Friday Five Favorites

Like that title?  It takes care of 2 birds with one stone... doing a Five on Friday but still incorporating my favorite things.  This is how to blend two things into one magical post.

1. Favorite Post:  The Florkens "Why we aren't buying gifts this Christmas"

Find the post right HERE

I hate sometimes how out of hand Christmas can get with gift buying.  People think we're joking when we say we spend thousands on Christmas.  THOUSANDS. Do you know how many different ways that could be used in a more helpful way instead of gifts that I'm sure next year, no one will even remember?  It aggravates me so bad sometimes... so I love these two for this post.

2. Favorite Recipe: Pumpkin Pie

Pumpkin Pie Recipe

Recipe is right HERE
This is the pie I made for Thanksgiving that didn't involve sugar.  It is so yummy.  I love that she gives you options too with your spice & your thickness of the pie. I wanted a thicker pie so I used less evaporated milk as well.  I seriously want to make another one of these this weekend just because.  Well, I do have cool whip left over so it needs SOMETHING to be eaten with it...

3. Favorite Christmas Craft Gift
9 Fun DIY Christmas Projects for the Family

Aren't these the cutest!?!?!  & who doesn't love candy?  These would be great to make a few extras just to hand out to people for a quick gift... or leave for like the mailman or to give to a cashier on a busy day.

4. Favorite Funnies

Cannot Unsee It

My reaction when my managers try to tell me how awesome the new office is:
Whitney Bitch Please

How I feel when I think of all the Christmas wrapping I have to do:

Kill Me

5. Favorite Video: All is Well

My goodness, Carrie Underwood is just all things adorable with that baby bump. & that bump doesn't affect her voice one bit. It's angelic.  Add in one of the all time fav Christian recording artist/writers, Michael W. Smith (who still is a notch behind my Steven Curtis Chapman) ... this just gives me goose bumps.

What are some of your favorite things this week?

  1. 6 year old sister in law? Please tell me that I'm not the only one who caught that and for whom it overshadows the whole little arm and little legs thing?

  2. Girl, I'm telling you: use bags for gifts this year! Most of mine were bagged except for the ones for my nieces and nephew because they're kids and love ripping shit open. haha

  6. My husband shamed me into starting to wrap gifts yesterday. When it was just me, I waited until the last minute, panicked, and wrapped things in newspaper or grocery bags! Now I look like I actually know what I'm doing but it's all him :)

  7. BAHAHA that Colonel funny is great - it's so true, you can't unsee it! Thanks for sharing that post on gift giving too. Even more than just the money, she is so right about gifting getting so competitive!!

  9. We are buying ourselves one big gift this year. Every year our gifts get a little more practical but even more awesome. As for the rest of the family, I don't expect a lot of gifts and I am not sending many, and I am perfectly okay with that. I feel bad if they send me something and I didn't send anything.

  11. Haha I'm with Kathy - the six year old 'sister in law' threw me for a loop, too! But now I definitely can't unsee the small arms and legs - that is actually hilarious. Happy weekend! :)

  13. Amen to the gift giving! I thought I would miss giving gifts but it's been really nice not having to stress about it. 100% agree with your statement about how the money could be used. Love the little candy sleighs! Hope you have a great weekend!

  14. wrapping presents is my least fave holiday thing. i'm so awful at it and have no patience. my mom doesn't allow bags (we only shop for the grandbabies) so she wants the kids to have something to rip into. craziness.
