1. What's one thing you learned in September?
That a house can change completely & a heart break with the loss of one animal...
Can't believe its almost a month since we lost our sweet Buffy....
2. Acorn squash, butternut squash, spaghetti squash, yellow squash, zucchini squash, or blech! hold the squash!...what's your favorite squash? Your favorite way to prepare your favorite squash?
I love yellow squash with zucchini squash cooked up in coconut oil & onions & red pepper flakes.... yum!
I've wanted to try to make the spaghetti squash but have been afraid to give it a try. I'm going to do it this fall... a personal goal of mine...
3. The older I get the ______________________________.
... the faster I fall apart...
This has been me every day since I turned 40 |
4. What's your favorite television theme song ever?
If you're bored & want to relive some TV theme songs, check this out for the best 20 ... I actually had to watch most of them & did sing along... forgot about a lot of the greats... Love Boat... Dukes of Hazard... WKRP in Cincinnati... Laverne & Shirley... great ones! Go check them out

One song that instantly comes to mind... "Somebody save me" from Smallville... I actually went & bought the soundtrack for this TV show... & funny side note, Ricky just came in the other day & said, "Look what I found on clearance" - it was the Smallville CD. I told him, he's so '2000' - I've had it for years :) ... anyone need a Smallville Soundtrack?
Here's another one with no words that every time I hear, I'm instantly ready to grab a piece of wood & do some flip kicks...
5. What do you wish you'd spent more time doing five years ago?
Wish I would have given up Diet Coke then, gave up meat then... ran more... I think it would have made the transition into my 40's easier.
6. What item do you most need (or want) to add to your wardrobe this fall?
I need some new boots... I'm thinking I want some brown ones... its a NEED too.
I'm also on the hunt for some good jeans... which depresses me because I know it can take many, MANY, MANNYYYYY trips & try-on's to find the perfect pair... the ONE pair that fits. Because we know you can try on the same size in the same brand & it fit completely different. It's like finding the needle in a haystack.
The dance of horrible "Mom-Jeans" |
7. On October 2, 1950 the Peanuts cartoon was introduced to the world. What was your favorite cartoon when you were a kid?
I remember getting up on Saturday mornings & watching Smurfs. It was the only cartoon that was on for like 3 hours. Plus, they were Blue so my mother approved.
But I always loved Jem & the Holograms... & G-Force... I loved the girl on there - Princess! How do you not like the name Princess? My dad cut me out wings out of cardboard one time that strapped around my arm so I could run around the yard & act like her. ... & yes, I tried to jump off the porch one time to see if I could fly. Splat is more like it.
My first cartoon crush... Mark... Guess I was always a sucker for a guy who could save the world... & wear tights & a cape |
OH MY GOSH... I now know who I want to be for Halloween!!!! |
8. Insert your own random thought here.
So not only was it my mom's birthday yesterday, but it was Steven Curtis Chapman's release date yesterday of his new CD. I ran over at lunch, excitedly & giddy, to Family Christian Bookstore to get it. I walked in - see nothing... but remembered the last CD, I went before they had them out. So just figured they were in the back. I waited in line & then asked about it. They looked at me like I had 3 heads. They asked around to everyone & no one had a clue he had a new CD or that it was even released. They kept saying, "it must not be today"
.... this was the moment I restrained myself because I wanted to say, "Don't mess with me people & question me on the release date"... I actually did give a laugh when they said "it's probably next week"... step back people... do I need to do your job?
So I left empty handed... & disappointed... & mad ...
so what do you so when you're mad? Head to Twitter! I tagged Mr. Chapman, tagged Family Christian & told the story in 140 characters....
It was less then an hour & guess what happened. A guy from Sony Music tweeted me back asking me which store it was & then this is what I got...
@RebeccaJoKnits email your address and I will send you a signed copy courtesy of Steven Curtis. Email me at jimmy.wheeler@pmgsonymusic.com

YES!!!!!!!!!! ... I emailed him - he emailed me back.. & the CD is supposed to be in the mail today to me!
The power of Twitter!!!... the awesomeness of cool people who know I was ready to cry because I was Chapman-cd-less....
Shut the front door!! Love it that you are getting a SIGNED SCC CD. You go, girl!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! That's an amazing twitter story! Worth the frustration at the store :) I just went jeans shopping last weekend, and got a pair, but I'm only about 90% happy with them...they are a little long, but after trying on what seemed like 50 pairs, I just went with it :)
ReplyDeleteFirst of all how cool is that about the CD. You rock twitter.
ReplyDeleteAs for jeans, it isn't even the same size from the same manufacturer not fitting, it is the same size, same style in a slightly different color not fitting. I tried on about 8 pairs this weekend and bought two but not sure if I'll keep both of them. I love stretch fabric in the jeans but they stretch too much during the day.
That is so great- a signed copy of his CD! Good thinking on your part. The Mom jeans animation is hysterical. I have trouble finding jeans that I don't constantly have to pull up at the waist since the cuts these days are very low!
ReplyDeleteThat's great about the CD - but frankly I'm surprised you hadn't pre-ordered one on Amazon :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love some new boots too. Unfortunately my calves are the size of small redwoods (thank you Fox relatives!) so it's super hard to find any that will fit. Sad face...
Spaghetti squash? LOVE it!.. The Mom jeans made me laugh!.. And loved your story for random thought! Good for you!!!..Have a great week! ~tina
ReplyDeleteHow cool about the SCC CD! You go girl!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny when Joyce asked about cartoons I immediately thought about the newspaper, not TV because we never got to watch Saturday morning cartoons. LOL
I loved Buffy! Such a great show!
ReplyDeleteGet out of town, lady! You're getting a signed CD from SCC himself? No way! Man...I need to get on Twitter! Maybe Tim McGraw will come knockin' on my front door! ;)
ReplyDelete(((HUGS))) I know it is hard when they leave us. Keeping you in my prayers. Spaghetti squash is so simple. Cut in half, scoop out seeds, salt and pepper and roast until soft. Then you use a fork and it's spaghetti. My emotions are way out of control as I age. I gave up soda years ago when Richard Simmons talked about it over 15+ years ago.
ReplyDeleteThe squeaky twitter gets the CD! Congrats! and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI cooked spaghetti squash for the first time this year. I did The Biggest Loser recipe where they make 'fake spaghetti'. It was tasty but I should have drained the squash a lot more before adding sauce.
ReplyDeleteLove that SCC story! It's nice to hear about kindness in this mad mad world. Enjoy!
Amazing!!! I am so happy for you and glad your heart got to smile a little bit brighter with the news of the CD. People are great! Do try spaghetti squash, you'll like it:)
ReplyDeleteGIRL - GIRL!!! You are the coolest thing going right now. You have to know this!!!!! Even SCC has figured this out and is sending you a SIGNED copy of his CD. HOW COOL!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDak is a huge lover of all things Smallville. Him and Mr. Winslow got me watching it years ago. Dak and I would sing the song. I need to find that CD for him. That'd be a great TBT for him =)
My favorite cartoon was Johnny Quest and the Jetsons. Weird I know. I am complicated.
LOVE YOU ~~
