Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea
Friday... Friday... Friday!!!!

*****

What the hey?... today's high is in the 70's!
70's!!!!!!!
This weekend is going to be nice too
... thank goodness I have a photo session scheduled for this weekend..
I would have cried if it got away from me

Could it be the first signs of Fall?
Probably not... it'll probably be skin frying weather again next week

*****
Anyone still watching the Olympics?
This seems like the longest 2 weeks ever... doesnt it?
I was so excited about Misty May Traynor & Kerri Walsh
Pull one out for the 'old gals'
(Even though they're younger then me)
Their friendship & support of each other made me just want to cheer harder

*****
Men's Marathon... this Sunday...
Go Ryan Hall!!!!!
Go Meb!!!!
Go Guy I cant even pronounce your name
(Abdi Abdiraham)!!!

I actually have the book written by Ryan Hall & the book by Meb (great book)...
Mr Crazy Name needs to get to writing!

*****

Sorry...
I still dont care about the Mars thing

We cant keep people out of movie theaters with guns & knives
but lets spend MILLIONS of dollars to go to a place that
is going to tell us, "there was once water 50 Trillion years ago"
whooo-hoooo... (twirling finger around)

How about spending that money to help find the cure for cancer?
Or helping the elderly?
Or helping our education system?
Or ... or... or...
I can go on for HOURS about this

*****

You may have seen this picture if you follow me on Facebook or Instagram

Tell me Pinterest isnt good for something....

A redneck recipe holder...

hey - it kept it off the counter while I was making banana bread
& right at eye level
... that hanger is now down under my kitchen sink because it will get used again...

*****

I am so in love with this commercial....
I saw on the news that some people said it was offensive & disrespectful to
this young 12 yr old...

But they interviewed him & he said it inspired him to run
How is that offensive & disrespectful?

We're ALL capable of greatness!!!!
& hey... this guy is running at my pace... I dig it!

*****

My niece helping my dad work on his barn...
this girl is such a helper...
loves to get down & dirty...

The other twin?
Probably inside doing her nails & hair
Night & day twins

Spat of the week:  SONG POP!!!

Anyone else playing that new game that's going around on Facebook?
Like "Name that Tune"

I love it...
except if you give me any "Rap" category...
I'm done when it comes to Rap

But I sent Ricky an invite to play me.
He was convinced he beat me
he didnt realize that speed counts too
You can get them all right, but if you're slower?  You loose

You would have thought Facebook & I went into some conspiracy together
just to make my score higher
I had to listen for the past few nights "Its WRONG - I BEAT YOU"
When it clearly said the score was 4:0

"OK - Facebook is wrong on just mine & your scores... happy?"

But Ricky outsmarted me...
last night, he used his 'coins' & bought the "Heavy Metal" songs
As of this morning, the score is 4;1

Facebook is WRONG!!!! He didnt really beat me, did he? ;)

*****

Hope you all have a fantastic Friday...
& hope the cool air is getting everyone
We all could use some relief, couldnt we?

Parachute

I know this may seem long, but let me tell you - its so worth it...
Our Youth Pastor gave this example to our Jr. High kids in a great Jr-High way on Sunday & it was such an impact... on the kids as well as the leaders...

So catch up on your speed reading & take it in... you'll be blessed
... & ready to cling to your parachute...

__________________

Two men are seated in a plane. The first is given a parachute and told to put is on as it would improve his flight. He’s a little skeptical at first because he can’t see how wearing a parachute in a plane could possibly improve the flight. After a time he decides to experiment and see if the claim is true. As he puts it on he notices the weight of it upon his shoulders and he finds that he has difficulty in sitting upright. However, he consoles himself with the fact that he was told the parachute would improve the flight. So, he decides to give the thing a little time. As he waits he notices that some of the other passengers are laughing at him, because he’s wearing a parachute in a plane. He begins to feel somewhat humiliated. As they begin to point and laugh at him and he can stand it no longer, he slinks in his seat, unstraps the parachute, and throws it to the floor. Disillusionment and bitterness fill his heart, because, as far as he was concerned, he was told an outright lie.

The second man is given a parachute, but listen to what he’s told. He’s told to put it on because at any moment he’d be jumping 25,000 feet out of the plane. He gratefully puts the parachute on; he doesn’t notice the weight of it upon his shoulders, nor that he can’t sit upright. His mind is consumed with the thought of what would happen to him if he jumped without that parachute.

Let’s analyze the motive and the result of each passenger’s experience. The first man’s motive for putting the parachute on was solely to improve his flight. The result of his experience was that he was humiliated by the passengers; he was disillusioned and somewhat embittered against those who gave him the parachute. As far as he’s concerned it’ll be a long time before anyone gets one of those things on his back again.

The second man put the parachute on solely to escape the jump to come, and because of his knowledge of what would happen to him without it, he has a deep-rooted joy and peace in his heart knowing that he’s saved from sure death. This
knowledge gives him the ability to withstand the mockery of the other passengers. His attitude towards those who gave him the parachute is one of heart-felt gratitude.

Now listen to what the modern gospel says. It says, “Put on the Lord Jesus Christ. He’ll give you love, joy, peace, fulfillment, and lasting happiness.” In other words, “Jesus will improve your flight.” So the sinner responds, and in an experimental fashion, puts on the Savior to see if the claims are true. And what does he get? The promised temptation, tribulation, and persecution. The other passengers mock him. So what does he do? He takes off the Lord Jesus Christ, he’s offended for the word’s sake (Mark 4:17), he’s disillusioned and somewhat embittered, and quite rightly so. He was promised peace, joy, love, fulfillment, and lasting happiness, and all he got were trials and humiliation. His bitterness is directed toward those who gave him the so-called “good news”. His latter end becomes worse than the first: another inoculated and bitter backslider.

Instead of preaching that Jesus improves the flight, we should be warning the passengers they’re going have to jump out of the plane.

Now, can you remember why the second passenger had joy and peace in his heart? It was because he knew that parachute was going to save him from sure death. And as a believer, I have, as Paul says, “joy and peace in believing” (Rom 15:13), because I know that the righteousness of Christ is going to deliver me from the wrath that’s to come.

Now with that thought in mind, let’s take a close look at an incident on board the plane. We have a brand new stewardess. She’s carrying a tray of boiling hot coffee. It’s her first day; she wants to leave an impression on the passengers, and she certainly does. Because as she’s walking down the aisle, she trips over someone’s foot and slops that boiling hot coffee all over the lap of our second passenger. Now what’s his
reaction as that boiling liquid hits his tender flesh? Does he go, “Ssssfffff! Man that hurt”? Mmm-hhh. He feels the pain. But then does he rip the parachute from his shoulders, throw it to the floor and say, “The stupid parachute!”? No. Why should he? He didn’t put the parachute on for a better flight. He put it on to save him from the jump to come. If anything, the hot coffee incident causes him to cling tighter to the parachute and even look forward to the jump.

Now if you and I have put on the Lord Jesus Christ for the right motive, to flee from the wrath that’s to come, when tribulation strikes, when the flight gets bumpy, we won’t get angry at God; we won’t lose our joy and peace.

Why should we? We didn’t come to Jesus for a happy lifestyle: we came to flee from the wrath that’s to come. And if anything, tribulation drives the true believer closer to the Savior.

Dont be the one who professes Christ and then looses their joy & peace when the flight gets bumpy...remember the end destination of your trip... that parachute is needed.

Hodgepodge

(Click on the button above & join in with the questions supplied by Joyce)

1. In an effort to combat obesity, the mayor of NYC has plans to ban the sale of large sugary drinks (anything over 16 oz.), initially in restaurants, movie theatres, and street carts. Corner stores would also be affected if they are defined as food service establishments. You can read more here. Your thoughts?
I love this idea... I think its CRAZY the size of soft drinks anymore.  These bucket cups, with a tiny little base so they can fit in your car.  Only to have the weight of the top, tip over when you take a curb & spill all in your floor board...
Think I've had experience in it?
The Mayor is just looking out for your car interior...
If this happened to my area when I was addicted to Diet Coke?  I'd totally lay in the floor like a 2 yr old & have a tantrum...

2. Art festival, music festival, food festival...which would you most like to attend?
Art Festival... they usually have the best (worst) kind of food there anyways - Its a 2-for-1 answer!
But I love to see what others consider 'art' ... some of it, I dig... other stuff, I'm like, "are you kidding me?  My 4 yr old grandson can do that" ... & then see they're selling it for $500 a pop...  all in the name of art

3. What are you irrational about?

Irrational:  lacking in reason or logic... unable to think clearly ... without normal mental clarity or sound judgement
I think that just definited our government right now...

My irrational thinking?  When I feel sick & get on Google... & find I have every stupid thing that will kill me in a few years... if not a few days... I get so upset like, "could it be true?"...

... dont laugh.. you've done it too...right?   (I'm looking at you, my sister in law!!) haha!

4. Do you feel confident you'll have a comfortable retirement?

I hope I MAKE it to retirement? Did you just see my last answer?   I'm hoping not to die before next year! :)

5. What's been your favorite Olympic moment so far?
(Not ever, just in the 2012 Summer games.)
Beach Volleyball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Hubs & I have caught the games & have hooted & hollered like we were playing on the team.  No joke - the dogs have ran like we're yelling at them!
Finals for the women tonight... USA vs USA!!! This is going to be fun ... I'm partial to Misty May Traynor because she was on Dancing with the Stars... Ricky likes the other team because of the tall blond player... we'll have a battle in our house tonight...
Source: google.com via Ace on Pinterest

6. What would you label as the messiest room in your house?

HA... chuckling... giggling... HAAAAHHAAAAA

Can I say, EVERY STINKING ROOM?
My house is in serious discord right now...

but the "messiest"...
probably my library

This used to be the room that was so organized...
But when I started with photography, I ended up throwing all my props & lighting equipment in there.. & now?  Its chaos!!!!  Anyone want to do a makeover on my house & help with organizing?

7. Do you follow your heart or your head?

I'm usually a "heart follower" .... I think it was growing up with my mom having Wizard of oz on a loop.... The Tinman influenced me...

My husband, very much a "head follower" .... so we balance each other out

I think there's a book in this idea...I'll call it "Tinman & Scarecrow"

...Told you my mom influenced us with Wizard of Oz

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

I dont get all the excitement over this Mars thing...

So we know more about a planet that we'll never go to... Whooo Hooo!!!

Wouldnt that money have helped out country with unemployment & health insurance costs? ....mmmm....

I'm no politician, but I'm also not stupid....

Wait... did I just think with my head?  Woooooowwwww!!!!

Be ready...

I'm sitting at my desk at work looking out my window this morning...

there is a little kitten sitting by the garage door...

behind the garage is a bunch of wild kittens & the guys in the shop always throw out food for them, fresh water - they take care of them...

Today, this little kitten is probably wondering where his friends are at...

See, yesterday, one of the guys in the garage called in sick... he said he wasnt feeling very good...

... we got a phone call about 3 hours later that he has passed away...

completely out of the blue

Apparently, he drove himself to the ER because he still wasnt feeling good...

& died of a massive heart attack as he was walking into the hospital...

its one of those things that dont seem real...

We see this guy Monday - Friday... such a nice guy... would do anything for us if we needed work around our offices...

except change a light bulb... he was terrified of heights & couldnt get on a ladder

He's gone...

And then I turn on the TV last night & saw there was once again another shooting

... all that I kept thinking last night, was "were these people ready"...

Its awful enough when you know someone is sick & you know they're life is nearing the end on this earth... they get a chance though to say those last prayers of forgiveness, to wrap up loose ends, say things they should have said...

but so much lately, we're reminded that you dont always get those last days, hours - even minutes...

Sometimes, life is just gone... in a second...

We need to be ready...today... now...

Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow.
What is your life?
You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
 -James 4:14

Weekend WrapUp

Weekend Wrap-up at a Defined Life

Why do weekend fly by so fast?

Here's a glimpse at mine...

1.  Women's Marathoning!!!! .... I had to be at church at 8:15 so I got to catch the first part of the women's marathon, but didnt get to see the end.  Sweet Hubs text me the time, but I wanted to check it out for myself, so hello Mr. DVR... How those women can run that far & not even look out of breath? I dont get it...

2.  Keurig Samples... Found these at Bed, Bath & Beyond.  So glad because I've wasted $14.99 way to many times for stuff that tastes like yuckiness.  This time, I wasted $2.99... this iced Vanilla coffee?  DISGUSTING!!!

3.  FUNNY... yes, that's a wrench & yes, the title is FUNNY.  We had to go to Home Depot & get a pipe wrench so Ricky could fix my shower.  I was looking at it & playing around with it, when Ricky hit his funny bone on it.  LOUD!!!  He didnt find it funny... I found it quite funny.  I laughed for awhile... Its a funny bone afterall.  I wanted to make sure it lived up to its name.

4.  Lazy Olympic Day...Saturday, I dont think I even ran a comb through my hair.  I was so dang lazy.  I just got caught up on my Real Housewives of New Jersey & then, back to the Olympics I went... the men's 10K... done in 30 minutes.  My mind BLOWS at the speed & endurance of these people.

5,  Belly Pillow... this is what I woke up to on Saturday.  Bruno loves to lay on someone - anyhow, anyway...

6.  Fresh Lemonade ... I had a bunch of lemons that were going to go bad, so I attempted to put them in my juicer.  It didnt squeeze out what I considered to be a lot of lemon juice.  Was I wrong. I added water to make it fit in this container, but it was STILL too lemony.  Yes, I added one cup of sugar. It probably needed more, but didnt want too much sugar... so I took this & poured about a quarter in a glass & filled the rest up with water & it tasted pretty good.

7.  Date Night ... Ricky took me to see Batman & then our favorite Japanese place.  I'm going to take a stand & say, I didnt care for Batman one bit.  At one point, I was ready to go.... just bored... the last 30 minutes redeemed itself where I at least can say, it was "meh"

8.  Fortune ... this fortune from a cookie has been in my purse for years... every time I see it, I say, "yep"...such a smart cookie!

9.  Speaking of cookies... such a sweet cookie... The Hubs got me an iced sugar cookie... my favorite

Not Pictured

* Craving breadsticks... that lazy Saturday had me wanting carbs.

* New youth faces.  It was promotion day, so new kids in our Jr. High class.  It freaks me out to see how LITTLE they are when they come to us... & to know when they graduate, they've shot up a few feet & look like adults.  Such a cool age to be with.

Hope everyone has a great week!!!

Rock N Roll all night... party every day...

Friday Fragments has been put off a week to talk about our big night...

Wednesday night, Ricky & I had a date...

We were headed out to Ricky's dream place...

The KISS Concert

KISS is to Ricky, as to Steven Curtis Chapman is to me.

He's seen them 9 times... this would be my 2nd time... we were both excited to see these old fellows do their rockNroll thing

The concert started out with a group called "The Treatment" - a young group from Great Britain.  They had some catchy tunes.  But you could tell no one really cared to hear them... bring out the big guns.  We felt bad for them actually.  But Ricky reminded me that even if no one paid attention, its still better then playing in a bar.

It seemed to take forever for the concert to start... the tickets said 7:00 - well, Motley Crue didnt come on until after 8:00...

Wow... let's just say, we were embarassed watching Motley Crue...

It was just so raunchy...

I was embarassed for the kids (yes, parents brought kids to the concert) & teens.  There were a few teen boys behind me & all I could think about was the kids in our youth group.

(I do have to note... the kids that were at the concert, most were dressed like KISS... some were AWESOME!!!... there was one little boy that was FULL Paul Stanley geared up.  People were taking his picture all over the place.  Watch out Julie... I can see Ricky getting Isaac and/or Luke dressed up next)

I liked Motley Crue growing up... & liked Vince Neil on The Surreal Life... but WOW... (that's all I can say)... every other word out of his mouth was the F-word... like it was oxygen or something.  And there were girls on the stage in the most minimal clothing I've ever seen on a female.

At one point, I even thought about the girls & thought in my mind, "What happened in their life that they had to do this for a living?"... it was THAT bad...

Motley Crue put on a BIG SHOW... but it was like it lasted FOREVER!!!!  They ended up playing over an hour & a half...

Come on... we want KISS!!!

KISS fans are the best

Then they had to take the Crue's stage down & put up KISS's stage...

So it was like 10:45 before KISS hit the stage...

Dont people know it was a work day?  We were up before the sun rose that day... I was wearing down.  I think most people were.  People were yawning & wearing out.

But KISS jolted everyone up....

But you could tell from the beginning, Paul Stanley's voice was missing something.  Scratchy... tired...

I follow them on Twitter & Facebook & saw they had done 2 concerts before - so the 3rd day in the row?  His voice was gone.

Makes me wonder if they HAD Motley Crue play long to wear out the time...

Gene Simmons covered a LOT for Paul's voice...

I kept noticing in the big screen, Gene Simmons had on his wedding ring... good job Shannon!

It was still a great concert... but short.

It was like, BAM & they were doing the last song.

Ricky even looked at me when they came out for a bow & said, "THIS IS IT - ITS OVER" ... it wasnt as long as their usual concerts.

Dont know if they had to be out by midnight - which was cutting it close - or what happened... But it wasnt the KISS concert Ricky was used to.

But, we did have great seats... & while we were disappointed, we had a great time & enjoyed seeing these old guys still ROCK OUT!

I'm just glad we took the day off work the day after... because these guys may ROCK OUT at 60 years old... but I was beat down at 40 & couldnt even imagine my alarm going off 4 hours after I got home.

I wont be surprised to still be seeing these guys touring when they get into their 70's... they still know how to ROCK!!!....

... & Ricky will still want to see them...

He has grandchildren that need to learn all the ways of KISS afterall :)

We ROCK N ROLLED all night... but I didnt party every day... I choose to SLEEP

Hodgepodge - Volume 87

*Click the button above to join... & please note, the questions are not written by me - but by the wonderful host of Hodgepodge...

1. I'm joining my daughter1 in the 101 in 1001 challenge. Essentially you create a list of 101 things you want to accomplish or do in the next 1001 days. What's one thing you'd put on your list?

Catch up on my laundry... my pile is almost as tall as I am...
....I so wish I was joking...

2.   How many remote controls do you have in your house? What's one item in your home you wish could be run by remote control?

I have no idea how many remotes we have... mainly because most of them are LOST.  I know my TV works on 2 remotes.  The one that works the power & sound.  The other that works the DVR box.

The TV downstairs that I use to workout with?  I have to control 3 different remotes - one for the TV, one for the sound & one for the DVD player.  Its a tad crazy...

What do I WISH ran by remote?  Emptying the Dishwasher... Where are the days of The Jetsons where everything was by remote???? Its 2012 people... I want these things to come to life!!!

3. What does having it all mean to you? Is it attainable?

I cant wrap my mind around the question... all I can think of is Veruca Salt from Willy Wonka..

4. What's your favorite movie soundtrack?

Fun fact - I am a movie soundtrack NUT!!! Evidence even shown from the previous question - the first thing that popped in my mind was a soundtrack song...

Here are just some that are in my car, as we speak (or type):

Moulin Rouge
My Best Friend's Wedding
Runaway Bride
Clueless
Grease 2...COOL RIDER!!!!
Xanadu (of course!!!!)
I have about every Disney cartoon Soundtrack too...

& does Glee count?  I have all of those too :)

I think I even have a "Soundtrack" station on Pandora that I play sometimes :)  I know on my DVR, there is a music station with that... love it!

5. Describe the best view you've seen from a rooftop?

...I've never been on a roof in my life...

But a nice view?  I'm a simple gal - I love when we had a balcony in Gatlinburg & could sit out & watch all the hustle & bustle of the street ... & have the mountains right in sight...

Or even being IN the mountains in a cabin & sitting on the deck, in rockers, in the mountains...

Nothing as beautiful to me as mountains & trees & nature...

6. What's your least favorite thing about summer?

Sweaty bras

7.  Our weekly Hodgepodge lands on the first day of August. In ten words or less sum up your July.

I feel like I'm on Twitter- limiting my words... (That didnt count as my answer)

Miserably hot, celebrating birthdays, seeing grandbabies faces,
& COLOR RUN!

YEAH! Did it... 10 words!

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

The Hubs & I have really enjoyed watching Beach Volleyball in the Olympics...

& Synchronized Diving...

Who knew these were fun sports to watch?

...when you're rooting for USA, anything is fun to watch...

& how did Michael Phelps loose by a few MILLISECONDS????!?!?!?  That's insane to me. ... the agony of defeat...

Color Run 2012

I registered for The Color Run MONTHS ago... & then, like time does, it FLEW by & it was this past Sunday...

We set the alarm clocks for 5:45 .. & thank goodness my body is just used to getting up that time, because I set the alarm for Saturday - not Sunday... I woulda been MAD if we overslept.

But up we were & getting all the gear on.  & by gear, I mean bandanas to cover Julie's blond hair & coconut oil in my hair to keep the powder from sticking.  I braided mine but it looked like I hadnt washed my hair in DAYS with the oil that was in it.

We were debating on whether to take the boys with us.  The idea was that Ricky would push the boys in the stroller, but we were worried.  First, Isaac isnt a big fan of getting dirty... & plus, they were going to be cranky getting up at 6 am.

They ended up waking up fairly easy - & by easy, I mean Julie dressed Luke without him even knowing he wasnt in bed.

On our way & found a great parking spot thanks to my hubs who knows secret parking areas in Downtown... Off to follow ALL the people in white...

(This was taken by a local photographer who captured the race)

It was kinda weird seeing so many people, looking the exact same.  White everywhere...

Ricky was still debating about the boys, but when he tried to ease the stroller in the crowd, he knew it was a no-go... so he just headed the opposite way so he could be at the finish line & watch all the color activities...

Julie & I eased our way up front....

They were letting the crowd go in 1,500 intervals, every 5 minutes so the color areas wouldnt be overwhelmed at once.

Julie & I started in the 4th wave... but weaseled our way up to the front of the 2nd wave.  Not sure how we did it, but we did... & I'm not sure of the rules for that?  No one seemed to care...

(Start Line.. all clean & crisp.... wouldnt stay this way for long)

I felt bad for the DJ guy in the booth at the starting line - he kept trying to get the crowd going - but I know for a fact, at the back of the line, there werent speakers so they couldnt hear anything....

But when our wave was up, they reminded us that it wasnt a timed race - this is just a FUN RUN - so have FUN!!!!

We were off....

It seemed like no time & we came up on Orange.

Now, it was a little creepy seeing a big cloud of smoke ahead & knowing you would run into it.  & orange in cloud?  Looks more like brown... it looked eerie.

But we ran in & realized this stuff is THICK!!!!  Its hard to breath in these clouds... but luckily, we're moving so its not long.... I dont know how the volunteers stayed in it the whole time.

We got really lucky too - its been HORRIBLE with the heat & humidity & this weekend, it broke.  It wasnt 'cool' by any means, but the humidity was tolerable & it wasnt 103 by 8 am.  But when you got in a crowd of 9,000 people, it got a little stuffy.  Perfect sweating conditions for powder to stick even more.

Yellow powder... still running towards the sun... HOT!

The route was straight, flat & nice.  There was a turn around point & then you headed back.  I thought it was cheesy that some people realized there was no color at the turn around point, so they just cut over & didnt do the full 5k... dont know why I care, but I wanted to point & yell, CHEATER!!!!!  ... I didnt... out loud... in my mind, I was making a huge scene though.

Pink powder ... we still cant figure out if it was red or pink... it just blended to a weird color.

After that color cloud, was a water stop - THANK YOU JESUS... but the water was so hot. eewww... I actually just used it to rinse the powder out of my mouth.

onto the Blue... Julie said that my tongue was blue when we went through there.  My mom, the blue freak, would have just sat in an Indian style position in that color all day long & let it soak into her skin.

This picture was taken through a plastic bag... & in the midst of the blue powder... but was trying to show my blue tonue for my  mom

Finish Line... it seemed like it was no time & we were done.  We kept an eye out for Ricky & the boys... & of course, missed each other.  He was at the finish line, but we didnt see them.  It was so crowded ... with 9,000 people & their family waiting at the end?  It was the biggest 5K I've ever seen in my life.

Onto the COLOR BURST!!!!
(Me & Julie are right there in the middle of the cloud)

We'd thought the boys might want to get in on this... nope... the grumpys had taken over & they wanted no part of any of this.  So what do we do? Leave them with Pappy & run & do the color burst anyways.  We earned the right to be colorful.

We got our packets - I had green & yellow... Julie had yellow & another color... (I cant even remember... does powder destroy brain cells???) ... but we were looking for someone with purple & pink.  We ended up being next to girls with blue & red & another girl with purple behind us.  We were set...

While the DJ was pumping everyone up with music & counting down, I kept taking finger pinches of color & throwing on people's backs... it made a cool pattern, but this one girl saw me do it to her friend & she looked at me like I was insane.  Hello young lady - if you dont want color on you, then get out of the crowd of 1,500 people who are going to throw powder on you...

3...2...1... COUGH COUGH COUGH COUGH COUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was NUTS!!! Everyone threw their powder in the air, on each other, some may have just snuffed it up their nose... everything was just a weird brown shade all around.  Julie was like "We gotta get outta here!!!" so we ran into fresh air...

& here was our final result of color

I think we look beautiful! :)

& yeah, maybe Julie had the right idea with the covering of her hair... here was mine at the end of the day....

Yep - that's green & yellow... with a dash of red...

But with the coconut oil, it honestly just washed out.  That water was the coolest water EVER to come off my head.

I knew a few friends were down running the race & my friend Lynn sent me a text & said to get ahold of Carly... we found each other & then she said, "nice socks"... haha!  We had on the same ones.  Great minds think alike...

We look like oompa-loompas in that picture above...

I'm just glad I wore sun glasses....

Ricky had covered the seats in garbage bags & we had towels to sit on so the car was good.

But Ricky made us strip down in the garage.

Here's Julie's legs after taking off her shoes & socks...

It even soaked through her socks onto her toes!!!!

I had on 2 pairs of socks so my feet were good...

Off to the showers though...

We were clean & sitting around relaxing, tired... & then Julie got up to walk out of the room & we noticed her back...

It wouldnt come off either.  Ricky SCRUBBED with alcohol & it STILL wouldnt come off...

(She told me yesterday that she still found purple on her ears too)

I have to say, if this race comes to your area - do it...

it was so much fun... hoping it comes back next year.  But I also know it sold out in Nashville in a few hours & sold out in Cincinnati already for next year!!!!
Its the place to be....

Now, I've got to spray down our shirts with vinegar so they hold their color... want to keep this memory...

& instead of getting a medal for this run, we got something even better.... these headbands...

No joke, mine is going with all my other medals... & it may be my favorite...

I am a COLOR RUNNER!!!!

Weekend Wrapup

Weekend Wrap-up at a Defined Life

Picture Overload... you ready?

(Again - note that pictures are backwards... for you Instragramers out there - is there a way to reorder them?  Gotta check that out)

Weekend of 07/27-07/29/12

Left to right - then down

1. EXHAUSTED ... this was at Penn Station.  Everyone was exhausted after this weekend.  Julie was getting ready to head home with the boys but we needed some food.  We couldnt keep the boys awake.

2. Tatted up grandbabies ... we got these tattoos in our swag bag.  We meant to put them on our faces for the race, but it was a tad crazy getting ready - so we put them on the boys.  Isaac wouldnt pose for a picture for me... Luke?  Always ready to show something to the camera.

3.  Spiderman ... these boys love their super heroes ... Pappy is so proud

4.  SweatBand Medals ... No medals for this run, but a headband that is COLORFUL.  I love the way they looked...

5.  COLOR!!! .... after the race.  I'm doing a post about the run tomorrow

6.  CRAZY Packet Pickup - we went to pick up our packet & thought we'd be in & then right out. HA!  The line was coming OUT of the door.  It took about 45 minutes to get it.  I've been in races with 18,000 people & it take 10 minutes to get the packet.  This was insane.  Luckily, we had awesome ladies around us that got to talking about races... specifically DISNEY RACES they've done.  I was ready to walk out & book a flight to Disney then & there!!!

7.  Girl Time.... We went to the mall & Ricky took the boys with him, while Juie & I got our faces done.  I've never done it before.  But I ended up buying some Bare Minerals make up... here's my face when they were done with me.

Not a great picture... but I thought it made my skin healthy looking...

8.  Cutest Backpack ever... look at Luke with his backpack.. He wanted to carry it.  of course its a must because it holds diapers, cups, wipes.. & TOYS!  It's almost as big as he is.

9.  Shopping isnt his thing... Isaac got a little bored in TJ Maxx ... these baskets are so tiny there that he couldnt stretch out.  But kids are awesome that they can sleep anywhere pretty much.

10.  NINJA!! ... actually, this is a sword from a new Thor toy that Pappy got them.  Luke was all about stabbing Nanny.  Good times.

11. FINISHED!!! ... Chasity came over on Friday & we laid out the wedding pictures & organized them into the album. You'd think that'd be easy - right?  Think again.  Go from 400 pictures to 300... & then place them in order.  It took about 3 hours.  No joke.  But the end product?  BEAUTIFUL!  I give the clients their album next week. YIPEE!!!

12.  Think someone loves bananas? .... Julie asked if I could pick up some bananas on the way home for when the boys & her got in.  I KNOW the boys love bananas so I got 3 bundles.  Do you know when they left, there are like 3 bananas left.  No joke.  I have little monkeys for grandbabies.

EXTRA PICTURES

Wake up call... This is why I love to be closer to the boys.  I get to see cute smiles in the morning... in the midst of wrestling... with swords & Ironman guns...

Isaac loved this book.. "Its the COOLEST book"... my heart was proud to hear those words.  Mainly because it was a Beauty & the Beast book :)  It was a pop-up book that also you have to pull some papers & it makes things move on the pages.  You'd think it was top-notch technology.

I love this picture.... the boys LOOOVVVEEE Pappy.. (or Poppy for Luke - they both call him something different)... they love playing with him, tickling him, jumping on him, hanging out with him, watching Superhero movies with him... just being next to him.  It makes my heart smile.

Not Pictured:

* Luke falling off our front porch when the dogs come running outside... & then he was only crying because he couldnt find his toy.  That is one tough kid.

* Olympics!!! ... was so disappointed about the lighting of the torch.  Wanted someone famous....

* Let the games begin.  I am amazed at the athletes... cant wait to watch the next 2 weeks.

It was a crazy, busy, weekend ... loved every minute of it.

Come back tomorrow for more pictures & the story of the Color Run

Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

Woke up with a stuffed up nose, ears aching & sore throat... YIPEE!  I think it's just sleeping under all the fans.  After I got up & drank some water, things eased up.  Please sweet baby Jesus - dont let me get sick... I've got a big weekend ahead... let's discuss it, shall we?

*****
What's so big this weekend?
Only the fact that I'm going to be COLORIFIC!!!!

Sunday is the big day where people throw powder on me like I'm wearing a fur
... & I dont punch them in the face for it...
... & I pay money to let them do it...
America is a great place to live

But even better?  Julie is coming up & doing it with us.
I say 'us' because we're not sure if the grandbabies are going to dig it
so Ricky is going to either be at the finish line with confused little boys, thinking, "OK, its cool if we throw things on people" ... or he's going to be in the middle of it pushing 2 little boys in a stroller while they laugh at each other for turning into pink/yellow/purple/green monsters
Its gonna be FUN!!!!!

******

I've got my shirt on backwards today...

& no, its not a 80's tribute to Kris Kross
(How many of you just sang "Jump Jump" in your head?)
(How many of you have no clue what I'm talking about?)

I actually like my shirt that way....

Its got a keyhole opening in the front & when I sit down,
let's just say, its not office appropriate.
Its not appropriate anywhere actually

Its sleeveless & the neckline works to turn it around
& the keyhole actually looks cute on the back

Score one for my fashion genius.

*****

Storms last night...
& we couldnt find Sydney

Look where we found her...

Poor baby cant fit under the bed anymore - but this is better then nothing I guess

*****

Is Kristen Stewart stupid or what?

The premiere of Breaking Dawn Part 2 ... how do you think that's going to be?
Let's just say.... AWKWARD!!!!

& on the flip side of that?

How awesome is Christian Bale?

Going to the hospital to visit the injured & to the memorial site & prayed with the people gathered?  Now that's class!  I've never been a huge fan of Christian Bale...
but my ranking of him just went up 90%

*****

No secret - I'm a Big Brother fan
& of course, I'm pulling for local guy, Wil
But I'm also really rooting for Frank
Why?  Because there's something about him that reminds me so MUCH of Ricky
the way he carries himself, his personality - he even resembles him in some ways

So when Frank does something good, I'm always yelling at the TV 'Go Ricky'

& yeah -if Janelle had red hair, I'd look just like her...
its CRAZY, the resemblance!! ;)

*****

No joke, I think Bob Harper tried to kill me this week
Sweet, good looking, tattooed up Bob Harper from Biggest Loser
... he's a monster...

I just got his DVD in the mail
Its called "Inside out Method" Cardio Conditioning
I think its called that because you want to puke your insides out

Source: amazon.com via Rebecca on Pinterest

Its over an hour of squats & arm swings & burpees ...
Its been 2 days & the back of my legs are STILL hurting when I so to bend over or sit down
... or breath...

Looking for a good torture workout?  Get that DVD
If you dont like your body aching with every step?  Then stay away from it

Spat of the week: Strawberry Frozen Bars

I'd actually like to note - this WILL be a Spat
a 'Spat in the making', if you will

Why?  Because I just ate the last Strawberry Frozen Bar
& I promised Ricky he could have one

But life isnt fair
He has ate a half of a cherry pie, some birthday cake, half a dozen pastries,
a few chocolate bars, & I'm sure some other stuff full of sugar
(All within the past few days)

& guess what?
He's probably lost a pound this week
(working in the heat & walking over 13 miles a day does that to you)

Me?
I try to watch my calories, limit my sugar & deny any good thing to eat
& I'll gain 5 lbs this week...

so my treat sometimes are these amazing Blue Bell Frozen Strawberry Bars
(They are perfect for summer)

But I did promise Ricky one...
Dang it...
A spat will be brewing because I dont think its fair he can eat that other stuff
he'll think its not fair I didnt save him one

Sssshhhh....
I'm going out after work & getting a new box
... & I'll need to eat 5 of them so there's only 1 left

its a win-win for everyone

Maybe I can knix this spat in the butt

Hope everyone has a Fabulous Friday
