Superfood, Summer clearances & Knitting with dog hair??? ... Thankful Thursday #83

This week I am Thankful For:
(the numbers go with my One-Thousand Gifts Journal - so just ignore them)

679 / Good neighbors. How many times can I say this, right? Over & over .. that's the answer. Because we have been continually reminded how blessed we are.  We look out this week & see our grass was cut once again.  Something Ricky didn't have to worry about getting taken care of while he's still recovering.  I can't begin to put in words how much this has helped us.  & I've reminded Ricky if he ever needs another surgery, to make sure its not in summer :)

680 / Doggie Combs. I love combing out Harvey Dent & all his fluffy hair.  Mainly because he's shedding like a dandelion blowing in the wind. It's just falling off of him in clumps.  I told him last night he dropped his child after a clump the size of a puppy fell off of him.  I gotta get him an appointment to get shaved down.  But his hair is so silky & pretty.  ... I love combing him though & Harvey is such a good boy & just sits & stays the entire time. He must love it too.

OHHHHH MYYYY GOSSSHHHHH
look what I found!!! haha!!!

681 / Hillsong United.  Amazing concert.  Blessed to be there with friends.

682 / New knee brace.  I told Ricky, I'll buy & try them all.  This new one really is a good compression around the knee but it also keeps my knee HOT which is supposed to keep the muscles flexible while working out. Let me tell you - when they say HOT, they mean HOTTTTTT. I feel like there's a little fire in that baby some nights.

684 / Clearance summer shoes. Anyone else stocking up on sandals for next year?  I am loving seeing all the summer shoes marked down. I just got the cutest pair at Target for $6.98 this weekend.  I love shoes but I think 95% of my shoes are from clearance sales the season before.  All except my running shoes. Ricky only WISHED my running shoes were clearance priced.

687 / Seeing my past bride & groom & meeting their new son.  Seeing people transition from bride & groom to mom & dad?  Just the best.

689 / Praying for my friends.  I was so blessed when we went to our friend's daughters birthday & they asked if I would pray before the food was served.  That was such an honor for me.  Truly.  I just love their little family so much.

691 / MSM Kick off.  So the Middle School Ministry at church kicked off our season this past Sunday. I am so excited to get to know these kids better this year & be in full force with the ministry team this year.

693 / Friends that get my need for books.  Yes, I talked about it on Monday but I gotta say once again, how thankful I am for AMAZING FRIENDS. Especially ones that get my need for Harry Potter books!!!!  Its people like this in the world that makes life just so much better.

695 / Zoe Girl.  Our little baby girl turned 11 years old on Monday.  Bless her. We found her on the side of a road covered in snow when she was just a puppy... & here she is 11 years later the queen of a house.

It's our little lady's birthday.... such a dainty girl but the boss of the boys 🐶❤🎂 . . . #rjvdogs #zoechristeen #birthday #dogsofinstagram #ourbabygirl #11yearsold:

696 / Kale Salad at Kroger Deli. I've walked by the deli section at Kroger so many times & not paid much attention.  I went out at lunch at work & had to pick up some drinks & ran into the store & was wondering what I could have for lunch. I just happened to stop & see what that green stuff was behind the glass.  OH MY GOSH... its called a Kale Super Food Salad. IT IS AMAZING!!!! Kale, edamame, sunflower seeds, carrots, cashews, blueberries, pomegranate... It honestly has been on my mind since I had it. I need more of this in my life. I could eat it every day.

Why have I waited so long to try this Superfood Salad at Kroger's deli? AMAZING!!! #lunch #21dayfix #healthyeating #vegetarian #superfood:

Tell me something good that's happened in your week!

  5. I'm thankful for a spur-of-the-moment drive to a farmers market 2 hours away - so fun.

I have a friend who needle-felted a coin purse made up of fur from her Samoyed. It was white and fluffy and just beautiful ... but I couldn't help but wonder if it'd get that wet-dog smell if it got wet. ;)

  6. Ooh goodness- I love the little rescue story of Zoe! Happy Birthday to her!! Our Lylee-bear sheds like a beast. I found a tuft of hair on the couch and freaked out because I thought a cushion had split open. Nope- just a clump of Lylee fur. Haha!

  7. My cat has been shedding like crazy this summer, too! It definitely looks like he drops little kitten fur balls everywhere. In fact, I just bought a hand vac just to vacuum random cat hair up with the other day.

  8. I didn't know that's how you got Zoe! How amazing that you guys found her! Oh gosh don't tell me about clearance sandals!!! Flat sandals is probably the area my shoe wardrobe is most lacking in...but I'm not allowed to shop this month!!! Ha! Also YES superfood salad is the best. I'm not sure if I had that exact one before, but whenever I've had it...so so good.

  9. I love that quote at the top, so cute. so so cute. And my goodness, pet hair... am I right?! I swear every time I brush our cats we've got hair kittens running around. People craft with cat hair too. LOL It just cracks me up! :P Love the picture of your bride and groom as new parents. It's so so sweet! :) This week my sister and my mom are in town, so we've been spending lots of time with them. My hubby also came home at lunch yesterday to bring me soup and mashed potatoes because I was feeling really crummy. Grateful for all of that! :) XO -Alexandra

  10. So you are going to buy that book, right? I will send you some of Bayleee's hair since she sheds so much and you can knit a keepsake for me, okay???...lol. Seriously though, I would love to see just what people are knitting with dog hair. I may have to look that up!

  11. I have an artist acquaintance who felts cat hair. You could do the same with dog fun, I'm sure. Felting is hard work though! I always enjoy your thankful posts. I'm doing the Happiness Challenge for August. Be happy!! :)

  14. That salad sounds delicious. I love Krogers, but they don't come this far north. But when I am back in KY I'm all hey Mom, can we go to Krogers? Do you need groceries? Haha #NerdAlert

Also, things I would not buy from your Etsy...knitted dog hair cowl scarves. Hahaha. I'm alarmed by the fact that that book exists. And I would be double afraid to read all the reviews it has on Amazon...
