Week one has all the blahs .... {Training Tuesday}

Blah.

That's the best way I can describe my first week of half marathon #8 training.

Blah.

 :

OK - I'll do it better

BIG BLAH!

I dont know what's going on with me. I'm just not feeling like myself lately.  I got the workouts done.  & they were tough.

I can tell I haven't worked out in awhile.  At least when it came to the strength training. My muscles were shaking like a new born deer trying to stand up on shaky legs.

My running was surprisingly OK.  Even though my knees already ache & hurt & are popping on day one.  Hello 45 year old body.

I just dont have any 'ump' in me right now.

I'm doing the workouts but if I had a choice, I'd go home & get in bed & pull the blankets over my head.

I'm forcing myself to do this right now.

Basically how I've felt all of 2017

Not sure if its the weather.  Not sure if its anxiety or depression settling back on me.  Maybe its just overthinking things.  Not sure what's going on.  I just know I'm waiting anxiously to feel like myself again really soon - body & mind.

Anyways - I got week 1 done.  Accomplishment in any form works for me right now.

Monday - Run 3 minutes / Walk 2 -  7 Rounds
Tuesday - Chisel Endurance
Wednesday - Run 3 minutes / Walk 2 - 7 Rounds
Thursday - Chisel Cardio
Friday - REST DAY
Saturday - 3 miles
Sunday - YOGA

To get off this gloomy bus, let's focus on the fact I finally did some yoga! YAHOOO!!!!
I felt really good doing it too.
Now, if I can make it a habit on Sundays, I'll be in business.

As for Nutrition I got in one vegan meal for the week
... & totally blew it one night. I, again, just didn't feel like myself & threw all cares to the wind & said Screw it, give me anything that has sugar in it. I ended up eating all the leftover candy in the house.  Balance. I'll call that balance.

Fingers crossed week 2 has me pepping up some.
Always something.... & the sun HAS to come again, right?  Spring is around the corner too... counting on it.

At least all the holiday chocolate is gone!

Pressing on!!!

Linking up with Nadine for getting back on track

  1. Awww, friend :( I'm absolutely sure it's the weather that's got you drained and exhausted. Usually S.A.D. doesn't affect me, but this year it's rough. I love winter, but my motivation and energy is so, so low.
You know what, though? You did it! You stuck to your schedule for every day- even yoga! So go you!!

  6. Yes, it is definitely easier to throw on sweats and get back in bed. I want to do it all the time BUT remember how great the feeling will be of crossing the finish line and receiving your medal and all the hoopla! Seriously though, if I didn't sign up for races I wouldn't be half as motivated as I am (and that's not even a lot now days..lol).

  9. It's so hard at this time of the year. But from here on out we should be getting more sun so hopefully that helps! And the first week back to training seems like it's always a struggle.

  10. I have the same fears of shaking like a baby deer when I start working out again too! I have been told by a few people that the muscle memory comes back quickly though so maybe take comfort in that! And yes, balance is the key word in nutrition. If you are feeling off one night, you can always get back on the next day. :)

  11. My motivation has been zero too. Last week it was very gloomy and rainy, which didn't help. It's sunny now so I can't complain but it's going to rain later this week, which we need and yet ... it just echoes my meh mood. Here's to brighter and motivated days in our future!

  12. Thanks for linking up with us!! Just keep going, you will find your groove. I think making the effort is half the battle and it just gets easier the longer you stick it out!

  13. I felt that way for a few months & actually stopped running almost entirely for the month of December. It was definitely anxiety & depression.. but once I got back into a routine & kept with the workouts, I started feeling better. Good luck!

  14. Keep pressing on! But yeah, I totally know what you mean. The weather, the holidays, the political arena/circus, family issues, work issues, pretty-much-everything issues ... all of this is keeping me down. Hopefully you'll get your groove back on and find that oomph! And yay for yoga! :)

  15. No words of wisdom here, from your old friend who sits at work all day and then sits in front of the TV all evening. I know you can do it, though! You are pretty darn amazing!

  16. You know what? You did great. I'm like you and expect perfection from myself and when I don't live up to my standards, I feel like I've done nothing. But you're awesome and you're kicking all kinds of butt.

The unsettling feeling of depression and anxiety is the worst. If you need to talk, I'm here for you.

  17. Don't be too hard on yourself. I know that feeling. I had it when I was getting back into running. And I am sure I will have it in a month when I start running and training again. I had surgery and can't run for a month or so. Boo. And I feel so bloated from surgery that it does nothing for my self esteem. Give me all the candy too!!! Ha. But at least you are keeping at it. We all deserve a little break sometimes. Give yourself some grace!

  18. Stay positive, Sister! Remember! You're running for both of us! Ha! Seriously, though! You got this!

  19. Ugh I hate that feeling! I go through those phases where I can get it done, but I just feel off and not like myself. I hope you can push through it and have a better week this week!

  20. I don't see how you do it! I don't run unless there's a fire. ;) But seriously, thanks for owning up to your training and how everything has gone so far.

  21. you're not the only one feeling the blahs lately. last night was muay thai and although i showed up, i was totally ok with not working out. when my trainer asked me why i wasn't dressed yet, i told him i was tired and not feeling it to which he immediately said "what's wrong? are you ok?" since he knows that i love working out and for me to not feel like working out is a strange thing for him to hear LOL.

maybe next week will be better for us!

  22. OH MY LORD, the "G" in lasagne meme has my DYING! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. I've been doing my yoga. Doubled(ish) my goal for the last two weeks. The last few days have been crap in terms of getting anything done. Hoping to hop back on the yoga train today and finish out the week and weekend extra strong. XO - Alexandra
