Let me preface this by saying, I'm NOT a huge Christina Aguilera fan...
"Genie in a Bottle" always got on my nerves...
But I do get my RUN on with the song "Fighter" ...
Either way, I can take her or leave her.
But COME ON... I heard on the radio this morning that the polls said that Christina Aguilera RUINED the National Anthem.
It was all over the news & every entertainment program last night too. The four word... yes people, it was 4 WORDS!!!!... she messed up... apparently RUINED the whole thing.
I said yesterday that I didnt even notice it. I saw in my comments yesterday that a lot of you didnt notice it either. I would almost think more people DIDNT notice it that did!
But now, Ms. Aguilera is getting so slammed down. I feel bad for her...
She even had to issue a statement:
"I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place. I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through"
Does anyone remember Roseanne Barr? Now there's someone who should be the face of "Ruining" the National Anthem....
I know when you put yourself out in the public eye, you are putting yourself out for criticism & judgement... but man, people are harsh, arent they?
Grace? What's that? Someone to step up & say, "You know what? She messed up - but she carried on. Life didnt stop... no one died... its OK' ... but instead, today, I have a feeling people will still be pushing down the lady because of a 4 word mistake...
whew... all I kept thinking this morning is how grateful I am that people dont judge me in the end... & that I dont have to issue a "statement" for every screw up I did.... that'd be a long statement...
I am so with you on this one.
ReplyDeleteGive the girl a break. Sure, she messed up. But she noticed it, admitted to it, apologized for it...can't we just let it be?
Yep, I'm glad I'm not living in the public eye, either!
Your last line was hilarious about the statement! LOL!!! :o) Yeah, I missed it, but I saw something about it on the net. Still, I had no idea that it was such a big deal.
ReplyDeleteBoy you are so right about Rosanne Barr - what. a. mess! I didn't hear the anthem so I didn't really know what the brouhaha was - but then I read it was just one line she messed up. For heaven's sake!
ReplyDeleteOk so I am not a C.A. fan either, but I don't think she ruined the National Anthem. She didn't do great, but RUIN? That's harsh.
ReplyDeleteGirl friend there is not enough paper to hold the "statements) for all my mess-ups. It would take ALL the trees!!
Love you friend ~~ looking forward to "seeing" you tonight.
Have a Blessed day,
Dawn
I agree. We all make mistakes. Do I think she ruined the song? No. A little over the top with her "intrepretation"? Yes.
ReplyDeleteBut ruined? no.
You are so right, Rebecca...sorry if I judged her in a harsh way. Yes, Rosanne Barr was like listening to nails on a chalkboard...EEEWWW!!!
ReplyDeleteTOTALLY agree!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see all the people condemning her try to sing it half as well as she did!!
ReplyDeleteWell said, my friend. I didn't see it, but I've been wondering what all the fuss was about. I mean she messed up. We all do in this life. I would guess YouTube is full of people messing up the Anthem. They need to let the poor girl alone.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more!! I didn't watch the SB so I obviously didn't see the mistake, but I love what you said about being gracious to others. And you are absolutely right about Rosanne Barr.
ReplyDeleteI did not know she did it until I saw it on t.v. They showed the words she said and then the words that were suppose to be said. I did not know it at all. I think we all make mistakes and they should leave her alone. She did not do a bad job. Uh Roseanne Bar did though..
ReplyDeleteAlyce got ice cream today.. Smiles..
Have a great day..
Will I Am (or whatever his name is) just blew it off when he was asked about it. It happens. Get over it and move on!
ReplyDeleteI agree completely.
ReplyDeleteIt would not be a pretty thing for me to have to make a statement about all the mess-ups I have made. Ouch!
