Light it up, Monday morning & got my reading mojo back {Thankful Thursday #206}

Image result for thankful thursday knit by god's hand

This week I am Thankful For:

Bible Study on a Monday morning
It was so nice to be able to meet up with some friends to talk about the study we are looking at together - Job.  We got to meet up early, let the kids play downstairs, & didnt even have to worry about make up, or getting out of sweat pants & just get to love on one another.  It made it a perfect day off.

Starbucks app
So there's just 3 of us doing this study together & one of the ladies was driving up & text & said, "I'll be stopping by Starbucks if anyone wants anything" - ding ding ding!!!!  In steps the Starbucks app where my friend told me when she was leaving & I placed my order on my phone, was able to pay for it & all she had to do was pick it up when she picked hers up. HOW AWESOME IS THAT? I love technology... some times....

Day off
I still am so excited I get Martin Luther King Jr. day off now at my job.

Colorectal PA
So obviously, since its discussed every day of my life now - I'm in with the colorectal specialist that I just really am so glad I found. But the Physician's Assistant that works with the doctor is whose been seeing me on all these follow up appointments & she's just incredible. She's always in the room when the doctor sees me too - & was there at my surgery - so she's not stranger.  But she's just the kindest lady.  While I really like my doctor, she's a In-out-fast kinda doctor & the PA? She will literally sit & answer every question you have, make sure you're doing OK - just has a really personal one on one touch. I just really am glad I found this team. Wish I didnt NEED them, but glad I found them.

Hair Day!
The gray was BAAAAAAD! I may have gone through a quarter of that hair spray that's out now for the past week & a half.

... root spray...
Let's add that to the list too! This stuff is amazing! Anyone else with roots showing use it?  It matches my red so well too. I am always terrified they're going to stop making it & want to hoard up on it. Screw you Marie Kondo!

Ease of library
I just love that I can go find a list of books I want online at my library, click that I want to check them out & BAM - the next day, they are sitting on a shelf for me & all I have to do is walk in, grab, check out & go. It's so fast & easy.  I honestly dont understand how more people dont take advantage of libraries.

No mail
Well.... this was a bad thing that turned into a good thing. We didnt have any mail that came in one day & I hated it that I was going to be behind on things, but man, it came at the perfect time because I have another part of my old job that I've taken with me into my new position & it takes about 3-4 hours to do & I wasn't sure when I was going to be able to do it. I just figured late nights & over time or weekend work - but this day opened up just in time for me to get this task done. Perfect timing!

Stamps
I was glad I remembered to get out & get some stamps before the price increased on Sunday.  I will buy a few stamps that I like to keep for a collection & it was funny, I bought an extra Scooby Doo (Ricky LOVES Scooby Doo) & put them with my old stamps (A lot of Disney stamps & Harry Potter & super hero stamps) - I look back & see my stamps that I have that were like 19 cents & 24 cents & 29 cents.... man, those were the days, huh?

Readathon
I honestly have been struggling to read this year. Just havent been in the mood & haven't really had the time like I used to have for reading.  So I was excited for the #24in48 readathon that pushed me to set things aside & grab a book. I ended up getting through 3 books  & I was glad for the reminder that I can get through a book straight in a few hours.

Book Light
I got this off of Amazon a few weeks ago & was so excited to give it a try. I LOVE IT! It has 3 different settings to adjust the strength of the light & it's rechargeable. So no batteries needed.  The charge is supposed to last quite awhile too. I used it for about 2 hours one night & another hour the next & its still bright & strong.  Heres the link (& reminder - nothing ever on my blog is affiliated - just in case someone is interested)

What are you Thankful for this week?

What's up Wednesday

What's Up Wednesday
What We're Eating This Week
I've been all about comfort food in the winter & my latest comfort food has been making some crinkle french fries... pouring vegetarian chili on top of it - with cheese sprinkled on top & avocado on top of that.  It's SO delicious & so yummy on cold nights.
& the hubs likes it too - that's a real plus.

What I'm Reminiscing About
When I could work out without pain... or even worrying about what clothes I would put on to work out. Anything tight makes me miserable.  Sitting on the floor hurts.  Heck, moving hurts.
I remember the good ole days when I would complain & worry about my knees. HA! How lucky was I then?

What I'm Loving
I have been using this new app ... it helps with keeping prayers in order.
I usually have a notebook that I keep track of prayers with - but I've been finding that I'll be reading about prayers for someone on my phone on Facebook or in a blog - or talking to someone - & I dont have my notebook with me & I dont want to forget to add them to my prayer list.

Image result for prayer app

Enter this app...
It keeps track of your prayers - lets your share with others if you wanted to to let others pray with you - but you can keep prayers private too (which is how I use it except for my own personal prayers regarding me) & then there's even a place where you can write description or journal under each prayer & even mark it as ANSWERED.

& it even gives you reminders to pray - & you can set a time you want to sit & pray so you can be mindful of how long you are praying for someone. It's just really cool.

I just downloaded it & loving it so far - I'll let you know how it is working in a month or two!

What We've Been Up To
Still taking care of our old man.
Can you all believe he's 18 AND A HALF now?
He's going to be nearing 19 before we know it! AMAZING!!!
But believe me when I tell you, our life is centered around him right now. LITERALLY ...
our kitchen has his kennel in the middle of it & its seriously like a ring to walk around - & with the other dogs walking around it too - it has made our kitchen REALLLLLY small.
We get Bruno out twice a day & let him walk around for 2 hours in the morning & 2 hours at night - & that's all he wants to walk - he sleeps the rest of the time. Poor boy - but we really have to keep our dedicate our time to him - we have to hand feed him - watch how much water he drinks - have to watch his skin.
The things you do for your baby.

What I'm Dreading
Is  it bad to say "every day"?
Because honestly, I dont know how my pain will be every day.
Some days, its almost unbearable... & I dont know when its going to happen or pop up - so yeah, every day when I start a new day, I go into it with my breath held on making it through till the next.

What I'm Working On
I'm still all about getting rid of clutter. ... & I promise, its not because of Marie Kondo.
Yeah, I've watched her show - but I still dont understand her process really.
I'm just tired of stuff laying around & just ready to toss everything - if I haven't used it in 5 years, I dont want to keep it.
Except my books - books are a different topic.  So is yarn.
I have my limits.

What I'm Excited About
My new job.
I absolutely love it - everything about it!

What I'm Watching / Reading
The After Winter-Break Season (which still is weird to me) of TV is all back on - SO MUCH TO WATCH!  But the one show I try to watch in real time is A Million Little Things - LOVE this show.
Also all about Celebrity Big Brother.

I'm totally rooting for Tom Green

Reading - I'm finally getting around to The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

What I'm Listening To
Right now, I'm totally hooked onto the podcast Journey's of Faith with Paula Farris.
She talks to people about their faith - & she talks to different kinds of faiths - but its just so good. I just love Luke Bryan & the woman from Lady Antebellum now (her episode will just touch your heart like nothing else)

What I'm Wearing
... anything warm!!!!....

What I'm doing this Weekend
My weekends are just a time I can lay down for awhile & help ease my pain.
No sitting.
So I dont have any big plans really... definitely going to church, but other than that?
I see a lot of cozing up with my dogs, reading, knitting, Bible study, & lots of coffee.
#purebliss

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month
I guess I'm just looking forward to being one step closer to Spring

What's your favorite family Valentine's Tradition?
My daddy has always gotten me something for Valentine's Day as far back as I can remember.... candy, a card, a stuffed animal. Just something.... so it'll feel a little funny this year.
But Ricky is always good at spoiling me for Valentine's Day & he usually has me some flowers (which I HATE flowers on V-day with 4x the price - ugh!) & he will always pick up dinner if it falls on a work day so I dont have to worry about cooking.
Our tradition when its on a weekend is to do our Valentine's "dinner" for breakfast. We're all about the early morning dates.

Be sure to link up with Shay to see what everyone else has been doing this month.

Nail Guns, highlighters & Lisa Harper is my new best friend.....{Thankful Thursday #205}

Image result for thankful thursday knit by god's hand

This week I am Thankful For:

Soup Nights
Something about cold winter nights, that just a bowl of soup is comfort for the soul.

Lisa Harper Comment
Why does it feel like the best thing when a celebrity comments on your Instagram pic or likes or retweets something you posted?  I dont know... but I'm pretty sure it means that me & Lisa Harper are now best friends.

Warehouse Sale
I'm kind of obsessed with these highlighters from The Daily Grace.  They dont bleed through the page & are great in color on your bible pages.  So when they had a warehouse sale - I ended up buying another set... & then went back for yet ANOTHER set. Cant have too many pens or markers or highlighters. Never.

Girls Night Out
I was walking through The Home Depot, which is usually by force by the hubs because he wants me to come in & look at something. I typically stay in the car reading my Kindle when he's in there.  But walking through one day, I saw a sign that said "DIH - Do It Herself" with class information on it.  They were going to do a class on how to build a "Menu Board". So I checked with some friends & they were totally up for it.  It was supposed to be made with a white board under it, but we all chose to do it where we can slap on some chalkboard paint & make it a personal chalkboard.    It was super fun to just spend time together.... & play with a nail gun - which I now told Ricky I want one for Valentine's Day - which may have made his entire year to hear me say those words.

Office Lunch
I think our office had some division in it .... a lot caused by gossip & rumors.  But I think a lot of it was cleared up & a new beginning has begun & it was just nice to see everyone go out to lunch together & talk & laugh with one another. It really is like a breath of fresh air has happened.  & it's just so nice to work in a place that doesnt have that sort of tension in it any longer.

Kroger Fuel Points
I mention this one all the time... but when I can fill up a totally empty tank for $30.00 - I'll always be thankful for it.

Sweatpants day
I love days when I never have to get out of my sweatpants & putting on a bra is an option.

HSM represent!
I was so proud when one of our HSM girls got up on the stage in & read some scripture & started off the message with a prayer.  That's never easy, no matter your age - but especially when you're standing in front of a bunch of your high school peers. But she nailed it. My girls are just awesome.

Snow kept shoppers away
It had snowed Sunday morning & a lot of churches had canceled. I had made it to our church & afterwards, I went to Michael's to pick up some chalkboard paint.. & of course, more yarn, because why not?.... & it was so nice because usually everything after church is packed. Super crowded. But this Sunday, the snow must have kept a lot of people home because NO ONE was out. I literally had front row parking & no line in Michael's. I even went to pick up Ricky some lunch & drove straight through the drive thru where there's typically a 10 minute wait.

What are you Thankful for this week?

The weekend that was 3 days

Hello Tuesday, that is really a Monday, which means I'm going to be super busy catching up on mail for two days.

I'll take it though for a day off. Especially a day off when the morning temp was in single digits. No. Just no.

I'm just not a fan of frigid temps. I'm also not a fan of horrible heat & humidity - I'm just that special sort of princess that likes things a perfect 75 degrees. Anything wrong with that? Actually - I'm not that bad. I like anything from 50 to 80 degrees. So see? I'm not THAT picky.  If you live in such an area, let me know where it is. I may have to start placing hints to Ricky that we need to make a big move.

Not only did we have cold this weekend...we had snow.  At least it wasn't as bad as they thought it would be. When we went to bed on Saturday night, they were saying that in our area, we could have 6-8 inches & I was just ready to not even come out of the bed Sunday morning.  Ricky woke me up & said we probably got 2 inches so I went ahead & came out of the blankets. Maybe a little grumpy about getting in the cold, but I did it.  Even made it out to church.  Most of the other churches canceled for the day so it was nice to drive with an empty road.

Saturday, (I'm going backwards here apparently) I was just on a cleaning spree. I dont put it on Marie Kondo because I only got through 3 episodes - I'm just tired of clutter & ready to just throw everything away.

Actually, on Friday (I really am going backwards) I spent 2 hours on just a few drawers in my bedroom & throwing away so much make up & stuff I'll never use - & truthfully, was afraid it's so old, it would be scary to put on my skin.

THROW IT OUT OR DONATE AWAY!!! I was on a mission.

I did finally stop Saturday night to get starting watching YOU on Netflix... & WHOOOOO - that's one crazy show. I had seen the book & hadn't read it yet but I'm totally putting it on hold now at the library because I gotta see the differences.  & gotta see if the ending is the same.

Image result for YOU netflix
Anyone else that watch it totally dislike Beck too? She got on my nerves SO BAD!!!

It was nice having off on Monday though. An extended weekend is always nice... & it was even sweeter because I met up with some friends to discuss a Bible Study that we're doing together - but sort of on our own. A "make it up as we go along" sort of thing.   Luckily, being off on Monday, we just all showed up early & took it easy at my friend's house.  I even warned them that I was coming in sweat pants & lucky if I even got a bra on - to which my friend was texting back at the same time the same thing about a bra.  & the other friend commented that this conversation was why she loved our friendship.

If you cant be yourself in Bible study, where can you be? :)

The rest of my Monday was just the usual... laundry, knitting, doing bills... things I should have done on Sunday but knowing it was a long weekend, put it all off another day. Because I'm good at procrastinating.

So it's a big week ahead with another doctor's appointment with my surgeon... which I'm anxious about. Just a note on that - I'm still in pain. Hooray for surgery that doesnt feel like I even had surgery. #bigsarcasm
May actually feel a little worse.  So I'm really anxious to see what the surgeon has to say.

All in all - I'm just learning that this may be my new life....this pain. This uncomfortable feeling.  What else can you do?  You just PRESS ON.... all you CAN do.

So did you get a long weekend?

Get any snow or frigid temps?

Have you watched or read YOU?

Another Christmas down, seating, & is that you Daddy? {Thankful Thursday #204}

Image result for thankful thursday knit by god's hand

This week I am Thankful for:

Dad & my first check
So there was no one more excited about my new job than my dad. He literally was so thrilled for me to move onto a company that was offered benefits, raises & just valued their employees.  So when I got this promotion, I told Ricky, "I just wish dad was here so I could tell him" - & so my first big day on the job on my own, I open up my first check - & what do I see? The numbers 444... which every time I see, I always say "Hi dad" - its just been our family thing my whole life & dad even left a message saying that if he was gone & we see it somewhere, its just him stopping in to say hello.  I didnt find it just a coincidence that the very first check I opened was this one. I literally laughed & just looked up & said an even bigger "Hi dad". I had to take a picture of it & send to Ricky & tell him to look at my first check & he messaged me right back & said, "Yep, your dad knows"

New area to sit
I kind of didnt think I'd like where I had to move to sit for this new job... but turns out, I really like it. First, I'm no longer by the front door - which I always enjoy because I really did enjoy meeting & greeting people... but it was hard to do work when you're constantly seeing/hearing the door open & close.  Second, I get to watch the sun rise from my new seat - which is just lovely. I'm totally a sunrise person

Bruno's Kennel
After Bruno's latest little mishap on my birthday, we've got him in a new kennel in our kitchen during the day while we're gone. Keeping him good & safe. Almost like a little doggie jail. The bad thing, its literally taking up nearly 45% of our kitchen - but that's OK - we'll all walk around this huge thing if it keeps him safe & sound.

Les Mills on Demand
I'm probably going to do a post on this soon - but right now, I am LOVING this app on my Roku

Sushi lunch
Some of my favorite coworkers & I went out to lunch this past week & tried a new sushi place right next to work that I had never been to before. DELISH! I got an Avocado roll & a veggie roll & I'll totally be back - especially because I found out that on Monday, Tuesdays & Fridays - they are buy one roll, get one for $1.00. OH YEAH - I'll buy extra for lunch the next day. SCORE

1 million views
OK - I get it. Some people get 1 million views in a day on Instagram. & some blogs get that in just a few months. & yes, I've been blogging for nearly 12 years - but I finally hit 1 million views on my blog. To some, that wouldnt be impressive.  For me, it makes me proud to see that people care to read what I write out.  I'm not into this to make a living, or to make a career. I just enjoy sharing my life as I document it solely for myself - & if I can bless someone with my words or thoughts, even better.

Pizza Day
1,578th time I have said this.... I love my job. Friday, when it had turned cold & yucky, our work ended up bringing in salad & pizza for us as a thank you for doing a good job on year end stuff.  Perfect timing. No one wanted to go out in the yucky weather. & who doesnt love free pizza?

Click List not canceled
I typically order my groceries to pick up on Friday after work for the weekend - so did what I usually do - except this weekend, snow was expected. Everyone & their momma was ordering apparently - & I found out they canceled half the orders & shut down the system because everyone was calling to place an order. I'm so glad they got mine done... & they had most of the stuff. I thought for sure they'd just say half of it was out of stock.

Snow wasn't bad
& all that freaking out about the snow, we only got like 2 inches - & it was basically melted in 24 hours. My kind of snow.

Filing done
With my old position still open, there are some things about it that had gotten piled up, so I went into work on Saturday since Ricky had to work - he drove me - & got it all caught up. Whew. That's just a relief. & it was nice to go in with Ricky because when he picked me up, we were able to just go out for lunch together.

Christmas still going
Always enjoy Christmas with our sweet framily & our adorable little Grand-buddies.  We laughed so hard at the things they say - & ate a yummy dinner that was made for us.  One more Christmas still to go.

What are you Thankful for this week?
