Before I woke up Sunday with a fever & a head cold, I enjoyed my Saturday out at the State Fair with my husband... here are some of the happenings of the trip...
See - it really did exist! A Donut Burger. I read it was about 1200 calories for this. And there was a line to this place! Between the calorie count & the $8.50 a pop, we just kept walking...

This booth at the fair made me so angry... it had the sign "Don't believe in God? You're not alone" ... these busts were of famous atheists & they had information out for people who didnt believe in God. Oh man - I was taking pictures & saying, LOUDLY, "What is this about?" ... Ricky was getting embarassed & was pulling me away. I was ready to start kicking & screaming... I really wanted to see what the Wizard of Oz sign was about ... why that was in this booth... anyone know why?

Then I got to venture to the inside of a colon! I told Ricky - you gotta take a picture of me going into this colon. He just said, "you're weird" ... we walk inside of it & they had things on the side of the colon with signs describing what it would be. People were taking pictures everywhere inside. One couple standing next to a polyp said "This is going to be my new Facebook picture"... Ricky looked at me & said, "I guess everyone is weird" ... He's just jealous he didnt get his picture taken with the monster colon!

Knitted socks! The arts/crafts section of the fair is my fav every year. I sniff out the knitting stuff.. Here was the collection of knitted socks that people entered. Every year when I see the entries, I always think, I need to put in some of my stuff... but never do... I want a blue ribbon...

Speaking of blue ribbons, I had to take this for you Julie! It won first place! .... Julie, our daughter, knit one JUST like it! I think the yarn is even very similar in color! I have yarn to make the same project & Julie keeps on me to try enterlac... & this has totally got me excited about it now... maybe THAT will be my blue ribbon winner next year... Julie, you need to enter yours in the Texas State Fair!!!!

They had a whole area - that was HUGE - set up with nothing but balloons set up to look like it was under the ocean. It was truly beautiful & amazing to look at!!!! See the turtle & the Shark? The darker blue balloons are actually a HUGE octopus that covered the whole thing.....

I fell in love with the pigs at the fair this year! There was one with babies all over it... the piglets were adorable... this was the momma taking a break. Doesnt it look like she's smiling? I petted her & wanted to bring her home with me...
Later, Ricky was looking for something to each & he said, how about a Pork Tenderloin sandwich... I pulled out my camera & showed him this picture... He ended up splitting bread sticks with me... good husband!
It was a great fair... glad I went - wondered if I picked up my cold from germs there... but now I have a knitting goal... & now, no pork will be allowed in my house....
Love the balloon section but Ricky was naughty!
ReplyDeleteI actually don't mind the fair so much, but I have to be in the mood to go. Currently, our state fair is happening and they call it the "Great Minnesota Get Together". It's usually really hot & LOTS of people.
ReplyDeleteBut I can guarnatee you that we do NOT have a colon that you can walk through. :)
Dude, I have to go home and see if someone stole my enterlac shawl and entered it in that contest. I want my prize money! That looks identical to mine. They probably used the same pattern, which calls for the Noro yarn, which that is. Mine is a different colorway, I think, but it is dang close.
ReplyDeleteWhat a FUN time ~ I love the ocean of balloons. I don't think I could have taken my kids through that though because there is a 1 in 4 chance someone would have touched a balloon. Looks like a very fun event!
ReplyDeleteRicky is my kind of guy not to get that pig. I am a huge fan of pigs and do not eat them. What a fun day at the fair. We did not make our fair this year. Maybe next year.. Have a great day..
ReplyDeleteI only go to the fair for the food!
ReplyDeleteAWESOME PHOTOS!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletemy honey think im weird when i say WAIT! I need a shot for my blog...LOL you are not alone!!!
um atheist booth...way LAME, I woulda been all up in it making a scene about every lie that was in there!
it is always good to have craft goals to keep you motivated. Keep your eye on the prize...
ReplyDeleteI can't believe Ricky passed on the colon pic!!!
and that snoozing piggy is darn cute :)
Wow! Looks like so much fun. We did the fair on Monday afternoon but had our 4-month old with so I didn't get to take as many pictures as I had hoped to take. I should have listened to my husband and gotten a sitter this year!
ReplyDeleteI would have been furious about that 'atheist' booth too. Just what we need, to have them forming some type of support group...ugh!
Have a blessed day Rebecca!
Hahahaha I so would have went into that colon with you. How cool would it be to have our pic taken together in the inside of a colon (okay not a real one, but you know =) and our husbands standing there shaking their heads calling us weird. Bliss =)
ReplyDeleteI LOVED the balloon thing!!! Ricky cracks me up!!
And the atheist booth makes me mad. MAD I TELL YA!!!
And the knitting just makes me happy. You would so win a blue ribbon ~~ you so should do it really!!!
Love you friend, I so hope you are feeling better ~~ Dawn
Aww...feel better soon, Rebecca! Please tell me that you had some cotton candy or a funnel cake at the fair! :) That's last picture takes the cake!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun day at the fair!!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a fair like that! :) It is fun to walk around, I like looking at crafts too, and have some fair food, but I'm with you a donut burger?! that is craziness! :)
