I've drank the Kool-Aid...

...or the Hot Chocolate, in this case.

During Christmas, I was walking around Bed, Bath & Beyond & they had a line going down a whole aisle.  I looked to find what was going on, only to see there was a Keurig machine & they were fixing people cups of coffee, teas or hot chocolates... right there in the middle of the store.

I picked me up some hot chocolate & handed the lady my cup.  In a few minutes, I was walking away with my hot, steaming cup... but my mind was stuck back with that machine.

I've been wanting one ever since.

Then I got a 30% off at Kohls & the Keurig's were on sale... was this a sign from my beverage guardian angel?  The same one who is trying to sway me from all things Diet Coke?

So I post a question on Facebook.... "Keurig?  Yes or no?" ....

My phone went off like it was being shot up... instant reactions... & a resounding YES!

The world has spoken... & I listened... I went & ordered my Keurig right then and there.

Here's my new baby....

So now, I need the low-down on all things Keurig.

What are the best drinks?  I'm not a coffee drinker, but I do love teas & hot chocolates.  I already got a hint about the Chai Tea which I have a new found love for.
Where can you get the cups for the cheapest price?
What are some tips on the machine?  Anything I need to know?

If you all are like my Facebook friends, then I know y'all got one too - so spill the info on it...

My Beverage Guardian Angel thanks you :)

  1. I don't have one, and I was the only one who cautioned you to think about the environmental impact. Shame on me, eh?

  3. Ooh...my hubby would be so jealous! That's one thing he's been wanting for a long time now. I know people who have them and they don't know how they ever survived without it.

  5. YES! But buy you some EkoBrews from Amazon. They are little reusable "K-cups" so that you can buy your own ground coffee & not just have to buy K-cups - which not only are costly but are not recyclable either. Also, you'll have to clean the Keurig about twice a year with white vinegar otherwise it will stop pumping water which means no morning coffee if you don't stay ahead of the potential problem - I speak from experience. The bigget complaints I've heard about the Keurig always come down to folks not cleaning it with vinegar often enough. So as long as you know you'll have to/need to clean it out every so often - then your Keurig will work like a champ!
We love our Keurig - very easy to use, makes a great cuppa & is cool looking to boot!

  6. My friend Tracy has one and loves it. She just bought a k-cup that was half tea, half lemonade. She thought it would be odd drinking "hot lemonade" but she LOVES IT!!

    Good luck!

  7. Look at you, all modern and all!
Your machine is just like mine. We're twins!
But, I'm a coffee drinker for sure. I order my from a local office supply store called Phillips. Buyphillips.com. Maybe they have a local one near you. Anyway, my coffee comes in at around $.58 a unit.
    Cheers!

  10. I alternate between Kohls (when they're on sale and I have 30% off), Target, Amazon, but I mostly buy mine at Sam's club. I only drink the coffee, though. Keep an eye out for coupons in the Sunday paper and sales at your local grocery...I have gotten a box for $5 with that strategy.

Congratulations on joining the K-Club! :)

ps. Is Julie finally moving closer to you?

  11. I have one but I haven't drank coffee in about a year. I still use it for my chai at home and hubby takes it with him to his small group every Monday haha. I buy my k cups on Amazon, but I also have one of those reusable "k-cups" that's plastic with a flip top lid and you can use your own ground coffee that way. Here's the link to the one I have.

  12. My dad has one that Mike uses when we visit (he likes stronger coffee). I've used it for hot chocolate - I put about 1/4 cup of vanilla soy milk in it & oh man the deliciousness!
