Just in case you hear me talk about JOY ....

It all started a while back.

I missed a women's ministry group.

I remember back in the day when there was a huge women's ministry group in our church.  We'd meet every other week & it usually involved going to someone's living room & people would bring snacks.

& we'd go through our workbook we were currently studying & we'd watch the video together & talk about the Bible & what God shows us ... because you get a room full of different ladies & you all are going to hear something different or its going to touch each heart differently.

God is cool like that.

& the best part of the study?  You'd get to really know the people in the room with you.

This is very accurate in my case

You'd laugh with each other . Cry along with one another.  Give support or encouragement when you were able.  Give a shoulder to lean on when needed.

... & then the women's ministry just sort of fizzled out...

Since that time, I just always did those work book studies at home by myself.  & it was OK - I learned a lot - God still spoke to me - I had new insight into things... but those connections were missing.

So when I saw Angie Smith (you know her - my BFF that doesn't know it yet) was putting out a Bible Study, I thought I'm going to do this...

Hi Bestie!!!  :)
& for some reason, I sent out a message to my friend & asked if she wanted to do it with me...

She immediately was like YES! Let's do it!....

& then time sort of went by - as you it usually does when you're busy in life - & we never really got it started...

& then we talked again about it & knew it was a time in both of our lives that we needed to dig deeper.

She asked if she could ask her momma to join us - of course, I love her momma dearly.

& then I was at a friend's house just talking about something totally different & mentioned that we were going to start this group & she too said how much she missed a women's ministry connection.... jump in with us little momma.

& then right as we are getting ready to start, another friend of ours said she was curious how the Seamless Bible study was & to let us know if it was worth doing.  Well, we just knew she had to join us as well.

& BAM... here we are... a group of 5 ladies now who has our own women's ministry.  A group that we just all instantly fit in with each other.

I can tell just talking with everyone that God has brought our group together at this time... especially because so much is going on in all of our lives already... & it seems like there are things to learn from every one of the ladies in the group.

We just had our first meeting about a month ago ago & had our 2nd meeting just last week at one of the ladies home because the week before?  She had just given birth!! ... which means that is #3 in our little women's ministry :) ... with #4 coming soon - regardless if its a boy or girl (we wont know till delivery day)

But we needed a name to call ourselves...
I mean, if anything, I'm a Instagram kinda gal & I needed a hashtag #priorites

I jokingly said we should call ourselves PUSH - since our one pregnant momma was getting ready to have a baby any day... I mean, it could work.

We PUSH ourselves to become better people.
God PUSHES us to strive to beat sin.
We PUSH each other to be the best we can be.

& then we found the word JOY.

I instantly liked it when I saw someone said it stands for "Just Older Youth"

Yeah baby!!

But then one of the other ladies said she liked this meaning of it...

We had a winning name....

How awesome is that idea?

JOY ... keeping things in order the way it should be

I'm excited to see where our little small group of ladies (& even smaller group of babies) leads... the relationships that come out of this.  I already love these ladies something crazy, but its going to be wonderful to grow in Christ with them too.

So if you hear me talk about JOY on things / pictures/ post - you now are caught up on what's going on & what I'm talking about.

I have a feeling I'll be talking about this quite a bit...

Do you have a Women's Ministry group you love?

What's your favorite Bible study?

  3. Love this! And such a great JOY description - I can be so bad about putting myself and my needs first, it's something I'll probably always be working on!

  4. I bought seamless not knowing you could by a DVD as well...think I may order it and when I finish my three studies I'm currently doing, and start a small group in my home. Love the relationships that come out of Bible Study!

  5. Joy - I love that acronym. Perfect!

Let me know what you think of Seamless. Our group is currently doing Jonah by Priscilla Shirer. My favorite of all we've done is Believing God by Beth Moore. Actually thinking about doing this again as so many new people have been added to our group since the last time we did it.

  7. I used to be a part of Hannah Circle at our former church and I loved it! I haven't found anything quite like it at our church here yet, but I'm not giving up! Love the name of your new group...I know it's going to be AWESOME!

  8. That's awesome :) I think "JOY" is the perfect name! I wish I had something like this. It's been on my mind for a while now. My church is older- I am the only female in my twenties. It's sad but I think my husband and I will be moving on soon. But in the meantime I'm really hoping to find a women's group to join and study with! I'm glad you've found some quality ladies (and babies)!

Authored by Kat Richardson, The Greywalker Series is based around the life of the protagonist Harper Blaine. Harper gets killed while pursuing a case, though her 'death' lasts only for two minutes as she is brought back to life by the miracles of modern medicine. However, once she is revived, she discovers that she now has a new ability, namely being able to move through the realm that separates our world from the afterworld.

  14. (explanation for delayed comment - it's slow at work and I'm sifting through old e-mails and came across this blog entry :) I do have some 500 more e-mails to get through ... ) This is pretty neat! I'd never thought of the different acronyms for JOY before but they all work. Has your group still been meeting? I hope you are because this was definitely a God-thing that brought y'all together! We're transitioning out of our home church and hope to find one that has a good group for our kids as well as an active ministry for men and women. I'm in awe of people who are dedicated enough to study the Word on their own but I need an accountability group to help me be consistent.

  17. Blood pressure Protocol is the measure of the force of the blood on the walls of the arteries. It is measured with an instrument called a Sphygmomanometer. Normal blood pressure is between 100/60 to 150/90. High blood pressure is a blood pressure of more than the upper limits of normal. Prolonged periods of high blood pressure can cause permanent damage to the eye, brain, kidney, heart and arteries. Factors that can influence high blood pressure include family history of high blood pressure, age, the types of activity you do, weight, diet, alcohol and cigarette smoking.
