The weekend that we celebrated horses & moms ...

Ever have a weekend that felt like it rushed by, but that went slow...
Or you did so little, but also felt like you did so much...
Or that had you joyful one minute & then totally mentally exhausted the next?

None of that makes any sense really - but that's how my weekend felt... topsy turvy...

Here's some quick highlights

... Got off work at 1:00pm - YAHOO!!!! I actually go to lunch at 1 so I really only got off 2 hours early - but I'll take 2 hours off work ANY TIME.  I work like a mile & a half from Churchill Downs & it was CRAZY traffic around us with the Oaks happening so we got to escape before it got really nuts.

... It was such a beautiful afternoon & being home early - what's a girl to do?  I took my book & sat outside & read for those 2 hours.

... Watched The Oaks from the comfort of my kitchen & my horse won! I totally picked Catherine Sophia.  Fun fact - I always said if I had a daughter, her name would be Katherine Chandler (you are my best friend in the world if you know who that is) so I had to go with a horse that has Catherine as the name & Sophia - one of my twin nieces name.  A total winner.

... Ricky & I ended Friday by doing another Super Hero DVR cleanse.  A few Arrow's (caught up) & another Flash (1 behind now) ... don't get us started on Legends of Tomorrow - I think we're like 11 behind on that one. YIKES!

... Poor Ricky. He had to work.  Saturday just ain't Saturday when he has to work.

... Spent my usual Saturday morning Bible Journaling.  I so look forward to this time every weekend.  It really is a process that takes time & space. I pretty much trash the kitchen table every Saturday. & what you can't see? I have 3 small totes on the floor that is holding templates & stickers & paint & brushes... I basically need a whole room for this.

... It's Derby Day! ... I always love watching the Derby coverage all day on TV.  & I know people come from everywhere & that people want to at least do the Derby once in their life.  I live right by it & have no desire to go.  Another Fun Fact - I won tickets to go one year - like MEDIA TENT go - like food & restroom readily available - on the first turn of the track - PRIMO seats.  I didn't go. Ricky & his best friend went instead.  I'll watch everyone's beautiful outfits & hats from the comfort of my home while I'm sitting in a top knot & running shorts.  #whoIam

... Finally got my Etsy store open!  It took me awhile to get pictures going & to get a few things up - I still have quite a few more things to put on the site - but I wanted to get it rolling & just want to see how this goes. Its like I told Ricky, I'm constantly making things 'just because' - I can't just SIT. I always have to have something in my hands - & then it always gets tossed in a tote for whenever or whatever - most things dont even get used.  So why not see if I can share the fiber love somehow? :) Wish me luck

... MOTHER'S DAY!!!  That just sums up the whole day.  Going to visit my momma & then going out to visit my Mother in Law - it keeps ya busy.  So thankful to have my momma's to go visit & spend some time with.

Ricky with his momma & sisters .. .love my Vincent family
... I'm such a failure. I really didn't pull out my camera all day long & get any pictures.  Thank goodness my SIL Sherry got the picture above of their group. I know the value of pictures & hate I missed out on taking some with my mom.  Guess I'll have to take 100 more pictures in the next few weeks to make up for it ;) (I do love a good picture)

How was your weekend?

Did you do anything for Derby?

Have a good Mother's Day?

  1. Ahh, reading outside in the sunshine is so nice and relaxing! I may just have to do that later today! :)

  2. You are the cutest little model and I am SO excited to shop your etsy shop!! Ahh! I can't wait!
I definitely understand your feeling about the weekend- mine was insane!

  3. I miss derby parties - definitely not something we have in Colorado!

  4. I've always thought it would be fun to go to the Kentucky Derby! Is a big hat a requirement?

I joked with my mom that while all the other moms were having a relaxing day, I made her walk 5 miles to find my phone. We definitely spent quality time together that day.

Hey, since you are going to knit things just for fun, I totally think you should make those mermaid blankets and try to sell them.

  5. Congrats on opening your etsy store, that's so exciting!!

  6. Oh my gosh cant believe you gave those tickets up one year - the derby is totally on my list of things to do! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  7. I know just what you mean -- the weekend was so busy but I don't think I did anything. I'm bummed that I didn't get any photos of my mama this weekend either. And the one someone took of Matt and me with the kids yesterday -- looks like we should be in a police lineup. Yuck ...

Did you see that the Arrow was in town for the Derby? He posted a photo at one of the bowling alleys at 4th St Live.

Yay for your Etsy store! How exciting! :)

  8. Yay for opening your Etsy shop- that is so exciting! I don't know if you've already done a post like this, but you should totally do one on your bible journal & supplies- I love seeing all of your pages- they always turn out so good.

  9. Congrats again on your store. You are super-woman!!

Sitting out on the patio, especially when they weather is so good is really the best!!!

  10. Well if we're talking Y & R then we're best friends : ) I missed the Derby. We were out on the lake with friends, which was a lot of fun but I do like to see the race. I'd be all in with a big hat if someone gave me tix to the media tent! Glad you had a nice weekend...good luck with your shop!

  11. Reading outside is a major preferred activity of mine.

I don't think I'd want to do the Derby either...way crowded!

Congrats on getting your Etsy shop up! I added you as a favorite!

  12. So glad you got your shop open and I hope you sell lots!!

  13. Hi my friend!! So glad you got your shop opened. Congrats!!! I can totally relate to your feelings about the weekend-I was so busy preparing for hosting mother's day I didn't get to see the Derby. I love reading outside, but it's been rainy and windy. Glad you had good weather. Have a super week!!

  14. Well, I live 40 minutes from Disney and we never go...just sayin' (I understand). I have no desire to go to the Derby. Not a crowd person. I loved visiting your Etsy Shop!! You have some very cute things there!

  15. Congrats on getting your Etsy shop up!!! Look at you getting off early on Friday, lucky!!!! I think the derby sounds fun in theory but I hate crowds so I would never go haha. Yay for picking the winner!

  16. Congratulations on your Etsy shop!! I know it's going to do fabulous! I was at a volunteer event all day on Saturday and missed the Derby which was a bummer. It's high on my bucket list to make it down there one year!

  17. Congrats on starting your Etsy shop! I love Etsy. I can't wait to check it out. The screenshot you posted looks great!

  18. I just got finish sharing two links of your items in your etsy show with my mom. My birthday is in June. June is winter here. My mom just asked me if there was anything I wanted her to send me in a care package. Voila! A scarf & slouch hat from RebeccaJoKnits...please & thank you! Now, let's hope my mom pulls through :)

  22. Yay, congrats on opening your etsy store! I haven't watched any superhero tv shows lol. I love the movies, and I want to watch the shows sometime but probably all at once cause that's how I usually watch.

  23. Oh yay you got your etsy store open for business, I'm going to hop on over there! I'm so jealous you live so close to the track! One day I'll be there and I'm gonna have my hat on too! :)

  24. You are always so busy. Where do you get all of your energy? I did watch the race. I'm heading over to check out your Etsy shop.
