Siesta Scripture #6

My pick for this round:

Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless & pure, children of God without fault in a crooked & depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life...
-Philippians 2:14-16

*Do EVERYTHING without complaing and/or arguing?  OK... that's the toughest thing for me to work on - why I picked this verse.  This is going to be a real challenge for me to even notice all the times I complain or argue... at a stop light?  In the grocery line?  Doing the laundry of 31 pairs of jeans? (See Friday Frag for more notes on that one) ;)

*Blameless & pure? ... that sounds wonderful.  Who doesnt want to be blameless?  Even after all the things we screw up?

*"Children of God" ... that sounds EVEN MORE wonderful... Also, its why I'm a PRINCESS... I'm a child of the King!  (cue Princess Wave)

*"Crooked & depraved generation" .... doesnt it seem that still fits this time of the world better then ever?

*"Shine like the stars" ... we sing the song "SHINE" by Fee with the youth all the time... raise the roof with it!  So now, this verse makes it even more meaningful

*"Hold out the word of life" ... Can you picture holding something out in your arms straight ahead of you?  It would be the first thing someone would notice!  Doing that with God's Word?  Yep... I want that to be the first thing people see in me....

Cant wait to see what other verses my Siesta-Sisters have picked :)

And if you want to rock out with me now... here you go...

Project 365... 2011: Week 11

Want to join along?  Just click the button below...

Sunday - March 6 - Garden eating already? .... I had this yellow squash laying around & needed to cook it before it went bad.  It was so yummy - & made me excited about the idea of summer gardens growing soon (not my garden mind you - but all the extras that others give away so generously) ;)

Monday - March 7 - Office/Physical Therapy .... I took a ice pack to work to get these ole knees healing up for the race on Saturday.  Luckily I have a box under my desk where I could prop it up & leave the ice on it throughout the day.  It really is helpful.

Tuesday - March 8 - Getting the mind PUMPED ... I wear these bracelets as reminders about my running - that I can DO IT!  Anything I put my mind to.  Dont you love these bracelets?  They are made by "Mudlove Potttery"!  I'll be doing another post on them later... with a bracelet giveaway too!  Stay tuned...

Wednesday - March 9 - Rain, Rain, go away... the rain is just non stop lately... geez...

Thursday - March 10 - See?  Lots of rain = FLOOD .... see where the arrow is?  That's where the edge of the water should be.  Its really flooded around the downtown Louisville area.  The peak isnt even until the weekend so the water is probably even higher then this a few days after I took this picture... Its been some pretty rough weather for people this year...

Friday - March 11 - Race Prep ... I tell you what - it takes lots of work to get ready for a race day.  I lay things out the night before so when I have to get up for a race (like at 6:00 AM- UGH) its a lot easier to get my stuff together.

1. Gloves (temp is 40 degrees)   2. KT Tape (my new Lovah)   3. My iPod Holder (which means my Ipod is charging)   4. My bib number + safety pins   5. My head wrap to keep my ears warm on the run   6. My awesome running watch with a GPS on it    7. My iFitness bag (a MUST)   8. My heart rate monitor band   9. NEW SOCKS   10. My clothes .. so this doesnt even show my shoes waiting too... see?  Lots of stuff...It takes time to get ready!

Saturday - March 12 - 10K Race Day... I did it.  My knee held together.  It was all help to KT Tape.  I'll be doing a post about that later as well.  It made the difference to my knee like night & day.  And I knocked off 8 minutes 45 seconds off my 10k race time from last year (same course)... I was amazed at that for myself.  Now back to training...

Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

Friday... friday... FRIDAY!!!!  This week has felt ETERNALLY long... but we've made it... let's frag

*****
Tomorrow is my 10k.  I'm nervous - only because I havent ran ALL week long, trying to let my knee heal up.  Which it is feeling better. (yipee)  So a few things could happen tomorrow.  *my knee is going to hurt all over again - maybe worse ... *Or it may be healing & totally will be OK ... *My body is going to be hurting because I havent ran in a full week!!! ... *Or my body will be rested from a week off & I may be better then I expect.  See?  I have no idea what tomorrow will hold.  I'm going to pin on that bib number & cross that start line & just see how it all works when I cross that finish line... wish me luck! :)

*****

TIME CHANGE this weekend!!! I have two feelings about this:
1.  I'm THRILLED because its going to be light later.  You cant even imagine how happy that makes this Sunshine-Girl!!!
2.  It will TOTALLY mess me up.  First, I have to be at church at 8:00 am Sunday - throw in the time change, its kinda like having to be there at 7... you have no idea how my lack of sleep is draining me lately & throw that in.  UGH... Plus - it just takes me a good week or two to adjust to time change.

I guess I'd rather trade some sleep & sleep adjustment for more sunshine though!

*****

I am honestly, truly, working on kicking back my Diet Coke habit.  After dinner, I usually have one (or two.. or three) more Diet Cokes before I go to bed.  This week, I've actually pulled out my water bottle & filled it up & added some "Crystal Light Green Tea" to it & drank that instead.  (Yes - I know that has artifical sweetner in it too... but its gotta be better.  Right?  Small steps people... small steps)
But Ricky saw me doing this & he just stopped... stared... & then said, "Where's my wife?  What have you done with her?" ... scary thing - I think he was really afraid...

*****

There's Ricky's name.. so let's jump into THE SPAT OF THE WEEK!!  This week its on JEANS!  Oh mercy... blue jeans... blue jeans... blue jeans.  They are everywhere in our house.  I am on a laundry kick - trying to get caught up.  Well, no wonder I cant get caught up... Just one day alone, I washed 31 pairs of jeans... 31 PAIRS OF RICKY'S JEANS PEOPLE!!! That's not even including the jeans that are already clean & not including some jeans that are still straggling around - not in the laundry basket!!! And remember, these are all Ricky's jeans... & that's not ALL his jeans!  ... & then ... get this... Ricky calls me over to the computer to show me what he just ordered online.  Take a big guess what it is... ANOTHER PAIR OF FREAKING JEANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....  I just shook my head.

*****

Question:  Why is Easter not on the same day every year?  How much does that mess everyone up? We know Jesus' birthday is Dec 25th (not really, but you know what I mean) ... but Easter?  It changes every year.  That just bothers me for some reason...

*****
hmmm...deep....

*****

I saw where a lot of people were upset about Glee this week.   For some reason, this one didnt offend me.  I appreciated they put a "Viewer Discretion" up beforehand.  And maybe I was just blinded by joy with Gwyneth being back on the show.  Plus, John Stamos back for a bit?  Yes - I was in my own happy world.  Tango'ing with Mr. Shue in my mind & singing "Landslide" for days afterwards.... I heard someone is supposed to DIE on the show before the season is over - GASP!  I'm actually trying to avoid finding out who it is because I want to be surprised.  (Please dont let it be Gwyneth....)

*****

Bachlorette:  Women Tell All... anyone watch?  Women are some catty people sometimes.  I dont know if Michelle's tears were real or not (I'm on the doubtful side) - but even if you dont know that & there's a possibility they COULD be real, those women who wouldnt let up on her?  WOW... anyone else thinking they're a little bitter? I just cant wait for the finale.  If Brad doesnt pick Emily, then I just chalk him up to be competely idiotic.  When its over - I'll miss most of all Brad's "Dear God" ... I LOVE when he says that in his country drawl.  But I'll recover fast from my missing Brad because DANCING WITH THE STARS will be on!  Trading Brad for Bruno?    Now there's opposite ends of the man-spectrum for you....

*****
OK - hope you all have a great Friday... dont forget to SPRING forward!!!

My Brother's Hobby...

My brother is 7 years older then I am...

Growing up, he had a weird hobby... something I tell someone & they dont believe me.

But I have proof now.

Going to my parents one day, they are sorting through all our family photos.  I started going through my box & this is the picture I see...

(Sorry the quality is bad - it was taken with my cell phone
& I dont have a super-awesome phone....
Im still sporting the old flip kind... feel bad for me...)

Sorry Tyra... there is no "Smizing" in those eyes...

What am I doing?  ... I'm crying...
What am I holding? ... my arm...
Why, you have to be asking?

...because my brother hit me... & then took my picture...

Yep - there's his hobby right there.

It was funny because in the pile of pictures were at least another 4 pictures of me with a tear stained face & holding some part of my body where he would hit.

My mom said she would usually hear this - in order:  SLAP - sobbing occuring - then see a bright flash

My brother working hard at aggravating....

Isnt growing up with a big brother fun?

I think its going to come back & bite him in the butt though.  His daughters, the twins, saw the pictures & Sophia asked him "Why did you hit Aunt Bec?" - He told her it was how he showed he loved me...

that caused a sparkled in Madi's eyes...

I have a feeling she's going to show her sister just how much she loves her really soon.

.. maybe with a camera in hand.

We have a Doctor in the Houussseeeee!!!!

Some of you may have seen this on Facebook last night...

But for those of you who hadnt heard - & for the fact that we just want to brag a bit more - I wanted to share.

Our girl, Julie, is now a DOCTOR!!!!!  Dr. Julie Bohannon - doesnt that just sound awesome?  Have a incredible ring to it?

... I think I will now call her, Dr. J ...

Yep - she had her final presentation last night before the Board & though it had some mental straining involved & nerves & stress... she survived - & PASSED...

She officially has her PhD in Biomedical Research.

What does that mean?

First of all, it means she's pretty awesome!

Second, I always tell everyone she's going to find the cure for cancer! ... well maybe not cancer, BUT SHE COULD!  She's already working on research for burn patients that has gotten attention in the medical field!  How dang impressive is that?  And she's on top of her game with all things "immune" ... all of this stuff just makes my mind feel like its going to explode.

But she did it!  All the while giving birth to two gorgeous babies & raising them... being a mom & a wife & a daughter .... GO JULIE!!!

I wish everyone could have seen Ricky last night... with Julie in Texas, I was talking to him about it all & his face was just shining with pride.  There is just nothing like seeing a proud parent, is there?

We cant wait to see where God leads her now - because
she WILL make a difference in this world...

We're just keeping fingers crossed that God is thinking of this Nanny & Pappy & that means there is a job closer to our house.  :)

Congratulations Julie... you worked so hard... & YOU DID IT!!!!!!

We love you & are high fiving you from all the way up here!

Never noticed....

I'm still sitting here with my leg up... bandaged... & an ice pack near by

My stupid knee... it just had to get messed up right in the middle of the running season.

I've already done 2 5k's & this Saturday is a 10k - then the 10 mile-run, then the half marathon.

I just want to get through the 10k.  I didnt pay to enter the 10 miler, so I dont feel so bad skipping on that one ... that will give me 7 weeks until the half marathon.  So I can take a week or two & lay off of it, but still have time to train in the end.

Those are my plans anyways... funny... we all know how often our plans work out how we want them to - right?

Yesterday though, I really noticed how I use this leg & exactly when the pain would hit.  Not even counting running... ordinary, daily life...

*Pushing my chair back away from my desk
*Squatting to clean under the bed
*Walking up 2 flights of stairs to get to my office
*Pushing the gas & brake pedals in my car while driving
*Turning over in the bed

All simple things... things I do everyday... & before this pain - I never even noticed or realized everything my muscles were doing.  We take it for granted, dont we?  Not realizing how important the things are that we cant see...

Then I thought about God & how sometimes, we take Him for granted.  He's always there - always helping us through our day & we dont even realize it.  Until we're in pain or hurting do we notice He's there...

When my pain goes away (Lord, please let it go away soon!) - I think I'll at least be more aware of this small area in the front of my kneecap...

When there is no pain in life - the good days - I want to be even more aware of the God who is with me in every step & every move I make...

The Lord will keep you from all harm-
he will watch over your life,
the Lord will watch over your coming & going
both now & forevermore.
-Psalm 121:7-8

Project 365... 2011: Week 10

Want to join along?  Just click on the button below to go to Sara's blog...

Sunday - Feb 27 - Knight Rider Princess ... this is a game that our new Youth Minister had the jr high kids do.  Its hilarious - they get a partner & if you call out "Knight" - you have to sit on your partner's back.  Call out "Rider" & they have to jump on their back... "Princess" has you leaping into your partner's arms.  Whoever is last is out until it gets down to the final couple... its awesome.  I loved "Princess" more then anything because one kid would actually run & FLY across the room into his partner's arms.  Luckily, his partner was a decent sized kid who could hold his friends weight... I laughed until I cried...

Monday - Feb 28 - Qdoba Youth Leader Night... we got together with all the leaders in our youth group for just a night of "hanging out" ... I had a great time talking to some of the leaders I dont normally get to spend a lot of time with.  It was funny because we all got there tired & exhausted after long days for each of us - but the stories & company just pumped us up & it ended up being a night of great laughs & getting to know each other more...

Tuesday - Mar 1 - LYSOL to the rescue... I mentioned this in my Friday Fragments... the ladies in my office had the stomach flu... I was not going ANYWHERE without my purple bottle.  Literally - I would spray the door way of my office & threatened anyone to walk in my germ-free zone...

Wednesday - March 2 - Weapons & MONEY? .... I taught the youth kiddos on money.  But I actually started out the lesson with some of my old weapons that I used to use when I was in martial arts.  Talking about discipline actually ... & how when we're disciplined, it makes us learn - even if we dont want too... & a lot of times, discipline turns into habits... & can actually turn into something we like... God wants us to be disciplined in giving... See how it connected?  And it never hurts to have sharp weapons to show Jr. High kids... it definitely grabbed their attention.

Thursday - March 3 - Wait?  My tooth just came out!!!! .... Yep - I'm holding my tooth... & see that black spot?  When it came off, I bit down on it, chipping off the porclein.  Its a wonder I didnt break another tooth doing just that...

Friday - March 4 - Before/After at the Dentist... Luckily - the tooth under the crown was not affected.  But because I chipped the porclein off the crown, I had to get a new one.  But GET THIS MESS... because this crown has been on under 2 years, (got it on in Aug 2009) insurance wouldnt cover a new one.  So I had to pay straight out of pocket for a new tooth!!! $850!!!!  The dentist though, bless her heart - was so sweet.  She ended up fitting me & giving me, for free, a $300 tooth guard so I will stop grinding my teeth ... which is what has caused many of my problems (broken teeth) & why she thinks this was loosened.  I actually cried when she said she'd do that for me for free...

Saturday - March 5 - Hope for the Children 5k ... it was rainy & my knee hurt, but I went ahead & ran this 5k that raised money for a team that is going to Romania to serve in orphanges.  I ended up a winner though - won a 1 hour massage for a door prize. SCORE!!! I need it for my poor knee... & it was rainy & I forgot the #1 of running in the rain... I wore COTTON socks.. a no-no... so blisters & a bum knee at the end of the night.  But I have a massage & a medal... makes it worth it :)

Cant wait to see everyone else's pictures... Keep Clickin' :)

Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

It Friday... I'm headed to the dentist in 30 minutes... lets get into fragging & I'll tell you more....

*****
Nothing seems out of the ordinary - the day is going well... I just got done running 5 miles... just made a healthy dinner.  Waiting for the rest of supper to cook, I just took a hot dinner roll out of the oven & started to chomp it down.  Ricky was talking to me when I took that bite... & he saw my eyes buldge out of my head.  MY TOOTH ... I JUST FELT MY TOOTH... I didnt know which tooth or what happened - but I just felt a tooth in the middle of that dinner roll.  I just spit it all out, & there in my hand was a crown!!!

Luckily, its had a root canal & didnt hurt at all... but people telling me I may have to have it pulled just totally freaks me out... I dont do well with having teeth pulled.  Please Lord... PLEASE LORD... dont let it have to be pulled.  We'll see in 30 minutes!

*****
To add to my plight of broken teeth, lets also talk about broken knees.  I'm falling apart...I've decided.  The past few months, my knee cap feels like its falling asleep.  So I'm looking it up & talking to other runners.  Apparently, it could be a pinched nerve in my knee.  Makes me mad because I'm progressing so well on my running.  Doing 5 miles every other day... I cant stop now... But ever try to stand on a foot that's fallen asleep?  Know how weird that feels & how sometimes you cant even stand?  Yeah... have that feeling in your kneecap... sigh...

*****
When I woke up Wednesday - the first words I heard from Ricky were, "Do you know its only 9 months to Christmas?" ... goodness gracious... how his mind works.  But it did put a little bit of panic in me thinking, "We gotta start shopping NOW"

*****

I share a bathroom with 2 other women at work.  They've both had the stomach flu... I'm freaking out... you all know my fear (crazed fear) of germs.  I have been literally walking around with Lysol in my hands, spraying everywhere I go... I then realized at the end of the day that I was having the worst headaches in the world.  I may not get the stomach flu, but I think I've inhalled enough fumes that my brain may be right next to Charlie Sheen's....

*****

Did ya see the line up for Dancing with the Stars?  I keep hearing people say they're disappointed with it.  I have 2 words for that...GILLES MARINI ... no one knew who that guy was, except as "That naked guy from Sex & the City"... but then everyone loved him & was cheering him on in the end.  That's what is fun about the show, to me - people just dancing - dont even really need to know who they are.... the fringe just hypnotizes & you're loving the show all over again... it'll be a good year... if it involved dancing, it'll be good! :)

*****
American Idol!!!! .... Yes, my favs all made it.... Casey & Lauren.... Paul aka Mr. Rose Jacket....  I've even loving Jacob now... especially after he was giving God all the praise for his talent... its gonna be a GOOOD year!!

*****
which leads me to the SPAT OF THE WEEK:  AMERICAN IDOL!!! I have a feeling this will be a recurring spat for the next 3 months.  Ricky's favorite is the Rocker, James Durbin.  Now, dont get me wrong. I like the guy too... but that screaming just GOT.ON.MY.NERVES during the try-outs.  I totally agree that he ROCKED it Tuesday... the screaming was appropriate.  It was a Judas Priest song for goodness sake - that's appropriate for rock screaming.  But Ricky was all in my face going "HA - told you he was good"... Dang dude... I agree!  I thought he did fantastic.. but Ricky must have kept hearing me say something like 'He just royally sucks"... which I didnt.  I just kept saying, "I am agreeing with you - he sounds great!"... it wasnt pretty... And then when my guy, Casey, came on, Ricky was just a poop head about him... if it comes down to a James - Casey Finale?  We may end up divorced...

*****

OK - I gotta jet... off to the dentist I go...Happy Friday all!!

A tricky topic

It was my turn to teach the youth kiddos last night....

You all know I so enjoy doing that... it involves TALKING after all.... I do love to talk...

Last night, I was feeling funny about it because guess what the topic was on?  Not sex, or addiction, or peer pressure, or parents or friendships... I can handle any of those... nope...the topic last night was on...

...MONEY...

I always hear Pastors say how much they hate to talk about money even to "big church" - adults... imagine talking about it to kids who pretty much will tell you, "I have no money so this doesnt even matter to me."

But I tried to let them know that in life, money WILL follow them. Afterall, those first cars are coming - which includes gas - which today's world means LOTS of money needed.  Then there's prom, college, apartments, weddings, houses, families... we never get away from the need for money...

Jesus says we cant serve both God & money... so even if these kids dont have what they consider to be lots of money, they can still try & grab the fact that they can set standards & priorities now for when they hit these things down the road.  Where will their trust & faith lie?  In money or more in God?

The funny thing - we totally put all our faith & trust in God when we die.  That last breath we take on this earth, we have total trust that we will be in Heaven, with Jesus, worshipping our Heavenly Father.  Its not so much though that we have this overwhelming, Mother Teresa, amazing faith... its really because we have no other choice... we have no control over the situation... we HAVE to TRUST God.

But we dont put that kind of trust in God while we're here on earth... why?  Because we like to control things...

So doesnt it make sense that the God, who we trust with our ETERNITY, would want to see how much we trust Him on earth, with the thing that we, most of times, put most of our faith & trust in... money...

I know it was a rough lesson for the kids... I tried to make it more interesting with side stories & even brought in weapons from my good ole Kung-Fu days... but I just pray that the heart of the message got across.

Money... its a tricky topic...

...the things you see at Subway...

I ran out to Subway for lunch today...

Going to a Subway in the Downtown area is horrible.  You've got to hit it at just the right time or you walk into a line that literally wraps around the whole place & you stand in line for 20 - 30 minutes.

Yep - I didnt hit the sweet spot.. I'm in line... a LONG line...

Good think I'm a people's watcher... I really love to watch how people act, how they treat others, the looks on people's faces... it says so much.  I've said it before & I'll said it again - I feel like the people on "Lie to Me" - I feel like I'm pretty decent at reading faces....

So then I notice a young man sitting at a table eating... he's probably about 17 yrs old.  He has a pink t-shirt which to me was odd for a young man at 17.  Believe me, I dont stare... I just catch glances... & then I noticed the front of his shirt was for cancer awareness....

About that time, he took off a hat he had been wearing... his head had a scar on the side of it... he had no hair... his scalp looked red & blotchy... like he had radiation treatments.

Here was this young man & suddenly, he didnt look so young to me.  Yes, in age he did - but in life, he was much older... he's gone through a lot.

I noticed he kept looking at the line.  In the line were two other kids about his age.  They kept turning & looking at him.  I wasnt sure if they were just staring at him or if they knew him.  They paid for their food & then went & sat with this young man...

I almost cried standing there in line...

These 2 young men who went & sat with their friend instantly took care of him.  They went & refilled his drink.  They checked he was ok.  They asked if he wanted anything else to eat (he had ate his sandwich while his friends were in line).  They were truly looking out for this young man...

& they sat there & laughed.. & talked.. & just enjoyed each other.

As I finally got through the line, I saw them finishing up & saw them helping up their friend to his feet.  Not in a "you're helpless" kinda way - but a joking, "we've got your back buddy" fashion...

one guy even rubbed their friend's bald head before he put his hat on him...

& then they were gone out the door...

I just kept thinking about them.  Having lost friends to cancer - having seen what cancer does to someone - having had the privilege of being able to help someone go through the process of cancer - I know what these young boys are learning helping their friend...

& its such a hard life lesson... but so much love in it too...

Love they are giving... love they are receiving...

These young men?  I have a feeling they are all going to grow up to be some pretty amazing men...

... oh, the things you never think you're going to see at a Subway....

Siesta Scripture Memory Verse #5

We're in the 3rd month of the year... which means verse #5... this is getting fun.
I really enjoy keeping an eye out (or a heart tug) for a verse that speaks to me....

So this is my pick for this round:

If you, O Lord, kept a record of sins,
O Lord, who could stand?
But with you, there is FORGIVENESS;
therefore you are feared.
-Psalm 130:3-4 (NIV)

Is anyone else so thankful that the Lord doesnt stay in Heaven with a book just marking every sin you do?  I'm raising my hand on that one. ... Jumping up & down, while holding my hand up actually...

I love the Message version of the last line - it says, "...& that is why you're worshiped"

All the things God does for us...& this is just another reason on our list on why we should fear, or worship Him.  Thank you, our Awesome God!!!

Project 365... 2011: Week 9

This is the last week of February... AMAZING...

Sunday - Feb 20 - Overnight Art... Look at this art work... its painted by one of the youth kiddos.. & she just did it overnight because she was "bored"!!! Isnt it beautiful?  If you could see it up close, its even more amazing.  It has like blood "splattered" across Jesus' face.  Her art work just blows my mind with every piece I see... She's letting this piece stay in our youth trailer.  Love seeing her talent GLORIFY GOD!!! Go Jordan!

Monday - Feb 22 - Cute Cards.... I wanted to be sure to send out cards to all the youth kiddos that went on the weekend trip to Believe... just a reminder of what they learned... just a surprise to let them know that we (all the leaders) love these kids.  Arent these cards so awesome?  I love stationary... Yes, I'm an office supply nerd...And for the challenge of 52 cards in 52 weeks - so far, my count is up to like 30 cards already!  WHOO HOO!!!  Call me "Overachiever" :)

Tuesday - Feb 23 - I HATE MORNINGS.... this is Bruno.  He snuggles with me every night.  I mean SNUUGGGGLLLLEEEE... I love this little fur-boy!  Well, when the alarm goes off, its like he doesnt want me to get up - he cuddles closer to me. Of course, that means I have to hit the SNOOZE button.  But when I get up, he's not taking the lead.  He'll curl up in the blankets where its still warm.  He's no fool... this is the face I saw when I was leaving for work Tuesday morning... doesnt it just scream at you to get back in bed?

Wednesday - Feb 23 - YOU RAISE ME UP!!!!! ... look at my tulips budding up!  I had to laugh at how they are lifting up the mulch.  I saw it & just started singing Josh Groban's "You raise me up..."  Look how strong those little tulip bulbs are... Oh, thank you Lord... the first signs of Spring!!!!

Thursday - Feb 24 - Finished off the first box... Dear Girl Scouts:  Why do you insist on making me cave in every year to your cookies?  Why do you send the cutest little faces to ask me if I'll buy a box?  Why do these cookies have to be so amazingly tasty?  ... I finished off this box of Samoa's... & gave the last 2 boxes we have to Ricky & told him to hide them from me.

Friday - Feb 25 - No Picture... & its amazing because it was the opportunity for so many pictures.  I picked up my race packet - went to my parents house - got everything ready for Saturday morning.. & yet, no picture.  I guess my brain was out of it...

Saturday - Feb 26 - I PR'ed... go me!!! .... Today was the first race of the Triple Crown of Running in our area.  Today's race was a 5k.  I did my best 5K ever... was so excited because the first mile I ran was also my FIRST 10 minute mile I ran!!!!!  I ended up knocking off 4.5 minutes off my time from last year... progress - I saw it today.

Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

So this Friday... no one has had their back ripped open (dont I put things so elegantly)... & no road trip with a bunch of kids on my schedule... so I get to Frag again!  Let's get to it!

Tomorrow kicks of the running race season around here.  A 5k is the first leg of it... let's get this party started... but wait!  What's that?  Its going to be BELOW FREEZING? ... yep.... the temp for the race tomorrow morning is going to be like 30 degrees.  My excitement for the race just dropped 98%.  Its not so bad running, but you have to get there early to get a parking spot - 5 miles away!!!!  Walk to the starting line - wait about 20 minutes before it starts - & that's where the cold is felt.  Running, you warm up - not a big deal.  But THEN, you gotta walk 5 miles back to your car with SWEAT all over you.  Remember my post on Frozen Snot?  yeah... I'm forseeing that tomorrow... beautiful....

Dont tell me Facebook is useless... it ended up winning me an entry into one of the races of the season - the "Papa John's 10 miler" ... 10 miles... whoo hooo... or ouch... I'll tell you after I run this one.  The funny part of this race - at the end of every race, they usually have bananas, apples, PowerAde... this one, because its sponsored by Papa John's... yep - PIZZA at the finish line!  That'll drive me to run faster! :)

SPAT OF THE WEEK: Since we're already talking about it - RUNNING!!!!!!   Ricky ONE time - for ONE mile - ran a 6 minute mile.  Remember, he did one mile & that's it.  But now, he thinks everyone - EVERYONE should run a 6 minute mile... & if you dont, then why bother - you arent a good runner.  It was quite the conversation for a SPAT of epic proportions when he said, "You have that little walking thing Saturday?"... first - its not a "walking thing"... its a 5k RUN!! Yes, people walk, but its not labeled as a walk... people compete here... then he said, "Its just 3 miles - you should be done in like 15 minutes" - 15 minutes?  Most people wont even get across the START line in 15 minutes!!! There will be like 10,000 people... I told him, "Why dont you just call it a napping, lounging, skipping event - where people just walk & pick flowers & smell them & take their time to cross the finish line"... are you serious? ... I'm taking my running shoes & throwing at his head for all of us that have our own times & compete against OURSELVES...

Do y'all realize they announce the new cast of Dancing with the Stars on MONDAY????  I'm so excited...

Anyone else see Jennifer Lopez freaking out about telling the American Idol contestant he didnt make it?  I totally loved her even more because of that... showed she was real.  I had to laugh though that Randy & Steven were consoling her when the guy who got booted seemed perfectly OK with it.  Granted, I loved his story, but he wasnt the best singer... but what a guy...

I'm pulling for Casey (the guy who played the big standing violin thing - what is that? - I'm not musically gifted) ... Ricky is pulling for the rocker guy with the scream.  That scream is already on my nerves.  I told Ricky he can only do it for so long... they cant give him a Josh Groban song & he really think he can scream in it.  I also am rooting for Lauren - the girl who dressed like a Country Barbie.  She's adorable... & I'd totally rock those pink sequin boots!

Anyone else excited about Adele's new CD?  I've totally fallen in love with her voice lately... I ended up buying her last CD "19" as well... I think I listen to her version of "Make you Feel my love" everyday... awesome.... I also want her fake eyelashes...

Hope everyone has a fantastic Friday!!!!
