1. Watermelon Jolly Ranchers hold a special place in my heart! When I was little, my aunt owned the nursery school/kindergarten I went to. Her sister, my grandmother, would sometime work there or just come in & visit since everyone knew her & loved her. During nap time, since I was "special" - Teenie (my g-ma) would sneak me out & we'd go shopping at the local 5 & 10 store & she'd always get me Jolly Ranchers - had to be the Watermelon flavor too! And if I did end up falling asleep during nap time - she'd have a Jolly Rancher waiting on me! After all these years, I never look at them & dont think of her. I even have some on my desk in my candy dish right now.... When she passed away, I tucked a Watermelon Jolly Rancher with her in her casket... she always put one by my pillow - I left one for her...
2. Another fun fact... I'm obsessed at looking at people's eye brows... WHY? you may ask? Because I love watching make over shows, & all things make up ... well, I've noticed when they put on eye makeup, the distance between the eye lid & the eye brows aren't that high... cue to me - I have a HUGE distance between my eye brows & my eye lids... don't know why - but it bothers me & now I look to see if anyone else is like that. I've told Ricky & he looks now too. He did tell me when Michael Jackson died that he had a high eye brow... thanks honey! I'll just say I look like the picture here - a classic Barbie!
3. Lastly - I cant kill bugs... I feel HORRIBLE if I do... Maybe I've watched too many Disney cartoons cause I think of their little bug families at home waiting on them - I don't know what it is - I just feel horrible! I even ran in the middle of a Jazzercise class one time to pick up a bug because everyone wanted to stomp on it... I've carried many bugs out of the office to the outside world to freedom instead of having screaming co workers slam them with binders!
One time, at Steph's house during Christmas, there was a HUGE spider. I wouldn't let them kill it & no one could catch it - it was a jumpy sucker. I ended up getting it in my hands. Little booger BIT ME!!! He wouldn't LET GO of my finger! I literally had to shake him off! It ended up getting scary because my whole finger up to my elbow went NUMB! I thought I was going to have to go to the ER on Christmas Eve because I tried to save a spider. Everyone was like "HA - see, you shouldn't save them!"... hasn't stopped me though. Bugs are God's creation too!
So go see 3 others things about other Blog Hoppers! It'll be a fun day!
Love your blog!!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I can't believe you are obsessed with the space between eyelids and eyebrows, that is hilarious girl! I've never heard that before.
ReplyDeleteDefinately something I didn't know about you!
That is so sweet about the watermelon jolly ranchers! Those are my favorite also!
ReplyDeleteI knew about the bugs - but the eyebrows? I'll make sure to keep mine trimmed!
ReplyDeleteI look at peoples' eyebrows too, but I don't really do anything with mine except pluck now and then so I don't get a huge unibrow. I guess I look like Groucho Marks lol
ReplyDeleteHappy blog hopping! You have a very pretty layout on your blog!
http://www.atticgirl.blogspot.com
I already knew this but today's post confirmed it. You are a much better woman than I. I see a bug and it's DEAD! Especially if it's in my house. I am a huge jolly rancher fan. I don't eat candy but if I see a JR you can be sure I'll have one. I like watermellon and sour apple best.
ReplyDeleteYou have more guys than me or compassion I would say because I'd never touch a spider, haha!! :)
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that watermelon jolly ranchers are my favorite too, with sour apple coming in second. I desperately need to get my bushy brows waxed, but until I make an appt, I try to whacksaw them the best I can with a pair of tweezers haha! Hope your having a great week so far.
ReplyDeleteI love the story of your grandma!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun facts! I always enjoy getting to know my bloggy buddies better! Have fun hopping around today! :)
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and son-in-law don't believe in killing bugs of any kind. When they are visiting, we have to be mindful of not squashing any. They would much rather catch them in a jar and release them outside.
ReplyDeleteI also love watermelon jolly ranchers.
It is funny how a certain food can remind us of people. Chocolate covered graham crackers take me back to my childhood and visiting my "Nannie" (my mother's mother). To this day, I think of her everytime I see one.
ReplyDeleteMy sister is obsessed with eye brows too. Not me I just make sure mine look good... lol!
ReplyDeleteI love the jolly rancher story but I must say I am now craving one really bad.
Bugs.... I hate to kill them but I do often living in Florida.... We just have too many. I am doing nature a favor.
I can't kill bugs either! When my husband comes home, he always finds glasses all over the house with little bugs underneath them!
ReplyDeleteOk...the spider story creeped me out. Spiders are not allowed to live in my house, but I can't be the one to kill them either...cause I'm a huge chicken.
ReplyDeleteWe once had saw a huge spider between the hallway and the front door. I had to get the kids to school and would not leave with that thing still there. I knew it would still be there when I got home.
So, I tried to kill it, but I was scared out of my wits. The kids got the broom but couldn't get to it because it was wedged in a corner.
Still, I couldn't leave with it alive, so I finally got frustrated, grabbed the broom, and brought it down squarely on that spider.
When I did, out popped a gazillion baby spiders.
It had been mama spider with a pouch of babies.
I screamed bloody murder and ran for the kitchen, where I picked up bleach water and squirted the fire out of that entryway. Nothing would have survived the dousing I gave it.
Dead spiders=happy AuburnChick.
I hope you'll still be my blogging buddy. :-D
My deal with bugs is I'm not brave enough to approach them a lot of the time. I often ask others to get it. I'm not a sissy about other things, but I am about bugs...unless kids are around. Then I can keep my cool.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the watermelon Jolly Ranchers. I don't get them often, but they're indelibly etched in my memories.
ReplyDeleteI don't hesitate to kill bugs when they're in the house, though. This week I squashed a spider with my bare hands; it was so fast, I knew I'd lose it under the furniture if I ran to get a tissue.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
ReplyDeleteThat's hilarious about the eyebrow obsession.
As for your bug thing - you must not have many mosquitoes where you live :)
Oh no, you would take one look at my eyebrows and scoff at me!
ReplyDeleteI love Jolly Ranchers too but I like the green apple flavor! Do you remember those sticks they used to make? I think they were called Lick-a-Stix??
This is great. I think you have the ideal eyebrow situation. Makes your eyes look nice and open. I, on the other hand, have brows just above my lids. Gives me the sleepy eyed look :-( I always notice people's brows too; My boss is the same way with rescuing all bugs but when she is not there I vacuum them up *hangs head in shame*
ReplyDeleteeyebrows, haha!
ReplyDeleteThe only time I notice eyebrows is if they're not there, or horribly bushy. Too funny!
ReplyDeleteGreen apple jolly ranchers were my favorite. I love that you put one in her casket; that is just too sweet.
I love spiders outside in my garden, since they're eating all the other bugs. In my house? No thanks. Guess I'll be calling you next time Charlotte makes her way inside :)
Just blog hopping and loved your blog....
ReplyDeleteHow can I get the button for Kate McRae....She has been so on my heart
http://teresa-grammygirlfriend.blogspot.com/
That Jolly Rancher story is precious; I loved it.
ReplyDeleteI have NEVER noticed the distance between anyone's eyes and eyebrows.
P.S. Forgot to say that those rice cakes, while DELICIOUS, have absolutely NO nutritional value (other than carbs, I suppose.) Wish they did!
