Never Under Estimate....

I usually tape Biggest Loser & watch it later in the week... after all, Tuesday is Dancing with the Stars elimination AND Glee... could there BE a bigger night for TV?  ...(My life is sad, I know!)....

But Tuesday was MARATHON night on Biggest Loser & I couldnt pass it up.  Having run a HALF Marathon, I cant imagine doing that TWICE, which equals the full marathon they have to run.  It always brings me to tears when they start off full of hope & energy, when they get half way & feel like they are sinking, & when they cross that finish line... I'm usually a teary, snotty mess!

I love though that they have people along the way that push the contestants & inspire them.  This year, when Big Mike was getting to that hard place, not even half way through the race, you could see on him the struggle.  His shoulders were slumping a little, his head was down - he just looked like it was the roughest thing he had ever gone through (& physically, it probably was!)....

Then, out of the side jumped Teen Mike from last season....

I LOVED IT because Big Mike just started laughing & you could INSTANTLY see a difference in him.  He got a burst of energy, he was SMILING, he was revved up to go some more...

You could see a change in ALL the runners when someone would pop out - espeically when at the end, it was a family member with them to finish the race...

Having run just what I've run & even having STRANGERS pop out & cheer for you, I think we all need to be reminded how important our cheering is to others...

NEVER UNDER ESTIMATE what encouragement does.... it can make all the difference to someone... it can literally rev someone up & give them a fight to keep going in ways you may never know...in the whole race of LIFE, we all need to encourage & BE encouraged...

Havent you had someone stand next to you in a time of crisis, in a time of struggle, in a time of joy & happiness?  Isn't it a wonderful feeling?  I know I'm thankful for every person that has ever pushed me with encouragement... I never take those people or words or prayers of encouragement for granted...

Keep running!  Life is hard.... Life is fun...we're not in this race alone!

"But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today...." -Hebrews 3:13

8:46 - "Erin called the house just screaming... I didnt know what happened to her" - Erin's dad discussing the stalker that had been video taping her....
8:47 - "...she's not going to be the victim... this man is not going to stop her"
8:48 - Prince 'You got that look"... is this 80's night?
8:49 - did Maks almost just kick her in the head?  WHOOO - that was close!
8:49 - "You were the one who......" - dead air... Bruno must have let a REALLY bad word slip talking on Mak's MESS up
 - "that's what the censors earn their money for" - Tom... yep, he must have really let it slip...
8:50 - "This was a funky monkey sorta Paso Doble- I'm confused" -Len (I have to agree with Len - I didnt think it was that great)

9:27 - HOT DANG.... look at that kiss... that Anna put that in on purpose.... us ladies know that one!
9:29 - 10, 10, 10.... OH yeah Evan.... GOLD!!!

What did you think?  Think Chad needs to go?  In love with Evan?  Rooting for Nicole?  I'd be afraid to say no to that since I know P.Diddy is on her side...he may have someone beat you up if you go against her...
Can you believe another year of dance is over with next week?  How fast this season has cha cha'ed by!

Miss you friend...

Dear Steph,

Today is 3 years you left this world to go be with our Heavenly Father... 3 years ago, you left behind the pains & aches of this world... 3 years ago, life changed for me and for so many who knew you....3 years that feels like forever, but also just like yesterday...

Your children are still doing so well.  You'd be so proud to see the Christian men & women they are... you'd be a beaming grandma at how you're beautiful grandbabies have grown...you'd be so excited that a new one is about to arrive!  You'd beam with me & Ricky as we welcomed a new grandbaby too... I know you'd be taking Luke as your own too.

I still think of you daily & talk about memories we shared to Ricky.... the laughs we had... the trips we took... the times we cried on each others shoulders.... Something happens so often where Ricky & I look at each other & say "Steph would love that..." or "Remember when me & Steph did this..."

I think of you with every piece of yarn I buy - with every project I knit - with every yellow or red bush that blooms new every Spring - with every concert that worships the Lord - with every meal that I attempt to make (you'd still be amazed at that, I'm sure!)... with every day, a thought of something makes me want to pick up the phone & tell you about it...

With every joy I have in my life, I miss sharing it with you... with every tear I shed, I miss your encouraging words.... I just miss you friend...

3 years ago... life definitely changed for so many...

You are still so loved... and so missed MY friend (yes, Ricky & I STILL have that argument... I know you STILL love it!)

Words cant even really truly express how much you are missed... to me & to everyone who knew you...
Love you my sweet Angel Friend!!!

Project 365 - 15

So, I've missed two weeks of Project 365... but I think all the pictures I took of Isaac & Luke more then makes up for the missing 14 pictures... wouldnt you agree... but let's get back in the swing of things...

Sunday - May 9- Happy Mother's Day.... you've already seen pics of my beautiful blue momma in earlier posts - so I wanted to show the bird that is at my parents house... she's a momma too - has two baby birds in that nest... wonder what she got for Mother's Day?  Some vomited up worms... mmmm....

Monday - May 10 - What a beautiful surprise... A co worker bought all the ladies in the office for Christmas a plant that you pot & its supposed to bloom within 6 weeks... well, we are now in May, which is obviously longer then 6 weeks....we've not had any blooms... FINALLY, out of the blue, the most beautiful flower bloomed off one of the plants... it was worth it - look at how beautiful....

Tuesday - May 11 - My daddy ROCKS!!!!... The first picture is a book shelf my daddy made for me.  I've filled it up & had more books sitting on the floor.  My Dad to the rescue!  When I got home from Texas, dad had built me ANOTHER shelf on the side of the room.  He & my grandpa stopped by on Tuesday to finish up the bottom two shelves.... I've got to get them placed in because it wont be long before this baby is full as well!  Aint nothing my daddy cant make!

Wednesday - May 12 - Proof I'm a runner.... yep, that's my real big toe nail... turning more purple with each & every day.  I keep hearing I'm going to loose it & the nail will fall off... I think I'll puke when that happens...

Thursday - May 13 - Its getting HOT in here... See that temperature?  It was getting mighty muggy in this house.  Ricky's determined not to turn the AC on - but the DOGS were getting hot, so he went ahead & turned it on... (NOTE - as of today, the AC actually broke... so it's probably going to get really warm in here over the next week... sigh...)

Friday - May 14 - Senior Performance... I got to go see my buddy, Carly Sue, perform in her final Choral Performance in high school.  She will be graduating in a few weeks... I sat in awe at her beautiful voice & just couldnt believe she's grown up... I remember her as a little tike when I met her in church.  Where does the time go?

Saturday - May 15 - A lazy, sniffly day... My head is still stopped up & I cant breath.  I wanted to run, but you need to be able to BREATH to do that... its all just made me tired & lazy today... so I pretty much sat on the front porch & then started a puzzle in the kitchen... I sat there for 80% of the day, keeping close to me all the things I need - my Diet Coke & Kleenex for my faucet of a nose... I dont think I've worked a puzzle in forever... it was quite fun actually... still have to finish it - its 750 pieces.  But its a Disney "love" puzzle so that's medicine to put a smile on my face anyways.

I'm anxious to get around to all you 365'ers & see how your week went...

Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

*Oh allergies... head cold... sinus infection... whatever you are... please go away.... I'm feeling REALLY bad this week.  Started with sore throats, ears hurting, headaches, totally congested in the head & now, my nose is like a faucet...blah!  How does that work too?  A nose running, but you cant breath through it?  Not fair.

*I started a new project last night I'm so excited about... they are YOGA socks!  I dont even DO yoga, but I love these... they just remind me of mini leg warmers or something...

*Did you all see Betty White on Saturday Night Live?  That woman has some good comedic timing... some of the stuff was a little raunchy - but I guess that's SNL for ya...

*Speaking of comedy... I'm excited about "Last Comic Standing" coming back... but I KNOW I'm going to be angry.  I've NEVER watched where the person I want to win, wins!!!  And I yell every year, "I'm never watching again"... so yeah, I'll be tuning in again.

*Did you know that Heart worm medicine for dogs is like trying to buy some crack off the street?  Even if you keep up with giving your dogs the medicine monthly, you have to bring your dogs in for a heart worm test before you can buy any more medicine.  For us, with 4 dogs, & with the cost of the medicine - that comes up to about $1,000 for one years worth of medicine... You try to get the meds on line & you need a prescription from the vet as well... I feel like I need to go to some shady part of town & see if I can buy some... I think its sad they FORCE you to come in for testing.... sigh...we are headed to the vet on Monday...

*I've never been a big ice cream fan... when I was in Texas, Julie took us to Ben & Jerry's ice cream shop.  I wasnt going to get anything, but saw this flavor that screamed out to me... HALF BAKED yogurt... It has chocolate & Vanilla low fat yogurt with FUDGE BROWNIES & COOKIE DOUGH in it... & I mean HUNKS of those things mixed in... OH MY WORD... take me to Ben & Jerry's Heaven.  Its all I can think about 2 weeks later from our trip.  I have been to all our local grocery story stores & havent seen it for sale.  So I look up on Google Maps to see if a Ben & Jerry's ice cream shop is anywhere around... I did find one about 45 minutes away.... I'm getting desperate... I think I may have to travel out there....

*Have you been to my Book Blog lately?  I've had some good books I've read lately... plus, I'll be having some GIVEAWAYS on there soon... love books?  Then you'll want to keep an eye out over there...

*Last week on Grey's Anatomy, a lady came in the ER sick to her stomach & they said she was having a heart attack - that women have symptoms different then men.... the hypocondriac in me should have never seen that.  All week long, if I've been nauseated, I'm thinking, "Am I having a heart attack?" ... thanks Grey's for freaking me out!

*I'm expecting BIG things for GLEE next week... Neil Patrick Harris... the only three words I need to say

ok... I gotta go get more Kleenex... & rub my red eyes... & blow out my ears...

fun times

have a FANTASTIC FRIDAY!!!

A LIE-BABY?

We had our girls small group Monday... (Love those girls)

I had asked them what their favorite hymn was & one of the girls was telling me what her favorite Psalm was... it was some verses in Psalm 7...

As I was glancing over it - I literally busted out laughing.  Everyone stopped & just looked at me but Holy Moley - this was some crazy stuff...

You see, I have a Parallel Bible that has the NIV on one side & the Message on the other... I love the Message version.... it puts things in a "real" kinda language - will read the NIV side sometimes & be like, HUH? but glance to the Message side & be like, "OH - that's it"...

Well, this verse... I'm not sure what the heck I think about it...

Look at that guy!
He had sex with sin,
he's pregnant with evil.
Oh look!  He's having the baby ...
A LIE-BABY!!!!
(Psalm 7:14 - The Message)

And yes, Mr. Bean as a baby is what I envision a "Lie-Baby" to look like! haha!

I know there is deep meaning in that verse .... but sitting with a room of teenage girls, & my dramatic reading of the verse... we had a good laugh for about 10 minutes...

you never know WHAT you're going to find in the Bible!

Extending it for TWO weekends!

You rarely ever see my mom in something other then blue... she's ALWAYS loved blue!  You can ask my friends from childhood - they'll tell you she always was a blue-freak.  Even when Oprah told everyone to stop wearing blue eye shadow in the 80's, my mom said "WATCH ME OPRAH" & kept it going, & now, look at it - blue eyeshadow is BACK... to my mom, its never been gone! By the way, Oprah  now wears blue eyeshadow... my mom points that out....

So when I found this blue Smiley Face cookie - how perfect is it for her?  And yes, the envelope is blue too.  I dont care if the envelope that comes with that card isnt blue - you better search through all the other cards until you can find a blue one to fit... you'll hear about it if you hand over any other color!

I had a wonderful Mother's day with my momma... she's probably one of the funniest people I have in my life.  I've always said, she can make me laugh harder then any person I know of.  So we spend the day just kicking back with my daddy & watching TV, looking through my old books & kindergarden drawings & stories I wrote for contests in elementary school (Oh wow - some of these books... no wonder I'm not a published author!)  We had lunch & ate on cookie all day... it was just a perfect day...

And Mother's Day will continue to this coming weekend because....

Yep, we're going to see the Broadway Play WICKED on Sunday!  I gave her a wicked witch magnet & a Glenda magnet to represent the show - how clever am I?  Which she probably already has like 10 of each - but it was still cute.  You see, my mom is a Wizard of Oz NUT... I mean NUT doesnt even express her obsession with the movie... she has the most amazing collection - words dont even express... so WICKED is going to be even more fun for her...

Has anyone seen WICKED?  Did you love it?  Are we going to be "Defying Gravity" when we leave the show?

Love that Mother's Day gets TWO weekends for my momma... she deserves it... she's one cool chick...

8 hours later...

Yesterday was busy - which EVERYDAY seems to be busy to me... but I didnt get home until around 9 & then had a list of things to do before I could even think about getting ready for bed... so I turned on Dancing with the Stars LATE & by the time I could sit & watch it, I was just sorta fast forwarding through the dances - so sorry folks, the "normal" recap is out... but I still have some thoughts on the dancers.  And this is 8 hours later, so it'll be interesting to see what sticks with me....

Niecy & Louis - Still love the girl - but I think its time for her (or Chad) to hit the road.  She always looks beautiful in a ballroom dance - but I just think that "mean faced" Paso didnt suit her... I hate to say this, but she's not Top 3 potential.... but I love you Niecy, I really do...

Chad & Cheryl - Another one that I think can go.  I STILL dont see how he's made it this far.  I dont think he's a good dancer at all.  Seeing him wearing a pimp suit & talking about how hard is pimp hand is... ummm... yeah....I'm just anxious to see if/when he gets voted off, how long he & Cheryl will be dating.

Erin & Maks - Her Argentine Tango was very cool... She had to literally jump on the stage onto Maks' shoulders.  I would have freaked out & my jump move woulda looked something like Lucielle Ball - I would wrapped both legs around his neck & grabbed his head like a fireman's pole...Erin did it much more graceful.  That dance definitely suited her & her LLLOOOONNNNNGGGGG legs.  Their Rumba in the style of the 80's was blah to me... Cool she gave a shout out to Miss Leg Warmers herself, Edyta, though!

Evan & Anna - You KNOW he's going to nail a ballroom dance.  He's just so graceful... years of ice skating will do that... look at Will Ferrell as proof.  I was worried for Evan for the Latin round but they hit the lottery when they got "Futuristic" & was able to do a robotic kinda cha-cha... Didnt Anna look like the chick from Fifth Element?  How cute is Evan's little Wall-E voice too?  I'll vote for him just for that!

Nicole & Derek - WOW WOW WOW - that's all I really need to say about them.  First their fox trot was just the cutest little thing.  Nicole seriously made some of the pro's look like stumbling fools... & then they had a 60's Paso!  How do you combine that?  Derek was challenged but BROUGHT IT... All I kept thinking about was Cha Cha & Danny dancing in Grease... It was one of the coolest dance I think I've ever seen on there.  Some of the moves were so dang fast, Nicole was just amazing... but why did she look so glum afterwards though?

So you all tell me what YOU think...Did you like that example of a future dance with the "silver people"?  What was with Len giving the ONLY 10 for Erin? Did you think Brook looked like she couldnt move in that dress that looked like water hoses were wrapped all around her?  And what was Vera Wang doing there?  Designing a wedding dress for one of these love-bird-dance-couples?

"Was that you that gasped?"

I know I havent had any pictures of this "baby" lately - she is the baby of our girls...

That's what happens when you're a 21 yr old college gal - she has a life on her own now & we dont get to see her anywhere like we used too. Wasnt she just 4 yrs old the other day?

Lindsay has always had a love for acting & has been in many plays since middle school.  Now, she majors in college in "Theater Management"... so she's now in a beautiful theater in her college & she's just getting better with each performance.  When she's accepting her Oscar on the Academy Awards one day, you can all say you saw her here first...

(This is right after the play with her daddy)

This play she was in was called "Vanities" - & it only had 3 character in the WHOLE play... it was the story of 3 girls who grew up together.  3 scenes - when they were cheerleaders in high school in the late 60's - then when they were in college in the 70's & then as they were adults in the late 70's...

It showed how they all grew into different lifestyles with different values - different people from the good ole high school days...it really was a sad ending, making you kinda long for the good ole innocent days.

The scene when they were seniors in college - they were talking about the "hippies" & the Vietnam War & the Godspell album & how "cool" it was... Then all of a sudden, Lindsay has a line that just takes me to the scene in "A Christmas Story" - it was like everything went in slow motion as she opened up her mouth & the word, "FFFFUUUUUUUDDDDGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEE' came out of her mouth...

Yeah - only she didnt say "Fudge"...

As Ralphie says: Only I didn't say "fudge." I said the word, the big one, the queen-mother of dirty words, the F-dash-dash-dash word!

And when she did - I gasped... not just a gasp - but the LOUDEST gasp you could imagine... the kinda gasp that people stopped & turned & looked at me... I instantly covered my mouth & then had to stiffle a laugh because I couldnt believe the natural reaction I had.

At the end of the play, when we could finally go see Lindsay - she walked right over to me & the first thing she said to me was "Was that you that gasped?"... I started laughing & told her yes!!!  She said she could hear it on stage & she just KNEW it was me....

I had to laugh at my reaction - I had to laugh that she KNEW it was me ....

But I thought driving home that night, how many times do we do things that we know our Heavenly Father would almost GASP at...... not that He's surprised, but that He'd rather us not do that "thing" - that He hates it for US - that He would want us to to make a different choice....

And just like Lindsay knew me & her dad wouldnt appreciate that - she knew we'd still love her, still see the wonderful job she did in the play in the whole, not just focus on the one thing that we may have frowned down on ...

I'm thankful that God still loves us no matter what....

And can you IMAGINE the bar of soap God could put in a mouth?

Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea
This time last week, I was in Texas, so no fragmenting for me... but its a new week & sadly (...sniff ....) I'm not in Texas, but back home - so let's Frag away!

*No one really tells you that running makes your feet just hideous ugly!  Between the blisters, calluses & now, my purple toe nail that I'm scared to death is going to FALL OFF... shudder...my feet are ALL jacked up!  Getting in shape & healthy is HARD on a body... how messed up is that?

*I'm totally gagging right now... I typed in Google "Purple Toenail"... & OH MY... the pictures that came up... DONT DO IT... I know you now want to go type it in & see what comes up under images... Trust me, your friendly blogger, Rebecca Jo - you DONT want to do that... If you're not listening to me & you do it anyways - check out the botton left picture on the bottom... OK, dry heaves are coming again...
*I am on a new mission to clean & throw stuff out!  I feel like my house has become a place like on the shows on Hoarding... NO - that's not a REAL picture of my home - its not anywhere close to being that bad, but in my mind & when I'm cleaning, it feels like it sometimes.  I've already got 3 hugs bags packed & ready for the next trip to Goodwill...the drawers in the kitchen will be what will drive me insane... but I'm at the point where I feel like walls are closing in - so this will be a challenge for me over the next few MONTHS... I have learned to hate clutter...

*I was going to run in a 5k at our local zoo tomorrow... love the zoo... love animals... but I'm loving the idea of SLEEP more!  I havent really slept in for-EVER it seem...Its supposed to be a beautiful weekend so I think I'm going to snooze in & then just get in 5 MILES on my own... much better then the 5k... & lets see if another toe nail turns purple!  (Can you tell I'm obsessed about my purple toenail?).... watch - I'll wake up like at 7 am anyways...

*This years Survivor Heroes vs. Villians has been the BEST Survivor EVER... seriously - I have jumped & cheered & fist bumped Ricky  more time during this season then I ever have!  I think Russell is a demon in disguise though...How in the world does he manipulate people so easily?  Its amazing to watch.... Who are you rooting for to win?

*LOST... do you see this picture...then you know I cant talk about it... I havent cried like that about a TV show since George died on "Grey's Anatomy"...

*I have discovered EDAMAME... anyone else eat those little things?  I found a bag that said they were 70% less fat & 40% more proten then Peanuts... so I gave them a go... they're really not bad.  That may be the healthiest bit of food I've ever eaten since I dont care for veggies that much...

*I'll spare you anymore grandbaby pictures today... BUT I'll give you a video instead!  HAHA - I'm sneaky!  I love where Ricky picks him up by his arm because the waves came in really fast... & sorry for my screaming & laughing... You'd think it was a tsunami coming in the way I was reacting... but being dramatic is a spiritual gift I have...
