1. On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate your sense of direction? 1=can't find my way out of a paper bag and 10=if I've been somewhere once I can find it blindfolded ten years later.
When was the last time you looked at/used a map you could hold in your hand? (phones don't count!)
& I'm the person that once I've been somewhere, I'm good - I can make it back there no problem. Heck, even when we go out of state, I've been good at remembering places & turns. It actually drives me crazy that the hubs cant even remember the back roads to get home even when we've lived there 15 years.
The last time I used a map?.... I think on our honeymoon when we went to Gatlinburg & got on some back roads. Hello 1995 - well before cell phones. I always liked following big paper maps though, keeping my eye out for the next destination sign that would be on the map. It was like mini road goals.
2. Did you do more talking or listening yesterday? Is that typical? Describe your yesterday in one word.
I am a talker by nature... but I really do think I do more listening than talking on any given day. I know the Hubs would probably laugh at that... but its true.
& my yesterday in one word:.... gloomy.....
3. Time, money, water-power-resources, opportunity...which one on the list are you most guilty of wasting? What might you do to change that?
I'm pretty good at wasting money. I've been trying to get a better grip on it but I'm someone that sees something & wants it & hello - Amazon is just a click away. & really, do I TRULY need most of the things I get? Nah... I'm starting to be really aware of how much money is spent on things that just sit & are useless, taking up space & dust.
4. Did your family take regular vacations when you were a kid? Tell us something you remember about a family roadtrip from your own childhood.
Our family were big Gatlinburg people. We loved going down to see the trees change in the mountains. & we always loved going & seeing all the arts & craft things people made down there. Gatlinburg has turned into more of a box store town instead of the little mom & pop shops - which makes me a little sad. But the best memory for me is always miniature golf. It was some LEGIT competition happening every year.
5. If you could grow anything you wanted, what would you grow? Why?
Going back to #3 - you'd have to say MONEY! Right? ;) You did say ANYTHING!!!!!
But if I'm going to go with something REALLY to grow.. I'd say avocados. Those babies are EXPENSIVE now & I could eat them every day!!! mmmm... I'm craving one now.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
So everyone knows Friday is Friday the 13th, right? But Saturday is Saturday the 14th & I brought up to Ricky the movie - Saturday the 14th & he thought I was crazy. Anyone else remember that movie? It's like a comedy spoof on scary movies.... & so 80's - & TOTALLLLY 100% corny. But I honestly havent met anyone else that even REMEMBERS it. Come on - SOMEONE has to remember it....
Be sure to come back tomorrow & LINK UP with me for THANKFUL THURSDAY!!!
Ahh Galinburg, we got married there in a little light chapel back when it was more mom and Pop! It is sad all the commercialism but the smoky mountains are just glorious in their own right! Super FUN HODGEPODGE!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI have a really great sense of direction - it's actually something I pride myself on and yep very good at spending money LOL! xo, Biana-BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteYou and I are on the same wavelength when it comes to money and Amazon. I noticed on your sidebar that you gave A Man Called Ove 5 stars - another thing that we agree on! Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteI love mini golf! It was always a thing we did on family vacations as a kid and now it just feels like a special vacation activity to me :)
ReplyDeleteI have the absolute worst since of direction. I always, always get lost but as I tell everyone I always find my way to wherever I'm going too. And it wouldn't be a Tanya road trip if we didn't get lost at least once! :D I love avocados too and it makes me super sad that none of my friends grow avocados to share them with me. I do not remember Saturday, the 14th, but it would have the only kind of horror movie I would have been able to do back then. Wimp! Thy name is Tanya.
ReplyDeleteNope, never heard of Saturday the 14th! I would say that I do have a pretty good sense of direction.
ReplyDeleteI totally have a good sense of direction, it's something I'm quite proud of. Now my twin and my mom have the WORSE sense of direction EVER. Neither one can read a map! It's hilarious. I totally HATE mini golf, only because I'm so bad at it. Seriously, I'm the worse player alive.
ReplyDeleteI would grow money and avocados too. I mean, they are the same thing right?? Gatlinburg is seriously the best. We enjoy going up there every year after Christmas and it is so beautiful in the fall too.
ReplyDeleteMini road goals-ha! I have them too : ) My hubs is from a town not far from Gatlinburg, so we've spent a lot of time there. The mountains are still beautiful and we prefer the Townsend side, or the 'quiet side of the Smokies' as it's known. It's nice to see you here today!
ReplyDeleteI have NO sense of direction! I'm so glad Wayne is always DD!
ReplyDeleteWe drove over to Gatlinburg on OUR honeymoon! We actually stayed a couple of nights at Lake Lure NC (where they filmed part of Dirty Dancing) and then in a cabin in Maggie Valley NC, but we drove all over. It was SO HOT for December - ugh. Almost 27 years ago now...
ReplyDeleteI love paper maps. And just recently I was wishing I had one of the county I live in because I do NOT have a good sense of direction. I'll be like, why do I have to drive this way to get over there? I want to get a better picture in my head & my phone & mapquest aren't doing it for me.
I looked at the questions yesterday (didn't get around to posting though) and thought of money for #5 as well. LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteWe've been to Gatlinburg a few times. I just told Joe that I would really like to drive up that way for a couple of nights. I have never heard of Saturday the 14th but will have to look for it on Netflix now. LOL I enjoyed your Hodgepodge!!
ReplyDeleteAgain, I really think we're related. I remember watching Saturday the 14th - love that movie! I keep hoping some channel will put it on on a Saturday the 14th and they never do. Corny movies are the best - but these days, they'd just be straight to DVD or on a corny/cheesy cable channel.
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued by this Saturday the 14th movie, lol.
ReplyDeleteI think it's awesome that you can find any place a second time. It takes me quite a few trips before I get my bearings, lol!
I would grow avocados too. They are my favorite and I am now craving one!
ReplyDeletewhen people start using words like "north", "south" etc, I stop them and said "use words like Left, Right or Straight. thanks".
ReplyDeleteI use an A to Z book so feel a real sense of achievement when I get to turn the page as it means that I've kept us on track as navigator. I didn't even think of avocados - I'd definitely grow them as I could eat them every day and don't because they're expensive. Sorry, I've never heard of that movie and I was a teenager in the 80's.
ReplyDeleteFun to see you playing Wednesday Hodgepodge!! Love the cartoon on GPS & maps. I waste money too but I'm working hard at saying NO to myself. I love avocados too, they are the best....
