A week of vacation....
You think it looked like that?
Oh no.. you'd be sadly mistaken.
This is what more of what my vacation looked like.
Doctor's offices & hospitals & rehab centers... & license branch to renew tags... & no new sink & faucet by plumbers either... some days of feeling yucky & sick... & some days that make you stop because it takes your breath away with news that can change your world in a blink of an eye.
Oh, also didnt get to sleep in. I was up the first 5 days by 5am... 5 AM PEOPLE... WHY??? I dont know - I couldnt sleep. I was tossing & turning & just so anxiety ridden, I just couldnt sleep. One night, the Hubs & I had gotten some upsetting news & neither one of us slept that entire night at all. I think maybe I got 2 hours sleep that night... which made the next day a total bust because I didnt think I could put one foot in front of the other.
So, all that to say, I guess vacation doesnt like us very much.
You know what - its what I told someone yesterday, I need to look at it through different eyes though. I cant imagine everything life threw at us last week while having to work, so if all the things that were going to fall apart in our lives & my families life, I'm glad it was the week I was off work. Right?
& it wasn't a total bust.
We got to go out to dinner to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary.
I got to go to a bookstore that the Hubs WILLINGLY let me go to... & I found some clearance books!! I even gasped when I saw A Curse So Dark & Lonely... I've heard all the good reviews about it.
Also got to go to Lifeway Christian bookstore - which I thought was already out of business... & got 90% off some things.
I got to read through 2 books.
I got to knit a lot.
|Working on 2 socks at once|
Got to get Bruno up & moving more during the day... which his WHEELS come in today via UPS... please let it happen. Cant wait to see how he moves in them!!!
I got to binge Living with your Self with Paul Rudd & also American Horror Story: Asylum (season 2) - perfect for Halloween.
Speaking of Halloween - I also watched Hocus Pocus probably 3 times.
Even picked up a gift or two for Christmas.
& honestly, I always say, a bad day at home is still better than a good day at work, right?
Well... maybe not totally true... but I'm still grateful for the time off.
Also grateful to be back at work really.
I really do like my job & I also am a stickler for a schedule... so let's just hope that me being back on a schedule puts a little halt to all the drama life likes to toss like a flaming pumpkin at us.
Now, if only we didnt have to deal with Daylight Savings Time....
What was the best thing about your weekend?
Sorry to hear your vacation wasn't so great. Is everything ok health wise? I have heard A Curse So Dark and Lonely is amazing but haven't picked it up yet.ReplyDelete
I'm so sorry that vacation wasn't what you had hoped for, but glad you guys got to celebrate your anniversary! xo, Biana -BlovedBostonReplyDelete
I’m sorry for the bad in your vacation, but I so love your attitude about it. There’s always something to be thankful for if we’ll just look. Thanks for looking and reminding me of that truth. Hope you have a great day back at work.ReplyDelete
Oh no! I’m so sorry you had a rough week. I hope this week is brighter and happier with good news instead of bad.ReplyDelete
I am sorry for all the troubles you experienced during your week off and hope things get better soon for you all. I will be praying extra for you! Sending a hug your way!ReplyDelete
I'm sorry your vacation wasn't so much of a vacation, but I am glad you were able to look at it through glass-half-full eyes <3 Also, those books?! LOVE! Yay for a good bargain!ReplyDelete
The reading and knitting part sound glorious. Sorry you couldn't sleep in though... that's one of the best parts of vacation usually.ReplyDelete
oh girl i'm so sorry to hear about your week off and the upsetting news. hugs. that's a good way to look at it though, it would have been that much harder if you'd had to work. i am SO jealous you got curse so dark and lonely for so cheap! i want to go to that bookstore lol. because i need more books.ReplyDelete
I can' wait to see Bruno on wheels! Pictures!ReplyDelete
Aw, so sorry it was a rough week. I hate not sleeping well. You sure found a few positive glimmers of light in htat bad week.ReplyDelete
I was just thinking that before you said it....It was a blessing that you were able to be at home ( or not have to go to work rather) during this tough time. I am so sorry you and Ricky got some terrible news. I hope it wasn't another death in your family.ReplyDelete
I had never seen Hocus Pocus so a few years back I saw it was on TV and thought I would watch it. I didn't get through it, it just didn't hold my interest, although I REALLY wanted to like it....lol
Sorry to hear that the time off was NOT a vacation. But you're good at finding silver linings!ReplyDelete
The Hazelwood was interesting. Interested to hear your thoughts!
You amaze me my beautiful friend, you could have such a crappy and rough time but still find the rays of shining light in it all!ReplyDelete
