The weekend that we celebrated horses & moms ...

Ever have a weekend that felt like it rushed by, but that went slow...
Or you did so little, but also felt like you did so much...
Or that had you joyful one minute & then totally mentally exhausted the next?

None of that makes any sense really - but that's how my weekend felt... topsy turvy...

Here's some quick highlights

Friday

... Got off work at 1:00pm - YAHOO!!!! I actually go to lunch at 1 so I really only got off 2 hours early - but I'll take 2 hours off work ANY TIME.  I work like a mile & a half from Churchill Downs & it was CRAZY traffic around us with the Oaks happening so we got to escape before it got really nuts.

... It was such a beautiful afternoon & being home early - what's a girl to do?  I took my book & sat outside & read for those 2 hours.

Friday:

... Watched The Oaks from the comfort of my kitchen & my horse won! I totally picked Catherine Sophia.  Fun fact - I always said if I had a daughter, her name would be Katherine Chandler (you are my best friend in the world if you know who that is) so I had to go with a horse that has Catherine as the name & Sophia - one of my twin nieces name.  A total winner.

... Ricky & I ended Friday by doing another Super Hero DVR cleanse.  A few Arrow's (caught up) & another Flash (1 behind now) ... don't get us started on Legends of Tomorrow - I think we're like 11 behind on that one. YIKES!

Saturday

... Poor Ricky. He had to work.  Saturday just ain't Saturday when he has to work.

... Spent my usual Saturday morning Bible Journaling.  I so look forward to this time every weekend.  It really is a process that takes time & space. I pretty much trash the kitchen table every Saturday. & what you can't see? I have 3 small totes on the floor that is holding templates & stickers & paint & brushes... I basically need a whole room for this.

Saturday:

... It's Derby Day! ... I always love watching the Derby coverage all day on TV.  & I know people come from everywhere & that people want to at least do the Derby once in their life.  I live right by it & have no desire to go.  Another Fun Fact - I won tickets to go one year - like MEDIA TENT go - like food & restroom readily available - on the first turn of the track - PRIMO seats.  I didn't go. Ricky & his best friend went instead.  I'll watch everyone's beautiful outfits & hats from the comfort of my home while I'm sitting in a top knot & running shorts.  #whoIam

... Finally got my Etsy store open!  It took me awhile to get pictures going & to get a few things up - I still have quite a few more things to put on the site - but I wanted to get it rolling & just want to see how this goes. Its like I told Ricky, I'm constantly making things 'just because' - I can't just SIT. I always have to have something in my hands - & then it always gets tossed in a tote for whenever or whatever - most things dont even get used.  So why not see if I can share the fiber love somehow? :) Wish me luck

Sunday

... MOTHER'S DAY!!!  That just sums up the whole day.  Going to visit my momma & then going out to visit my Mother in Law - it keeps ya busy.  So thankful to have my momma's to go visit & spend some time with.

Ricky with his momma & sisters .. .love my Vincent family
... I'm such a failure. I really didn't pull out my camera all day long & get any pictures.  Thank goodness my SIL Sherry got the picture above of their group. I know the value of pictures & hate I missed out on taking some with my mom.  Guess I'll have to take 100 more pictures in the next few weeks to make up for it ;) (I do love a good picture)

How was your weekend?

Did you do anything for Derby?

Have a good Mother's Day?

  4. I've always thought it would be fun to go to the Kentucky Derby! Is a big hat a requirement? ..lol

I joked with my mom that while all the other moms were having a relaxing day, I made her walk 5 miles to find my phone. We definitely spent quality time together that day.

Hey, since you are going to knit things just for fun, I totally think you should make those mermaid blankets and try to sell them.

  7. I know just what you mean -- the weekend was so busy but I don't think I did anything. I'm bummed that I didn't get any photos of my mama this weekend either. And the one someone took of Matt and me with the kids yesterday -- looks like we should be in a police lineup. Yuck ...

Did you see that the Arrow was in town for the Derby? He posted a photo at one of the bowling alleys at 4th St Live.

Yay for your Etsy store! How exciting! :)

I'd be all in with a big hat if someone gave me tix to the media tent! Glad you had a nice weekend...good luck with your shop!
