Got worries?

My butt was up early Saturday running that 5k... I mentioned before, I ran my personal best - which I found out later, still really sucked compared to others... sigh... so that let out some air in my personal best balloon I was carrying...

Then from there, it just seemed like everything started going downhill....

I got the mail & what do I find in it?  Jury Duty summons... oh no... not now... I've got tons of work, not to mention plans on going to Texas soon.  And the summons is for the time period of April, May & June... what the heck?  What happened to a 2 week time period?!?!?!

Add in that my car is growling at me - seriously, its like something out of a horror movie!  It will shake & feel like its possessed & ready to shake to pieces.... I just keep turning it off & on until its fine.  Ignoring that its doing the monstrous things seems to be my own skill in car repair.

Then add in that I got no sleep over night... my inner thigh that I pulled (tore?) last year while training for the mini is aggravated again & I literally was woken up with the pain.  There was NOOOO soothing it either.  So I woke up frustrated for the lack of sleep I had, plus, aggravated because the 10K is less then two weeks & today, I'm supposed to be running 5 miles.  I cant deal with this inner thigh thing again... & I dont have time to go to a doc to check it out & see what they say... the 10K is in 10 days!

Add to it all the building up of the fear of flying... the little things that are always in someone's life (work, laundry, dogs that need groomed) ... yeah, I feel like my stress level is at a 11 on a scale of 1-10...

(yeah - I actually had a good laugh when I found this picture... that a RED HEAD lady worrying about her dogs & a plane)

And then, darn it... that sneaky God reminds me again on what He wants me to know... the scripture that was preached on just YESTERDAY (how quickly we forget)...
Phlippians 4:6-7

Don't fret or worry.  Instead of worrying, pray!  Let petitions & praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns.  Before you know it, a sense of God's wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come & settle you down.  It's wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

Ok God... I get it... stop worrying... It'll all come together - right?  Why wouldn't I believe that?  It always has come together in the past...

Just waiting for that worry to be displaced ... anxious to see how a messed up inner thigh & jury duty is going to come together... but I have faith it will...somehow... that is the awesomeness of God....

And I once again realize, these "worries" - these problems... they are nothing compared to what others are going through.... they are tiny little blips on a scale of worries....

But just in case you have something to worry about yourself - big or small... I know that God cares about them ALL... so hope this scripture blesses you in whatever way you need it - to know that those worries, all of them are going to be come together for good!

  2. The best thing about running is competing against yourself and trying to beat your own time, and you did that! Don't worry about people running 7-minute miles...that's just crazy! (At least, that's what I tell myself.)

Jury duty?! Ahhh! What awful timing. Hopefully you won't get picked to serve.

Hakuna matata, right? C'mon, I know you're a Disney fan!

  3. I second what Amy said...I am very proud of you for what you've accomplished! I really needed this reminder today! My life is so stressful right now. I feel like a "single" mom with Chris on the road 4 nights of almost every week. It's easy to fall into that whole "pity party" scene. I'm going to turn it over to God and keep trusting Him to see us through...and I KNOW He will!:)

  4. I LOVE the fact that we are both slow runners, and we obviously run a very similar pace! Wish you lived closer, we could meet up and run together occasionally! We (especially me) gotta keep reminding ourselves that what we are doing is awesome regardless of our pace. Whenever I get like this, I try to remind myself of all the people that can't run at all. And so I try to run for them in my head. To be grateful that I CAN run. So THANK you for reminding me of this!!

And I needed that lesson on worrying this morning! I am a WORRY WART!

  6. You have no idea how I needed this today!!!

With our wedding in 12 weeks, I am having a hard time wrapping my head around what it will feel like during the ceremony. It's odd, but it reminds me of when I had my wisdom teeth out. I was a wreck and then it happened and I was fine. Worried for nothing. Same with what it will feel like to be at the front of all my family. Nervous? Scared? Will I be able to look my guy in the eye? Will I be a wreck? AHHH! I just want to know, but don't know because I've never done this.

So to read your quote--that made me say "OK!" : )

  10. Here's another good verse for you. Isaiah 41:13

That's right. Because I, your God,have a firm grip on you and I'm not letting go. I'm telling you, 'Don't panic. I'm right here to help you.'

    Is that cool or what!

Congrats on the run! I'm currently battling a torn meniscus so I celebrate successfully limping down the hall and back! The day that I can run, at any speed, will be cause for celebration indeed!

Call the doctor about the leg issue! The next 2 weeks is going to pass whether you call or not and they may be able to do something to help you!

Jury duty ... yuck! Especially having to be available 3 months at a time. I think you can call to reschedule if your travel plans were already in place.

Keep praying over that rickety car! The God who kept the widow's oil jug full is still in business. :)

  12. I think you did a great job on your run. Don't compare yourself to others. You are unique and special just how your are and however you run!

I just got done with jury duty a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't too bad this time. They let all of us go after just a couple of hours.
