My day started off with a surprise.
Got an email that asked if I wanted to review Angie Smith's book & then they'd send me another one for a giveaway.

If you don't know, I'm obsessed with Angie Smith.
She's my girl-version of Steven Curtis Chapman... that doesn't sing
She's my person that I just know would be my best friend if we ever met
.. her & Kelly Ripa..

Flashback Memory:

This was as close as I got to Angie Smith
I was next in line to get in & they shut the door & said the limit was reached
NOOOO!!!!!

You can't tell, but I actually am crying

Everyone ready for the Super Bowl?

I'm not a huge fan of anything but I'll be rooting for the Denver Bronco's

Why?  Because my sweet friend Steph was a HUGE Bronco's fan
she loved John Elway something fierce
her son & family are still Bronco fans

So while I have never had a favorite football team in my life
The Bronco's are my honorary football team that I root for

What is wrong with Madonna?
Isn't she getting a little too old for this sorta thing?

The rumor is she wants Miley to promote her daughter's new line of clothes so she's getting close to Miley to develop a friendship.

Its just starting to look a little sad to me.

I'll probably finish Breaking Bad this weekend
Only have 6 more episodes
breaking bad - canada
I'm a little sad about it
Need to find another series to watch

Orange is the New Black is one I keep hearing about - but that's just one season - right?

I may have to either do "The Walking Dead" or "Parenthood"
Could they be more opposite of each other?

I feel like Breaking Bad has me ready to watch Walking Dead
HOW is this stuff on regular cable?????

So I just used Spotify for the first time yesterday.

Mandisa had posted a playlist she created - that is awesome by the way-
& I went on there to check it out.

I'm not sure how this thing works, but I started creating Playlists myself
started following some Disney playlists
& of course Steven Curtis Chapman

Am I late to this party?
Anything I should know about it?

#ProjectThankful14 - Week 3

I always feel so accomplished on Thursday when I do 2 posts in a day
(3 if you count my Fitness blog... the link is above)

01.23.14 - Reminder

On Facebook Thursday, there was a Made to Crave get together with questions & projects to do to make the study even better.  We were told to put a red string around our wrist as a reminder.  For me, I keep it on now as a reminder that Jesus wants MORE for me

01.24.14 - Surgical success

Harvey on his way home from being neutered.  I was so worried & he didn't even act like anything was wrong... except this cone being on him
which only lasted 15 minutes

01.25.14 - Guilty Pleasures

I'm sorry.  The Originals is something I'm addicted to.
Elijah?  Something I'm totally addicted to.
No - I'm not a 13 yr old girl... but I can play one on TV

01.26.14 - Blog Friends

You think you can't develop friendships in blog-world?  You'd be wrong.
I had blog friends text me on Sunday checking on Harvey - giving me kind words of prayers.  Even had blog friends send me messages on Facebook checking in on my little fur-baby... it just makes me smile. Women I've never really met face to face, but I pray for them, know about them, their family, their struggles.  Ask them to pray for me, share with them.  There are some amazing people out there if you get to know them.

01.27.14 - No pain

Actually worked out on the treadmill & my knee nor back hurt
... its a rarity... so I'm VERY grateful when it happens

01.28.14 - New Scent

I've been with BirchBox for about a year & a half.  There are some times I really like the products enough to go buy them.  This perfume?  I am so excited to try it - I never had heard of it before.  Harvey Prince.  I may have been swayed by the name too.

01.29.14 - Accountability

I have a sweet friend that is doing the Made to Crave Bible Study as well.  We got through Chapter 4 this week that talks about accountability so we set up a private Facebook page where we can post our thoughts, our work outs, our food, our struggles, our successes.  I've never told any one my weight before - but with her, I've shared.  & I love there is no judgment, just encouragement.
Accountability CAN be a blessing.

What have you been thankful for this week?

Prowling around me? YIKES!

P31 OBS Blog Hop

We are into week 2 of our study... & I'm already feeling so much info being fed into my heart with the book, with the words of others on the site, & taking steps to try & APPLY what I'm learning.

We get a word (DETERMINIATION) & a scripture to focus on each week.  I actually have this scripture written down on paper & placed it at work - in my car - all around me so I can focus on it, memorize it... really see what it means to me...

The verse this week - 2 Peter 5:7-8

#CraveGod Week 2 1Peter 5:7

* Cast all your anxiety on him.... Anxiety makes me RUN... not walk... RUN to food & eating.  I need to get anxiety off of me. And I keep focusing on the word ALL.  Anxiety from work?  Put it on Jesus.  Anxiety over my bills?  He'll take it.  Anxiety over my frizzy hair?  Yep... anxiety is anxiety... ALL is ALL

This is what God wants us to do with our anxiety
... & its a way for me to know if you are a child of the 90's if you're singing this now :)

*... because he cares for you. ....  Come on. Isn't that comforting?  Something we all need to be reminded of?  I don't think I want to go through any day in my life & not feel like I'm not cared for.

Every day can be like a hug from Jesus... he cares...

* My version (niv) says "Be self-controlled & alert".... that version really speaks to me.  That's what this whole study is about for me.  Being self-controlled.  What that looks like.  I've been there before.  Its why I was a single digit dress size on my wedding day.  I guess as you get older, you forget.  I need to get that self control back.  Alert, as well.  I mean, I needed alarms to go off when I felt my pants getting tighter.  But I waited until I couldn't breath before I even really noticed.  Not so much on the alert side.

* Your enemy, the devil.... I love how it really classifies who the devil is to me & you... our enemy... don't ever forget that...

* prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.... OK - first of all, that's down right SCARY.  I'm not a big Animal Planet watcher when I know there is going to be an animal that is going to be attacked.  I know its nature - but I don't want to see it.  Its violent - its messy - it makes me nauseated & light headed...

Rosemary's Baby OMG
This is my reaction if I accidentally turn the TV on Animal Planet

& wait - the devil wants to do that to me?  Yeah... my enemy, for sure.

The other thing that always makes me think - the Bible refers to Jesus as the Lion many times... so I'm now knowing WHY I have to be alert... because we don't want our sneaky enemy to disguise himself as our friend who is Jesus... he's very sneaky like that.
Frightened
I'm going to be REALLY alert now....

I know the weekly verse doesn't include verse 9, but I have to look at the next 2 words of this scripture

RESIST HIM (vs 9)

Resist...
resist the sneaky ways of the devil
resist the urges to be lazy
resist the call of food when I'm anxious
RESIST!

A pretty good verse for week 2

Hodpodge... where I'll be positive & call myself a genius (not really)

Hodgepodge Time...

1. It's been said that one small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day?  Do you think that's true? Do you find that an easy exercise most mornings? What's something positive you told yourself this morning? If you missed that boat, what's something positive you could tell yourself tomorrow?

I think it can make a difference.  Sadly, most mornings, when I look in a mirror, I don't see anything positive.  especially the older I get...

This needs to be something I need to work on...

I'm usually just thinking, "Let's make it through the day" ... is that positive enough?

Even dogs do this better then me

2.  There will be karaoke at the next party you attend...are you in? Or will you be faking a sore throat?

I'm totally there...

Who cares I can't sing...

I don't care
I'll just sing with emotion :)

3. January 29th is National Puzzle Day...what's something you've found puzzling lately?

How I continue to work out at least 5 days a week... & keep gaining weight...
Its some sort of cruel joke my body does to me... right?

4. Jigsaw, crossword, acrostic, logic, sudoku, word search...what's your favorite, and when did you last work one?

I love mind games... I have done them all - except acrostic, which I had to google because I didn't even know what it was.  So much for MIND games that are supposed to make your mind better.

I literally do all the others like once a week.

I should be a genius.

I'm like Kanye when I work puzzles

5. Recently a writer by the name of Amy Glass ruffled feathers with a post she wrote saying she looks down on young women with husbands and kids and she's not sorry. Among other things she says women will be equal with men when we stop saying housework and real work are equally important.  You can read the whole piece by clicking here....... What say you? Do you think men and women are equal in the 21st century? Why or why not?

This is a topic I think people could write on for hours...

I'll just say, I work in a very, VERY male dominated office... & again, I'm taking the old idea, "if you can't say anything good, don't say it at all" route...

I'll just say, No - we're not equal in the 21st century...

6. What's a product you've noticed in the grocery store that you'd like to try, but haven't yet?

I want to try these new Starbucks Via Latte's...

I've heard mixed reviews...

7. The author, Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (aka Lewis Carroll) was born this week back in 1832 (January 27th). Which character from his celebrated novel, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, would you most like to meet, and why? Here's a link to the character list if you need help on this one.

Fun fact - my mom always loved Alice in Wonderland, so growing up, with my blond hair, I had many dresses that were very "Alice" like...

I would hang out with the Mad Hatter... the Johnny Depp version of course...

I can relate with being a little 'mad' in the head sometimes

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Have you ever heard of Pentatonix?  They were on "The Sing Off" one year & I have friends at church that keep up with them & totally love them....

They turned me back onto their amazing talents.  They do everything by voice only...

Check out the Wizard of Oz version they did... taking different songs & making them all come together to tell the story... incredible!

Items in the home...

I saw the question asking what your favorite thing was in your home....

My mind instantly goes through each area of the house.

Who doesn't love a Keurig?  I mean, I can make green tea in less then a minute & take it with me as I jet out of the door.

image
Fun fact:  Keurig is German for poop water

I love our couches in our living room.  We've had them since we moved to our home 13 years ago & probably need new ones, but I just love how beautiful they are, & comfy... reminders of visitors that have come over & sat on them & talked & laughed & shared good times on them.

My couch is perfect to do this on a hard day

I love my back massager in my rocking chair in my bedroom.  A great place to wind down a day & work out those kinks that have my shoulders tensed up to my ears.

Who doesn't love a good massage?

How can you leave out a washing machine & dryer?  You can't have dirty clothes... though jeans aren't considered dirty for at least 5 wears.  Its a rule.

Gotta love a treadmill... especially on zero degree days.  There's nothing like running outside & enjoying nature.  But there's also nothing like keeping your lungs from freezing over.  That never sounds like a good time.

Gym Dance
Walking outside is fun... but this is cooler!

Its not technically 'in' the house, but I always have said that my favorite place in the world is my front porch on a beautiful day, in the rocking chairs, with my dogs & a book... its a slice of heaven to me.

But yeah... my favorite item in my home?  Its gotta be anything that breaths :)  Husband, dogs... my family when they visit... A home isn't a home unless there's someone there to love & love you back.

We have more things with 4 legs that breath in our home then with 2 legs...
so this felt appropriate

....the only exception, when our home was swarmed with stink bugs.  THAT's the only deal breaker to that 'anything that breaths'

What's the first things you think of when you think of your favorite items in your home?

The weekend that was freezing... & then warm...

So yes, Harvey survived the neutering... William is still safely in momma's belly ... & Ricky made it through his MRI awaiting his results... so thanks for the thoughts & prayers Friday.

Highlights from the weekend

* I still laugh at dogs in the 'cone of shame'... that is until they ram you straight into the knee with the edge of it.

"What is this THING around my head?"

* The surgical nurse at the vet said she knew Harvey's name was "Harvey" but she said, "I kept calling him Harvey Dent because of his face & then I looked at his tag & saw that really was his name. I knew you were a good dog-parent" ... yes! :)

* All Harvey kept doing when we got home was lay just like this... think someone wanted to tell me how his day went?  Poor fellow.

Media preview

* The worst part of Harvey's experience? Trying to get him to not jump up on the bed, or run out in the snow & play... we gave up by Sunday.  He obviously wasn't in pain - his incision didn't look bad - he has no swelling.

* I am worried about today - they told me the 3rd & 4th days are the worst because the skin will grow back together & it causes itching.  It was the 4th day that Zoe tore open her intestines because of itching... I'll be nervous driving home today.

* The time had come.  I can't hardly knit anymore with my arm & I'm surrounded by yarn... it taunts me.  I went to box it up, but know I have so many knitting friends so put the call out to anyone that wanted yarn.  I've now got 5 orders of yarn going out to friends... glad for it to have a home.  I did keep about 5 projects I'm working on, but I suspect I wont even be able to get to those... unless a miracle happens with my arm... which I do believe can happen.

Media preview
The tote is full too
I'd hate to think how much money this is

* More snow... really?  I'm so sick of it

Dogs have to make fresh tracks ... AGAIN...
* The snow is even getting to the dogs... they took to using the bathroom right on the concrete of the porch & not going out any further out then they needed to.  Don't blame them.

* The wind was howling so bad Saturday... it gave me chills & made me cold just hearing it.

* I tried to get my long run in on my treadmill Saturday.  Right about 2.5 miles in, my stomach started cramping but I thought it would pass.  A few minutes later, I thought I was going to throw up.  I got chills.  Took off running upstairs & thought I was going to DIE.... not sure what happened.  It was horrible.

* Took a shower & ended up in bed the rest of the night... Breaking Bad marathon

* DO NOT watch 5 episodes of Breaking Bad & then go to sleep... the dreams you have are a little crazy

* Got up & ready for church & had those stomach cramps & nausea again... what in the world?  Ended up only going to youth only.  Call it energy from the kids, I felt OK the rest of the day

* I probably need to be a better leader.  A kid was telling me he passed out at the Winter Jam concert that had taken place on Friday.  (I wanted to go so badly but with Ricky's MRI & Harvey's surgery, knew we couldn't. )... so he told me his story of just blacking out... my reaction?  TELL ME EVERYTHING ABOUT COLTON DIXON!

* Met with a potential wedding client at a local coffee shop.  I told them I wanted a hot chocolate with a shot of espresso... trying to find a copy of the drink we had in Nashville.  When I asked for that, she said, "That's a mocha latte"... no its not.  It didn't taste anything like I wanted.  It tasted like a mocha latte.. not the REAL chocolate flavor of hot chocolate... bummed...

Bitch Please
How I looked when she said, "That's a Mocha Latte"

* Got my Valentine Swap goodies...cant wait to get them in the mail

* Sometimes, Target is stupid...
Not everyone marks things UP for a sale
Guess they gotta make money somewhere for the security screw up

* Freezing Saturday & it felt so WARM Sunday.  We live in a world where 42 degrees feels WARM!

* Didn't even catch anything from the Grammy's... watched the Bachelor wedding instead

I hope it works for them
Sean seems pretty awesome

* I've never seen a wedding more focused on the 'wedding night' more in my life... kinda uncomfortable & awkward

* If you didn't know - Sean's sister, Shay,  has a blog & is awesome with it... I was watching her Instagram all day for behind the scene pictures of the wedding all day long.
http://shullfamily.blogspot.com/

* Had to watch Downton before I went to bed... I love Mr. Bates.  Just love him.  "You're breaking my heart" ... oh. my heart.

Onto a new week.....
