Favorite Halloween Project

I love some crafty project & Gingerbread houses are always fun!
& not just for Christmas!!!
They are cheap enough too that you can have some for a Halloween party - or get for the kids/grandkids to do Halloween morning & eat at the end of the night!

Favorite Halloween Sweater

OHHHHH - giving me some preppy Halloween vibes!

Favorite Halloween Baking Pans

A mini cake pan! SO FUN!
Can you imagine pouring WHITE CHOCOLATE over these skulls & give it a real bone look!

Favorite Fall Decoration

**

You get 3 little Wooden signs. They are small enough where I think they would fit on some tiered trays too.  Cute sitting on tables anywhere too.

Favorite Rug

**

This would be great for Fall in the living room.
Just the change of a rug makes a room look so different.
This is so beautiful for all of Fall through Thanksgiving!

Favorite Halloween Dress

**

This is a perfect dress for Halloween
An instant Wednesday Adams dress - or the triplet susters from Sabrina
Throw on a witches hat & some stripped leggings & a cute witch!

Favorite Holiday Mood Setter

**

I always love these candles for the holidays. I always use them for Christmas but they'd be so cool out for Halloween too.  The Hubby hates candles around the house that are lit so this is a great option to have the feel of candles without the danger. So many in this bundle you can group them together or sepreate them in different counts around the house.

Thankful Thursday #330

OK - confession time.... I was totally going to do a post this week & then yesterday was so busy. Like, when I had a moment to stop for a minute, I just wanted to close my eyes & breath...

Plus, I had to make sure to have everything done by 8pm because priorities - Real Housewives of Beverly Hill Reunion going down! Whoo hoo... HAHA How sad is that.  But that's the truth.  I never got to do a post.  But hey, that's life. & I got my little bit of daily Housewives drama in.

I cant believe its going to be dragged out over 4 weeks though... geez.

I get it, not everyone watches the Real Housewives.  For me, if its not a book, its these crazy ladies & their crazy responses that give me escape from the crazy world.

But anyways, here's a quick list

This week I am Thankful for:

Survived Traffic
If you know me well, you know I dont do well with traffic. We are having major construction with the bridge getting me from Kentucky to Indiana daily shut down to one lane.  I try to take other ways home to make it easier even if its longer - I cant do that stop & go motion.  But one day, it got me. I was in traffic for over an hour.  I thought I was going to lose my mind. I have totally convinced myself if I end up in Hell - its just going to be eternity in a traffic jam. When I finally got off the expressway, I pulled into a parking lot & just walked around for a few minutes to breath fresh air.  The nausea is so intense with that stop & go motion for me... MISERABLE.  But I survived. I think that getting out really helped me get a break to get all the way home (I still had another 15 minute drive from there). I really do feel like this was an accomplishment.

ThredUp Goody Box
I only got one blouse out of my box this time around but I always just enjoy clothes being shipped to me so I can try them on in the comfort of home.  Plus, they give you styles I would never try on on my own.  I mean, they sent me some faux leather pants.... I was THIS close to keeping them.  Except 1. they were a little too short & 2. Where in the world am I wearing faux leather pants?

Neighbor Birthday
I was so happy that we found out our neighbor had come home to celebrate her birthday with her family. She turned 85 this week! & she's giving cancer a run for its money with the battle she's putting up! She's been staying at her son's home during her treatments so we've missed seeing her walking every day - YES, she would walk every day. No wonder she's so awesome at 85 years old!  When we got invited to come down & see her, we jumped to it. Glad to give her a hug & let her know we're still praying for her & giving her some encouragement. Plus, we just love that whole family anyways - they are really just the kindness people you could ever want to meet.

Hello Fresh
Well... I'm thankful for it NOW. I just signed up. I get my first box on Monday. I used to do another food delivery service & I really enjoyed the idea of it. I forget the name of the one I used... Blue something... anyways - it was always very complicated recipes though. The prep time took forever & that sort of defeated the purpose.  I keep seeing this has "Quick & Easy" options so I'm giving it a try.  if anything - to get new meal ideas. I'm in such a rut.  Everything just feels like its on repeat.  So I'm excited to give something new a try.

Joining up again with the lovely ladies who are all about spreading joy & smiles - Leslie at Once Upon a time & Happily Ever After & the beautiful Jennifer from Overflowing with Thankfulness ... be sure to stop by & give them a visit!

Tell me something good about your week!!!

Priime Purchase

I didnt get to do this last month so I'll try not to overwhelm by ALL the things I've gotten lately... we'd be here all day.

Joining with the lovely Tanya at The Other Side of the Road

Office Chair

Hubby got this for a new office space he's wanting to make for himself down in the basement.
I'm a tad bit jealous of his new chair!  This would have been nice for the year & a half I worked at home.

Mascara

I kept seeing this Mascara being promoted & talked about & I decided to give it a try.
I am down for the hype  now. I have put this on Subscribe & Delivery because I love it.
It makes my lashes look so long & it stays on all day. I really do like it!

Yellow Kimono

I am all about kimonos & I really wanted a yellow one.
This one is more of an orange yellow than a Belle yellow
But its still pretty. Its longer than I thought it would be too - but still think this is really nice.
They have so many colors & options to chose from.

Pencil Case

I needed a case to hold all the colored pencils I had.
It has so many slots in it, I've also put my brush pens in it.
I really may buy another to put all my Crayola Tip markes.
Its bigger than I thought it would be - but when you have as many pens/pencils - what should I expect?

BareMinerals Make up

I used to use this a long time ago & wanted to try this again instead of putting a lot of foundation on my skin. I forgot how pretty of a glow this gives.

Patio Heater

We got this for the cooler days ahead.
I'm wanting to do some changed on our patio so I can have some comfy ready spots when the days are more snuggly.

Covid Test

I bought this back a few months ago & it was on back order.
I figured it would be nice to have these around because it takes DAYS to get an appointment to get tested in my area & if you have COVID & waiting those days, you could be spreading it...
I finally got this in the mail but then have seen it out in stores & pharmacies & even at Sam's Club.
I've seen that the price has dropped DRASTICALLY on these - which is handy & good to know.
It really easy to use & very similar to ones you get in a clinic if you've ever had a rapid test.
I'll keep an exrta test on standby for quiet a while. They dont expire for a year so hopefully in a year... there wont be a need for these anymore. Please Lord!

I still am curious though - we are seeing rates dropping a lot in our area & I cant help wondering if more people are testing at home & the resulst are reported.  I guess that's the con of these tests.

Bible Study

This is the study they are doing on Lifeway Women & the actual book was cheaper on Amazon than Lifeway - plus, free shipping for Prime.
I'll admit - I havent jumped into it yet because I've been doing She Reads Truth study on Acts... hopefully I'll get this done before the videos expire they offer for free during the study.

I'll stop for now... & reflect how much money I give to Amazon - LOL

What's your latest good buys you've gotten from the blue truck lately?

Show Us Your Books {October 2021}

I mean... come on now... ALL THE BOOKS!!!!

Honestly, I'm done. Put a fork in me. I'm fully baked. My brain cant handle much more of the news, of social media, of the ridiculousness of people... so I've just been changing my address & moving to Literature Land. Let me live in a world of fantasy. I'm good with it.

Anyways - onto the biggest month I've ever had!  At least it was a really good one!

Also - be sure to click over to Steph & Jana - the hosts of Show Us  Your Books... today is their 7th anniversary of this! Think of ALL the books that have been talked about over the years through this link up. Love it! Thanks Steph & Jana for all the book love you share!

The Alice Network
*** / Liked It

Quick Summary:  Set in 1947, an American Socialite is on the hunt for a missing cousin & crosses path with a woman who was a World War I spy in the real-life Alice Network, telling both of their stories from the past & the present.

I'm not usually a history sort of person, but this was interesting to know the Alice Network was a real thing.

I enjoyed the story would go back & forth telling Eve's story from her spy days to the current days with Charlie, who is pregnant & unmarried & trying to find what happened to her cousin Rose.

While some of the names got to be confusing for me, & I would get a little confused at time, in the end, I really enjoyed the history of it all & the idea of girl power - supporting one another, seeking revenge & healing a past.

A big thank you to my friend Nathalie for sending me this book to share!

"Facing a pistol-wielding murderer does tend to put parents further down the list of things to be intimated by"

A Happy Catastrophe
**** / Really Liked It

Quick Summary: When Marnie is wanting to have a baby with her boyfriend Patrick, he isnt thrilled with the idea - when a little girl from Patrick's past, whom he has no idea even exists, is at the door & everything changes.

I found this book at the library & just picked it up because the cover was cute. I got the sense from the first few pages that this was a follow up book - had no idea.  The first chapter did well in getting me up to pace with what happened so I didnt feel like I lost anything -but after falling in love with these characters, I do want to go back  &find the first one (Matchmaking for Beginners) - even though it got lower rating than this one. Interesting.

I think I felt a special connection on this one too because Patrick, he was in a fire trying to save his girlfriend.  The things he would say about his skin, how he felt about the surgeries, how he felt in front of people out in public - it was exactly - EXACTLY - things I've heard Hubby say about his scars.  It was almost uncanny. This author did her research.

I just loved Marnie too - she was so Phoebe from Friends like  I just love her spirit of accepting & loving everything & everyone around her.

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this book... Marnie would say it wasn't by any coincidence.

"Go look at sunsets. Drink a cup of tea. Take a hot bath. And how many times do I have to tell you? Whatever happens - LOVE THAT! Because maybe, just maybe, everything is perfect"

The Lies that Bind
**** / Really Liked It

Quick Summary: Cecily goes into a bar pondering life when she hears someone day "Dont do it - you'll regret it" - she ends up talking with this man & they start a relationship. 9/11 happens & he is missing & she finds his picture being posted by someone else & her reporting skills kick in as she looks deeper into his story.

I ironically finished reading this on 9/10 so reading anything that involved 9/11 was a little crazy.  & I read a lot of reviews that people thought this book was very disrespectful & I could understand that.  But I just tried to put myself in the mindset of it just being a soap opera sort of novel & just went with it.

I enjoyed the characters & enjoyed the dramatic turns. I really liked Grant & learning his story till the end.  & the best character of all, Scottie, Cecily's best friend. I want a best friend like him - hilarious.

I just enjoy Emily Giffin's books - even when they're bad, I still like them. They're good fun, easy, dramatic chick-lit for me.

We may not get do overs in life, but we can always have fresh starts and new beginnings.

The People We Keep
***** / Amazing

Quick Summary:  April has been abandoned by her mother & virtually her father, having to learn to fend for herself. She sets off to get away from her town & start a new life - that involves lies that gets wrapped up in her new life she has started. April meets various people through her journey & comes to find a new family through it all

I dont think I would have picked this book up if it wasn't chosen by the book club I'm in. & man, I am so glad I read it.

I was going to give it 4 stars but thought about it more over 24 hours & I was so invested in this story. It dug into my heart. I literally cried at the end of one part - like real tears, heart broken tears.... & then at the end of another part, I was ready to throw the book I was so mad at April.  So to say I was wrapped up in this story is an understatement.

You see how April has taken the things she's learned from her parents to run away at hard things & its just devastating.

The end of the story really just made me close the book & sit & think about it all. So glad I got to know every character in the story.

“You're the gift that came from two broken people. They were weak, and hurt, and cowardly, and somehow managed to make this miracle girl who is so full of piss and vinegar that she survived it all.”

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue
***** / It Was Amazing

Quick Summary:  France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets.  Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world.  But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore and he remembers her name

I have been wanting to get to this for the longest time & so glad I finally made time for it.

What a crazy concept to be "forgotten" after someone leaves you, or turns around, or rounds a corner.  At first, I was thinking how cool it would be - but its almost like Addie is a ghost.  Such a lonely feeling.

I really enjoyed too how through the years, we see Addie was used a muse for so many artists through the centuries.

I had so many feels when Addie meets a man who does remember her & they learn why & what will ultimately be the fate for them.

I've listened to so many podcasts listening to their thoughts on this too & its so funny how people are so into Luc (the dark spirit that is taking her soul) & how they feel like its the ultimate love triangle.

This is a long book & there's moments that it drug out & felt so long... but in the end, I really enjoyed all of this as a story.  I totally want to see this turned into a movie please... like ASAP.

“What is a person, if not the marks they leave behind?”

Rock Paper Scissors
***** / It was Amazing

Quick Summary: Things have been wrong with Mr and Mrs Wright for a long time. When Adam and Amelia win a weekend away to Scotland, it might be just what their marriage needs. Self-confessed workaholic and screenwriter Adam Wright has lived with face blindness his whole life. He can’t recognize friends or family, or even his own wife.

Every anniversary the couple exchange traditional gifts – paper, cotton, pottery, tin – and each year Adam’s wife writes him a letter that she never lets him read. Until now. They both know this weekend will make or break their marriage, but they didn’t randomly win this trip. One of them is lying, and someone doesn’t want them to live happily ever after.

Ten years of marriage. Ten years of secrets. And an anniversary they will never forget

I literally dont want to give anything away... I just know I was here for every creepy moment of this book.

I cant wait to read more from this author.

"None of us know when we're checking out - life isnt that kind of hotel"

The Love Hypothesis
**** 1/2 / Really Loved It

Quick Summary:  Olive randomly kisses a man behind her to try & convince her friend she's dating someone & when she discovers that man is a top scientist in their department who is known for being a jerk, she's taken back when he agrees to be in a fake dating relationship to help benefit both of their needs.

OK - the basis of this is simple - a fake dating relationship where you know they're going to fall in love with each other.

But this one was done really well, I thought. I loved the characters & the writing. I enjoyed it being with scientists & seeing the battle that women have in the industry.  & honestly, Dr. Adam Carleson - MY WORD - what a gentleman. I honestly was swooning over the little things he would say or do for Olive.

I honestly laughed out loud at parts, I got angry at parts, my heart broke at parts & I totally blushed at parts.  I just enjoyed this book & the rom-com of it all.

The weekend I watched yet another freak out show on Netflix

Here we are again... Monday always creeps back up.

I still cant believe we're making our way through OCTOBER!!!!  Hubby mentioned how many weeks till Thanksgiving & I nearly choked on my iced coffee.

So you think I've been gone awhile in blog land & my life got some how magically wonderful & busy & full of things to do... nope. Same old routine. Same ole life. I'm OK with that.  Here's just a quick look over the weekend....

Friday

I was so excited for the weekend.  I had a four day work week last week & those always tend to be hectic & just as overwhelming. Someone reminded me that you cram in 5 days worth of work of in 4 days & then that makes sense why it feels that way.

I picked up some dinner for us on the way home & just wanted  to sit outside & read & enjoy the nice evening. It was all the fall feels & I didnt want to come inside at all.

Ozzie didnt want me to read ... he wanted to play the beautiful evening away.

Saturday,

I finally slept in! I have been getting up so early even on my days off & I actually woke up at 5:00am & was like NO - I am laying here & relaxing & ended up going back to sleep. Tell me how weird it felt to wake up at 8am. ... I change that - not weird at all. It was so refreshing.

I made a hot cup of coffee & enjoyed the beautiful cool morning watching the sun creep up....

& Harvey got some one on one time.  We try to take them out one at a time to get some individual time of playing so they dont have to battle for the frisbee against the other dogs. They love it so much when we do that.

Hubby was out of the iced coffee he likes, so we ended up getting out early & going to get some breakfast (yep, still eating in the car - still not gone in a restaurant) & then we did a early Target run. I still love going to stores early before they get busy.  I will say, it was more crowded than I expected for 10am.  Is it already Holiday season shopping time?

Hubby of course had to run to Home Depot because of course he does. Every time we're down that way, he needs to run in there.  I went prepared though & got a Starbucks before so at least my wait in the car was a little more enjoyable.   I need a Hobby Lobby near this same area so I can run in there while Hubby is in his store.

I got home & finished up my book... which was such a disappointment. SUCH a disappointment.

I ended up finishing up Midnight Mass ... which one word comes to mind. DISTURBING. So much disturbment happening.  It always freaks me out when someone can take scripture & use it for such twisted stories.  I mean, its really smart. Someone knows their Bible to be able to do that - but it always leaves me with an icky feeling.

Between that & The Squid Game, which I finished last week - I really need to stick to some light binging in my future to give my nerves a break.

Speaking of which... anyone else watch Squid Games yet...we need to chat. So many thoughts!

Sunday

No sleeping in again... but that's OK.

I finally opened up my package that came on Friday - it was my Thred Up Goody Box.

If you havent heard - Thred Up is like a consignment store - but some of the items are brand new with tags still on them. I have bought some items over the months for some great deals. You can chose if you want brand new or if you dont mind gently used.  I have gotten all things with tags still on them but I really dont mind gently used. I'm big in the environment & saving where I can. There's so much waste in clothing.

This isn't a sales pitch - just sharing what I've been using.  I've gotten a lot of Lula Roe with tags still on it for under $10.00.  I know LuLaRich has probably rubbed people off the clothes - but I really like some of the items.  It's pricey though so I really like getting brand new Lula roe for more than half off.

I also got this camo thermal shirt from Nordstrom Rack - & it ended up costing me $7.99

Anyways - they did offer something called Goody Box where it's like Stitch Fix -they send you 10 items & it only costs you $10.00 a month & you see what you want & return what you dont.

Sad thing... they're stopping it - this is the last month of it - DANG IT.

I had fun trying on all the clothes this month & sad to see it go.  But I'm still looking forward to keeping my eye out for some good deals.

I ended up spending most of the day outside reading a new book - Erin Hilderbrand's latest... which is so much better than that last one I just finished.

We took the dogs for a walk in the back property & its so beautiful watching the leaves already changing.  Fall is just the best.

The rest of the evening, I went over & took care of the horses & took mom to the store & then came home to have dinner with Hubby & get my butt beat in a game of rummy. I cant never  win against him in that. I honestly thought this was my night & lo & behold - the last hand we played did me in & LOSER once again. One day... ONE DAY... I will win!

So how was your weekend?

Did you watch Squid Games or Midnight Mass yet?

Are your leaves changing?

Have you ever tried Thred Up?
