Hodgepodge

1. What's the biggest change since your childhood in the way people think or act?

That everything is centered around technology...

Childhood was great because I was always outside.  Nights of neighborhood Kick Ball tournaments were the best...

Now, I'm not sure kids even go outside anymore... unless they're batteries to their hand held gaming system is charged.

2. The Olympic Biathlon involves cross country skiing broken up with two or four rounds of target shooting. Which part of that would stress you out more? Or would you love them both equally?

I actually am amazed by this event.  I mean, I run & then can't even hold my hand steady enough to hit the 'stop' on my GPS watch.  I can't imagine being so focused & able to control my breathing that I could shoot a target... I give credit to those athletes.

This would be more like how I would be at the end of the cross country skiing
... not so much having the ability to hold a gun steady....

3. February is National Canned Food Month...what is your most purchased canned food item? What was in the last can you opened?

I'm a vegetarian, so usually I have at least 10 cans in my cart every week of beans.

Black beans, pinto beans, white beans...

& to ward off questions, if you run beans under water, it washes a lot of the 'gas' away so no, I'm not an explosion waiting to happen.

4. What river (anywhere in the world) would you most like to cruise?

I wouldn't cruise a river...

I want to White Water raft...

I always have wanted to try it. I hear there are great ones in West Virginia to do.  I've always wanted to get to Colorado & see the beauty out there & surely they'd have great white rafting out there.

I'm such a chicken at most things in life - I'm not sure why I want to do that.  I'd be the one thrown out in the middle of the raging waters, my bicep tendon would kill me to paddle the boat, my back would probably ache with the jolting of the boat ... but it just looks like fun.

5. It's the middle of the night and you can't sleep...what do you do?  Count sheep? Toss and turn? Watch television? Or do you get up and do something productive?

We're usually up in the middle of the night every night now to take Sydney outside or to adjust her where she's comfortable, so its nothing unusual to be up in the middle of the night now...

I ususally toss & turn...

I read one time if you stay completely still for 15 minutes, you'll fall asleep, so I try to do that, concentrating on my breathing & also try to remember my Bible memory verses...

6. How important is keeping your cool?

Very important - I mean, this could happen to you....
& you know nothing good comes after this...

 7. I've got white stuff on the brain so why not run with it? White lie, wave the white flag, white knuckle it, white wash a situation, or white as a sheet...which phrase could most recently apply to your own life in some way?

White as a sheet.... I just talked about wearing the wrong make up the other day & how pale I am lately.

This will be me when I spend any amount of real time in the sun for the first time this year

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Fun video of the day...

Ladies that have been friends for 94 years...

They're pretty on top of their game...

  1. Technology has changed the world in so many ways that aren't always for the best. I think kids are missing out on a lot. My own daughter tells me it's easier to text her friend down the street than to pick up the phone and talk or actually walk down to see her. Sigh.

Those ladies are awesome. I hope I have all (or at least most) of my marbles if I live that long...and someone who remembers the things I do to share good times with.

  2. Friends of ours did a ten day trip down the Colorado and said it was the best trip they've ever taken. Sitting in the front of the boat is not for the faint of heart-just fyi : )

  3. Those little ladies are so precious and right on the money with what they said! Girl...I want to go white water rafting on the Colorado River so badly! Looks like such fun, but scary, too! Oh...I couldn't agree more with your answer to #1. Technology and kids today drive me bonkers! I have to stay on Abby constantly to put her phone DOWN...and we even have restrictions on it. UGH!

  5. I loved playing outside and my mother never knew where we were. My kids played outside a lot too only they would have to call from someone's house phone when they got there! I buy black beans all the time. I love the video....

  10. Ok, first of all, I couldn’t read this at work because the web filter thinks it’s about sex. Ha!

I've been white water rafting a few times - it was a LOT of fun. I think you'd have a great time - just tell them you can't paddle & sit in the middle :)
