Fall day with Enola

 Hello Monday!

I've made it through my first weekend of Blogtober ... in case you missed it, here was my Saturday post & Sunday post... which Sunday was fun with all the cute finds I got out shopping.

So far, I'm enjoying all the freedom to my blog posting. & I may not do a Sunday post actually.  I mean, the Lord even says Sunday is a day of rest, right? :) We'll see... I mean, here we go again - Blogtober is about posting when I want.  All that to say, dont be angry IF you dont see a post on Sunday.  But I'll still do Monday - Saturday definitely.

Sunday was just a FALL day though - through & through, pure FALL.
It was so super chilly & gray & leaves were falling everywhere outside the window. To me, I loved it. You won't usually say hear me say that when the sun's not out but it did make my fall loving heart so happy.

After all the walking with on Saturday, my ankle.... whooof. It hurts. Bad. It's swollen in the weirdest way. Its right in front of the ankle bone that is so super puffy. & if I turn any sort of wrong direction, INSTANT TEARS.  And I've also learned, I can't move my 2nd to last toe.  Its like it dead. I dont feel anything in it either.  That can't be good.  I may be calling my orthopedic doctor today to get his thoughts on it and schedule an appointment.

I just stayed down as much as possible & stuck the RICE method....

The dogs were super happy about it.  More time to snuggle on the couch.

This was the perfect day to just sit still, relax & watch that new movie on Netflix - Enola Holmes.

SUPER CUTE!!!

I really enjoyed it. I think it would be a really cute movie for mom's to watch with their daughters too. Pure GIRL POWER! & so many good quotes & thoughts in it.  & Millie Bobby Brown is just so good in it. I love seeing her stretch outside of her Eleven character & cant wait to see everything she does in the future.

Plus... Henry Cavill.

I didnt even know the other Holmes brother was played by Me Before You actor... Sam Claffin. He totally didnt even look like himself in this movie.

I'll probably watch it again just because it's a cute one to enjoy. Giving me all the Anne of Green Gables feels. I really wish they would do some of these in like a series or future movies with more mysteries to solve.

I mentioned not too long ago how I love all the Merlin & Camelot  things... I also love Sherlock Holmes.  The movies with Robert Downy Jr .. loved those. Elementary on CBS - loved that show too ...& I just started watching the series on Netflix with Benedict Cumberbatch.

Except now, I'll watch it & want Holmes sister, Enola in it!

Which by the way, I really love that name.   I'm seeing that as baby names popping up in the next year or two.

But yeah... that was basically my Sunday....

& I loved every second of it.

Ernie apparently did too... look at how cute he is sleeping away the day.

To be fair, I did do a few loads of laundry.
But when you have to do one step at a time with a wonky ankle, I try to keep trips up & down steps limited.  I'm honestly not trying to make excuses for my laundry piling up :)

How was your weekend?

Do you like any of the Sherlock series?

Did you watch Enola Holmes yet?

Are you feeling all the Fall weather where you're at?

Shopping Saturday Haul

My Saturday's are typically just staying at home, reading, cleaning, or lately, putting my ankle up.

I knew I needed to go to Sam's Club to pick up some coffee & The Hubs was all ready to go out today so we headed out & ended up with a full car coming home.  Wanna see some of the things I got?

So I cant believe I havent picked up the book in the Twilight Saga before now. I just have overlooked it I guess - but I picked it up for under $17.00 at Sam's Club & ready to tackle this 600+ page book.  Get sucked back into the world of the Cullens.

I also needed to pick up some batteries for my flash for my camera & I was so super excited to see these sanitizing wipes.  I like they say they're safe for the skin so you can use them to wipe off your hands and surfaces. These babies were being surrounded by people grabbing & throwing in their cart.  Anything sanitizing is like GOLD BABY - GOLD

Here's the main reason I wanted to go .... MY COFFEE.  The last 2 times we've  been to Sam's Club, they've been out of this kind of coffee & its my favorite.  I had to get another box & it was disgusting. Yes, I drank all 100 cups of it, but I wasn't happy about it.  I may have hugged this coffee when I put it in my basket.

Do you know Sam's Club was totally out of toilet paper & paper towel. Are we doing this again?  Really?

The Hubs had to go into Home Depot & I told him to take his time... I had a new book to read.  He took me VERY seriously because he was in there for over 30 minutes.  He actually ran into someone he knew & got to talking, but I didnt mind one bit. I was able to knock out the first chapter of the book (I'm not a slow reader - the chapters are LONG in this book)

We were both starving & I cant help it y'all... I dont know how you all eat inside of places. We cant make ourselves do it.  We have not ate in a restaurant now for 7 months!!! CRAZYYYYY.  But we knew that Culvers had a good outside area to eat at & we found out they have a new veggie burger & I wanted to give it a try.

I wasn't overly impressed. I actually like the other veggie burger they  used to carry.  But I'll never turn my nose to a veggie burger. Glad there are options are places to eat out.

We left there & decided to make a tirp to WalMart. We never go to Walmart ... but I was excited because I ended up finding some good planner stickers!

Those Teacher sticker books... CLEARANCE FOR $5.00!!!!!!!! I had to get two. & yes, I know I'm not a teacher, but this sticker  book has a LOT of things I will still use in it. Pay Bill stickers, cute little stickers with books & pens & of course those plants you see. Love it!  For $5.00.... how can I not?

Those floral stickers - I've purchased before too & love them. They make a planner page instantly beautiful.

I also bought this sweatshirt....

Perfect for Fall. It's so lightweight too. Its actually a "Loungewear" top but I have bought these before & they work just find wearing as a sweatshirt with jeans.  They're so comfy & I always enjoy the graphics on them.

I couldnt pass up getting some more Wick Wax Melts too. These are my FAVORITEEEEEEE!!! They smell SO GOOD!!!! I will always pick this brand to make my home smell so delicious.

The big winner of the day though was this little girl......

We found this Serta Matress dog bed at Sam's Club for under $40.00.... I would say she approves.  She needs the comfy beds for her 15 year old bones.

... AND after all that walking, I came home to soak my ankle in some Epson salt because of course, I pushed it.  OH YEAH -I also TRIPPED over a concrete parking barrier while we were out.  Yep.  Tripped on it with my bad ankle. I just sat in the car & cried.  Ricky said he's going to get me a helmet & some padding for me.  We're convinced I'm on a klutz roll.  Has someone put a hex on me for Halloween?  WELL STOP IT PLEASE.

What did you do for Saturday?

Do any shopping lately?

Do you have a dozen dog beds around your home? Just me?

Awareness & Humbleness

I was all set to talk about tofu turkey lunch meat today, which I was really kinda excited to talk about.. & then breaking news comes on the TV while I'm sweeping my kitchen floor ....

I've sat here watching the TV as the President of the United States gets carried away in a Choppa (said in my best Arnold voice) to get monitored for his diagnosis of Covid.

I know there's so many thoughts by so many .... many of well wishes & prayers for our President... many others that pointing towards karma.

I just hope in the end, no one gets fatally sick... that there's full recovery - because we've already lost WAY TOO MANY people to Covid.
One is too many.
Over 200,000 in our country is disgusting.

I hope that AWARENESS comes out of this that COVID has NOT GONE AWAY & people are still suffering, getting sick.... dying from a pandemic that is still spreading rapidly in our country.

Personally, The Hubs & I know of multiple people that have been diagnosed as Covid positive just last week.  It's still going ... still spreading.

My biggest fear in this - because I'm sure The President will receive beyond the greatest health care & will be just fine...but I feel like if he was knocking on deaths door with Covid (which I hope not), I think he'll come out of this & say, "It was nothing.  No problem. Anyone can battle this".

I really hope & pray COVID isn't belittled.

I hope to see some humbleness.

I really hope to see the leader of our country acknowledge this is a virus that is something to be addressed, it is serious & can be dangerous & it is a national (& global) issue & acknowledge it's not going to "just disappear".  I really hope there is sympathy to relate to so many that have lost loved ones to this.

Just when you think 2020, the election, & the political climate can't get any crazier.....

Oh... & by the way, my tofu turkey lunch meat is pretty awesome.

I didnt even get birthday cake!

Whoo hooo! My momma's birthday was yesterday.  I'm always up for any reason to get a cake.  I mean, I usually can use excuses like, "It's Wednesday"... but this time, a REAL reason. Birthday celebrations.

When I logged off of work, I headed over to mom's & we headed down to Target.  Because what else is better than walking around Target to just roam?  Especially on a week day when it's not that busy.  I've  learned that going to the store or grocery really pays off to go on a weird Mon - Thursday evening.

You cant tell in that pic above... but mom's smiling.

2 things we learned wearing masks in Target. 1.) When I say, SMILE for a birthday picture, it matters not.  I mean, I should take all my Top Model training & tell her to SMIZE instead. 2.) Dont bother with the candle aisle.  I was wanting some good Fall scented candles, but we tried smelling candles through our masks just for the fun of it .... these masks must be pretty good because we could smell nothing.  Then I figured I wasn't going to spend good money that I cant smell through a piece of fabric.

We did go through the Halloween stuff because PRIORITIES. I love me some Halloween.  When I saw this little riding squirrel to put on a dog for a costume, I so badly wanted to get it. But my big Aussies - no way would this fit.  I know my dad would have gotten the BIGGEST kick out this over anyone!

We ended up not being able to roam as much as we wanted because my ankle... its still not doing the best.  I keep thinking I'm healing faster than I really am & once I stand on my ankle or move for too long, my ankle gets the last laugh.  I'm starting to get kinda concerned that there is some ligament or tendon issues.  Of course, I am someone who jumps to the worst possible conclusion & The Hubs tells me I'm just fine & time will heal all wounds.

For the record, I am typically the glass half full on every other thing in life & he's the glass is nearly empty.... but when it comes to health issues, we totally flip.  We complete each other... or keep each other sane - one in the same.

I cant fit my foot in a regular pair of shoes yet with this ankle

We checked out but made sure to have a little treat to have in the car while we ordered some take out for a birthday dinner.

& of course, if ya didnt know... it was TRIPLE STAR DAY at Starbucks!!! which is like a siren singing a song luring me into the middle of the ocean.  Had to go get an iced coffee for the morning to start off my Friday the right way!

We headed up to pick up some Tumbleweed & got there fairly early so sat in the parking lot & chatted up & enjoyed the sunset. It was absolutely a beautiful fall day. I am loving the seasons this year - we have gotten a taste of each of them.  Keep it up fall!!!

Mom & I got back to her house & chowed down...so delicious... & by the time we finished eating, I was so stuffed that I couldnt even look at the birthday cake I had picked  up for mom. I must have really meant that fully (pun intended) because I didnt take a picture of mom's cake!!!!  That's bad.  But I'm sure if you know my mom - you know I had her a blue cake.  I should just insert any picture of her cakes over the past 20 years.

Driving home from my mom's - something came to mind about her birthday.  She is now the age my dad was when he passed away. Which feels just really strange to me with dad being 3 years older than her. Age & numbers & dates are just so bizarre in how they relate to the ones remaining when someone passes away.

What's even more bizarre.... I realized I am the exact same age my mom was when I got married.  Hold up - what? Yes... my mom was my age when I walked down the aisle.

Mom's birthday is tripping me up.....

But we celebrated together & I'm grateful she's here with me on her 73rd birthday....

.. side note... I'm also glad I walked out of Target with these babies.  Because I need to celebrate getting through a day myself.

(Click pic for link to these babies)

When even Professor Snape is the enemy

Hello October!

& Hello Day 1 Blogtober!!!

First of all - thank you ALL for your comments about me trying out a new format for October of just plain blogging. You were just so encouraging & I felt all the good vibes with each word of support & understanding. Y'all are just the best!

Kicking off day 1 though, I gotta start off with a BIG OLE HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY MOMMA!!!!

I love this picture of my mom
... she's in the hospital getting ready to give birth to big old 10.5 oz me

Yep, today is her day.  Excited to have some birthday cake with her later today & some dinner - totally take out because I aint about to go in a restaurant... still... & its just gonna be too chilly to sit outside to eat. To think that this time last year, we were in a heat wave & our temps were in the high 90's. YUCK.  I'm sure I was super grumpy this time last year.  But hopefully we'll have some birthday pictures for tomorrow!

DEBATE RECOVERY
What did my Wednesday look like... basically like most of the country. Trying to wrap my head on what I watched the night before with the Presidential debate.

HOLY COW... what a mess.  I dont speak about politics here a lot because I know everyone has the right to pick a side & that's OK (even if you're wrong - KIDDING) But I just dont get the bullying & the aggressiveness. I think you can look strong in your thoughts & take charge of a debate without just being plain rude & basically, disgusting.

I was nearly ready to crawl in a corner by the end of it - but it was like a car crash, I couldn't look away.  At the end of it, I honestly couldn't even go to bed because I felt like I had just watched some horrific scene & my nerves were all fired up.  I had to turn on some YouTube & watch some Planner videos (because that's an incredible calming thing - move over ASMR) & just sort of drift off with hopes I wouldn't have nightmares of Chris Wallace yelling at me.

I did find it pretty funny that in my Bible Study that I'm doing & the workbook for the day (Entrusted by Beth Moore)  - it was all about 2 Tim 2:23-24

Dont have anything to do with foolish & stupid arguments because you know they produce quarrels   And the Lord's servant must NOT be quarrelsome but must be KIND TO EVERYONE, able to teach , not resentful.

ummmm... can I get that on a poster board & stand outside every political debate please?

Heck, can I get that on a poster board & stand outside of every public place in American please?

The kicker for me on debate night.... I reposted this because come on - if you weren't on Twitter on debate night, were you REALLY watching the debate?

Funny - honest - has some truth to it... but it was light hearted & I enjoy some chuckles when I feel like the world is falling apart.

And then someone replies back to me with this tweet....

seriously?

& I'm not here to shame anyone so protecting the innocent by blocking the name...

But SERIOUSLY?

This is the world we live in.
Not only is the country divided, but now, muggles have turned on the wizards. We're all doomed.

Did you survive watch the debate?

Do you enjoy Twitter when watching TV?

More important - WISH MY MOMMA A HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
