Six Word Saturday: Pap's Funeral

Pap's Military Funeral made me proud....

Yesterday was Papaw's funeral....

I had never been to a military funeral before...

I said before, I thought it was appropriate he passed away on Memorial Day with him being a World War II Veteran.

But when the young man from the Army came & saluted behind his casket while the other gentleman played, "TAPS"... just powerful...

& then the folding of the flag.... the honor they gave it.

When one would hold the flag while the other saluted... & then they exchanged places & saluted the flag...

& then presenting one to each of the sons...

Just powerful... no other word.

It made me proud of my Papaw for fighting for our country....

If you have someone in your family that is in the military... give them a hug & let them know that so many are proud of the work they do...

  3. My husband was an army chaplain for over a decade. These scenes are very familiar to him but still touched his heart.

  8. I have never been to a military funeral but both my grandfather & my Dad will have military funerals when they pass away (which I pray isn't for a very long time!). Love the photos and the beauty captured in each of them. I've been praying for you & your family. Thanks for sharing this tribute.

  12. What an amazing thing to a part of. I wished I had been alive when my grandfather passed away. He would have (or should have) had a military funeral as well. As strange as it sounds, I would have loved to have seen in. It reminds you of the service they gave to their country, and how much we should honor our solders. I am still praying for you daily and your family! I hope the Lord brings you some comfort(and some air conditioning ...sorry, had to make you smile:) ) Love ya!!
