Glad to finally jump back in ... this COVID stuff just sort of shut my mind down from enjoying a book, but I finally have gotten my groove back in getting lost in a book. It's actually become quite a help the last few weeks. So I'm back! Ready to share some of the stuff I've been reading....

Daily Jones & The Six
*** / Liked It
Quick Summary: A documentary sort of book on a big rock N roll band in the 70's & the relationship between them all.
I know, as usual, I'm late to the game on this book.
This was enjoyable enough to me - I'm a big fan of different POV stories. & this was unique too how it was like a documentary. I like that sort of thing.
This gave me vibes from Eddie & The Cruisers (any one that grew up in the 80's will remember this... Tender Years.. oh my heart!) ... a little dash of Almost Famous.... & some Star is Born tension.
I really did enjoy some of the characters (Camilla, Karen & Graham, Billy & Daisy) - & didnt care about some others (Eddie mainly).... & I was held in the story - at least till half way. The back half got a little boring & old to me... & I was ALMOST ready to just skim through the last 25% of it - but right towards the end, it really picked back up & I thought it ended really well.
I saw at the end that the songs are written out that are mentioned throughout the book - it makes me wish they'd turn this into a movie - I'd love to see it come to life.
Women will crush you, you know? I suppose everybody hurts somebody, but women always seem to get back up, you ever notice that? Women are always still standing.
The Apartment

Quick Summary: A woman & her daughter get a once in a lifetime offer to move into a fancy apartment & soon, things just dont feel right about the place.
*Netgally book
This one held me in. It was a really fast read. Chapters were short & they held my attention in each one. It got a little strange at once point when we have some flashback chapters.... & how it ties to the end was a little confusing for me. But in the end, I still enjoyed the book & the little twists & mystery part of it all. Not the best book I've ever read, but passed the time well enough for me.
Why is that everyone can forget about physical ailments quiet easily, but when it comes to mental illness, it sticks like glue for the rest of your life?
Wundersmith: The Calling of Morrigan Crowe
***** / It was Amazing
Quick Summary: Morrigan Crowe starts going to school after passing her the challenge to enter the Wonderous Society
I put off reading this right after I finished book 1 because I didnt want to wait forever for the next book. Book #3 comes out in August & that already feels too long.
This one just reinforces how magical this series is - giving me STILL all the Harry Potter feels - but in a whole new world. Animals that talk, magical 'knacks', scary situation, not knowing who to trust... its all here.
I will say, I feel like this has some darker moments than Harry Potter - at least early on in the books - but I'm just excited to see where this goes & how it will all end. I'll be here for every single book that comes out!
“I don’t know what to tell you, Mog.’ Jupiter sighed. ‘Some people are brave bullies. Some people are friendly cowards.”
Tell me something good you've read lately!
