The weekend that we celebrated dads....

I know I get from a lot of people, "you weekends are busy"... & I'm so used to it, I don't think anything about it.

This weekend, even I was like, HOLY BUSY WEEKEND BATMAN!  I honestly felt like I was running the entire time. Last night, around 7pm, I finally sat down to try & relax before the week started again.  So about 2 - 3 hours of relaxing for the whole weekend?  I'm glad I got that....

Friday kicked it off for me.  I joined up with a virtual run with Gone for a Run - I have done a few virtual races with them. Their swag is fantastic if you want to check them out - they have a 4 mile race for the 4th of July coming up. ... but a few of my church friends said they wanted to do it as well so we set it up as an event together.

With it being Father's Day weekend & my Saturday already pretty full, we decided that Friday night at 8pm would be the best time.

I'm actually glad we made it that late.  First of all, it was the ONLY hour during the night that didn't get rain - thank you Lord.  & the humidity was so miserable that during that time of day, it was more tolerable.

It was pretty exciting because one of the ladies was just finishing up her C25K program & this was her first 5k.  I loved seeing her make a distance she's never done before.

#StandinCommand

Nothing like getting a medal at 9pm at night...

Race

Saturday had me up & out early with a photo session for our band at church.

Again - rain.  I hate you sometimes rain.

The only bad thing was, that limited our space in the church because, while our fellowship hall would have been a great place for pics - neutral walls, lots of light - there was a wedding shower going on.  So we were confined to the sanctuary that has not one bit of light. I'm not kidding. I am known to bring a flashlight to read my Bible in there.  It's THAT dark... plus, the colors are dark... & a dark red wall.  I know other photographers just wept at those conditions....  but while I grabbed pictures for what they needed to advertise, I'm not sure I captured what some were looking for. I was heart broken by the end of the night.  I hate when I can't meet expectations or where I'm limited & there's nothing I can do...

Troopers... it was lightly raining here actually

Momma said there'd be days like that...

But I ended up leaving the photo session & heading to celebrate a new baby coming in August.  I just love this family.  We've been neighbors since we moved to Greenville in 2001 & they are just the best family.  I keep asking them when they're going to officially adopt me.  Especially because the matriarch of the family makes these gorgeous quilts for everyone - I keep teasing her I'm waiting for my quilt.  She told me, "You have to do something amazing to get one".... well bummer, I'll never get one now.  haha

I left the shower to go meet up with Ricky & take care of a few errands we needed to do.  & by the time we got home, it was just enough time to edit pictures.

Sunday - bright & early - & Harvey Dent was ready to celebrate Father's Day.  it honestly was the funniest thing I have ever witnessed.  "Harvey" picked out a shirt for his dad.  I had it in a bag with a card from him & the other dogs.  I ended up putting it on his collar & told him to "Find Daddy'... he ran to Ricky so excited. I mean, EXCITED.  When he saw Ricky, he jumped up in his lap with this bag & Ricky got to laughing so hard.  Then it was like Harvey was trained... he jumped down & just sat while Ricky opened his gift.  When Ricky held it up & said, "Oh I love this"... Harvey instantly started getting excited, jump back up in his lap & was just trying to give his daddy kisses.  It was like he was really a small child looking for approval for the gift choice.  We laughed till we had tears in our eyes....

Then time to head to church... our friend Bobby was preaching.  We always love when he's up at the pulpit.  He just brings such fun & humor in his teaching & I think he's so relatable to everyone from little kids all the way to the mature adult.  I for one would NOT consider myself a 'mature' adult by the way.  I'm sure I'd have people second that notion.

Ricky & I ran out after church to grab some lunch & then it was time to go celebrate my daddy for Father's Day.

I don't understand my parent's house.  It was the hottest day... humid... yucky... but their house always has a breeze that just makes it so comfortable to sit out under trees on the porch & talk & drink tea... its like there's a AC unit God holds over their house.

it was time to play with animals while we were there... Ricky playing with the horse... me playing with all the bugs that were crawling up my legs eating the tar out of me. UGH!

Time enough to get home & for me to just get a few things done around there & like I said... 7 pm I was like, Sit down a sec.  I ended up spending the rest of the night looking for crochet patterns for a blanket for our couch.  I bought yarn during the Fall last year to make me a blanket & I'm ready to do it.  Can't wait. Love this yarn....

So now I'm finally at my desk at work.  Glad to take a breather. I'm ignoring the pile of mail that is basically a foot tall (I wish I was joking) because I gotta get a break in here somewhere.

I'll get started after I finish my iced coffee....

whew...

Thankful Thursday {Link Up #24}

Thankful Thursday

“Whatever happens in your life, no matter how troubling things might seem, do not enter the neighborhood of despair. Even when all doors remain closed, God will open up a new path only for you. Be thankful!”

This week, I am Thankful For:

... my dishwasher.  Ever since I've been cooking every morning & every evening doing this 21 Day fix, I'm running my dishwasher every evening.  I used to only run it once - maybe TWICE a week - just shows you how much I cooked before.  I'm so thankful I don't have to do dishes every night by hand.

... my sweet friend.  I got a card in the mail this week with a treat for Starbucks inside.  I seriously just stood reading this with my jaw hanging open & then got teary eyed at the kindness & thoughtfulness.

... our rose bush.  It's been so fun having roses this year.  They've been growing so beautifully.  I almost want to cut them all as soon they bloom as so I can bring them inside & put in a vase.

... Finished my latest yarn project.  Now I get to pick out what to start next. That's always exciting to me.  A new creation waiting to be made.

... celebrating our Grandbuddy's first birthday.

... office drama has come to a halt... for now. I'll take a peaceful environment whenever I can get it.

... Can I once again mention how thankful I am for my 'walls' at work.  Y'all don't even know how hard I prayed for this to happen.  I feel like I can be thankful for this every time & it wouldn't be enough.

... Having church friends to do the Color Run with this year.  I'm also glad we all found each other so easily in that crowd of people.  I get nervous about those sorts of things.

... Cheap race pics.  I love that the Color Run had their pictures for such a deal.  High Resolution Downloads for $3.99... I know some races, just one picture is like $35.00 - $50.00 ... CRAZY!  Don't they know they'd sell a lot more if they were affordable?

... always thankful for those of you that take time to link up with me.  I have yet to have one week where I've done this by myself.  I love seeing what others are thankful for.  Joy is contagious.  #truth

What are you Thankful for this week?

Confessions...hashtag style...

I haven't gotten things off of my chest in awhile... let's clear the air

I confess:

... Is Donald Trump for real running as President.  The man has more money then he knows what to do with apparently.  I don't know much about politics but I can't even for the life of me see how he has any chance.  & if by some blue moon he DID win the Republican nomination, I'd have to say, it'd be pure 100% entertainment.  It would probably get me to care more about politics.  #TheHairForPresident

... I can't tell you the difference 5 panels around my desk makes.  It feels like my own little secret hideaway now. #dontfindmetill4pm

... I loved Jurassic World. It was great.  But I hate to hear they are going to make another series of movies of it.  No. Don't do it.  They're going to take a good thing & make it dumb.  Anyone remember Jurassic Park 2?  Just no. I need a few 20 years before I see a T-Rex fighting again.  #DinoOverload

Best meme ever!

... I will confess - I did like Jurassic Park 3 though.  But still ... no.  #GivememoreChrisPrattasStarLord

... my right quad last night started burning like it has been scratched, but no marks, no redness - just feels like my skin is on FIRE!!!  I went to Google what it could be this morning & the first thing that came up was an article labeled "26 health issues related to burning skin"... OH HECK NO... ABORT ... ABORT.... Nothing good comes from health searches on the internet  #dontlook

... I looked.   & I'm dying.  #Ihateyouinternet

...the biggest issue for skin issues is stress.  Ya think?  Especially when the internet tells you its either a.) Stress or b.) Probably an awful disease that will have you in a home facility needing assistance till you die.  Why would that cause stress?  #Stillhateyouinternet

... who am I kidding. Without the internet, I wouldn't be able to watch all the funny videos of things that make no difference in my life.  #funfordays

... Anyone loosing interest in The Bachelorette?  As much as I hate Ian's delivery to Kaitlyn this week, I gotta say, I kinda get his point. I do think she's just there to have fun & make out with guys. She doesn't seem to be taking this seriously.  As seriously as the Bachelorette can be taken I guess.  I'm just watching so I can see which guy becomes the next Bachelor.  #letitbeShawnB

... Anyone else watching The Whisperers?  I really am intrigued by it now, probably only because it has the guy from Revenge on it & the guy from Heroes.  But I can tell its going to turn into something stupid. I always hate when it turns out to be an alien & you already see it going there.  #ETaintEvil

... Someone told me at work they keep their AC usually around 65 degrees. WHAT?!?!?!  Is that normal?  We usually put ours DOWN to 75 when its really hot outside.  & it feels perfectly wonderful on hot days.  I can't even imagine 65 degrees.  & cant imagine even more their utility bill. #ratherspendmoneyonclothes

So what's on your mind today?

The weekend that I was colorful....

Here we go.. into another week.  I was so not ready for the alarm to go off this morning.  Like, I was ready to cry real tears about it.  But you gotta put on your big girl pants & get out the door to tackle yet another day.

I tackled the weekend, that's for sure.

Saturday, I had to get up bright & early for The Color Run.  I was scared it was going to be miserably hot - & while it was quite warm, it wasn't miserable.  The humidity hadn't kicked in that early.  & maybe the distraction of friends helped too.

Ricky actually sat this one out knowing I was going to meet some ladies from my church... but ever the worrier for me, he stayed with me on the phone until I found them.

I really loved doing it with a group.  Every time we would run & then walk, I'd find myself with another person to talk to until we took off running again.  I love talking to people, learning more about them... & its not every day & with everyone you can talk about weak bladders with.

The funniest/saddest part of the race - well, this race is labeled "The Happiest 5K in the World"... which it is. Full of color, full of families, full of kids... but the course took us right past an abortion clinic where at least a hundred people were out protesting.  & I guess because we were an audience running by, a guy with a megaphone turned & was yelling at us.... "THERE IS A HOLOCAUST GOING ON IN HERE"... "INNOCENT LIVES ARE BEING KILLED RIGHT NOW"... all holding up signs & pictures of mutilated babies.  OK... I get you have your cause, but there are little LITTLE kids running right in front of you.  Really?  You have to wave your signs to everyone?  I was a little sickened about it & you don't know how badly I wanted to go over & tell the people to be considerate of the families going by... its a good thing I was with a group to keep up with or I probably would have.

But I said, Funniest part... none of that is funny - obviously - but as we're going by & this guy is just screaming, a lady next to me said, "Well, so much for the happiest 5k in the world".... I turned around & looked at her & said, "Well, that drama escalated quickly"... everyone around us started laughing.  I'm always one to throw out a line from Anchorman.

Something had to lighten the mood.  Geez.

But we finished up our race, went to the color party where you are doused one final time with color.

I will say, I LOVED that they had the pretty glitter this year. It was so pretty.  On people with tan skin, it looked amazingly beautiful. On me, it just looked like a really bad fake tan.   But my car STILL has glitter blowing around in it.

I had to get home & scrub quick... we had a party to get to.

Our Grandbuddy, Emerson - her birthday party was going down.  Today is actually her first birthday... can't believe these babies are growing up.  We saw a video right as we were leaving of our youngest grandson WALKING.  Oh my goodness.  It brought tears to my eyes.  Babies don't stay babies for long, do they?

But the party went great.  I think Miss Emerson has enough clothes to last her for this whole summer.

I forgot to take a picture... I ended up finding her some Nike running shorts... I didn't even know they MADE running shorts in baby sizes.  I want to frame them after she grows out of them... maybe put it on a key chain? :) haha they were so tiny!

Ricky & I ended up going out to dinner & decided to make it a date night & headed out to see Jurrassic World.  Well, we tried the first time.  The theater was sold out, so we went to Target to bide time... always costing me at least $50.00 to just enter & leave Target - don't ask me how that works... but we headed over to the movies a half hour early & do you know the theater was ALREADY like 95% sold out.  If we waited another 5 minutes, we would have had to wait for the next movie.

OH MY GOSH... it was great.  If you liked the other Jurassic Parks, you'll LOVE this... & of course, Chris Pratt. Enough said.

Needless to say, we were ready to wind down quick when we got home...

Sunday was the usual day at Merge... Ricky & I had the best conversation with the kids in small group.  They were all talking, we laughed, we had some serious talk, some good prayers lifted... it was a great day.  Do I ever mention how much I love those kids?  I do...

& really, the rest of Sunday was getting things done.  We ran to the grocery, I had to meal prep for my 21 Day Fix this week, bill had to be made out... the usual grown up, adult stuff... yuck.

& then last night, I couldn't for the life of me go to sleep.  It doesn't help when you have this huge 65 lb dog who hogs the bed.  You think I'm joking when I say that Harvey Dent takes over the bed?  He loves to sleep right next to us, cuddled up on our pillows with us.  He'll lay there all night long.

... but I eventually drifted off... with a dog paw in my face....

& we're off to a new week!

Hope your weekend was great!!!
