3 men & a little lady... no, not the movie!

No fragmenting today...

I'm running late to work because I had to take my boy to the vet this morning to be dropped off...

Here we are on the way..

He knows something is up...

The lady who talked to me assured me he would be OK... that neutering for boy dogs is simple, easy, fast & he will be fine.  She also couldn't get over how sweet & loving he is!  I know.. he's pretty awesome... when he's not destroying things.

I still get anxious...

This will be me all day long

So I'll be waiting by the phone until they call me.  Which I told them they need to, or myself or Ricky will be bugging the HECK out of them. 

Yes, I'm THAT dog mom...

& then my other boy... you know, the one I'm married too... send him some well wishes today too.

He's going for an MRI today on his knee.  If you don't remember, he hurt it at work on a missing step 2 weeks ago.  Its still swollen - still causing him horrible pain.  I hate it so badly for him.  They'll be letting him know soon if he needs surgery.  That's looking like a possibility because the doctor thinks its a torn cartilage..... OUCH....

& then one more boy you can all pray for... my 3rd grandbaby... that is still in tact in Julie's belly... but he's being just like his brothers & is probably going to make an early appearance.  Julie is 32 weeks.  She had both boys at 34 weeks & William is already wiggling around & Julie is 4cm dilated!!!  She is in the hospital & spent a day of torture getting a magnesium drip.

Let's let William stay right here... at least for 2 more weeks... if not longer

Just talking to her about it & what it felt like, I was having hot flashes & felt claustrophobic.  UGH

So yes, I'm asking for prayers for my boys... but Julie needs to be added ... so I guess that makes 3 boys & a lady :)

Permissible... but not beneficial

Time to do some blog hopping with some other awesome ladies

We are kicking it off this week.  Reading Chapter 1 & 2 of "Made to Crave" & I'm so ready for this book. 

So far, in the first two chapters, its like I could have wrote this book myself... except for one thing.  I don't have the answers. I could just write the parts on the struggle with food & the cravings & hold it can have.

BUT I'm learning...

I love that Lysa told us that when cravings hit & we want to jump back in the kitchen & check out what's in the cabinet, we need to pray.

I usually don't pray about IF I'm going to eat... only WHEN I eat... & then usually AFTER I eat when I'm miserable full or mad that I just ate what I did.

But a new concept - pray before you even go looking for that food...

& one of the verses that was mentioned was in 1 Corinthians 10:23

 

Just those first 8 words...

 

EVERYTHING is permissible... but not everything is BENEFICIAL

The NIV says:  "I have the right to do anything," you say - but not everything is beneficial"

Good News:  We are allowed to do anything, so they say.  That is true, but not everything is good.

CEV:  Some of you can say, "We can do whatever we want to!" But I tell you that not everything may be good or helpful.

We get the idea... we can do whatever we want in life.  Cool. 

I think every teenager is going to write the first part of that verse down & say, SEE MOM!  Its IN the Bible!!!

But wait!!  There's a thing called "consequences"
... OUCH...
do we even think of that when we are doing "whatever" we are allowed... "whatever" we want..

Simple things can turn into a big mess

Drinking is permissible... but when you turn into an alcoholic, is that beneficial?
Buying things is permissible... but when you are neck deep in bills, is that beneficial?
Eating whatever you want is permissible... but when obesity kicks in & health problems happens, is that beneficial?

You can really do that with anything.  Watching TV?  Lifting weights?  Sleeping?  Cleaning?

Everything... EVERYTHING has a line that can be crossed.  Too much of ANYTHING can be harmful...

It is a fact too many carrots can turn your skin orange... see?  Even CARROTS has a point where its not beneficial.
(& all the kids just said, "Amen")

What it all comes back to - which really is eye opening to me - is Free Will...

That funny little thing God gives us in life, in every decision we have.

We are free to make every decision ... even including what we eat.

But like most decisions I know I make in my life, sadly, I don't give a lot of thought to it...

And as I said earlier - I'm learning...

& now, I have this verse around me.  Getting it stuck in my brain.  & when I think what I want to snack on, or what I want to eat for dessert after dinner, I think - is it beneficial?

I'm telling you - just that question alone can be the next fitness craze...

1. It was decided on Sunday the Denver Broncos will meet the Seattle Seahawks in this year's Superbowl.  So, when was the last time you bowled?  Not where you thought this question was going is it? Do you like to bowl? Are you any good?

I was excellent... at nearly breaking the score of 100!  If I made a score over 100, I felt like the King Pin Champion!!!

I can't bowl anymore with my bicep tendonitis.  If I knew how to bowl left handed instead, I could do it... but I suspect I would throw the ball in someone else's lane.


2. Should sports stars be role models?

Why not.... there are a LOT worse role models out there.

In my world, every sport star that was on Dancing with the Stars should DEFINITELY be a role model! :)  Shawn Johnson... Kristi Yamaguchi... Jerry Rice... Emmett Smith!

Shawn Johnson has taught me this dance move... role model material right here folks!

Well... maybe all the sport stars from DWTS...

3. January is National Oatmeal month...are you a fan?  How do you like your oats?

I do like them... but I'm picky.  Being weird about ingredients, I don't like the ones with tons of nasty stuff in it.  Just give me plain oats.  Panaera makes EXCELLENT steel cut oatmeal with strawberries or apples. 

Ricky also makes excellent oatmeal...

But since I like the 'real stuff' it takes so long to make. Its usually a weekend only thing. 

On the week days?  This is how I feel...

4. What is one book on your reading list for 2014?

I posted recently a list of books to read before the movies come out.  I uploaded like half of them.  The one I'm starting on today?

I saw Ben Affleck is in the movie... so I'll have to see it.
I heard so much about it anyways.

So yeah, its been out for how long now?  & its on my 2014 list?  So I'm a little behind.

2.  Pleated jeans... with high waists... How were these considered cool?  They were though.  I have evidence of wearing these as well.

I'm a nervous wreck about it too.

I hear for boys, its so much easier. I know for my girls, it was awful - their bellies cut open & the stitches. 

But I hate I'm the one who has to drop him off & leave him...

I'll be edgy & nervous Friday... lock up all the chocolate.

I'm going to throw up... a snowball...

This was my morning...

I sat in traffic for 1 hour, 40 minutes to get to work...

Stop... go... stop.... go....

We are having "thunder snow" - yes, it's a real thing... & winds blowing at extreme white out conditions.

I didn't care.  I had my windows down with my head hanging out of it trying to get fresh air so I wouldn't throw up on myself.

Not to mention feeling claustrophobic & having a panic attack of being stuck...

I left my house at 6:25am... watched the sky change from dark to light

Needless to say, my day isn't starting off the greatest...

can only imagine what my drive home will be like...

My only concern?  Is my hair salon open... I have an appointment on my way home to get my hair touched up.  They had to move my appointment one week past its normal 6 week mark anyways.  My roots & eye brows are in desperate need of attention.

Priorities... I have them.

If they're closed today?  Don't even talk to me... I'm going to be one-winter-hating-the-world-person-with-ugly-hair ...

Anyone else ready for more snow?  NOOOO!!!!! 

But yes, its heading here tomorrow morning (Why is it always during rush hour?) ... but let's worry about that tomorrow.  Time to look back on the weekend.


* Did a grocery trip... proud of myself that my grocery cart is basically full & I'm done shopping when I leave the produce area & the health food area.

* Snow was coming down ... & STICKING... so Ricky told me to hurry up & get out of there.  I had to stop at the Starbucks in the store.  BIG mistake. I'm not good at pushing the basket & holding a drink in my hand... not to mention it was slippery so I'm moving slowly & the parking lot is FULL of pot holes, of which I hit every one.  Every time I'd hit the pot hole, my cup would explode like a volcano.  It was HOT too... luckily, it was 19 degrees outside & windy so it cooled it down quick.

* I tried the Chocolate Chai Tea... blah... I've had 2 bad trials at Starbucks lately

* Someone was snuggly & grateful it was the weekend...

I'm talking about Harvey... though Ricky was happy it was Friday too

* We spent all of Friday night trying to find out about the SD Card in the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 ... which we finally found out Sunday after CALLING Samsung that you can't transfer anything on it.  That's just stupid.

* I watched "Pretty in Pink"... always loved that movie.  My views have changed on it since I'm an adult watching it.  I may do a post on it tomorrow.

* Watching "Sixteen Candles" as an adult still doesn't change my love of Jake Ryan though.

That part gets me every.stinking.time!!!

* Ventured into the cold to get to the post office for a package I had to sign for.  Yes, I had to sign for elk antlers.  OH MY GOSH.. This is the MEDIUM size.  It scared me because the box was so big, I thought the whole Elk head was in the box.  My dogs could care less about these, so Ricky had to end up cutting them in half & now, they are awesome

This is not the first time Ricky said to me, "You look like the devil"

* Speaking of dog fun... Harvey destroyed the "Everlasting Treat ball" in 15 minutes

* My back was killing me, but I still did my training for my half marathon.  Luckily, the training only called for 2 miles.

* Caught some ice skating.  I need to get familiar with the skaters before the Olympics.

* Stayed in & made supper... actually was glad to do it & not get out

* I made it through 3 more episodes of Breaking Bad... now halfway through Season 4... getting closer to the final season!!!

* I love our youth ministry... you have every kind of kid in the room with every kind  of personality... & they are just all so awesome together

* Ricky & I went out to lunch... & our waitress brought us our bill & we found out it was paid for... WHAT?  Yep, she said someone paid for it & wouldn't tell us who.  Our reaction should have been taped.  Ricky instantly jumped up from the booth & was looking around saying, "Who is it?  Where's Ryan?" (He & Ryan have a 'thing' about paying for each other)... the waitress was like "calm down"... I just sat in the booth & teared up.  I'm a sap for kindness.  We think we know who did it ... & its someone totally random & unexpected - which makes it even more special & full of kindness.
Yep... we're going to Pay it forward.

* Yes, I watched The Bachelor Love Stories ... & got teary eyed with Ryan & Trista

So this was my drive into work this morning...

 

 

It was horrible.

Snow - white outs where you couldn't see (in that picture above - that is a ramp over an express way - you can't even see the ramp) - it was horrible.

 

Going home, temps are supposed to drop to 19 degrees with more snow, which will be ice.

 

I just want this day over with & me home in my fuzzy socks

So dog-mom's have told me about the wonders of deer antlers or elk antlers

 

I will say Harvey is sort digging them

... well not DIGGING them literally...

but enjoying them

 

For like 5 minutes, until something else grabs his attention

but all the other dogs want them now too so I've ordered 2 more

 

One good thing I've read though - this company gets them when the deer shed them.  No deer were harmed for the happiness of my dogs
