A knee wax, a clean windshield & when your husband thinks all your teeth are falling out.... {Thankful Thursday #119}

Image result for thankful thursday knit by god's hand
This week I am Thankful For:
{The numbers go with my One Thousand Gifts Journal - just ignore}

237 / Christian radio station.
When we first moved our office to a new location, I couldnt get hardly any radio stations. Only one. & for some reason, I can get all the radio stations in again.  Dont know if its because they have been building more buildings around here & for some reason, can get better signals? I dont know how that works. I just know I'm glad to have my Christian radio station back at work.

240 / Safe at home.
I always get nervous when my family travels & when my brother & his family was traveling home from Florida, I was anxious for them for a 12 hour car ride.  But everyone made it home safe & sound... & their doggie was happy to see his family back too.

242 / Survived the 10 mile race.
I'm still amazed I finished my race from Saturday. It's kind of all a blur ... I think my mind is trying to block it out of my memory.  But I have a medal to prove I did it.

243 / KT Tape.
I tell you what - this bunch I got this last time has been the BOMB DIGGITY. It is holding my knees so tight & its not peeling off. I dont know if its because I'm not sweating so bad like I do when its hot & humid... or if its just a good set of tape with good adhesive.  I wore it for my race & its survived a few showers & I finally had to pull it off because I was afraid my skin was going to get irritated. It was like giving my knees a wax job.

244 / Sweet letter.
One of my MSM girls gave me the sweetest thank you card she hand wrote for taking her to see Beauty & the Beast - HOW PRECIOUS IS THAT?  Her momma is raising her right.  Hand written thank you cards are a lost art, arent they?  & I loved she even did a little bit of hand lettering on the front with my name.

246 / Clean car window.
OK - yes, I'm going to say it once again - I love my church.  I walked out to my car on Sunday after service & see a card on my windshield.  Didn't know what it was but read it quick & then saw my window was indeed cleaned up.  I forgot what a clean car window looked like. I could have loved to have looked out seeing all these little kids cleaning these car windows.

249 / WON STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN CONTEST!!!!!
Yep - SCC was in last week's posts too when he "liked" one of my pictures.  All week long, he's been promoting his new book & having a daily contest.  Well, I was about giddy when my BFF Nathalie text me & said, YOU WON! I didn't have a clue what she was talking about ... & then it hit me what I've been commenting on all week. STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN!! YAHOOO!!!!!
I won an autographed book (so I'll have to share my original book I've already read) & a coffee mug & some of his favorite coffee from Paducah, Kentucky.... Kentucky girl appreciates that!  It might as well be a million bucks to me.  Nathalie even told me - "You know you're going to get a book that he's held in his hands, right?".... FANGIRLING!!!!! Totally 100% fangirling!!!!  I'm hoping every week has a SCC surprise in it now ;)

Yeahhhh - they misspelled my name.
Thank God a rebeccahjonits didnt exist

.... SIDE NOTE/ FUNNY STORY....
When I saw I won, I started running around the house & screaming... I'm subtle.... Ricky came running up the stairs screaming "OH NOOOOO - NOT AGAIN".... then he saw I was smiling & screaming with laughter - not tears.  He was so mad at me because it scared him. He said, "I just knew you lost another tooth"... He was legit mad. Like he wouldn't even talk to me for an hour because he said his heart was pounding so hard thinking he had to deal with a toothless crying wife.  To be fair - that is always something that is a possibility in our house.

251 / Barefoot time.
I love nothing more than going barefoot in the spring/summer/fall... the feel of cool grass on my feet (before I break out in itchy hives from grass #allergic) but I still love it ... get behind me winter!!!

254 / New Running Shoes
It was time. My old running shoes have quarter size holes in the toes - the bottom is slick - they've been through 2 half marathons & almost to another one (in 24 days!! - eek!) & Ricky bought me a new pair of running shoes at Christmas. I was holding off using them until I needed them. I needed some running inspiration this week, so broke those babies out.  Love them!! Now to break them in for the next 24 days.

So tell me something good that happened in your week

Time for some more AMAZONING!!!!

I've been an Amazon-ing fool lately! YAHOO!
My mail man LOVESSSS me.

Here's some goodies I've gotten lately

(nothing here is for compensation or selling anything
- just for the fun of seeing what's out in Amazon World!
Just click on the title & it will take you to Amazon's site for that product)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01K1P98GK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

When the flu was going around our office, a coworker told me about this - its kills the norovirus in 30 seconds!! It's no wonder that I dont have this stuff strapped on my belt like a gunslinger.
Actually, I have a bottle sitting on my desk at work & 2 bottles in arms reach at home at all times.

This started because I was clicking a pen in Bible Study & driving a friend totally crazy. I realized how much I am always needing to use my hands. I cant just sit still. Its why I knit or crochet when I'm watching TV - I just dont sit & watch TV.  So I heard about this & thought I'd give it a try - I mean, it was only $3.95!!!!  I love this little gadget. I keep it in my purse & am constantly playing with it, for no reason but just because.

Promises of Joy: Ad Adult Coloring Book

We are working on a book by this same author in our Bible Study Group - also on JOY - so when I saw this, I wanted to get it for leading up to the Easter Season.
I have to say, I'm super impressed with this coloring book.
It has a place behind ever picture for notes/reflection on the verse you just worked on.
& every page is centered around a scripture verse.  I will be getting more of her coloring books now just for study purposes mixed with fun.

AmazonBasics 2-Piece Nonstick Fry Pan Set

I had a fry pan that I used for eggs or grilled cheese & everything was sticking to it - finally one morning, I literally just tossed it from the oven to the garbage & went on here to get something that would just get me by.  I was actually kind of impressed about these babies. One is bigger & one is smaller, though the picture makes it look like the same size. They heat really well & clean up really nice in the dishwasher. & for $16.99... I was thrilled.  My grilled cheese has never looked better. Seriously - Ricky even commented on it the other day.

AmazonBasics Padded Pet Bolster Bed

We took our grumpy old man on a ride to the park the other day... but did it right after we gave him an antibiotic. Bad move. He got car sick & threw up that pill & his dinner all over his little bedding that we put on the seat for him to be comfortable in.  Thank goodness that was on my seat though. Whew!  But thank to Amazon, we had another one at my door in 2 days & my grumpy old man can ride comfy as ever.

TomBow Dual Brush Pen Art Markers

These are what's gotten me started on my brush pen lettering.
& I've since tried other pens... nope - they are junk compared to these.
I see why everyone likes the TomBow name brand.
They really are fun to play with.  They have dual tips on them too so one to write with the brush pen lettering & then a fine tip marker on the other end, so perfect for writing notes or jotting down anything.  I love these. I need to get the other set with the fun colors.

VIV Collection Floral Leggings

Image result for viv collection leggings volcanic rose

I love these leggings.  & for $12.99, I had to give them a try. I originally bought them because they had roses on them & I thought I would wear them to see Beauty & the Beast.  Always thinking, I am... but now I'm just going to have to order some more because they are so comfy.
Someone asked me about the waist band & while I do love me some LulaRoe leggings (I have a closet full of those too) I dont mind the band on these. It's not as wide & thick as a Lula legging, but its not like its horrible. They stay up, they dont dig in, I dont have any issues with them. & again, for the price, I can give up a thicker band.

Dual Tip Brush Pen
 Dual Tip Brush Pen

So these are only $8.99... & I can see the difference in good brush pens compared to not so good. These are what I use to practice with because the tips are SUPER SOFT & give too much when you need them to be stiff - important to get some thin lines. Plus, they sort of fray & spread out causing some bleeding lines. Totally not something I'll probably buy again, but glad to have them for the fun colors & to use this ink for practice instead of my good pens.  I do like the thin tips of these markers though.

So that's it for this round...

I actually have a few more things I've bought this month, but I'll save them for next month's Amazoning link ... especially because after this big haul of a month, I'm going on a spending freeze.
Yikes! You're welcome Mr. Postman.

Well this was another month of ups & downs...
I guess that's what life is all about, huh?
But more stupid dental stuff. I'm going to be interested to look back at all these posts down the road & see how many of my months are full of stupid dental drama.  But this one also has some good happy moments so its just the ride of life...

So here we go -a quick glance back at March one sentence at a time....

The weekend I had a crudtastic race....

So I'm trying to get back to real life...
except there's this whole "my mouth feels weird" & "I'm still afraid to eat" thing happening.

Having a hole in your gum isn't the most fun I've ever had.  Sigh....

Friday, I headed out at lunch to pick up my race packet for the final race of the Triple Crown... the Papa John's 10 Miler. Or as I call it, "The most despising, hated, horrible, miserable race that exists". Sounds like fun, huh?

Someone asked me if I hate it so much, why do I do it?

Well, mainly because its the last race of the Triple Crown & I like doing all 3.  Why? Because a t-shirt is involved.  I'll do a lot for a t-shirt. But mainly because in my half marathon training, it always falls right when I need to do 10 miles anyways - so why not do it where people are handing you water & cheering you on & you get a medal?

& any excuse to drink a venti Starbucks doesnt hurt either

It just so happens this 10 miles is also in a park with horrid hills that I just dont care for.

But let's back it up.

Friday, I went to the packet pick up with still no wonder if I was going to make it to the start line of the race.  I mean, my mouth was still killing me - the hole is still in my gum.  Plus, the pain has been more intense on Wednesday & Thursday than it was the day of the procedure.  I am still scared to death to eat normal food so I've been on a liquid diet all week long too - & I can feel the lack of nutrition.  I think one day, I literally got something like 9 grams of protein. I'm supposed to get like 95grams. Yeah.... I've just felt blah all week. Plus, I tried working out ONCE & it was awful. My jaw was aching so bad - so I hadn't worked out, nor ran, all week long.

You can see why I was leery about showing up at that start line.

But I set the alarm anyways... & Ricky told me that we can do it.  Even if it was just me walking, I can do it. He was my biggest encouragement.  Mainly because he knows me - I would beat myself up for not doing it in the end.

So we get up early & I get my knees all held together with KT Tape & we head to the start line.

Everything seemed to go really smoothly on this race morning - a rarity.  We got there in plenty of time, got a good parking spot, missed traffic by coming in the back way, got to the start line with just 5 minutes before the gun went off - everything went perfectly.

... & then we started...

Good bye perfect race morning.

I just felt so blah from the beginning.  Instantly, I could feel the heart beat in my gum where the missing tooth was.  It wasn't horrible.  But it wasn't comfortable.  & then we got to about mile 3 & I was like, I'm not going to be able to do this.  Ricky again, being my biggest cheerleader was just telling me that he knows I have the strength to get through this... & in reality, we were at the point of going into the park - it was just pressing through & making it out to go back - or turn around at this point which would have been so disappointing. I still mostly wanted to chose to turn around....

but I'm all about PRESSING ON...

& then got on the back side of the park & was wanting to punch myself in the face for being so stupid.

MISERABLE.  I was miserable.  I had to walk the majority of the park. Even running on the downhill had my jaw throbbing.  & when we got out of the park & I hit mile 7, I literally said in tears, "I'M DONE - I'M DONE - I'M DONE!"... like screamed it.  I just wanted it to be all over with.

I told Ricky I was not running another step.  I basically was like a child throwing a fit at this point.  But there was no option but to walk the direction we were going to get back to the car - so Ricky told me we were just going to enjoy the walk.  No pressure - no hurry.  My time was already screwed. At the 10k mark, I was already like 8 minutes slower than my time from the last week ... & getting slower by walking.

So we just held hands & walked.  It made it easier. The pity party ended & we just had fun talking & watching squirrels fight... & I got to show Ricky a house that I love every year.  They have no grass - their entire front yard is flowers. & they bloom for only a few weeks & then its just like dead flowers in their yard. So bizarre.... but so pretty those few weeks of the year. I was glad to get a picture of it this year.

& then we were watching all the policemen on the road putting up ribbons on the trees.  See, in our town, a police officer was killed in the line of duty.  So horrible. He was a young man with a young family... he has 2 babies with one being a few weeks old.  His poor wife.  But they were going to take his body on a route that afternoon around landmark areas of his life.... & that area where we were running was where he grew up.  It was something to see all the blue ribbons on every tree down the road.

Finally - FINALLLLLLYYYYY - we were coming up the hill to the last mile.  At this point, it was almost comical what my time was & we even stopped mid race to take a picture of the finish line behind us.

Still a mile away... but there's the finish line in the parking lot

& as we rounded the corner, Ricky told me, let's run. I got tickled because I tried to run & I felt so weak & no energy & my calves were cramped & I just felt like I had never ran a day in my life.  I dont know why it made me laugh so hard... but I got so tickled that it pepped me up enough to run the last quarter mile to the finish.

I did it.  It sucked. 100% sucked.  ROYALLY sucked. My time, the way I felt, the day (it was cold & windy & gray the whole race) ... but I did it.  I crossed the finish line.. I got the same medal the winner got.  I crossed the same finish line that over 4,000 other people ahead of me crossed.

& in all honesty - I didnt even care.  I usually pout about horrible times & kick myself in my head... I honestly didnt care.  I was just proud I made it through after the week I had.

Though I have to admit, at the end, I was questioning if I'm going to do the half marathon coming up in a month. Ricky kept telling me I have a month to heal & recover & I'll be fine. I just dont want to feel this bad again in a race & I'm afraid its going to be just like this.... blah... I guess I'll cross that bridge in a few weeks.

How I really felt about the race....

The best part of this race... when you do a Papa John's 10 miler, you get Papa John's pizza at the finish line.  Me? I'm still afraid to eat anything chewy so I just went for the banana & Gatorade & told Ricky to eat a piece for me.

He was happy to oblige.  Poor guy earned it.

& then we walked backed to the car & I told Ricky, "let's run it"... & got tickled all over again at how sore my body was.  I think the crazy was leaking out.

The rest of the day was low key for us.  I had some plans for the evening that fell through, so we just hung out around the house.  Ricky took a nap while I knitted & watched a documentary on a guy that lived off of Craigslist for 30 days.  Crazy to me - people are so trusting.... I would have ran into a murdered for sure if I tried it.

Sunday, I headed to church & so glad to see my MSM girls since I missed the week before.  I ended up getting both 7th grade groups since the other group's leader was on Spring Break so I had nearly 20 girls... & it ended up being some great conversation about what Jesus was like as a teenager.

I ran to Target after church to pick up some dog food & some more soft food (I dont think I'm ever going to eat hard food again) & then couldnt help myself but treat myself to some goodies.  Ricky just shook his head when I showed him my new Beast & told him he had to tell me how cute he is!!!

It was such a beautiful Sunday... warm, sunny... perfect.  So I took advantage & took my book in the back yard with my fur babies & soaked in the Vitamin D

This title is fitting for my life lately

It was such a pretty day that I went ahead & put together a stroller that we had gotten from Amazon.  The intentions was to put Zoe in it since it zipped up & then we could take Bruno in his cart.  Zoe wanted nothing to do with it.  She kept trying to find a way out of the covered up netting (we put the netting in because I knew she'd jump out)... she was pressing her face against it with the most pitiful look & then tried to bite her way out of the netting. So the stroller aint going to work for her.  We tried it out with our little grumpy old man... he's all about it. He loves anything where he gets to venture out but exert no physical activity.  He's my spirit animal.

Image may contain: dog

& then we got to go over to our neighbors where I got to pet on some baby chickens & see the biggest rooster I have ever seen in my life! & then even get to touch a turkey!!!  So many animals for me to love on!!!!  They are expecting some eggs to hatch soon too.... baby alert around these parts!!! I'm all about any animal creature being born.

The rest of Sunday was full of laundry & bills & grown up stuff.... & eating more soft stuff.... sigh.

& then got strapped in for the WILD RIDE of the finale of THE WALKING DEAD..... I think I'm still holding my breath!!!!!!! #teamshiva

But a lot I guess was accomplished.... & while I was in some pain, both physically & dentally (is dentally a word?) ... & hungry... I felt a little bit of pride... & disappointment.... a roller coaster of emotions - just another weekend in the life, right?
