I watched the most AMAZING documentary yesterday....
something that showed the strength of one man - to make a difference for others...
The name of this documentary is called FEAT: 63 Marathons in 63 days...
FEAT stands for FIGHTING to ELIMINATE A.T.....
AT is something I never even heard of before. Ataxia-Telangiectasia is a lethal genetic disease that attacks children. It causes progressive loss of motor skills and predisposes them to cancer and immune system problems. Kids appear healthy at birth. The first symptoms of the disease include poor balance and slurred speech. Most A-T kids are in wheelchairs by age ten and often do not survive their teens. There is no cure and no life prolonging treatment. The disease is estimated to occur 1 in 40-thousand births. Researchers know of roughly 500 cases in the United States, but the numbers indicate there are several thousand more- likely misdiagnosed.
So this man, Tim Borland decided to draw attention to this disease...by running one full marathon EVERY DAY for 63 days....
He would run in floods, pouring rains, scortching heat... determination doesnt even describe this man...
Some of the things he would say just knocked my socks off:
"At the end of each day, I get a break... these kids dont get a break... that's why I'm doing this"
"They're (the kids) are the ones who run the race every day...."
On finding a cure, he said:
"One person will be touched by what I'm doing. One person can make a difference"
This documentary also follows some of the children who are dealing with AT ... you will be so touched...
If you get a chance, check this out... you'll be ready to go out into the world to do SOMETHING for SOMEONE!!!! Just look at this... be prepared to awed....
Thanks for a good cry this morning and the push to do something great today!
