Wednesday... about that time..
1. Americans will celebrate Labor Day this coming weekend. Do you know what we're actually celebrating? (without consulting your friends google or wikipedia, ahem) What's a project you're currently 'laboring' over?
Labor Day is an American federal holiday observed on the first Monday in September (September 3 in 2012) that celebrates the economic and social contributions of workers
& of course I didnt consult wikipedia... what would possibly give you that idea....
...ok... maybe I cheated... I just didnt want it to be some sort of military thing & I didnt know & then looked like I hated my country.
... I put too much stress on myself...
Anyhoo... I'm laboring on cleaning out my garage right now. With a new car, I dont want to leave it outside... it might get rain or too much sunshine on it.... & with snow coming soon? I want it tucked in my garage. I now have leather seats - I dont want icicles on my butt when I sit on it in the winter.
2. Labor Day also signifies the unofficial end of summer for most of us...what summer food will you miss the most? If you live in the Southern hemisphere feel free to substitute winter for summer.
I already miss fresh strawberries... but I'll miss yellow squash too... we've been downing it this year.
3. A well known proverb states, "It's easier to seek forgiveness than ask permission." Your thoughts?
depends... I know a lot of people who dont 'forgive' easily or very well... so then, you'd just be screwed...
I just wish I knew this well-known-proverb when I was young... I coulda done a lot more stuff...
... & be grounded a lot more too...
4. Food critic, film critic, art critic, book critic...which hat would you most like to wear?
Well, I do review a lot of books for some publishers so I first think, "book critic" - but I think I'm better with the title of "art critic" & by art, I mean things in photography
Now that I do pictures, look at pictures, study pictures... sorry people, but I disect everyone's photos... see the things that I would have done differently, changed, edited out, edited differently.. & see the things I love, want to steal the idea, want to try...
Plus, art critic makes me sound so cool... right?
5. When you were a kid, (besides your parents) who was your favorite adult?
Since we cant say parents, I'm just going with the idea of no family members...
dont want to step on anyones toes :)
I loved this man at church - his name was Herb... He would be waiting for me at the doors of church every Sunday with a piece of chewing gum. I'm telling you EVERY.SUNDAY... Juicy Fruit Banana Flavor... I still smell it & think of him all these years later
... & today, when I go to the dentist to get scheduled for my 8th root canal, I'll think of him once again
6. The astronaut Neil Armstrong passed away last week. He was regarded as a hero by many generations of people all around the world. Do we still have modern day heroes? What makes someone a hero?
I think we still have heroes...
A hero to me is someone who inspires... someone to helps others... someone who doesnt take 'no' for an answer...
I think people who are missionaries are heroes...
I think men/women in the military are heroes...
I think fireman & policemen are heroes...
I even think people who do things I dont think I could ever do are heroes...
Like this woman... Sister Madonna Buder... she's 82 & just did the Ironman! Seriously... 82 yrs old & knocked out 140 miles... & do you see her? She's smiling?
Yep... she's a hero in my book...
so I think the definition of hero is subjective & personal
7. I never get tired of __________________.
Laughing :)
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I got my hair 'did' last night & I swear... I dont know HOW they get it so straight..
My stylist chopped it up a little more to give it some bounce... I'm loving it...
Your hair looks great :) I can never get mine to look as good as it does when I just step out of the salon! 82 and in an Ironman! YIKES! Just added her as a hero in my book too :)
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, LOVE YOUR HAIR!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd let me see, DO NOT LOOK AT MY PICTURES!! All of them could be improved. All.of.them. I am NOT a photographer. I've thought about taking an online class or looking up some tips, but to be honest, it seems boring to me and I'm not even easily bored. Yeah, I'm pretty much being a girl here.
anyway.....
I LOVE YOUR HAIR!!!!! Have a I said that already? =)
I love you ~~ have a SUPER BLESSED day ~~ dawn
You're kidding, right? That woman is NOT 82 years old and she DID NOT just complete the Ironman! No way, no how! If that's truly the case, I feel like the biggest slug on the face of the planet!:) Oh, how I love both strawberries and squash...can never get enough!
ReplyDeleteLove the hair! It reminds me of mine - except I can't get it that straight either (AND my hair isn't nice & wavy like yours - I just look like a 12 year old girl who didn't "do" her hair).
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on who the real heroes are.
ReplyDeleteI like your style of writing too... all those dot dot dots...
( :
And, I agree that SOMEHOW the hair stylist can always do hair differently then we can. And, just how am I supposed to reach behind and get the back of my hair looking so good? Impossible!
I never get tired of laughing either! :) Your hair looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteI once asked my friend, a hairstylist, if she looked at people on the street and decided how their hair would look better, and she said, "Of course I do." So I guess it's what you artists do!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you on the heroes. Love the hair :)
ReplyDeleteWow, if that 82 y.o. nun can do the ironman, surely I can get to the gym more than once a week. ;-) Seriously, I'm in awe of her.
ReplyDeleteAre you serious ... going to the dentist to get your 8th root canal scheduled? Ouch!
