We did it... we survived the first full week back to work.
Or at least we made it... 'survive' could be looked at differently.
I know I needed the weekend something fierce... need to ease back into real work life.
We originally had plans for Julie & the boys to come up to celebrate Christmas, & with all the sickness, its been pushed back... well, Julie still hasn't felt that great & send me a message saying that she was still feeling bad & Isaac had a sore throat so they were going to not come. & then she told me to go ahead & take down my Christmas tree. Sad.
I will say, I was glad of the idea of getting my house back to normal... so this weekend had me taking everything down... except the tree. Oh, the ornaments, the ribbons, the bows are all off. But I still have all these presents around it so I didn't take the tree down. So I have all my tables back to normal pictures & no more garland on the banisters & no more Santa Clauses around the house... just a bare tree with gifts under it in the corner. Weird.
This is probably going to be the look people will give coming into our house |
Since they didn't come up on Saturday, we ended up with no plans & that left me in sweats & no make up all day long on Saturday. No complaints there.
While taking the tree down, I ended up getting caught up on TLC, the home of sweet shows like Say Yes to the Dress, or 19 Kids & Counting (love the Duggars), or The Little Couple ... but not this day. It was a day of freaking me out. The first half of the day was about Extreme Cheapskates. I get being frugal, but these people? Insane! I mean, one lady didn't want to pay for numbing medicine for a root canal & then decided to go home, watch a video on YouTube on how to remove a tooth & had her husband do it... I'm not even lying. I actually screamed watching this...
... & a man who spits out his mouth wash into another bottle so he can use again... did anyone else just kinda gag?
Next up was Hoarders: Buried Alive. OH.MY.GOSH.
I have never felt so claustrophobic in my life watching that show. How their 'stuff' was so piled up that when they would stand on it, they would have to lean down so their heads don't touch the ceiling.
You need a show like that to make you never want to buy another thing... & want to throw away half of what you already have in your house.
Sunday had us back at church with those awesome youth kiddos.
One of the kiddos is having a hard time with his teacher & he was telling me how mean she is & how much everyone hates her because she's just evil to the kids. I guess being a kid always will have the same issues. It was so funny because I told him that you never know what she's got going on in her life & maybe if he was just kind to her, even when she's mean, maybe it would help her realize that people can be good. He just looked at me & said, "She may have something going on in her life, but it must be going on for a LONG time because she's been mean FOREVER'... oh gosh.. he was so serious that it took everything in me not to laugh at the cuteness.
Ricky &I had to go do our weekend Target trip. I blame these trips solely on Harvey Dent. He is so spoiled that he expects a rawhide bone after every evening meal. I mean, he will sit & stare at you until you give him a bone... & even more so? He'll crawl into your lap & lay across you until you give him what he wants. Who is the owner again? ... apparently he is... because I go to Target every week to load up on a week's supply of rawhide bones. Hey, it keeps him out of trouble.
What happens when he doesn't have something to keep him busy |
We went to a local sports restaurant that shows all the sports games on... & I will have you know, I actually got into the Cowboy / Packers game. Yes, I had to ask a ton of questions. A few that Ricky laughed at me about... but you got to start somewhere to learn - right?
This is so me in a room full of people watching football |
When we got home, I wanted to watch the Broncos / Colts game... we have friends that LOVE the Broncos... but we're in Indiana... so a lot of torn division going on with this game. I was all set to watch it... but then realized that the Golden Globes red carpet was on.... goodbye football.
*Amal Clooney - gloves - So classy!
*Jennifer Lopez - beautiful! How she gets her chest to defy gravity like that, amazes me.
*Tina Fey & Amy Poehler - I just want to go to dinner with them.
*Michael Keaton - wow... looking old, but will always be Batman to me... I thought the other Batman, George Clooney, actually looked really old too ... all this 'old' I think can be accounted to High Def. I never want to be on TV now.
*So happy the actress from Jane the Virgin won for best actress. I adore that show.
*Kate Hudson was probably my best dressed person... amazing!
I was sad that Joan Rivers wasn't around though... a red carpet just won't be the same.
How was your weekend?
Did you watch the Golden Globes or football? Or both?
Anyone else still have their Christmas stuff still up?

I had no idea there was a show...extreme cheapskates!! After what you shared, I don't think I will ever watch it. I have watched borders and it totally makes me want to clean out a room!!
ReplyDeleteTV was set aside last night to play cards with my son who left this morning for college. :(
I do not like to watch the hoarders shows and I don't think I'd like the cheapskates either. Although, maybe if I'd watch the hoarders it would make me work on getting organized and de-cluttered a little harder. lol
ReplyDeleteThose hoarders shows and extreme frugality shows scare me! I didn't watch either football or the awards show yesterday. We went to Dave and Busters to play games with a friend for her birthday. It was a lot of fun and I'm catching up on the fashions today :) Kate Hudson looked amazing! I'll also be watching football tonight with the college football championship.
ReplyDeleteI can't even watch Hoarders - it just gives me anxiety! And I wasn't super impressed with the fashion at the Golden Globes last night but I did think Reese Witherspoon and Chrissy Teigen looked amazing!
ReplyDeleteI hate taking down Christmas decorations.. It makes me so sad... If it were up to me, I would leave them up until the end of January. Haha! I work at a preschool and hearing children's opinions on different things can be hilarious! I have to turn my head to keep them from seeing me laugh, at least 100 times a day!
ReplyDeleteHoarders scares the crap out of me - how people live like that is just so scary!!! I loved Kate Hudson, but it was a tad too revealing, but she looked amazing in it!! xo, Biana - BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness just reading your descriptions of those shows was enough for me! no thank you!
ReplyDeleteRemove her own tooth? What the heck?? I watched the Golden Globes last night and thought everyone looked really orange. Either it was my tv or someone got a little too happy with the spray tan!
ReplyDeleteI've watched that Extreme Cheapskates show a few times and all I can say is, "WOW!" Some real looney birds on there! How was our weekend? Well, it was pretty busy, to say the least. We found Brittany an apartment, then on Sat. we had to go out and purchase furniture for it. She's getting a stipend to use for moving expenses, so that helps A LOT! She is beyond excited and I'm thrilled for her! Exciting times are ahead!
ReplyDeleteI can't watch Hoarders anymore, I honestly have panic attacks. It's nuts.
