort of contrapation that can carry me across water, then there's only one other option to go.  I'm thinking of buying a raft, or a kayak...I'd swim across if it wasnt for all the drug needles, traces of cocaine, & probably occasional stray dead body that would hit me in the head.

I never realized how much we needed you ... I'm sorry I didnt say it to you earlier... but as soon as those roads are open (WHENEVER that is) I'll be sure to shout a big HALLELUJAH as I'm riding across your back.  Never again will I take you for granted.

Hope to see you soon... very soon...

Missing you,

Your biggest fan
