A Chiseled Knitter, Steel Magnolias reference & a real voice .... {Thankful Thursday #71}

This week I am THANKFUL for:
(The numbers go with my journal for One Thousand Gifts... in other words, ignore them)

396 / a clean kitchen. Isn't it so nice to come home or wake up to a clear counter top & a sparkling, empty sink?  Its the little things that make me happy some days.

397 / Harvey & his playfulness.  Wednesday, it was raining when I got home so Harvey didn't get his 'frisbee time' so his energy was all pent up.  He was so playful all night long & just the funniest thing trying to get our attention & make us play with him. He brings such joy to our world.

Harvey dent:
This is his "stop taking my stupid picture & throw the frisbee" look

399 / Partner in workout.  I am so excited to start Hammer & Chisel - a 60 day workout program that is about toning & leaning out.  I'm even more excited that my buddy Mrs. AuburnChick  (not sure if she wants her real name out there) is doing it with me.  She just finished up a program & we agreed to do this one together.  She did start a few days ahead of me because I want my rest day on Sunday, so she's my guide on what's ahead.  But its been nice to check in with each other & see what we think, how we feel, how its going.  We even started our own hashtag #chisseledknitters so we can keep each other accountable - isn't that fun?  Yep - she's an amazing knitter.  The 2 of us?  We'll be PUMPING the knitting needles at the end of this.

400 / A message from a blog-buddy about a half marathon.  I got a Direct message the other day from one of my blog buddies, Ashley that told me that I inspired her to take a new step & she signed up for a half marathon!  She's been following my journey & she's ready to experience it herself. That just makes me so happy for her.  Thankful for friends that support me throughout my experience & thankful that I could some how inspire someone to push themselves to new limits.  I can't wait to see how she does & I'll be following her training & I'll be her biggest fan, rooting her on in the Fall when she goes for that finish line.

401 / Off work early on Friday! that just meant I was earlier to Starbucks! That probably confused all my familiar face baristas, me coming in at 2 instead of 4:30 :)  I think every Friday should be like that. What's it going to hurt to let us get a 2 hour jump on the weekend?

Friday / thankful:

403 / Beautiful rose.  All the ladies at work got a little flower for Mother's Day.  Isn't it the most beautiful color? I kept saying it was the most BLUSH rose I've ever seen... which only made me think of Steel Magnolias.

Thankful:

404 / I slept in to 8:30 on Saturday.  Hallelujah. Praise Jesus. It was heavenly.

405 / Etsy store up & running.  & again, a huge thankful for all the amazing people that have sent me notes of well wishes & people sharing the store on Facebook & just being full of encouragement.  It's like I've said - I can't just 'sit' down - I've always got some sort of yarn in my hands & then I just toss things in a tote that get tucked away, so if I sell one thing? I'd be THRILLED.

408 / Mother's Day full of Mothers.  I am thankful that I am blessed with my momma & my mother in Law.  I know Mother's Day is hard for so many reasons for people (me included) but I do realize how blessed I am that I still have these 2 women in my life.

Ricky & my momma in law

411 / Thoughtful family with my food choices.  I am so grateful that my family thinks of me when we have get togethers with food & remembering I dont eat meat. My sister in law made lasagna for everyone & made me my own dish of manicotti.  I know that takes time & effort & I so appreciate it.

412.  New Coloring book from my daddy.  Yes, I am 44 years old & I get excited with my dad gets me a coloring book.

Gift:

413 / SPOKE TO MY FRIEND LAUREN!!!!!! ... I have been blogging for a LONGGGGG time people. Like 8 years long.  (That's long in blog world) & I have 'known' my blog friend Lauren since probably near the beginning.  We have developed such a friendship.  Texts, emails - LOTS of emails. Like a daily email thing.  Talks of politics, TV, opinions, daily entertainment, more TV, God - just a great friendship.  & though we had each other's cell numbers & always text, we never actually talked.  Until Monday.  When she called me. I saw her number pop up when it rang & I screamed so loud, Ricky came running thinking I hurt myself.  We ended up talking over an hour... it was such a blessing hearing her sweet voice with my own ears.  Just love that girl. & keeping fingers crossed she's coming back to the blog world herself. She's on an amazing journey right now in her life.

When my phone rang & I saw LAUREN on my screen

414 / New Race pic. I went to show Ricky the pictures from the half marathon & what a fun surprise - there was a new one on the board that hadn't been there like the week before - much less an hour before - it was like it just popped up. Great. Now I have another one to narrow down to order.

Race:

415 / Found my long lost tank top.  I bought this tank top a few years ago because that verse from 2 Timothy is special to our Wood family. It's what is on my grandparent's head stone.  It's like a family life verse.  & I got the tank top - & truth be told, it was so tight, I could barely wear it (side note - why do they make workout stuff SO FREAKIN' SMALL?) - so I stuffed it in the back of a drawer & actually forgot about it.  & then this week, I found it again!  YES!  & even better? IT FITS!  I'm so happy to have it back in my hands... or I should say, on my back.

Tank:

So its been another week full of blessings...

How about you?
What blessings have you seen in your life this week?

  1. The best part about finding your shirt is that it fits! Isn't that the best feeling? Good luck with your Etsy store.

  7. I love pretty much all of these! 2 extra hours on a Friday is so great! And I love that you've got a H&C workout buddy, because some days I wish I had a workout buddy myself, one that was always doing the thing that I was doing to keep my butt in gear.

And, bless my Momma's heart. My uncle is vegetarian-ish. Like he is, until he sees something with meat that he thinks would be tasty & then he's not...anyways, she always goes out of her way to make things vegetarian for him to eat. Though I often have to remind her that it's not vegetarian if you cook it all in bacon grease. Which is probably why vegetarians think my Mom's vegetables are the best tasting.

  8. That's so cool that you inspired someone to run their first half marathon! I trained with two friends for their first half marathon this past Winter and it was a great experience. Of course, it's not selfless since I now have training buddies :)

  14. I absolutely love that you and "Miss Auburn Chick" have become workout partners! You two are amazing and you can bet that I'm cheering you both on! How fun to be able to talk for an hour with another of your blog friends...love that! The same happened to me a little over a year ago and it was such fun hearing her voice! I, too, have been blogging for 8 years now...hard to believe!

  15. Yay, race pics! One of my favorite things is looking for the pics after we finish a race/course. I also got a new coloring book this week and need to get into it. Hopefully I will have some time next week since I'll be done with work soon.

  16. So fun you got to talk to your friend Lauren!!

I love a clean kitchen too. I've been super good this week about cleaning everything up before bed instead of in the morning, and I love going to bed and waking up to a perfectly clean kitchen!

  17. If I come down to a clean kitchen in the morning I feel like it just sets my day up right. It's bound to go well after that! And that picture of you and Ricky is awesome. If in doubt, get more than one I say. Such a special memory to treasure :)
